  1. it is essentially impossible for a TE to win OROY, its just the nature of the position. not only is it hard to win OROY, but the transition to the NFL is a brutal one at that position, the best college standouts tend to have average rookie seasons and show struggles, maxx wont be immune to the nature of the position, it doesnt help that he has average at best size and speed, he doesnt have a crutch to rely on for an advantage, he has to win with hands and technique, he has the hands for sure, and how quickly he develops that technique will determine how quickly he becomes a stud. we gotta temper our expectations here or else we will have a few people calling him a bust by midseason.

    well said Joey, agree 100%

Another factor hurting his chances of such a title is having all these targets for Flacco to throw to alone with a solid run game. Having the potential of such a balanced attack limits one persons stats but strengthens the team as a whole

  2. Sounding like the popularity among us Ravens fans of getting Welker is right up there with wishing the Steelers a good season and having a root-canal done.

    Sounds about right lol

Funny that we are already debating which of our young talented WR's we should keep and some genius decides to write an article like this? I know we have limited vet experience in a couple areas but until they fail in training camp or preseason... I am happy with what we have now

  3. Really wanna hear the same thing about the secondary once the pads are on and or throughout preseason. During the OTA's the WR's get no press or have to worry about getting pummeled after the catch. Stay healthy and I don't see a team we couldn't beat, just gotta limit rookie/new system mistakes

  4. When everything is said and done, we'll end up with the best stable of TEs in the entire NFL. Better than every other team including the Pats.

And in a system that utilizes them as much as can be expected at least. With all the potential weapons on offense... gonna be tough getting the ball to everyone. Nice problem to have for a change

  5. There offense will be amazing but playoff games typically are not shootouts and there defense is mediocre at best and will likely mean they lose a game 45-30 in the playoffs because most playoff teams have decent defenses.

As for the Broncos I would not sleep on them just because Manning was hurt last year and didnt play as well.  I will believe Manning is on the decline when he does not play well when healthy but I dont question Hall of Fame QBs until they start playing bad when healthy.

The Patriots are a team that on offense will be the Patriots and on defense I have no idea what they are planning.  I know they will certainly get pressure on the QB but you cant get pressure every single down and they dont have there top 3 corners from last year but then again they released the 3rd willingly so they must have some confidence in there depth at that position.

In the AFC North I am fairly confident that the Bengals are taking a step back but I dont really know what to expect of the Steelers (or Ravens).  The Steelers have the potential to be way better but they also have a lot of the same problems that got them knocked out of the playoffs in the first place so they could be 12-4 or 9-7 and neither one would surprise me all that much.  As I said earlier I am hesitant to pick against HoF QBs and Ben is on his way to becoming one of those.

Lastly for the Ravens they have a lot of potential questions that if they hold up how the front office hopes they will they will be great but there are about 5 key things the Ravens need to have go there way.

    1.  They need Perriman to be able to fill Torrie's role fairly quickly otherwise they will be fairly thin at reciever with a ton of number 3 recievers but no real 1 or 2 outside of an aging Steve Smith whos snaps they want to limit to keep him at full force come playoff time.

    2.  Will Pitta return and if not Can Maxx Williams fill that void otherwise you have the same problem as the one at WR?

    3.  Can Timmy fill Ngata's role over the course of an entire season?  Unlike the first 2 questions he has played in the NFL but being a starter is way different then being a situational player.

    4.  Who will fill McPhee's role as the 3rd great pass rusher for the defense?  A lot of the options for this are again players who have either limited or no NFL experience so projecting is not a sure thing by any stretch  I am less worried if they are unable to fill this role but in the NFL you want to have 2 great outside pass rushers and someone from the inside to make the same mess if you want to have an elite pass rushing unit

    5.  Can the Ravens top 2 corners who now both have an injury history stay healthy for the entire season but after Arrington the depth is still rather shaky and in many cases it has its own injury history.

Honestly if the Ravens can answer yes to 2 of those questions I think they win the division and if they answer yes to 4 of them I think they are the favorites to win the AFC because I think most of the top teams took either a step back or didnt address the right areas in the offseason.

1- Have a hard time believing that one or two of our young wr's don't show up considering the talent the group has (not vets but all hungry). I think we got wr covered personally

2- I think Pitta will play but even if he doesn't we have a lot of talent in our receiving group (TE's included). I think #2 is covered also

3- Jerrigan isn't Ngata but he's a handful and when you add the others in our D-line unit... I'm not at all worried about them

4- I see a few players getting pressure besides our olber's (Jerrigan, Smith, Davis, maybe even my boy Williams)

5- Can't see both of them go down again but wouldn't say someone couldn't get injured... ya never know but I don't expect 5 CB's to go down this year

So, I do see us getting into the playoffs and then some... time will tell I guess

  6. I think his drops in college were overblown.  It was stated many times they were concentration drops and not fundamental drops.

Sad that I'm not just rooting for Perriman to succeed to silence rival fans and see the team shine but also to hush certain ravens fans that are convinced that he's a bust before his career even started.

  7. Arthur brown appears thicker through the chest and arms.

Not much being said about Maxx......

Got me thinking... Really didn't see any news on A Brown. Would love to see him bulk up and maintain the speed he has but as others have said...I think it's more about learning (imo) and being stuck behind one hell of a mlb duo

  8. Jernigan will terrorize the front line of opposing offenses game in and game out. He is the quintessential pitbull! Timmy "Pitbull" Jernigan! How do you guys like it?

From someone that has 2 pitbulls... I always thought of Yanda as the pitbull. Goes against most thoughts of the breed but when playing, I've seen mine smack his head on the table HARD and act like nothing happened but can't see that title sticking to Yanda so I'll go with whatever the mass agrees to.

The benefit for Jerrigan reaching that goal is that everyone will be watching to see how we fair without Ngata, if we maintain or improve somehow... he should get recognition.

  9. Aiken is going to be a household name. Do you know why? Because he'll be a fantasy football star! If you are good at racking up fantasy points in this day and age, you go to the probowl. Not otherwise regardless of how great you are. Case in point - Joe Flacco.

    agree 100%

Sad that being on a balanced team (run/pass) causes players to go un-recognized
