Let me be brief. Most of what I feel has already been articulated pretty well by several people. To me why this site worked for many of us was simply the moderation involved in keeping the conversation civil and curtailing excessive trolling. That helped make this board very intellectually stimulating, educational and a whole lot of fun. Most of us have never met each other or perhaps never will. But, we can't deny that there was a kinship formed that isn't easy to erase (at least for me). Now, there is no substitute for that readily available for us to migrate to. Facebook and other social media websites are despicable in the content and exchanges. It is not a replacement for genuine fans of a ball club. That is what makes this closure so baffling to me.

    Sorry didn't end up brief.

    Spot on.

People that know him and have seen your pic on the forums can not believe the resemblance, they say we all have a doppelgänger some where.

So post a picture already!!! Time is running out.

I met one of my doppelgangers. I was walking into the gym he was walking out.  We both gave each other a look that said "damn. You look exactly like me. "

We continued to cross paths at the gym but never spoke a word to each other.

That was the early 90's I think.

Hey Dog, what is going on in the 5th picture you posted? Looks like you are eating your glove. lol

    Face protector.
Came in handy on more than a few occasions.

I don't remember what that trick was called but basically ( as is the case with every trick back then ) I start from a riding position, lock the rear brake, and kinda hop and spin all at the same time landing on the back pegs facing backwards.  At which point I can hop around a bit or kick the tire and kinda scoot around like that.
After all that just jump and spin again and return to the riding position and ride away never letting my feet touch the ground.

Maybe we should all reveal one little tidbit about ourselves.

I am a pretty open guy, there is not a lot I have not revealed here.  Not sure what would be interesting....

    Perhaps this....
In my teen years ( the mid-late 80's )  ( NINETEEN eighties that is ) I did that BMX freestyle stuff.  I was actually very good.

  6. Seriously though I was at Pep-Boys getting motor oil and the girl behind the counter looked at me all wide eyed and jaw on the floor.

    "You are here?!?!"

" Ummmm. Yep. I am here"

    "YOU are HERE !?!? "

" Yup. Still here. Not going anywhere till I get my oil. "

"Oh wait... you're not.... you're not Bruce Willis? "

"Yeah Bruce Willis buys his own motor oil at a Pep-Boys in Glen Burnie. "

    That really happened.

  7. We are swirling the toilet my friends.
We are running towards the light.

    The sun is setting.
    *sigh*

There is a lot of good and smart people here.  Some idiots as well.  You all know who you are, if not I can fill you in on my opinion.

As much as I would like to make a list of everyone whom I have appreciated on here my issue of a poor memory and not wanting to forget someone and getting people confused and what not.  Suffice to say, if I like you and I respect you, you probably know it.  Take that for what it is worth.

Thanks to the Mods.  You get a lot of crap, but I appreciate you.  When my daughter was very young she would sit next to me while I was on the computer and read posts with me.  I always felt safe letting her do that with me.  That father / daughter bonding time is irreplaceable.

Some of you might recall a family tragedy for me a few years ago.  It was among the most difficult times of my life and this place was not only a refuge but a support group as well.  I started a thread on the situation and many here rallied around me and supported me in a difficult time.  ( cept' for one butt who took the opportunity to be an butt, but I have not seen that poster in a few years )

I have been on here more or less daily for a decade if I am not mistaken.  We endured the Boller years together.  We celebrated the mile high miracle.  We celebrated our second Super Bowl together.
We all felt loss when Ray and Ed left the flock.
We mourned the loss of Tray Walker, Konrad Reuland, and the man we owe our team bing in Baltimore to Art Modell.  We as a community have been through a lot together.  We have been in the truest sense a community.
I truly feel loss losing this place.  Not sure if those other two joints will be the same or not.

Either way, my Flock friends.  Five days to go.  Lets make them matter.  Lets make them significant.  Lets shut this place down the way we kept it alive.
With Purple Pride.  Class.  Dignity and a united passion for all things RAVENS.
