For weeks we criticized the offense for going conservative with a lead.  Now we want someone's head because they didn't.  Yes, it was boneheaded, but it sure wasn't conservative.

When you're that close, you don't turn the ball over. You have to come away with points, even if it's a FG.  West and Dixon were having pretty good days, run the ball.  But if you decide to throw, stay away from the middle where all the traffic is.

Flacco had 324 yards 2 TDs 1 INT. He was moving the ball down the field. It was the defense that gave up a huge play then couldnt get off the field when blount was getting the ball yet people blame Joe?

Defense and special teams lost this game.

Overall though we played one of the best teams in the league and made it competitive when it should have been a blow out.

Not really!  They didn't have a single TD drive greater than 20 yards.  Two TDs came by ST miscues by the Pats inside their own 20 yard line.

Just saw this reported on ESPN:

    Jamison Hensley ESPN Staff Writer

It was an emotional Thursday at Ravens headquarters, from Steve Smith throwing his helmet to coach John Harbaugh's emotional end-of-practice talk to the team. "You have to understand, we're all a little messed up," LB Terrell Suggs said. "It was an emotional loss (at New England). We really wanted that one. We're just a little edgy. But I think it's good to be a little edgy in December."

Not sure if this is a good sign or a bad sign.  I could see it going either way.  This emotion could spark them or it could mean the team starts to unravel.  Hopefully, they come out firing vs. the Eagles!

Reminds me of the so called "mutiny" when Pollard was on the team right before the team went on a Superbowl run.  We could only be so lucky, if a few bruised egos led them to the promise land.

Congrats to them.. they simply out-coached us.

    GOOD
    Dixon and Juice´s elusiveness.
The use of Waller in the red-zone.

    BAD
    Jimmy´s injury.
Zuttah. I was watching the game in German, as I moved to the würstels´ land, and didn´t get to understand why was Urshel replacing him at one point (maybe I was too tired to even see an eventual injury)

    UGLY:
    Joe checkdowns as 1st-2nd option.
At this point it´s hard to tell whether our offensive inconsistencies are caused by the playcall, Joe being scared/conservative or a mix of both.

Zutta was out bc they thought he was concussed.  He passed the concussion protocol and came back in to play.

OK, 3 realistic paths to the playoffs (only 1 of which is guaranteed)

    GUARANTEED PATH

-Beat Eagles at home, beat Steelers and Bengals on road, WIN DIVISION

    2nd Path

-Bengals beat Steelers, Ravens beat Steelers and one of Eagles/Bengals. WIN DIVISION

    3rd Path

-Win any 2 of next 3, Dolphins lose twice (@ Jets, @ Bills, vs. Patriots)....Denver loses twice (vs. Patriots, @ Chiefs, vs. Raiders)  WILDCARD

---the sad part about this scenario is that we now have to root for the Patriots! But then we can take them down in Foxboro when it counts!

IRT your 3rd path, the Pats will probably be in a position to rest their starters in their last game vs MIA.

Ok contributing factor to Elam being on the field

if jimmy doesn't go done - wright goes to outside, tavon goes to cover powers spot, Webb stays where he is and Elam is never on the field.

its ok though, hope you felt better pointing out how wrong I am

    have a nice day

Plus Elam has played this season while J. Smith was on the field. So why did he play in those games when all of our CBs were healthy?

    yeah and no

just going to copy n paste this from my comments in the good bad ugly thread

my point exactly, our problem with our secondary is we're depending on a guy who is injury prone - only reason elam was on the field tonight

need to move on, not totally but we need to build our secondary thinking jimmy will not play - we need to add a #1 corner and i would look to add another corner who can play slot but ok if called to go outside in a pinch

we look like - new #1 corner, #2 Jimmy, Tavon slot, - backups - wright, canady, another slot corner not powers

when Jimmy smith gets injured because he will, its just a matter of when

#1 corner stays where he is, tavon either bounces out or stays in the slot, wright, canady, draft pick comes in

2014 injured, 2015 injured, 2016 looks like were going down the same road

stop crossing your fingers and hoping injury prone guys will stop being injured, go out and get help

Wrong.  Elam was on the field bc Powers had to leave due to a concussion.  They moved Webb to the slot corner and Elam took Webb's spot.
