  1. Truth .. And I'm very happy Ozzie paid him as such. I think that's a very fair contract. He's still got the speed to return kicks, and if you keep him fresh on the sideline he can come in on offense and blow the top off when the situation calls for it.
  2. I'm thinking the same. I do really like Clinton-Dix quite a lot .. And obviously the Alabama connection is there. It does worry me to pair a rookie FS with Elam ... I don't know if Ozzie is bold enough to do that.
  3. Yes, this is the crux of it. I'd love to have a guy like that in the locker room to provide that leadership. Imo, there is no question he could transition to FS. He did show signs of losing a step in the divisional game in Denver during our run thankfully .. But that was Torrey just burning up the field lol.
  4. Not that I don't believe Champ could come in a be a solid FS here. But he and Ed Reed are the same age .. So all things considered, I don't see us bringing in Champ to attempt to play FS, When we let the all time great leave.
  5. Slightly different though. Suggs was in his final year; Haloti is not. Also, my gut feeling is Haloti retires after his contract so he wants no extra years. I won't ever fault a guy for sticking to the contract that he signed.
  6. A lot of fans seemingly would rather find another LT to replace him rather than pay him upwards of 10m. We do have 26m in space (give or take). Haven't we tried this since JO retired and failed? Keep it simple. Sign the proven commodity in Monroe and let the other chips fall where they may. We'll find cheaper talent at other positions .. But I'd rather invest in a franchise LT first and foremost.
  7. Monroe was thrown into a very dysfunctional offensive line though. We can agree they had zero chemistry. We'll have Monroe and Osemele solidify that left side, and build chemistry through training camp. That could be a dominating force, especially under a new and improved scheme.
  8. He's definitely not, and we need to add a skilled guy at the pick as well. When we have the chance to solidify the LT for the first time in 5 years, we have to. We can't have another year of Flacco taking that kind of beating
  9. Unless Taylor Lewan fell to us at 17, I don't see a LT that could step in and start from day 1. Factoring in the 2 picks we gave away for Monroe, then the 1 we'd use on another LT. I can't see Ozzie taking that loss on the chin without giving a real effort to keep Eugene.
  10. Art Jones a no brainer at 5mil? Hmm .. Not so sure, to be honest. I love the guy, he's a good player. But what has he really done to command that kind of $?
  11. No question he's the better player. Especially in the long-term. By the sounds of it Art could command upwards of 5m a season somewhere; we will not be paying him that.
  12. Absolutely. After all the talk of an 'heir' to Lewis for many years. Smith came in out of nowhere and played at a phenomenal level all season, it was almost seamless. He'd stay over Art Jones, imo.
  13. Me neither, being that he's a 31 year old LB and still not a big name, I don't see a team out there to break the bank on him. He's best suited in Baltimore and both sides know it. With this potential boost in cap space, he stays.
  14. I know right? We just locked him up for 4 years and they were generally negative in questions about age and health and production. I'll never understand the mentality of the media to tend to be so negative.
  15. We need Pitta to stay badly. I think both he and the front office know what they have, what type of player he is. I have a good feeling we'll lock him up to a fair long term deal for both sides.
  16. Monroe is crucial to this offense, and overall team success. We simply can't afford to lose him. Giving Oher franchise Lt $$ would never be worth it, regardless how much I do love the guy. We need Monroe as our Franchise LT in so many ways, that it truly affects everything this off-season. Signing him to a long-term deal gives us stability at LT that we haven't had since Ogden. I'm not saying he is JO, but he is a LT that is consistent, and durable that will stay in the lineup and play at a high level. IF we can't retain him, it changes the entire draft philosophy. And I think, everyone here knows that we need a 1st round caliber pass catcher to move forward successfully. PS. Not sure why everyone thinks Pitta will expect some massive contract? When you dissect his numbers, it simply doesn't warrant big time money. And trust me, I love, and want to keep Pitta as much as anyone. But we need to be reasonable.
  17. Suggs can still play the game at a high level as an all around solid OLB. We need to keep this guy. To lose Lewis, Reed and Suggs in consecutive off seasons is really too much. Sizzle brings that Ravens style of football confidence or 'swagger' that Ray Lewis built. He's the only guy left from the old guard and I know for sure, all the young guys coming in (Like an Elam) see that and feed off of it. The market out there for Suggs in Free Agency would be ok, not great. I think he and the FO know that. Best situation for both parties is to keep our man in Baltimore where he belongs.
  18. Greatest blocking WR I've ever seen, especially when WR's are notorious for not being overly eager to block. Anquan has delivered some vicious blocks over the course of his career (none of us will forget 4th & 23). You can't replace that, the man is a tone setter.
  19. Pitta is a TE, an inside presence. He's a very solid security blanket for Flacco, that can't even be disputed. What I'm talking about is an outside, vertical receiver. Very different, and an odd place to bash Pitta, to be honest.
  20. It's simple. We need a Brandon Marshall/Alshon Jeffrey sized guy. Speed isn't my main concern. I feel we need a guy who can go up and high point the ball over defenders. And, most importantly, a guy with good hands to catch the ball. These guys don't grow on trees, but this is what we need.
  21. His running game design would fit here perfectly. I just think getting out of his Dad's shadow, and coming here, Kyle would really flourish. He's young and already has a decent amount of experience.
  22. I just saw the Kyle Shanahan has been fired. That is a guy that I would not mind interview to be our OC. I've seen a lot of creativity in his offense (despite their struggles this year, not entirely his fault obviously). Any thoughts on that potential?
  23. I do see that angle, it is incredibly valuable, (Del Rio in Denver). I'm really just saying strictly for OC, I want a young fresh hungry mind. Harbaugh has my confidence, but if the unforeseeable happened, a guy like Pee's would be able to man the ship.
  24. My thoughts exactly. All too often we've seen deep shots on 1st/2nd down and then we end up in 3rd and 10 with zero confidence of having made a completion. It's exciting hitting those deep balls, but they are always low percentage and boom or bust. There is very few plays designed to create quick hits and YAC.
  25. I don't want any established HC or OC that has been in the league, personally. I want to see us get a College OC who can bring us into the new age of offenses, a guy who knows the young players coming into this league now, and moving forward. I have limited knowledge of College coaches, but a guy like Pep Hamilton has a very nicely creative offense in Indy.
