  1. I agree to a point! The defense have major problems and they stink most of the time, but the problems today didn't appear until the offense stopped putting up points. They were up 21-9 then came the lull until the Browns gained the lead. Cleveland did not score 13 unanswered points without the offense getting the ball.

Then there is the 3 and out in OT before the defense gets on the field. This loss is on both sides, and the Browns took the game the Ravens offered to them.

Maybe it's because we've been spoiled by past defenses but I am surprised that in this day of new offensive friendly NFL, that some are using points scored as a justification to blame it all on defense. The team lost!

Marlon Brown was the #2 receiver and had 1 catch for 0 yards. Chris Givens had 0 catches. Jeremy Ross was signed from the PS. Darren Waller got hurt.

Seriously think about the product the Ravens put out on offense yesterday.

  2. I don't think Flacco played bad at all. This guy is just as much the default scapegoat around here as Dean Pees, but Flacco actually does win us football games. He's had his bad games and he's made bad throws, but nobody is perfect and I've seen every QB have issues throwing the ball in some fashion. Joe may not be the greatest QB in the world, but I do like him and I do think he's a very talented QB we're lucky to have. I feel our inferiority complex resulting from years of having an absence at QB to be revolting. All we do around here is talk about Flacco's contract, but it's hard to argue that he's what's holding this team back financially. Rice, Pitta, Monroe, Webb, & other guys who haven't lived up to their deals are the ones who have hurt this team financially & competitively.

Flacco had a good game. He wasn't bad out there and he's far from the reason we lost this game. In fact, I'd argue that he isn't the reason we lost any game this year. The only game I truly place at the onus of the offense was the first game, but outside of that, the offense has gotten better and actually improved. The defense has only gotten exponentially worse.

The point is that the Ravens lost this game against the Browns because of the defense. There's no doubt. Is the offense good enough to carry the defense? Nope. Perhaps it's time we re-evaluate the identity of this team and determine if we should become more like the Patriots with a dominant offense but a not-so-dominant defense. Oh, and deflated footballs. Gotta have deflated footballs.

I've come to feel bad for the guy.   Here's out there with LITERALLY practice squad receivers, and guys that wouldn't be on the field for any other good team.   And even Waller gets hurt.   You don't even have your starting TE who's only starting because your starting starting TE's career is more or less over.   All he's really got on the field to even help him out is Justin Forsett and even he got hurt.

AND YET........30 points with all that.   Including him fooling the Browns and his own team for a TD himself, one of 2.   30 freaking points.    And the defense lets Josh McCown throw for 457 yards on them!

AND YET we've got people here that have to scroll through the play by play to say ERMAGERD FLACCO SUCKS HE MISSED THAT ONE THROW!   HE MAKES SO MANY MISTAKERS!! GRRRRRRRRR!

It's amazing to me.    I feel bad for him.   He probably knows he got the team in position to win yet another game, the defense loses the game, and there will be a segment of the fanbase who will actually blame him and say he isn't any good.   Or a "chump" as we've seen here.

    This city sometimes.........  :(

BTW:  49'ers lose again.  Torrey Smith, 2 catches for 42 yards.   9 catches for 185 yards and 1 TD FOR THE SEASON so far.    Hope that money was worth it Torrey.

  3. if he where on the ravens for the past 8 years he would still been as a much better QB then flacco is right now.

given our strong defense and running game back them we might have won more SBs....

So you are suggesting that Lee Evans would have magically caught that pass in the endzone?

  4. We obviously picked the wrong QB.

We laugh, but look at Tyrod.  Not a great QB, but he obviously learned quite a bit sitting behind Flacco and working with him and the various coaches here.   He grew here and seems to be able to pass just fine in Buffalo.

My only point here is that there IS something to be said to sit behind a winning QB for years.

  5. As I've said before Joe's inconsistencies are a product of the people around him.  Let's be honest NO OTHER QB in the league goes through as many OC's and QB Coaches as he does.

In fact, right now without looking it up can you tell me who Joe's current QB coach is?

Steve Smith has been great.   But wouldn't it have been nice to have kept Anquan Boldin, and just paid him his contract?   That would have been a big help.   Of course Torrey Smith after flashing his smile and saying "I'm keeping the fact I live in Baltimore a factor in my decision too.........how much?   Nevermind B-more I'm out......peace", he's gone.   Fun fact, he has all of 7 catches for 131 yards and 1 touchdown so far this season.   Enjoy playing with Colin Kapernick dude, you earned it.

Not his own fault, but what would he be like if he had Pitta on the field healthy these last couple years?  Now he's working with yet ANOTHER new set of rookie TE's and Crockett Gillmore.

Against the Browns Flacco's WR's will be Kamar Aiken as the #1 (let that sink in for a minute), Marlon Brown, Waller, and maybe this new guy Chris Givens who we got for a bag of footballs.   And we still don't know if Eugene Monroe will be ok next week.

ALL THAT, and Flacco still manages to keep the Ravens in games and put us in position to win them.   Including finally the defense stopping Pittsburgh and us beating them Thursday night.

My biggest issue is that he goes through all that, has to run for his life, never has open receivers, and then he gets a ton of crap because THE ONE TIME that someone happens to suprise the other team and probably our own and finds his way open Joe misses the pass.  Somehow he gets judged on THAT.    It's crazy.

Anyway, that's my rant.  I bet Joe Flacco having a gamechanging receiver on this team like the other great QB's get to have and this thread doesn't even exist.

  6. When has a team ever fired a coach who never had a losing season and that worked out for them?

When has a team ever fired a coach who has been to the playoffs 6 out of 7 years and that worked out for them?

Harbaugh is 73-43.   7 wins away from tying Brian Billick which means barring a collapse he will likely be the winningest coach in franchise history by ther end of this year a year less than Billick was coach.  Obviously his message isn't that stale.

How are we honestly contemplating Harbaugh being on the hot seat or his job being in jeopardy because of the possibility he may have a losing season while having to field a team with a severe lack of playmaker talent?

    Sigh.
