  1. I like Jack as a player, but I don't see him as a fit for this team unless we're switching to a 4-3 (specifically a Tampa 2).  I think using him in a 3-4 would be a waste of his talents, and with the rest of the personnel we have it probably wouldn't make a lot of sense.

Personally I'm pulling for Ramsey, Bosa, or Buckner.

  2. Been thinking about this pretty much all season.  I actually think it's quite doable all with the addition of a few players.  I think it's definitely possible that Mosely could play an Outside Linebacker (strong side) role, and I think 1 of either Orr or Arthur Brown would play weakside.  If not, finding a weakside linebacker is probably the the easiest to find in the draft.

I think at this point in his career, Suggs might actually be better off in a 4-3 role because his two strong-suits are rushing the passer and stopping the run... we haven't seen him drop into coverage much at all in the last few years.  It could also mean slightly less double teams for Suggs having 1 extra man on the line.  Dumervil has already played in a 4-3 in his career so I don't think that's really a question.

If Bosa is the best player available when we're on the board, we take him and start the switch to a 4-3.

  3. @TDavenport_NFL  #Ravens Wed injury report: DNP Monroe (concussion) Perriman (knee) LP Forsett (shoulder) Melvin (thigh) FP Jernigan (knee) Taliaferro (knee)

So did Melvin, Jernigan and Taliaferro practice today or not?  Seeing conflicting reports.

    For Clarity

    Monroe and Perriman didn't practice

    Forsett and Melvin were limited

    Jernigan and Taliaferro practiced fully

  4. LaMichael James was just waived by the Dolphins, per Bleacher Report.  I think he's probably a far superior ST option to anyone else we have on the roster, and could also be a weapon on offense. He's definitely struggled so far in his career, but I think he might be worth a shot to boost our ST play and keep Steve Smith away from punt returns.

    Thoughts?

  5. A posterior cruciate ligament sprain can take six to eight weeks to recover," Hensley wrote. Well Jamison... Even if it's the 8 weeks, He injured the knee the beginning of July.... So even at that, your speculation could be up to a whole month off. I hate when the media makes "assumptions".... You know what that often means.

    Assumptions....  Speculations....  Puh-Leeeeese....Knock it off.

Perriman injured his knee on July 30th, not the beginning of July.  The 6 week mark would be this Thursday, September 10th.  I would guess based on the 6-8 week recovery period that Perriman will likely start practicing or taking part in individual drills next week with the goal of getting him back in shape and up to speed before the Bengals home opener.  That would be just over 8 weeks after the injury, and would hopefully give him some time to knock the rust off before we play in Pittsburgh.

  6. Another option for KR/PR is Jeremy Ross, who handled those duties for the Lions for the past 2 years.  He also was decently productive as a 4th WR for the Lions last year.  It's unlikely that we'll sign a 7th WR to the roster, but he'd probably be an upgrade over what we have currently.

  7. This is in stark contrast to the item that has been floating around ... "ESPN Ravens reporter Jamison Hensley said rookie WR Breshad Perriman (sprained PCL) could be sidelined until October." based on a sprained PCL usually carriing a six-to-eight week timetable,

Of course, Hensley can do no better than speculate like the rest of us. On the other hand, even Harbaugh can't know for sure, but should have a better idea. Nonetheless, it is possible this is just an attempt to force the Broncos to consider his presence a possibility.

Seeing him on the field in any capacity was encouraging .. .but the fact that he still can't jog makes it hard to see how he'd be a full go in practice and would be ready for game 1. I think a game 3 return would be about the best we can hope for.

October seems off, considering the 6 week mark is coming up in a few days and the 8 week mark would be September 24th.  I imagine he'll probably start running this week, take a week or so to get back into shape and have a realistic shot at playing week 2/3.

  8. It's possible Butler gets picked up, but he didn't really do well enough on ST or really stand out enough on offense to make me worried.  I think he'll clear waivers since it's unlikely a team will pick up a project WR that doesn't play ST well.

  9. Has anyone heard if Tyson is playing tonight?  He didn't practice after Saturday's game with his shoulder injury.  I guess by not waiving/injured this week he must be good to go for tonight's game.  It is odd that we have not heard anything about his injury yet, but I guess we will see in a couple hours.

If he didn't practice all week I'd assume he's not playing.  They may have just wanted to see what happened in this game before deciding what to do with him (IR, release, waived/injured, etc.).

  10. I think there's pretty much 6 locks at this point...

Smith, Perriman, Aiken, Campanero, Brown and Waller.

Daniel Brown and Tom Nelson seem like PS candidates (although I'm not sure if Nelson is technically eligible for the PS).  They'll try to get Butler on the PS if they don't keep 7 WR's on the roster.  I think Butler is probably going to play A LOT tomorrow to see if he shows up or not.

  11. I think Arthur Brown is much better than Orr in run defense, and Orr is far better in pass coverage. I do like what Brown can do as a blitzer. Brown has made real strides as a ST player as well. In the end I think we carry 5 ILBs as all 3 backups have shown reason to keep them. McClellan has probably flashed the least but I think his role is secure.

I think McClellan's spot is possibly the most on the line out of the 3 of them.  Orr has far more upside and they may want to give Brown 1 more year to make some plays and prove himself.  McClellan is a limited athlete who really only excels at special teams.  I'd personally rather give a spot to Brown over McClellan because I think players like McClellan can be found on waivers throughout the season.

  12. Exactly, I don't see it as something improbable.

As further proof, Ray Lewis had a very similar injury in 2012 when we put him on the IR-DR list.  He suffered the injury and was back playing 11 weeks later, even though it was with a brace.  Urban is 24 and Lewis was 37.  Based on the fact that Urban is younger, I don't find it impossible that he could be working out and even practicing 10 weeks after the injury occurred.

  13. It could potentially work, but like GrimCoconut and JoeyFlex said, it can't be that only comes in for one specific thing.

I think the wisest thing to do would be to have him use the inside blitz 30% of the time, with the rest of the time just covering a RB/FB in man coverage.  This way the game isn't complicated and he doesn't have to think about more than one thing at a time.  It's either "get the RB" or "get the QB."  From what I've noticed, his flaws come from zone coverage and when he doesn't stick to his gap in run defense.
