We've known for the past year that World War Z would be an adaptation in name only. In spite of that I'm still excited for it because it looks like a zombie movie on a truly epic scale, which I love, and that Brad Pitt has been doing pretty much only quality movies since 2006. The guy has just developed a great eye for scripts. This storyline may seem a bit trite--One man versus the apolcalypse...for his family!--but this looks pretty exciting.
I can understand the decision to switch over to fast-moving zombies. I think that Max Brooks did a great job making his slow-movers work by explaining why an organized military response to them failed, but that's much more difficult to accomplish in a visual medium, so switching to fast-movers just makes sense to up the scare level of the zombies. Plus, using slow-movers is a great way to get compared to George Romero, and such comparisons rarely leave a movie looking good. Even good zombie movies look weak compared to Night of the Living Dead.
While I would love to see a faithful adaptation of World War Z someday because I truly believe it to be one of the best pieces of zombie literature ever made and a great example of how to do the apocalypse right, I refuse to let my love for it taint my excitement for what looks like a pretty exciting movie, and it's not like you can't see a few touchstones in the trailer. I imagine the bus flipping as zombies swarm is the Battle of Yonkers, and it wouldn't be surprising if the assignment Pitt's character is asked to take is heading up the Alpha Teams. I'm pretty psyched for it.
Hopefully, the movie won't be a complete disappointment. The Zombie Survival Guide is a masterpiece in faux non-fiction, I've read it many times. Max Brooks is a great author, so I hope he comes out with something new soon.
It does and it doesn't... the first two are good to watch just to get a sense for who the new 007 is, which does tie into SkyFall.
So you loved the movie as well?
The first Silent Hill was terrible to me. Wondering if anyone's seen the new Bond movie?
Yeah! I'll quote my previous post:
Went to an advanced screening of Skyfall! The movie definitely lives up to the hype! Without giving away spoilers, I'll tell you that the movie explores the issue of the clash before the old and the new, the past and the future, human intelligence ad IT. I can't recommend this movie enough, whether you're a Bond fan, or just a casual moviegoer! Lots of action and social commentary.

Idris Elba will always be "Stringer Bell" to me...
He's being considered to take on the role of James Bond after Daniel Craig's contract expires! He's certainly a capable actor and is well versed in action scripts, having played the eponymous drug lord in "The Wire."
Any one have any recommendations though? Would love to hear them.
You gonna watch Skyfall? It's gonna be great, the scripts for the reboots are excellent!
Love them. I actually didn't think Cannibal Holocaust was that bad. I currently have a ongoing list of 'Most Distirbuting Films' on IMDB, Hoping to add A Serbian Film to it. Here is the list so far:
1. Visitor Q - Film pretty much covers it all.
2. Salo, or the 120 days of Sodom - This filmed paved the way for disturbing
3. Irreversible
4. Antichrist
5. Aftermath - Quick hitting short film
6. The Burning Moon - Most of the film is absolute garbage but the last fifteen minutes is worth it.
7. Martyrs
8. Human Centipede II
9. Begotten
10. Taxidermia
Salo! The film that only Dali could have made.
I am going to watch 'A Serbian Film' tonight. I can do this, because the wife is out of town. Looking forward to it. Anybody else watch it yet?
Yes! What a great gem from the indie industry, and Serbia in particular! Genuinely creepy; it has a movie-within-a-movie plot involving a snuff film, so DO NOT watch unless you can stomach Cannibal Holocaust-type movies. ![]()
I talked to her mother. And threatened to bring in the police the next time it happens since I highly doubt anyone attending is old enough to drink. We live in a state where any underage drinking is heavily punished. I think the kid is grounded for the rest of her life now.
Well, that's good! "Love me or hate me, I promise it won’t make or break me" Lil Wayne
I have an obnoxious teenager living above me who likes to hold incredibly loud all-night parties. Unappreciated, incredibly loud, all-night parties. Yeah.
...26 years old and already pulling the "get off my lawn" card...
That sucks, but don't scapegoat Lil Wayne! Contact the landlord about the problem.
That didnt happen to me once or at all.
I would hope not! I've read stories about people ingesting tapeworms and it's something out of a Lovecraft novel!

Do teenagers actually listen to anyone anymore other than their idiot friends and Lil Wayne?
What does your observation on American adolescents have to do with the lulcat?
Got tickets to the Skyfall premier!! It's going to be great, especially given that it's in IMAX!
Haha, thanks!
The movie 'The Devil Inside' was horrible. If it wasn't for the hot chick in it I would have lost interest, FAST. Not scary or freaky at all. It's set up like a documentary the whole time (Just like paranormal activity, so you know they made a ton of money off it) and it was supposed to be based on a true story. Well I googled it and it turns out to be about 2% real, and 98% fake lol. The ending was so horrible, I don't want to give it away for anyone who wants to see, but it ruined everything for me...Like it literally got me mad haha. I would give it a 4/10. If the girl wasn't so hot it would be a 2. If they had someone like Queen Latifa playing her role I would probably give it a 8, lmao.
Do not pay to see this unless you want to be left with anger and curiousity haha.
I approach most modern horror movies as comedy: full of boundless, unintended humor, what with all the gratuitous gore and the airs they put on. Me and my accomplices definitely yukked it up watching The Devil Inside! ![]()
Straw Dogs. -- Ehhhh, Alright movie. I would give it a 6 / 10. ... 5/10 if I had to pay for it lol.
It was kinda lame because the main dude was such a feminist, wussy the whole time..It got annoying after like 10 minutes.
I wouldn't suggest it to anyone that doesn't have Stars on demand, or are looking for a good movie.
Nice review! Any other movies you've seen worth dissecting?
Fun fact: The film makers were forced to prove the deaths were not real in court.
Yeah, I read about the making, release and subsequent controversy of the film. Ironically, he still got indicted after proving his innocence, but for obscenity instead.
I just watched another screwed-up movie. "Visitor Q" a perverted film by the legendary Takashi Mike. Covers most topics. Incest, Necrophilia, Bullying, Rape, lactation, prostitution and a whole lot of other goodies. Definitely adding it to my most disturbing films list.
I also watched 'Begotten'. Very hard piece to watch. Disturbing, yes. Art, sure. Lots of imagery that you have to know about before watching the film.
Did you watch Cannibal Holocaust? Great special effects and self-hyping if nothing else.

The most adorable kittens ever.
My Dad's been hinting at watching Braveheart, but I just watched that a few weeks ago.
I just read an article about the Battle of Stirling Bridge:
Watched Rise of the Planet of the Apes. The worst part about this movie is the title.
You should watch the original, with Charlton Heston. A real mindbender and very influential on the genre. ![]()
Ed Gein was ehh, so was The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
What do you mean Ed Gein was 'ehh'?! You know he was a real person with real victims, right?
