He is in a similar situation and also coming off injuries. When people start suggesting he should move positions that should be enough of a red flag to pursue for playing his natural position.
To be fair Zuttah, was not a bad center. The real issue was as he continued to age, his strength was not up to the same level it previously had been. This translated to less push in the run game and committing more costly penalties on occasion. As far as a pass protector, he was still playing well. This, to me, comes down to the fact the Ravens want to run the ball like the good old days. Urschel has always played relatively well a C as well, with the biggest knock being about the lack of push in the run game. However when cap dollars come into play, Urschel is much cheaper and younger. He might have even bulked up enough to change some opinions. IMHO this is a smart move, even with a little uncertainty about who the starter is for certain. There is that monster C in the draft too. Just saying.
Boldin makes a lot of sense, but only depending on price. Given the young core of WR they currently have, it may make sense to sign on a cheaper contract knowing he won't necessarily need to take a high number of snaps. Something I would hazard a guess could hold some water at 36. Being a 3rd down man an alternating with the other WR could be a nice fill gap option to really let the youngsters develop and save some tread life for Boldin.
Just because two separate players have declined doesn't make them equal. Their starting points and the amount they declined are independent of the other.

- If Zuttah was THAT bad, how/why does he go to the Probowl (even as an alternate)?
- All offseason we heard strengthening the O-line was paramount. Now we're down 2 starters. How Sway?
Because there's 32 starting centers. 2 won't go because the sb so if enough opt out then yes the 16th rated center is bound to go.
I mean we saw bridgewater and tyrod as pro bowl qbs too
Just don't want it forced.
As always best of luck to him
Matt that's not how you're supposed to get prepared for free agency...

He should rent for multiple reasons. A) his third team in 3-4yrs and B.) he wants to be an oc again
as for frazier shuffling off are you so ignorant that you think he should have stayed as db coach instead of going for DC there. The hatred you guys have for the Ravens must make it easy for you to say such dumb things and think it's valid.
Guess tyrod was done wrong to for going to compete as starter in buffalo instead of staying here

Something fishy going on in the Ravens staff room.....
It's called "expiring contract". The only thing fishy is how some of you want to make every minuscule thing into a conspiracy.

Think he was talking specifically Roman and Castillo

He was an ol coach in philly for over a decade and they were shocked he was promoted to DC
ftr at Wikipedia lists his playing position as linebacker
So your friend works there. Took you on a tour and then you come here to ask questions that should be asked to him.
Is this serious or an attempt to say "I toured the stadium"

Stanley gets hurt. Finally heals up for last 5 weeks and plays great...coincidence?
Just now, ellicottraven said:I think Roman or Denison will come in to become Joe's QB coach. More money invested to get the most out of Joe. Anything to get him playing like a player that earns 20+ M a year! Small investment considering what we're going through as a team.
Appealing but not sure Denison should be willing to be a qb coach. Think he should and will get a shot at oc somewhere

Makes it more plausible.
Doom from two yrs ago is unreplaceable. If there's any doubt he gets back to that we move on. It's being situational that doesn't appeal to me.
Not overly excited by this. Was hoping that either McCoy or Denison get brought in before a decision was made

He chose boller. He's admitted that. Your post making excuses is just stupid
If, and that's a big IF, we moved on from harbaugh it wouldn't be to go backwards and get billick. Offense was his specialty but never performed consistently under him. Winning %age in the regular season and post season is less than harbaugh. Missed the playoffs more under billick.
Being frustrated that we missed the playoffs is no reason to rehire a guy who also struggled to make the Ravens CONSISTENTLY good
1 hour ago, frozen joe flacco fan said:Help people like me understand too! Militant has it right. Jilted lover or not, Pollard's statement is based on personal experience working for John Harbaugh. And your statement is based upon what? Complaint vs. statement? That's irrelevant. What's important is that Bernard Pollard is entitled to his opinion, just like you are. You may be right though. Perhaps John isn't on a hot seat but someone really needs to light a fire under his seat 'cause this team is full of under-achievers. Give him, i.e. John, credit where credit is due though; John is masterful at one thing --- finding scapegoats. Its the "man in the mirror", John. IMHO, 4 of our 6 losses to the Skins, Giants, Cowgirls, Patriots, Jets and Giants were caused by inferior coaching led by guess who, Homer! C'mon man!!

Pollard was let go. Pollard then released statement essentially saying "well I didn't want to play for him anyways".
As for the homer. Lol. Where did I ever say harbaugh was right just that I'll take criticism of harbaugh from guys like Reed, Lewis, osemele over pollard because of one important fact. Harbaugh wanted those guys around.
So again. You get fired from your job because your performance is lackluster. You got on the internet to tell others that the employer is bad. Has less value to any competent thinker than if you quit your job and said it was due to your employer being bad.
Militia not thinking your joke is funny does not mean it wasn't understood
18 minutes ago, Militant X 1 said:Ok Tiz we definitely disagree. Kool! But, you keep using this "ex-gf" analogy. Is everything alright?
I figured it would help people like you understand the difference my apologies if I gave you too much credit.
I will explain why I used it. If you dump someone and they're out and about talking negatively about you it's most likely them saving face. If someone dumps you and are asked about it they're giving their reason for dumping you.
Pollard gets dismissed because he's a jilted lover. Reed and Lewis didn't because they weren't jilted and even went so far to say how the relationship changed. Pollard was the same guy from beginning to end of his career where people had the same complaints about his personality so he's not in a position to say anything about another hc and have it hold value.
Essentially his comments equate to being dumped and then saying "well I didn't wanna date you anyway"
24 minutes ago, Militant X 1 said:Pollard didn't make a "complaint" it was a "statement" based upon his being on the Ravens roster before and having interaction with Harbaugh unlike you or me.
I've always said that Harbaugh "inherited" a team with multiple "player-coaches".
A complaint is done in statement form. Changing from complaint to statement does not change the fact that pollard came across as a dumped and bitter ex-gf.
58 minutes ago, Militant X 1 said:Why is it that when an "ex-Raven" may have something negative to say about Harbaugh it means that he is bitter?
Because Pollard has shown to be bitter. There was nothing in his complaint that actually had fact.
Guy doesn't get re-signed goes on to say Crap shows he's bitter.
Guy is wanted by franchise but CHOOSES to leave then says something is where I'll listen.
To simplify a female who dumps you has valid criticism for why she did it. A female you dumped that keeps talking about you is bitter it's over.

Doing so makes him sound like one of those people that complain about who gets elected president but never bothered to vote. Zero contribution
More of just me ranting
1 minute ago, usmccharles said:Ok, i kind of get what your saying. Its just hard for a team to be so well balanced as most fans want. Sadly, im still stuck in the old Baltimore ways, i want to see 13-7 games, hard hitting, running the ball, but thats not the league anymore.
lol as a Ravens fan that's what we are used to and again if the end results are a "w" it makes the complaining easier to deal with
7 minutes ago, HoldingCall said:Agree or not, there is something to what Pollard said. I recall many fans, including myself questioning why so many vets were being sent packing. Of course, after such a good playoff run, many felt at that time that Joe would make players around great and the Defense simply needed to reload. Some of the coaches left too, which is often overlooked.
There was a big group of players and fans that wanted Rex. That's Rex "soon to be fired again" Ryan. Let's not forget that pollard did not win under anyone but harbaugh nor was he a raven under any one else. His brand of bs is akin to that of an ex gf/bf after being dumped it's completely irrelevant and full of bitterness

If released what's the odds he gets signed for the same amt or more left on his contract?
he keeps his pay and goes to a system/coach who he's familiar with and wants him - win for him.
Sf gets a player that fits their system and can contribute by just moving back in the 6th - win for them.
We move a guy we were gonna cut and move up a bit in the 6th, which adds value in case of trading the pick. - win for us.
