  1. Just to play devil's advocate, I actually think it may be more likely that they carry the 4 TE's and only 4 RB's (including Juice), rather than 5 RB's. We pretty much know that Dixon is a lock for the roster because he's looked so good in camp and pre-season and he was a recent 4th round pick, and we assume West and Forsett are locks, although I really don't think that Forsett is a lock to make that team and he could be shopped or cut if they feel comfortable with the other backs on the team. I honestly am not even sure that Juice is a lock to make it, although I think it's fairly likely. I don't want to lose him, but I could see Buck being cut or traded. There seem to be just as many, if not more "ifs" about the RB group than there are about the TE's, and it's FAR easier to find capable RB's during the season than it is to find capable TE's.
  2. I understand this, but adding to what BmoreBird said, it's at least worth seeing what Pitta can do in the first 4 weeks of the season. If at that point he's not showing that he can get back to even 80% of the player he once was, then cutting him to bring in Waller (or Boyle later in the season) seems like the right move. If we cut him before then, the team is probably causing more harm than good.
  3. There's no reason for Pitta to not make the team. From all accounts he was looking great before he broke his finger, and he has the most chemistry with Flacco out of probably any other receiving option on the team. Yes, there's always the risk of re-injuring his hip, but that's a risk the team (and Pitta) was aware of before they allowed him to come back for training camp. If he does get injured, we have Waller coming back from suspension after week 4, and Boyle available to come back after week 10. If the argument is that "we can't keep 4 TE's," I find that hard to believe considering at one point there were discussions about keeping 5 TE's on the roster.
  4. I believe the reason Perriman isn't cleared for full contact is they want to ease him in and make sure he's in shape. He'll participate in walk throughs and probably the team drills, but not full contact until next week or the following week I'd guess. I'd say there's basically no chance he'll get to play in the pre-season game this weekend, but I'd guess there's a much better chance that he'll play a quarter or a half in the last pre-season game on Sept 1, as that will give him 10 days to get in shape before going out to test the knee in game conditions.
  5. I wasn't aware of the new rule change about the designated to return spot that RMW10 brought up, so if you don't have to designate him to return in advance then IR is a possibility, except if we don't bring him back as the 1 player then his career in Baltimore is probably done. That's why my gut is we go with the injury settlement so at least if we don't want to bring him back later, someone else can sign him later this season.
  6. You can't PUP him. Only thing you can do is IR with Designated to Return, IR (which ends his season), or go with an injury settlement and try to bring him back when he's healthy (unless he's claimed off waivers when we cut him, which I would think is unlikely). My gut feeling is we go the injury settlement route and try to bring him back after the first 4-6 weeks of the season.
  7. Perriman activated? Text from WNST www.WNST.net Ravens activate Dumervil, Perriman from PUP list. Elam to miss start of season with knee surgery.
  8. Quite possibly. I think it's about a 50/50 shot that Brown makes it because McClellan is playing mostly OLB this year, filling Upshaw's role and Correa has kind of been floating been ILB and OLB, meaning we don't really have a true ILB on the team after Orr and Mosley. If the team isn't worried about shifting McClellan or Correa back there full time in the event of an injury to Orr or Mosley, then Brown will probably be gone.
  9. People are saying to cut Arthur Brown, but he's probably the top backup to Mosely or Orr. McClellan and Correa can play there in a pinch, but I've also seen Arthur Brown play a lot of ST this pre-season so I'm not sure he gets cut.
  10. I don't think it's as easy as that. This will be our last year with Elam, even if we keep him, so the logic could be that if Brooks and Elam are relatively equal right now, they'll keep Brooks since we'll get him for 1 more year. However, my hope is they'll keep both and get rid of Lewis. I honestly don't think a player of Lewis' caliber is even that difficult to find in the middle of the season.
  11. Well, the plan is for Webb to be the starting safety, so I don't think he'll operate at a corner in any capacity unless it's an emergency. I could see him moving up in to a nickel or dime role to cover a slot receiver, but I think his days as an outside corner are pretty much done. However, I don't think the idea of 5 corners is completely crazy, given that BOTH Webb and Levine have experience there and could fill those roles in a pinch. I just don't see the team feeling comfortable with only 5 corners based on the fact that we had so many injuries there the past 2 seasons.
  12. Agree on cutting Lewis, keeping both Elam and Brooks. We've had years where our top safety was a 6th round rookie (Landry), so I don't think a 1st and 3rd round pick as backups to Webb and Weddle is that bad. Plus, more than likely Levine would actually be the direct backup safety in the event that Webb or Weddle gets injured.
  13. Brown seems like a prime PS candidate to me.
  14. IMO, the locks at corner are: Smith, Wright, Powers, Young, Davis (although Davis may be considered a bubble player, I think he makes it). The guys fighting for the last spot (or two) are Brown, Canady, Price, Arrington I think Arrington is as good as gone, and Canady also has an edge over the other guys because he was a draft pick. However, the FO also seems to really like Price, so I think he has a really good shot. Brown I think is definitely a PS player this year.
  15. There are different grades of sprains, and I'm guessing your sprain wasn't major enough to the point where they thought the ACL might be completely torn, before then realizing it wasn't and that it wasn't and a stem cell injection would be the way to go. It's been said since the very beginning that the hope was he'd be ready by mid August, which means he'll hopefully be practicing in the next 2 weeks. If he's not practicing by August 24th, then I'll start getting a bit worried.
  16. I'm pretty positive he's making this team if he's healthy and makes it through preseason game 3. Campanaro for 10 games is FAR more valuable than any other guy we have under him for 14 or 16 games. We'll carry 6 (or 7) WR's for a reason, and probably another 1 or 2 on the PS and we'll almost never have more than 3 WR's on the field at once.
  17. Because he's not a "sexy" player. He's a solid starter but he's not a superstar so people hope they can get more out of the unproven guys.
  18. Right, and its highly unlikely anyone would offer anything other than a conditional pick for him due to his injury history. He's worth WAY more on the Ravens then he is to anyone else at this time.
  19. I assume that MANY of these guys would be playing if this was a regular season game and not training camp practice. Last year was not the norm, and some of it has carried over to this year. We have only suffered 1 major injury so far this camp, and it was on a freak accident where someone fell on Kafusi's leg. Let's wait a few more weeks before any panicking kicks in.
  20. Breshad was never expected back this early. Tweet from Jeff Zrbiec the other day: @mwyche22 Reynolds is playing. He hasn't missed practice. Expectation for Perriman was mid-Aug. Not there yet. Not sure on Moore
  21. I've been wondering about Waller, but I actually think I've heard more about Daniel Brown. The silver lining is the team doesn't have to make a decision on Waller (or Boyle) until weeks 4 and 10. I'm excited to see Waller and Daniel Brown play some in pre-season.
  22. No, I believe that's exactly what LWF said. He's not starting next to Mosely. That will either be Orr or KC. McClellan will play SLB (OLB) on running downs when Dumervil comes out, and Z Smith will probably spell Suggs on the other side.
  23. I think Judon was looked at more like an Upshaw kind of player than a Suggs or Dumervil. He'll never be an explosive pass rusher but he could be a solid edge setter and run defender.
  24. Sucks about Kafusi... although if he showed any promise of making plays this year I could see them designated as the Designated To Return guy. Obviously depends on the severity of the break though.
  25. People saying Perriman is a bum are the worst kinds of fans (and also probably the same type fans that were booing the Correa pick during the draft). We were told Perriman would probably be back at SOME point during training camp. No where did anyone ever say the start of training camp.
