  1. I know it's slow and probably hard to come up w/ new ideas for articles for BR.com, but one thing I would like to read and I think would be a good idea is to write articles on the position coaches.  We rarely hear/read anything about them unless it's bad play from their players at their respective position.  For example, an article about our TE's coach and his path to the Ravens, I think would be a good read.

  2. Looks like Steelers are bringing back Polamalu and Harrison.

    Great Players -

A good move for fans? Absolutely. A good move to staying competitive in AFCN? Competitive yes...Dominate...not so much.

With both player's declining in production (although a slow decline) while other teams are getting younger in positions that directly challenge their's - it seems like a good opportunity for others to expose and attack their decline.

    Update - Bengals Signings/Resignings

    Rey Maualuga, LB

    Mike Nugent, K

    Clint Boling, OG

    Eric Winston, OT

    Chris Lewis-Harris, CB

    A.J. Hawk, LB

    Michael Johnson, DE

    Devon Still, DT

    Brandon Ghee, CB

Harrison truly found the fountain of youth last year, unlike Troy P.  He single handedly killed us the 2nd time we played them last season.  I can see why they signed him up for 2 more years.

  3. Don't forget Elam never played strong safety much of all this year he didn't get to marinate at his position like his rookie year were he had 77tackles I believe when we get Terrence brooks back he needs to be stuck at one postion as well too and not moved all over the defense

I don't care what position Elam played. He's a defensive player who's tackling sucked last season. When Ozzie calls you out for your bad play during the State of the Ravens Address, that says a lot!

  4. Danell Ellerbe is a likely cap cut by the dolphins. If he is we should seriously consider bringing him back!! Some fans forget how good he is. He didn't play with same fire with dolphins whose defense shows no attitude!! But he was awesome in Baltimore. He has safety speed and athleticism and is physical and explosive and he hits like a savage when he plays for the ravens. I was at the AFC championship game January 2013 and Patsie fans were petrified of Ellerbe more than Lewis. One way or another I'm for replacing Daryl Smith. I think we could get a Round5-6 pick for him considering we are paying part of his salary and he still is a good LB. Its just he has clearly lost a half step and is way on the wrong side of 30!! I know some fans will be angry at the idea of trading a good player but if the Ravens don't replace Smith now when the opportunity is there, the Ravens will be going into the off season next year at this time with 3 aging LBsLBs all well over 30 whose play could fall off as early as next year. We could be talking bout Smiths and Suggs down year next draft season. And Dumervil as well will be 32 and he is the youngest of the bunch. I think Dumervil will have another very productive year next year but scenario is of all of the older LBs having off years and showing their age has to be taken in consideration. Finding legit replacements for Suggs and Smith would be enough of a challenge!!

If not Ellerbe then Sean Weatherspoon and Daryl Washington should be seriously considered in my opinion. They all would be bargains for various reasons but either would make a ferocious 3 down tandem with Mosley. I would lean towards Washington or Weather spoon cuz they are 26 and 27 while Ellerbe will be 29 next year. However at 29 he is still is in his prime and he has experience with the Ravens. So any of them would be a winner to pair up with Mosley. It would give the ravens 2 instinctful and physical 3 down LBs with the athleticism speed and cover skills of many hard hitting strong safety's. They can cover TEs and RBs man up and patrol zones over the middle like 2 extra hard hitting Safety's. Then if we add a Michael Bennett or Grady Jarett in the draft and that's the most ferocious and active front7 in the NFL!!

Why bring Ellerbe back when you have D. Smith, CJ Mosely, and Arthur Brown?

    This got a +1

What the hell is wrong with you people?

Dude, I stop paying attention to  -  and +  a long time ago.  It will truly have you scratching your head, trying to figure out people's thought process.  LOL.

  6. I would have except these are the bunch of people using journalists to lobby to keep Art Modell out of the HOF. I no longer carry any sympathy for them.

Karma can be cruel. As far as I'm concerned, that is what they're receiving.

I refuse to paint all their fans with a wide brush.   You have good ones and bad ones in every fan base, Ravens included.

  7. Really? I've always strongly disliked Browns fans over the interweb.

I know every fan base has rotten eggs and it's not fair to generalize but I've seen countless experiences where they're on par with Patriot/49ers fans as far as embarrassingly classless.

That can be said about any fan base.  I'm sure there are some Ravens fans that would embarrass us by their actions.

  8. We should try to get younger. That said cb- cary williams, jonathan joseph, or leon hall would be my picks.  Also get a free safety somehow.  We should fix all our holes through free agency and then get the best player available.

I'll pass.  I don't know if it was the money, but he turned into a total loose cannon and a hot head after joining the Eagles.  He publically threw Chip Kelley under the bus and has made many dumb comments to the media.  Leave him in Philly!!

  9. From a salary cap perspective, I can't see Ozzie with a backup QB that's not still on his rookie contract.

A veteran backup QB will hit against the cap way more than what the front office wants.

  10. Yes, he could very likely be one and done.

But as I've said before, if we are exclusively in the business of only hiring coaches that we think will stay for a long time, we very likely aren't hiring the best coach we can get, and our offense will likely suffer from it.

My general rule of thumb is... the coaches that stay with teams for a long time are often the coaches that you DON'T want to stay here for a long time, or your team simply isn't doing very well.

Or coaches who have no desire to be a HC, content in their assistant roles.  There are a few of them out there.
