  1. "...

Baltimore is reportedly asking Boldin to take $2 million off his contract for next season. As King notes, that logic is flawed based on his production in the postseason:

Ravens officials and players will be on hand to watch highlights of the season and mostly of the playoffs, and if they see what I saw, they'll say, What a dominant postseason Boldin had. How can we make a guy who played as well as he did take a cut?..."

I dunno, I saw Boldin all season and he didnt play like that most of the time. His best game was when he abused the Browns 3rd string CB. He was also matched up against really bad CBs in the postseason, he couldn't get open against NE until Talib got hurt, ironically enough breaking up a pass intended for Boldin.

  2. this is what you said

(People acting like out team is doomed if we let Boldin go is hilarious)......i'm sorry that you can't rememeber what you said 5 mintues ago but not once in all my posting since joining this site did i ever say this team was doomed . i had to find your orignial post . losing season was what i said sorry you misread it and quoted me wrong as well.

  3. I am going to have to disagree. If he was a really good WR he would get more playing time regardless of who else is good. Otherwise how do you explain Pierce getting playing time over Rice? Rice is the better back but Pierce runs the ball quite often. Boldin couldn't use a break?

He was used more towards the end of the season when Caldwell took over.

  4. whatever dude no one said that at all ....lol most people are looking for a conversation about options if he loses. and for the record even if they were they are entiltled to voice there opinions here just like you are and not be belittled or made fun of for them .

I never belittled or made fun of anyone. Some of these comments make laugh is all.

  5. You cannot seriously be comparing Dropsy Doss to either Smith or Boldin. Not even as a bad example. The guy doesn't get much play time because the FO and coaching staff don't want him to. It isn't like we are wildly deep at WR. If he was any good at all and had actually caught a few passes thrown his way, he would have gotten more play time.

Not at all true, Doss didnt play because Cam used 2 WR sets like 70% of the time. When he used 3 WRs it was mostly Jacoby.

  6. no one said that at all and i think its hilarious that you would even jump to the conclusion that anyone ever said it and i read back at least ten pages to find out who did .

It's not jumping to a conclusion. A lot of posts have been all doom and gloom if we lose our only "proven" WR. dont even pretend like it's not the case.

  7. People acting like out team is doomed if we let Boldin go is hilarious. I love him as a player and he is a great teammate and leader, but it's not the end of the world folks.

Honestly, the team will be in a better position to win in the long-term if they let him go because it allows us to sign other players that are not at the end of their careers. We have made the playoffs 5 straight years and there has been a lot of turnover. It's not like Boldin has been the driving force behind the team's success.

I get the sentimental attachment and the recency effect. We also saw Boldin ball out during the playoffs, but the fact is he makes way more than his value, and it's not like the Ravens are asking him to play for nothing. A 2M dollar paycut is exactly what Boldin should be making.

  8. They look alright against 3rd string talent. Deonte Thompson actually showed me he had the best hands out of them all. And no, Doss was not open more often than Boldin. All the passes to him were extremely forced and he dropped most of them. Boldin is far and away better than Doss.

I never said Doss was as good as Boldin, that would be a ridiculous comment. You are the one who said Doss is horrible which is also a ridiculous comment because he has probably seen a total of 200 snaps. He has shown the ability to get open downfield and make plays. He had some drops but they were far from easy catches, he is going to have a bigger role next season undoubtedly.

  9. They have opportunities in pre-season and practice and nothing too great has come of it. Doss looked horrible in his playing time he received. Streeter and Thompson are the ones I'd like to see but we need to wait for the preseason.

They looked pretty good in the preseason, but they didnt get actual PT because Cam never used more than 3 WRs, and the only WR who got any meaningful snaps was Doss. No, he did not look horrible. He actually got open more frequently than boldin, but he was really underused because he was 4th on the depth chart.

  10. There are people behind them but they aren't as good. I want to give Streeter a shot, Thompson too, but there are no vet receivers on this team to guide them. Also we can always give them a shot but what if they don't work out? You'd be begging for Boldin back.

Well it's a risk you have to take. Let's not make Boldin out to be something he isnt. In three years he has never had a 1,000 yard season. He has had 14 TDs in 3 seasons. He has been overpayed for 3 seasons, and if he didnt go into beast mode during the playoffs this wouldnt even be a discussion.

There are tangible reasons why the FO doesnt want to keep him at hsi current price. I'm not exaggerating when I said he was the slowest WR in the NFL. You watch the film and and he does not get separation from any CB worth his salt. He is physical and has incredibly strong hands which allows him to out-position defenders and make tough catches.

The young guys have to be given a shot, to know what we have in them. Maybe we draft another WR too because after this season Boldin will be gone either way.

  11. Ozzie and Harbs are the biggest advocates in the league of the "next man up" philosophy. We'll need to see Doss, Jones, and lil Q to step up. I'm going to try and have faith in Ozzie, but I'm skeptical of that group.

But you guys know as well as I do, every time Ozzie scares the crap out of us like this, he almost always makes up for it. We'll see how it goes, but for now I'll abide by our favorite mantra: In Ozzie We Trust.

Dont forget about Streeter and Thompson too. We have a lot of young WRs that have potential, but havent the consistent opportunity. Ozzie and co see these guys at practice where we cant. We wouldnt just cut Boldin if there was no one to play behind him.

  12. Well while he has under performed, I put some of that blame on Cam, I mean look at what he was able to do with Caldwell. Look what he did in Arizona, so Cam was the reason Boldin under performed. For someone who says it's not about the money, he really is sounding like a hypocrite not taking a fair pay cut of 2M.

Of course there are rumors that all this talk is Boldin's agent TRYING to get Anquan cut to test the market.

Yeah, I didnt really believe the whole retiring thing, but I doubt anyone overpays for him. He can still make plays and Cam was certainly part of the problem, but his physical skills have diminished too. He really struggles to gain separation.
