  1. I think Victor Cruz is a solid option to look at if we don't see any other cuts come in after June 1.  Last year was his first year back from that big injury and he started off pretty slow with only 15 receptions through the first 8 games, but in the last 8 games he had 24 receptions.

Otherwise the only real options out there are Boldin, Hawkins or Floyd (who we probably won't touch because of his suspension).

Would you be saying the same thing if he fails another couple of drug tests and gets a 4 game suspension after we pick him?  It's foolish to say it'd be unacceptable because we know none of the facts.  If he makes it to us and we take him, it shows we have the comfort.  If not, I think it goes to show that Ozzie vetted his Alabama sources and determined he wasn't worth the risk.  By no means would passing on him be unacceptable just because he's a good player.  He can't be a good player if he's not on the field, and they may or may not be a real concern.

    Or it could mean that:

    - they feel good about Correa's future as an ILB
    - they have other ILB's in this draft class closely rated to Foster
    - They had someone else on the board rated higher than Foster

You didnt single out anything before the draft. You definitely complained afterward... ill give you that.

But actually before that draft the guy you singled out as a "please no" was Landon Collins, and equated him to Elam... and he was in the running for DPOY last year. Part of your reasoning was also how great Will Hill was. Hes da truth....

Lets also not forget how big of a bust you said Brandon Williams was, and how the 2014 draft was a clear indication of the FO admitting the failure of that pick.

cmon dude... your memory of how you "nail" things is pretty far off. You do know there is a record, right? You never typed the word Perriman prior to the draft. Probably bc you never heard of him, which is why you didnt like the pick.

    DAMN.  hahahahahah

  5. Wouldn't be too thrilled with this.

Ryan Switzer is my "late round" guy this year, but round 3 is too early for him.  I LOVE him and I don't think I'd even consider him before the 4th, but the 5th or 6th round is probably the highest most teams will draft him at because of his size.

I can't believe y'all like this signing more than if we got Mo. Ozzie been talking all off season about adding playmakers, instant coffee, etc. Carr is not a playmaker! This whole thread keeps repeating how great it is that he is reliable and not an injury risk. Why does that matter if this guy doesn't make plays when on the field? He has had like 2 picks over the last 3 years! At least Mo had talent and upside, Carr is old and you know exactly what you are going to get which is average. But it's cool because he will "stay on the field". That 6 mil a year could have gone to King Dunlap to fix the line and then take a corner in the draft since it's such a deep class! This and the Woodhead signing were wasted money imo.

Not arguing who the better player is but... last year Mo Claiborne had 1 interception and 5 passes defensed, while Carr had 1 interception and 9 passes defensed.

  7. Saying Noah Spence has 5.5 sacks already and that we should have taken him instead doesn't take into consideration the fact that we play a vastly different defense than the Bucs.  I really don't think Spence was suited to play in our system, which is probably why we didn't take him.  You can have a very talented player that doesn't fit your needs, and just because he plays well for another team doesn't mean it was a bad idea to not draft him.  We have no way of knowing if Spence would be playing this well for us right now, or even knowing if he'd be playing at all (like Correa).

Many rookies struggle to play their rookie years and go on to have fine careers.  Correa was the talk of Mini Camp and parts of training camp, so the coaches and media definitely saw the talent there.  Now he just needs to work on translating that to the field.

It's something about Moore that I really like. Doesn't seem like he's getting many offensive reps at the moment.  But I think we he gets his next opportunity he will make the most of it, just as he's making the most out of his special teams role.

Moore has been tremendous on ST.  I do think that he'll start to get more looks on offense, but I'm more excited to see his development in year 2.

I don't see the Cowboys saying - well, Ravens got a good run D, so we should not run the ball. It will be a strength on strength play. Here's what I have to say to that ... it will be KEY that our secondary tackles well. No matter how well we play the run, there will be a time when their run scheme will free Elliot to get past our first line and someone in the secondary will be called up on to make a tackle. If the miss - that run can go to the house. We can't have that.

Boyle has a 10 week suspension, so he won't be eligible to return until the practices leading up to our game at home vs. Bengals.

I actually believe that suspensions include the Bye week, so Boyle can return to practice on Monday.  Tom Brady served a 4 week suspension and came back to play week 5, despite the Patriots having a Bye in Week 4.

  10. I haven't read most of the new posts on this board since yesterday's loss, but I've read enough to know that people are a little panicked about the rest of the season.

Obviously, I think this team has A LOT of problems that need to be addressed, but I think there's a little reason for optimism.

    1.  We're still only 1 game behind Pittsburgh for the lead in the division and they play New England next week (likely without Ben Roethlisberger).  Considering we face the Jets next week, there's a decent chance we go into our Bye week tied for first in the division with a chance to take control of our season if we beat the Steelers.  Luckily, the Bengals seem to be struggling a bit this year as well and their schedule is pretty tough.

    2.  This team had a LOT of injuries last year and mostly less-serious injuries so far this season. Some of the players are still coming back and getting into form, and a lot of our players are young.  I think most of us predicted for these reasons that this team would be better in the later half of the year than the first half, although most of us got our hopes up when we started 3-0.  I think specifically Joe is still uncomfortable and uncertain with his knee, but there are reasons to believe the offensive line, Joe and our receivers will all be better after a few weeks under Mornhinweg

I think we all know that a bit of good fortune will be necessary to keep this season on track, but there are still reasons to be hopeful.

Is it too early to label this guy with the "B" word? Cause I've seen nothing from him. Definitely not the 4.2 speed... Ozzie and his WR troubles. Sigh

Lol, he almost caught the game-winning pass.  If this was college, it would have been a Ravens win.

The offensive line hasn't protected well enough for him to get many chances.  He'll be fine.

Kenneth Dixon will not play vs Oakland is that l can already tell, Dumervil will play, Stanley and Lewis has to play or we in trouble, and Timmy Jernigan and Kamar are 50-50 but l would think that they will play.

I think we'll be okay without Lewis.  I'm confident in Urschel/Jensen to do a good job.  Stanley is a different story, and I hope he can play.

Main problem I have with this is that fans seem to assume that replacing a bad starter with a backup automatically leads to an upgrade.

Frankly, I'm not sure what that basis for that logic is, and would love for somebody to explain it to me.

3 weeks ago, Jensen wasn't as good as Zuttah at center, as we know because he didn't win the camp battle for that job. So just wondering what has happened in the last three weeks for fans to be so sure that Jensen is an upgrade? (this is when I typically hear fans using vague, irrelevant phrases like "nastier" or "tougher", which mean nothing).

Basically comes back to the idea of the coaching staff seeing 100% of the things you see and 100% of the things you don't see. Coaches aren't in the business of intentionally putting inferior players out there when better players exist on the roster... doesn't benefit them in any possible way. So for me, if the coaching staff hasn't pulled the trigger yet, it should tell ALL fans something. In fact, it may say more about Jensen than it does about Zuttah.

While I agree with you, we do know that coaches do sometimes give the nod to a guy with more experience even if the younger player may show more promise. When it comes to center play, one or two bad snaps can completely change the outcome of a game, and you also count on your center to make line calls to make sure they have the right protection.  Both of these things may be the reason Zuttah is still starting over Jensen or Urschel, even if that means that Urschel and Jensen may be better blockers than Zuttah is at this time.

I agree... I think if Dixon comes back healthy he should largely be phased out of the offense.

I'm saying that, right now, I'm not sure I want West being a 20 carry a game guy and Forsett being like a 5-6 carry a game guy. I don't think you'd see a significant impact on our offense if that happened.

Agree.  I think the best combination for our RB's would be 10-12 a game for West, 8-10 for Dixon and 5-10 for Forsett.  The biggest issue with phasing out Forsett a little is that I think he understands our pass protection scheme the most.  He still adds value to the offense because of that, but as a runner he just isn't where he was 2 years ago.

  15. The injury to Linder is a big story to watch.  I haven't watched him play much, but according to most people he's their best offensive lineman.

It's especially huge considering Beachum is also hurt, and Joeckel would probably slide from LG to LT.  That would mean that their starting LT, LG and C will have never played together before and none of them are the best options the Jaguars have for those respective positions.

If this ends up as their starting lineup, I definitely expect Pees to look and try to exploit this weakness.

  16. I think Carter may be one of the first, especially because I think he only made the team since Doom was hurt.  I've noticed Correa on ST more than I've noticed Carter, although I'm not positive that who has actually played more snaps.

Outside of Carter, I agree with others that it would probably be Canady or Price, although I think with Canady playing as a gunner more often he may stay on the active roster.

I don't like him at pass rusher anymore. He has been so ineffective so far this year, like I don't see any reason to even field him in pass rushing snaps.

But I think he still has it as a run defender and I would think his ability to work the flats in coverage and sniff out plays to the edge would still be effective, it would also probably add some more years of effectiveness if he isn't constantly engaging with LTs, letting him play in space more could maybe help him out.

Or I could be completely wrong and he is way too slow for it, I haven't found that out yet... But that's for another thread anyway.

I think he's definitely still working his way back into game shape.  I think he'll come on stronger in the pass rush department as the year goes on.  If anything, I think he'd be more effective as a 4-3 End then a 4-3 OLB though.
