  1. We don't even use the run when it is the perfect option. Last game we have the ball tied 26-26 in field goal range with just over 2 minutes to go. What to do? Maybe run the ball 3 times, make SD use their time outs, then kick the field goal, so that SD gets the ball with no TOs. What do we do? Put Joe in an empty backfield shotgun, fumble the snap and move 10 yards further back. Then throw an incomplete pass, then pass again and kick FG. SD gets ball back with2 TOs. Terrible clock management.
  2. And sending his kicker out is what would have really shown confidence in his team.
  3. I have no problems with making gutsy calls, just stupid ones. Harb's calls were justified - we desperately needed to try everything to get a win. And they were not in a game winning situation. Tomlin's on the other hand was the worst of four choices. 1( If he is going for it on 4th down, give it to Hill who we couldn't stop all game for less than 3 yards. 2) Punt the ball and pin us deeper if he had no faith in his kicker. 3) The best option was send out the kicker. The guy has been in the league over ten years and knows how to adjust. Both of his misses showed he had plenty of distance; they were just wide. If he makes it, they win. Just don't put it into the hands of a washed up QB with so many things that could go wrong.
  4. Good that they didn't throw anyone under the. That was classy. Have never thought Tomlin was a good coach. Got his superbowl with Cowher's team and has been getting worse ever since. Riding Rothlesberger's coattails. The call was the worst of 4 options.
  5. Final point on Joe. No, he is not overpaid. I would rather be paying him than chasing marginal QBs in the draft. See Cleveland, Jacksonville, Oakland, Houston, Tennessee, NYJ, Buffalo, etc.
  6. Let's put Flacco in proper perspective. 1) He is a very good starting QB; the best we have ever had. 2) He is tough and there for us every week. 3) Both 1 and 2 mean that we do not have to chase a QB in the draft, that kills many other teams. It is a great luxury. 4) He is inconsistent. We get mediocre and we get great. That is just Joe. But that means that the rest of the team must be good for us to win consistently. 5) He is not elite, not on a par with Rodgers, Brady, Peyton. I have watched those three surgically rip apart their opponents, all with replacement receivers. I love Joe and am happy to have him, but let's be honest.
  7. We need to stop worrying about what ifs. The bottom line is we have a lot of holes because of injuries and we need to try to fill them. If we continue with just who we have, our season is looking grim, especially with SSS and camp injuries. We got Babin, who I hope helps the pass rush and Davis, who looks like a stud nickel. Just gotta continue adding, especially at WR and possibly Oline.
  8. Agree 100% with Ravensfan. Brown is a very cheap option who showed excellent skills in preseason garbage time and can provide some depth. Don't know much about Lloyd, but would rather trade for a proven #1 like Jeffery. Have pretty much resigned myself that Perriman is coming back next year; let him heal. We need WR help.
  9. Bottom line, we won. Positives were getting the run game going and finally seeing Aiken get some catches. But the same weaknesses showed as in our losses. I can't call the pass defense a positive (except for Davis) since Vick is dogmeat. We have to make a couple trades. I know it is not our M. O. but we need a legit #1 WR. I can't see SSS carrying us for a long season and the injuries are mounting. I would love to get Jeffery and what ever happened to the converted CB that ran good routes, got open and caught everything in preseason garbage time (can't remember his name)? But again, we won!
  10. I just hope that Joe learns to "overthrow" his receivers on the deep balls. If you are going to err, do it on the overthrow end. Those don't get intercepted. Can't understand why someone with a cannon for an arm seems to consistently be short on deep passes.
  11. thank you ksk316, that video shows what I was talking about. Jacoby had to wait on the pass, but was so far behind that terrible defense that it worked.
  12. We won't have Perriman for a while. So let's beat them with fast moving, sustained drives. No bombs. Look at Philadelphia against us in preseason and NE in the playoffs. Neither team threw a pass much over 10 yards. I always cringe at Joe's long balls anyway because they almost always are underthrown. Don't know why because he has a cannon for an arm, but the receivers seem to have to slow down and wait for them. This should spark some controversy.
  13. Likely the Giants, who need CBs, grabbed Asa quickly before another team could. Then they watched the tape...
  14. While Joe doesn't necessarily get his due publicly, you can see that subconsciously the prognosticators think he is great. Look at the company of the top AFC teams: NE - Brady - future HOF Indy - Luck - likely future HOF Denver - Manning - future HOF Balt - Flacco - you do the math
  15. Obviously, Brown hasn't played against the top competition, but that isn't his fault. I don't quite see why a guy who is 6'5" and has shown good route running, positioning and glue for hands isn't appealing. We have all gone gaga over tall receivers with a lot less skills. A team like Green Bay if they have been watching will pick him up in a heartbeat.
  16. Want to see Magee returning kickoffs this game
  17. OK, thanks. How about unofficial news on the severity of our injuries?
  18. Sorry, Magee is a rookie.
  19. Has anyone seen an official injury report? What is the status/severity of all our injuries?
  20. Why not try McGee at kick returner? He seems pretty quick and shifty and with Taliaferro's injury he is a borderline #3 RB who has looked pretty good in preseason. Plus he has been around for a while, so should not make rookie mistakes.
  21. Why are we not trying McGee as a kick returner? He is a pretty fast, shifty RB and with Taliaferro's injury he is a boarderline #3 RB.
  22. Gotta trust our front office, but it seems like we are getting guys who are dropping because of health questions. Never like that.
  23. Well, we're sticking to BPA come hell or high water.
  24. Brandon Coleman, WR, Rutgers !!
  25. So far have gotten #10 talent with the 17th pick and #35 talent with pick 48. bPA baby.
