Big fan of this move. The only reason I wanted to keep Monroe before he was released was because I was worried about the depth at the LT position, but now we seem to have sured that up.

I really don't understand some people's impatience with Perriman. As long as he's ready to play by the beginning of the season, he'll make some contributions this year. I don't think anyone should have ever expected him to start this year, barring injuries to other players, as this is basically his rookie campaign. If we can get a solid 30-40 catches out of him this year, I'd consider that a success (especially with the depth we have at the WR and TE positions).

I have a lot of faith in Webb's abilities at safety. I don't think there's any question that his speed and coverage abilities will be better than pretty much every other safety we've had since Reed left. Durability and experience at safety are really the only questions since he hasn't played there since college.

It's not about them knowing something Jacksonville didn't, it was that they didn't view the risk/reward the same way (meaning they probably were advised that his chances of playing more than 4 years were slim). I wanted Jack as well, but Correa was on of my favorite players in the draft. Even if he ends up playing inside linebacker a lot, I imagine they'll definitely create a lot of blitz packages for him which will make the defense more versatile. He's obviously a totally different player, but I could see Correa ending up like Adalius Thomas who was used all over the field for us.

I think this is a very friendly deal for Tucker and the team. Excited that I don't have to worry about another Billy Cundiff situation for a while.

I don't think you quite know what "deepest" means if you say they have the deepest group with JUST Gronk lol. Deepest implies depth, not talent at the top of the depth chart.

We should keep all 4 TE's if they're all healthy at the end of camp. The chances that all 4 TE's, plus Waller, are healthy by the end of week 10 are pretty slim, so I'd guess that Boyle is safe (especially because he's a valuable blocker and STer).

100% Agree. Davis is more versatile, younger and cheaper. Smith and Wright take the outside, Powers and Davis back up on the outside, Powers takes the slot/nickel, Young takes Nickel/Dime and Canady is a ST player (maybe a weekly inactive). Arrington played alright at nickel last year, but I feel better with Powers and Davis there, with Young stepping in as well. At this point, I'd say Price has a better shot at making the team than Arrington does.

Shepard is the only player that I was really interested in from the names that I saw declared, but I don't think I'd use any draft picks for 2017 on him. If he clears the supplemental I'd put an offer out to sign him as a UDFA.

The silver lining: he won't count towards the roster for the first 4 games, so the team can keep until after game 4 before deciding what they want to do with him. The same is true for Nick Boyle (except it's 10 games). Ultimately having some players come in fresh in the middle of the season can really rejuvenate the team. It's just a shame they have to do these things to make that happen.

Assuming Waller at least looks to show some potential and improvement in training camp, I'd keep him over almost any of the other bubble candidates we have on the roster, as well as some veterans that are generally expected to make the team (Watson, Pitta, Forsett, etc.). He may not contribute as much to the team this year, but his potential far exceeds any of those players and his value on ST is extremely valuable. However, we don't know how injuries are going to play out in training camp, and I'd be very okay with stashing him on IR for this season if that's what the team feels is necessary to keep him.

I think it's also very possible, or even likely, that Perriman spends the first few weeks of training camp doing individual drills before he starts with full contact and team drills. If he comes back for the last week of camp and last pre-season game or two, then that'll give him enough time to get acclimated before the season starts. If he's not ready to start practicing until right before the season, I'd expect that he might even be inactive for the first 4-6 weeks.

I think you might be right on Judon, but Correa has value all over the field. His biggest strength is rushing the passer, so he'll certainly do a lot of that even if it's from the inside or weakside.

Agree - Also, the injury ended up being worse than they originally anticipated and I think he was just anxious to get back on the field. If he'd waited an extra 1-2 weeks, which he'll have this time. I'll remain optimistic about Breshad at least through this year. He's had 2 bad-luck injuries after almost no history of them before. He deserves a chance to prove every one of his doubters wrong.

Reading this comments thread makes me really glad that 95% of this board aren't working in the front office 1. No - we're not cutting Perriman. Not this year, and almost definitely not next year either. And probably not the year after that. He's extremely cheap and still has a ton of potential. We don't even know for sure if he needs surgery yet. If he does and it was only a partial tear, there's still at least a chance that he goes on the PUP list and comes back to play the last 6-8 games. If he was activated at that point it'd be almost 6 months, which isn't unheard of for a partial tear as far as I can tell. 2. Anquan Boldin is not the answer. There's no good reason to bring on a 36 year old receiver who can't separate from defensive backs. He was phenomenal during our Super Bowl run, but he's really not that much better than Kamar Aiken is at this point in his career - they're actually very, very similar receivers even though Boldin was obviously a better player in his prime. This is sad for Perriman, but there's still a chance he could come back from this and be a good player.

Well from some research, it appears that some partially torn ACL's can have a 3-5 month recovery time. If the tear really is partial (which is sounds like it might be if he's having a second opinion on if he needs surgery), then it's possible he could return after spending the first 6-8 weeks on the PUP list.

Wagner came back from a lisfranc injury in late 2014 to play last year and struggled at times early, like Jimmy Smith. I expect him to be fully recovered this year and if that's the case then he's almost definitely the best RT on the team. Also, LT and RT are very different positions because the technique is reversed - I wouldn't assume that Stanley will be ready to make the transition there, even though he played RT for Notre Dame in 2013. I also think it's a smart move to keep Monroe this year. Depth on the offensive line is clearly one of our biggest weaknesses (other than ILB), so I don't see the reason for cutting a player who could be an above average starter for us.

I think people are really underrating his abilities in pass coverage. He's definitely raw in that aspect, but athletically he would have been one of the better pass coverage linebackers in the draft had he played there more in college. I don't think there would be any plans to keep him there permanently, but I can see him lining up as an ILB to cover TE's at times - giving the defense flexibility and 1 more versatile player that offenses have to acconut for at all times.

The thing about Correa that a lot of people don't understand is that in terms of edge rushers in the draft, he may have had the MOST untapped potential (outside of maybe Leonard Floyd). Joey Bosa, you know what you're getting and the knock on him was that 'maybe' he had reached his ceiling (although I wasn't a believer in that theory). With Spence, he was a pure edge rusher that probably maxed out his frame and he had some questionable character. Correa (who admittedly was one of my favorite players in the draft) is very young (20 or 21), is extremely explosive with a tough motor and a frame to add some bulk and is a high character guy. If you watch his tape that is available online, you'll actually notice that he dropped into coverage very often and also played contain and QB spy a lot of the time. When he pinned back his ears and rushed the QB, you saw fantastic results, which is probably why his numbers from his sophomore year look better. I honestly think there's a really good chance that Correa ends up being our best player from this class even though his 'bust potential' might be higher than some of the other prospects that were available at our original 2nd round pick.

I doubt Juce is cut... he's a solid ST player and helps in the run and pass game. I'd imagine he would contribute more than a 3rd or 4th RB on the roster could. I think the RB's will come down to 3 of Forsett, Allen, Dixon, Richardson, West and LT, with Juice keeping a Spot at FB.

2 QB: Flacco, Mallett 4 RB: Forsett, Allen, Dixon, Juice (T-Rich is a wild card pick if they like him more than Forsett this year) 8 OL: Monroe, Stanley, Zuttah, Yanda, Wagner, Lewis, Jensen, Urschel (I don't see any reason to cut Monroe this year. Let him play LT and keep Stanley at guard. 6 WR: Smith, Perriman, Wallace, Aiken, Moore, Campanaro/Reynolds 4 TE: Watson, Gillmore, Williams, Pitta/Waller (Pitta is still a ?, and Waller played really well on Special Teams last year. Boyle comes back after suspension. I actually don't think Watson is a lock at all, especially if Pitta looks ready and/or if they want to keep Waller for his ST value). 7 DL: Williams, Jernigan, Davis, Henry, Guy, Kafusi, Urban 5 OLB: Suggs, Doom, Smith, Correa, Judon 4 ILB: Mosely, Brown, Orr, FA/McClellan 5 S: Weddle, Webb, Brooks, Elam, Levine 5 CB: Smith, Wright, Davis, Arrington, Young (Webb will play some nickel) 1K/1P/1LS

I had Correa above Spence, and apparently so did the team. He is raw, but if he was refined then he would have been a top 20 pick. He was playing out of position a lot of the time at Boise State, playing DE in a 4-3 and even playing middle linebacker on probably 5-10% of their snaps this year). When you saw him stand up on the outside, he beat his man a very large percentage of the time. He needs to get stronger, learn how to use his hands and he will be a special player.

3 weeks ago I was advocating to TRADE BACK UP into the first to take Correa. Never did I think we'd trade back (twice) and still get him. HUGE fan of the pick. He's going to take some time, but I think he has the most raw potential of any pass rusher in the class and is already a pretty decent pass defender.

Why is everyone taking this as truth? Has no one learned from the mis-information and smokescreens of the past? There has been 4 months of draft research, the only good reason for this to come out 4 days before the draft is to try to scare teams out of drafting him.
