  1. Good game but everyone know that getting to Flacco and causing him to fear the rush efffectively shuts down the ravens offense. Dallas won't have a bit of a problem making Flacco so afraid that he probably doesn't complete half his passes, suffers a major blow out and will probably have to change his pants IF we don't find a way to fix this line. I made the comment that we have a bunch of old guys up front and we are paying the high wages of the old guys and letting quality new guys walk. We can't afford to do that anywhere on this team. Where would we be if we kept KO, OR Kyle Long would have been a great backup addition to have but although he was signed elsewhere, we argued over his knee and now we have no backup save THE flacco-killer. The Ravens FO has become procrastination central. When solutions come up they make up an excuse why it won't work , its a little hot and we will wait something will eventually pop-up. So we wait and something else comes along but its a little too cold so Ozzie says no. And then something else comes along and its too hard, or too soft, or too whatever. Sounds like Goldilocks (Goldislost). Nothing is ever just right to pick up a good quality player but we can turn down good food from the table to go dumpster diving for talent. Sorry for the metaphors, just am out of ways to say this team needs to add quality pieces and if the QB has to take a paycut for that to happen so be it. The best QBs in the league have all done that when the team needed to add key pieces. We've shown we can win, now lets go out and get the pieces to nail down a post season spot. We are now past the trade deadline so the only thing we can pick up at this point since the boat already sailed on trading for quality players, is the dumpster of refugee players that can't make it on other teams. All the diamonds in the rough are gone Ozzie, you blew the chance to make the team better until the next draft. Think Ozzie either has too many or the wrong people whispering in his ear.
  2. Love Yanda, he epitomizes what it means to be a Raven. What more can you say, the guy is great, but he is getting old. We have to look at what we are doing in the way of older players and had we kept KO and let Yanda walk, with his injuries, we would have looked like geniuses again like when we let Ngata walk and he hasn't played in the majority of games in just one season since leaving the Ravens. There are many others who fit that bill as well, but the Ravens decided to be loyal to Yanda, which I think had they cut Yanda I would have been one of the biggest complainers (which is why I say it is hindsight). But in reality, KO is having an incredibly good year as would be expected from a player his age and abilities. Had KO stayed and Yanda left, we would be quite a different team. Would we put KO out at left tackle or would we have still gotten stanley? Could have been Stanley, KO, Zuttah, Lewis and Wagner, not bad. OR KO, Urshel, Zuttah, Lewis and Wagner. Not as good but OK, but if we didn't get Stanley, would we have moved up and gotten Ramsey then instead. That definitely puts Ramsey opposite Jimmy Smith with Tavon Young in the slot which is a dynamite secondary. We lose a little on the O-Line but gain drastically in the secondary. Many different ways to slice this up but Yanda has had ongoing shoulder problems for years, I thought he had surgery in the offseason, but maybe not, but what does that mean for the future and is he going to end up being another player who can't play that eats up dead money from the Cap.
  3. We are in week 9 now and I wonder what the Ravens are waiting on with Dumervil. Even if he was healed he hasn't played in a year and if he tries to play will pull something and be done for the season. Willing to bet - Dumervil doesn't make it back and if it does he doesn't last a week before he is injured and inactive the following week. Time to move on guys.
  4. Love our Ravens and love our Ravens defense. Twice our defense has gotten us to the promised land and we can win if Marty can get Joe's footwork and mechanics back to where Kubiak had them. Why do I say that? Qadry Ishmael made an interesting point on the TV yesterday (and I played it back a couple times just to be sure I heard this), He said that Kubiak was always on Flacco and made him accountable for his mechanics and follow through. He said when Trestman came and was more laid back and wasn't pushing Joe, Joe slacked off which led to his drop in numbers and horrible mechanics. If you have listened to Marty recently he has been pounding the message "getting back to details" and "execution" and I believe from what I gathered from what Ishmael said, that Marty is starting to push Joe and starting to make him accountable for his work and work ethic. I hate to think after 9 years and 120 million dollars that Joe needs a babysitter to keep him focused and working hard, but that is what I gathered from what I heard. No one knows what goes on behind closed doors at the castle, but that certainly explains alot of things including Joe's play with Kubiak here and how it dropped off so much after Kubiak left, even before the injury.
  5. Funny ha ha......no he is the dude that in "2014" had 17 sacks. Last year, yes, he fell "off" because Suggs was out for the year. Wow.....the guy misses some time and people are ready to write him off. Harsh crowd around here. Some time isn't 9 games and when players make that much, yes we expect something out of them more than half way into the year. Michael Campanaro went on IR in the preseason, got cut with an injury settlement, came back, resigned and is now playing and Elvis is still dealing with his stubbed toe. Clearly someone checked out on the team he thought wasn't going to be very good and perhaps it is time to just go ahead and cut the cord. I think Eugene Monroe put more effort into playing this year than Dumerville did. Judon is progressing very nice and filling his spot quite well and since this is the last year on Dumervilles contract it looks like he is getting himself ready for the next team he plays for.
  6. Every Ravens fan has to expect a close game. First, the Ravens are notorious for playing down to the skill level of their opponents, they are notorious for getting caught in trap games and they are beaten down physically after playing the Steelers. In addition, with the rules the way they are, favoring the offense now, it is almost impossible for the Browns not to score 14 points. Since the Ravens average less than 20 points a game, that seems to indicate that, if lucky, we will win by about 6. I lean more towards a 3 point win and that happening on a late Justin Tucker kick to win the game. Flacco is not well both psychologically and physically and although he is physically capable of walking out on the field and playing, I have to wonder if Mallett isn't a better choice based on health, injuries, Flacco's fear of the rush, throwing off his back foot and his lack of production. If both qbs were healthy, then surely Flacco wins, but based on how Flacco's skills have decreased and Malletts have increased (based on resolving some personal issues he had with alcohol off the field) that if Mallett isn't a better choice, then it is a coin toss. I hate the fact that we are starting Flacco because we paid him 120 million. I absolutely believe that if Mallett and Flacco made the same amount of money, based on how Joe has stunk it up this year, Mallett would get a shot. There is something wrong with that. Skill and leadership should be the sole deciding factors and money should have nothing to do with it.
  7. I think its important to remember through the tough times that we are fans of the Ravens. I hear a lot of people that sound like they would rather support another team. I remember hearing exactly the same thing in 2012 when we lost a couple games in a row. Perhaps we should appreciate what has happened and where we are as we encourage our team to get better. I think hating people, being sick of them and that we suck, sounds like someone who would be better suited supporting a team that is perfect all the time. We have 2 super bowls in less than 2 decades and a QB coming of a serious knee injury. Ben had a minor injury to his knee and how well did he play yesterday? He wasn't as good as Joe, he threw 4 balls that should have been interceptions, our defense just can't catch, and until we went into prevent zone with a 21 - 0 lead Ben could do nothing. I was there when the 2000 Ravens defense got us a super bowl after no TD's after 5 games and I was there in 2012 when the defense got us into the playoffs where Flacco shined. Looked at Flacco's stats. This is who he is, who he has always been except for when he is in the playoffs. We have always leaned on our defense. If our defense gets there and Flacco comes alive in the playoffs, I can see you bandwagon fans just piling on.
  8. As bad as Stanley was, did you see what Hurst did when he came in as a blocking Tight End? Yeah, me neither and based on Hurst's previous starts, a bad Stanley is better than the best Hurst.
  9. Ben had a minor knee issue and look at how he played when he came back. He missed a whopping two weeks. Flacco had a major injury on the two most important ligaments in his knee and just came back before training camp after missing 26 weeks. Of players who had suffered this injury before, most need a full year to completely recuperate. Where I agree Flacco has been horrific, perhaps he needs to sit and heal a little more both physically and psychologically. Granted, I feel these issues go further than his knee, but just based on history, he shouldn't have been expected to be highly productive at this point.
  10. Flacco is not right. I tweeted many times during the game yesterday that Flacco is not right both mentally and physically. On the Aiken catch for a first down where he bobbled it, Joe called an audible at the line, the players switched formation and 3 guys to the right were still moving out to their spots when Joe snapped the ball (illegal shift penalty). He knew he wasn't going over there with the pass so he never even bothered to look. No rush on the play clock, still had 10 seconds on it. He didn't even care enough to look to his right to see if his players were set. Then the following play he inexcusably just chucks the ball up in the air, across his body, to the middle of the field where there was one Dennis Pitta and 4 defenders in the area. Joe either will not or can not focus on the things that are important and make good decisions for whatever reason. The Ravens have a huge 120 million dollar problem. Out of 32 starting QB's, Flacco ranks in the bottom 4. You can't pay 120 million dollars to a player that plays like Joe is playing because you need that extra money for pieces around him to be successful. The FO has a very hard decision to make. Perhaps Joe will come around before the end of the year but I doubt it. Word is out on Flacco now. He can't operate under pressure and the knee injury just makes him that much more scared in the pocket. He just chucks the ball up in the air. Every team knows he is so slow in reaction time that even when blitzed he can't pick up the open guy and get the ball out, he just falls down. We can stick our heads in the sand and pretend these issues will go away and Joe will become a superstar somehow, or we can do something to fix it. Certainly next year there has to be a contract modification where a lot of his money is tied to incentives. Just like the play with Aiken, he is not paying attention, he is not focused and he is lackadaisical in his approach and that happened after the paycheck and after the injury. I would sit him down and ask him, does he want to play football, if so, then no more of this stupid stuff or Mallett is coming in.
  11. My 5 things down and dirty. O-Line - Give Flacco the time he needs to be successful. Pundits say he needs help around him to be successful but with a good O–Line he has always been good enough with limited resources. Pressure - Any QB is less productive when pressured. qBs just coming off knee surgery are less mobile and more susceptible to the rush (and re-injury). Coverage - After re-watching the Bills game, if Wright can refind the form he had during that game, we will have what we need in the back end. Let's hope Elam can finally replace Webb. Run Game - We can't have a 6 attempt 10 yard game. With the O-Line back, West well rested and Dixon get healthier everyday we need to stick with the run even if it means three and outs. Eventually we will break a couple against this defense and they will have to commit a safety to the box. Flacco - Joe needs to be able to get over the fear of hanging in the pocket and stepping into his passes. A healthy O-Line helps with that but there was a play in the last game where Joe thought he had pressure from his left that didn't exist and he looked like a fool falling over to his right and throwing the ball into the turf when no one was near him. Joe needs to find the inner fortitude to lead this team. No more excuses like that was the play that was called. If it's a bad call change it. Stop waiting for everyone else to do your job for you. You are the QB, get people moving to the line and run in the two minute, change the play if it's a bad play. Move more. If there is no one in front of you then run. Start being a leader and stop being a little mealy mouthed whiny kid and step up and start being a man and taking control.
  12. Will Davis got hurt and is nowhere near the same player he was when they traded for him. It's a smart move. And how is Ramsey, Jack & Fowler doing in Jacksonville? Best record in the league? Stanley>Ramsey. How is your blue chip draft pick Tunsil doing? I heard he's ranked behind Michael Pierce (undrafted free agent) in the top rookies this year. KO got paid as one of the top LT in the game - to play LG. Bad contract that the Raiders will regret when they have to pay Carr & Cooper top $$. Ramsey is doing great. The problem isn't just Will Davis. Can you name how many mediocre players this organization has brought in the the last 5 yrs? A glaring example is Shareece Wright. They were quick to sign him. He was with the 49ers and everyone knew that he isn't a good CB, but some how they felt that signing him was going to turn him around. There has been too many Shareece Wrights here in the last 5 yrs. As far as KO, the Raiders made a great move in signing him. You saw what a difference maker he was. The Ravens didn't even sniff Carr when we played the Raiders. Why are the Raiders great now? Great players, not cheap players. When it comes time to sign Carr/Cooper they will figure a way to do it - and they won't let any of them walk. I said this several years ago; what good is it to draft players, develop them and consistently let them walk? The Salary cap is very fluid and I think that the FO has to figure out how to work it. Think about the wasted money in bringing several players that would never catch on onto the roster. All those players are paid by the way regardless of how low the contract, when one adds it up, it amounts to a lot especially when there's a lot of such small contracts. And this has been the case. Ramsey doing great? You mean by giving up 500 yds of offense to the Titans? Or do you mean the 2-5 record? The Jags secondary with Ramsey has given up 225 passing yards a game. The Ravens secondary with Wright has given up 220 yards. Doesn't seem like Ramsey is all that great to me. David Carr is making $1.5 million, Cooper & Mack are making $5 million per. The Raiders are good because they can overpay players like KO, Crabtree, Irvin, etc. BECAUSE these guys are on their rookie contracts. Just like Seattle's run before they had to pay Russell Wilson. Where are the Seahawks now? Definitely not the same team. The Raiders window is this year and next. After that, they are going to have to pay Carr, Cooper, Mack, Gabe Jackson, etc. The question is still out on whether KO is worth the money but name 1 other free agent that the Ravens let walk that was even close to being worth what the next team paid for him. (Hint: You can't). You can't sign & keep everyone. This is what the NFL wanted. And quite frankly, I think the FO made the right move - I'd rather have Weddle & Wallace AND $6 million extra in cap space than have KO. Just curious, are you saying because Ramsey plays for the Jags he is a bad player. Did you look at HIS game stats as opposed to the safeties and the other corners. With the same logic, does Jimmy Smith and Weddle suck because our secondary has allowed 14 TDs this year or are they bad because Eli Manning and Odell Beckham abused OUR secondary to the tune of 400+ yards for Manning and 200+ for Beckham. Good players go to bad teams, that's the nature of the draft to create parity in the league. I think Ramsey would have helped this team and to say Stanley is better when he has played in 3 of 7 games is a little premature. Now the future may prove you right or wrong, but when Ramsey hasn't missed a play and Stanely has missed more than half, it is WAY too early to say Stanley is reliable much less better than Ramsey. And the other part of that trade was Kaufusi who was not doing well before getting injured for the year so right now, until Stanley plays more and Kaufusi actually can play, I side on the Ramsey side of the equation.
  13. I am still sticking with if Ben plays it will be tough to win but with Ben out I think it will be an easy victory for the Ravens. I know many don't agree quoting this stat and that but stats can be manipulated and its how I feel and although others disagree, I am sticking to my guns and Monday we will know if I was right or not. I can accept being wrong, it won't be the first time :)
  14. Just want to add that early in the week I had made the comment that if Ben plays I think we will lose but if he is sidelined I think we will get this win quoting the fact that with Ben out the Ravens are 6-1 against the Steelers. I was beat up pretty bad in the comments section like I had lost my mind, yet I have seen the same exact prognostication by many experts including those at Russell Street Report who predicted... Vs. Landry Jones: Ravens 24 Yinzers 13 Vs. Can-Barely-Fit-His-Fat-Head-In-His-Helmet: Jerks 24 Ravens 20 If I am an idiot at least I know I am in good company and am not the only idiot.
  15. Go Ravens. Show everyone that you can pull this team together. If Flacco can get protection, and it looks like he will with a healthy line, we will rack up the points. Okay, we haven't beaten anyone by more than a touchdown, but we haven't lost by more than a touchdown either. I am looking for Perriman to break out this game. I remember a game against the then St Louis Rams and Torrey Smith was a rookie who had struggled in preseason and after just two regular season games, people were labeling him a bust (people love to be quick on the labels). He then went out and his first three catches in the NFL were TD's. With a very weak secondary and pass rush and with a healthy Ravens O-line, this will be the game that Flacco can open up on. West will roll over this poor struggling defensive line of the Steelers and that will open up the long ball. Not only that, Wallace has a lot to prove to a Steelers team that he forgets let him walk and didn't think he was worth the big bucks after his rookie contract. Maybe he shouldn't be feeling so misty about a team that didn't want him. I am sure the first time someone that wasn't on the team with Wallace, nails him and knocks him flat he will find someone on the Steelers to hate.
  16. After much thought and consideration about this offense, and the progressions and transitions over the last 5 years and the coaching hires, I don't look for much improvement until Harbaugh sits down with the front office and really thinks this Offensive Coordinator thing out. I think the Kubiak hire if nothing else shows just what an impact a quality OC can have. I don't know if changing from Marty is the answer at this point because part of the problem is switching OCs 5 times in 5 years. Cam was a good OC and having many years with Flacco the offense could grow and progress. When Cam was canned, Caldwell, I believe benefitted from a league who had no idea what an OC who had never called a play would call and how he would scheme. Plus I think Joe felt relief after being under Cams thumb since being in the league. Caldwell was exposed in the next year but then Kubiak came back and righted the ship. Just another reason a person from Baltimore should hate John Elway. Trestman was just a bad hire and Marty is trying to piece this back together with little time and limited resources. Viewing it under this light I don't expect much progress BUT like Pittsburgh and Cincinatti, we don't fire the Head Coach, he and Bisciotti and Newsome have to sit down and figure this all out. Too much firing talk. Same with the front office. Ozzie is a genius of player personnel, that doesn't change. He needs to figure out why the scouting reports aren't accurate, why scouts are standing up for the players they do, what's changed in the evaluation process. Trestman stunk it up last year and was well on the way this year. Harbs needs to really think this OC thing out whether it's keeping Marty or or a really, really strong candidate like Kubiak was and Ozzie needs ro figure this draft problem as well,
  17. starting to get that Ravens-Steelers rivalry blood pumping. Didn't have it Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday I came out of the depths of despair I have been in since we were 3-0, today I am starting to buy into the reverse psychology of the Steelers writers. By tomorrow I will be on board with the Ravens and by Saturday, I will be arguing with my to be son-in-law who is a Steelers fan. I totally forgot those two losses to the Ravens knocked the Steelers out of the playoffs last year and that they have lost the last 3 or 4 straight to the Ravens. The Steelers definitely should be motivated. For all the Harbaugh criticism I listen to in Baltimore I wonder, are we the only one who sees the Harbaugh flaws and we are way off base or does he just have everybody else in the world fooled. I really don't think it is the last so regardless of how we feel about the roster, most people believe he is getting the most out of the talent he has.
  18. That was a really stupid thing to say and do. If it's late in the fourth quarter and a winning touchdown pass bounces off his hands, the comments section will be filled with questions and accusations about his dedication to the team who is now signing his paycheck. Thank goodness Suggs intervened before he dug the hole any deeper, but mark it down. If the above scenario transpires the way I think it could, it will be ugly for Wallace in this section.
  19. not in the slightest. our o line is terrible. Its just like Leslie Frasier coming in during the offseason. For some reason people thought he was going to be our secondaries savior. there is too much purple koolaid being consumed here. do you remember how excited people were two years ago when we signed Kendrick Lewis or when we resigned Sharice Wright. Both of those players have played at a below average level for their entire careers and people wonder why they cant live up to the hype. they cant live up to it because it was never deserved. and I fully expect next year for everyone on this site to pencil John Urchel at center. And when he isnt starting they will say he must be in some sort of dog house. there will be pleanty of articles about him and his math skills during the offseason that will make people totally forget about how terrible he has played for us the past few years. I put Ben Watson in this category too. Everyone was so excited that we paid for an undersized slow and aging TE. Even if he didnt get hurt their is no way he would have lived up to those expectations. He has been an average tight end his whole career except for last year when he was helped by the system he was in. And dont forget about Justin Forsett, the 31 year old coming off of an injury who has only had 1 season out of 8 where he was able to put up more than 650 yards. You clearly don't look at the stats for Urschel and you must be basing your assumptions on your expert evaluation skills of NFL players. Of course, PFF would disagree with you as Urschel has been one of the better offensive lineman (both this year and last) and a lot of experts with many more years of NFL evaluation experience believe he should have started before Zuttah this year. Don't know if you know this or not, but PFF doesn't look at Urschels IQ when they rate his play nor do they read articles about him. But I am sure those expert skills of yours would tell you that Zuttah has played well this year (once again PFF would disagree). You know, I think the Steelers are looking for fans because based on your diatribe, why would you be a fan of a team who knows so little when you clearly know so much.
  20. I think the biggest threat to the Ravens in this game is Ben Roethlisberger. If he plays, then I think we lose. We have proven we can stop LeVeon Bell. We have done it a number of times and run defense is our strength. However, when Ben is out (isn't playing) against us they are 1-4 and I think that is because his replacements over the years, haven't been able to scramble to give receivers like Antonio Brown, Sammy Coates, and others, time to shake coverage, I don't think Landry Jones as a pocket passer will be successful either. Dean Pees defense is not a Rex Ryan/Chuck Pagano style attacking defense, how many times have we heard bend not break. Well, with Ben, we break with the others we have just bent. The other side of the coin is this, if by some miracle, Dean Pees finally can generate a pass rush without sending 9 people, and Mike Tomlin is willing to risk his top QB to rush him into the game, then I would say go for his bad knee. I think the only way we win if Ben plays is to knock him out of the game. If we can do that, we will win regardless of whether Ben starts or not. Some people will call this dirty football, I just call it football. No one told Tomlin to start an injured Ben, so that's the risk you take. I only take them one at a time, no sense worrying about the Browns if we lose to the Steelers. If we lose to the Steelers, its time to let the young guys and the backups play and see what we have as a core before we start rebuilding this off-season.
  21. We need a core of good young players to rebuild around. Williams is one of the key players we need to keep. We made a huge mistake letting KO go. To say we wouldn't have gotten Weddle and Wallace is inaccurate because the FO could have figured it out even if it meant making our overpaid QB take a pay cut or ditching Webb. If were willing to let Ngata walk over his cap figure, losing Flacco would be no greater loss. If they play Ben I would tackle him by the ankles and twist it every time. If they want to rush him back and risk injury, then I would test his knee, severely. Campanaro can't stay healthy. He just can't do it. Of course, Hester can't either. Pick your poison. If Ozzie would get off some of those draft picks he accumulates that turn into nothing and trades them for a receiver and backup left tackle, maybe we win the division. If Ozzie just sits and watches, I have to wonder if Ozzie isn't trying to cause Harbaugh to lose his job. I have never seen a GM do so poorly in drafts, keep accumulating draft picks and wasting them as much as Ozzie has over the past 5 years. Ozzie has left Harbaugh with just a shell of a team. If you consider the talent we had and let walk out the door, and what we did to replace them, you would have to surmise that someone is out to make someone lose a job. I mean, how much more obvious can you get. I have pounded my head trying to figure out Ozzie's strategy in these drafts and they make absolutely no sense. Failing to trade up in two drafts to pick up better players, picking players way ahead of where they were anticipated to go, trying to draft more 5th round and later players than any team in history, and trying to put a undrafted free agent on every team, sure does look like the FO is trying to get the coach fired.
  22. Harbaugh looks like a defeated person. It looks like it is finally sinking in that this could be another 5-11 season and it could be his job. Personally, I don't see how we can all agree we don't have playmakers, yet wasn't it Ozzie not John who let the people walk. People say John ran out all the alpha males but that is just some talking point and everyone wants to jump on that bandwagon. OZZIE controls the roster, not Harbaugh, not Pees, not Castillo, not Bisciotti but Ozzie. He takes input from everyone and makes decisions on that. We saw what Ed Reed could do in a uniform in his last year, why was it Harbaugh who didn't re-sign him. Ozzie created cap space by releasing Boldin. Ozzie said that. Why do we want to blame Harbaugh as if he was afraid of Boldin but let's Suggs and SSS say what ever they want. What did Pollard do or where did he go. Did Harbaugh make every team release him. Ozzie let KO go, Ozzie also has failed us in the draft, I guess that's Harbaugh's fault too. Yes Harbaugh has input, he doesn't make the decisions. Everyone involved with the Ravens has input but they will tell you at the end of the day, Ozzie closes the door and makes the decisions. Harbaugh has his issues but I am sick of hearing people whine about Harbaugh releasing or cutting or getting rid of people. Anyone who knows the Ravens knows that is on Ozzie and if I am Ozzie, I'm insulted you are giving other people my job and insinuating I am just a figurehead. What does Ozzie do, what is his job if he isn't responsible for the roster. Does he just sit and eat Bon-bons all day.
  23. We have historically had a better line and even the year we had Kubiak, we utilized the talent we had in the system that best supported our skill set. Last year, but mostly this year, Trestman moved away from the zone run scheme which best suited our faster (not stronger) line and the foot in the ground and go running back style that Forsett did well. Trestman took a year and a half to destroy the successful system Kubiak had in place, and it is going to take more than a bye week to fix it. This also applies to the dink and dunk approach that Flacco was given since Trestman came and it is clear to see that Joe struggled mightily with that. So between the run game and pass game Trestman screwed with and messed up (which by the way is 100% of the offense) we have completely changed what we do and each change was counter intuitive to what our skillsets are. Trestman came in and said this is how "I" operate and everyone has to change and operate this way as well. Unfortunately, Joe isn't the type of QB who adjusts well to change and Trestmans style did not mesh at all with what the Ravens players do well. Trestman changed the runs scheme Forsett made the pro bowl in and the passing scheme that Flacco played best in. This isn't going to change in a bye week because so much more goes into this than just play calling. We assembled a team from last training camp through this training camp based on what Trestman said we were going to do. Let us not be so harsh on Marty if in one week he doesn't turn it all around. Granted, if he goes back to what we do well, then the adjustment wont be as harsh but we just can't expect or demand an immediate change.
  24. Just want to address some of those 8 ideas we need to do. First, play young pass rushers more? Then later on in the article we talk about one of those young guys making a stupid hit on Fitzpatrick causing the Ravens to lose valuable time they could have used to score and win. Can't have it both ways, if you play the young guys, then give up on the season because they are going to make those stupid mistakes that are going to cost games. Get Joe help. When I watched Prescott last night he did some things that I would like to see our 9 year QB do. First, he went to the line, changed plays, pointed out players, even if it was just bluff, he did something that made the defense think. If Joe can read the defense he doesn't show it, he doesn't change the play to be something that will be successful against that defense. To me Joe Flacco is a quarterback. Dak Prescott was quarterbacking his team. Besides one is a verb and one is a noun, the big thing is that he is quarterbacking, leading, hurrying when necessary, actually acted like he was alive. Joe needs to help Joe. I know he is laid back but I have always said there is a difference in apathy and being laid back. Joe needs to grab this team and lead, that is what qbs do and if he can't do it, then we need a change. This team desperately needs a leader on the offense and Steve Smith who has been injured or will be gone next year is not the guy. Things you can't do until the offseason because it requires adding pieces we don't have. Settle on the offensive line (need a center we don't have, need a decent backup tackle we don't have. Find Red Zone options. They aren't falling out of the sky so that will have to wait too. Speed on field for defense. Webb is one of those and until Ozzie is willing to give up the experiment we are stuck with slow. Lastly, Hester. Should have kept Butler who we could use as an option in the red zone. Said from day one it was a mistake. Rosburg and Harbaugh as special teams guys sold a spot on the team to say they coached the great Devon Hester. Like Webb at safety, another blown experiment. The one thing we need to do more than anything else. Stop accumulating draft picks like picks in the 4th round and later are more valuable than guys you can get by moving up in the first and second rounds. We need playmakers, we need a core of good young players. We haven't been getting them in round 4 and beyond and we wont in the future. If we could score on some of those its a great strategy, but we can't so lets use those picks that we end up cutting and move up and grab GREAT players in round one and two.;
  25. Two thoughts. First, I disagree with the mentallity that we aren't going to make a super bowl run so why pick up anyone. My number two plays into it but from the personnel side, we are one game out of the division lead. Yes we had a rough stretch with offensive line hurt, but that looks to change after the bye. The defense has shown if they don't have to be on the field 45 of the 60 minutes of a game, they are quite competitive. If we pick up a legit left tackle and a legit receiver who can create seperation, then we can be a dynamic team. Joe plays best under pressure and he is now, Harbaugh's teams have always played better at the end of the season and into the playoffs. Are we just saying that not halfway into the season and one game out in a VERY weak conference and division we are throwing in the towel. That is not Raven mentallity. Second, with the cap the way it is, how do we make any moves? We have an overpaid quarterback who the film shows, and by his own admission, isn't playing up to expectations. In the past we have seen Brady do it, Manning do it, Brees do it, they have taken a pay cut to clear cap space to allow the front office room to pick up the pieces they need for the final run at the big dance. Joe gambled and won in 2012. Is he comfortable enough in his position and his pay as the 27th ranked QB in the league? Or does he feel he is better and is willing to acknowledge he can't do it himself and with his pay, the team can't afford the pieces it needs to make him successful. Is he a team guy who acknowledges reality or is he a me guy who is going to get as much as he can until the gravy train dries up (who with his play any not be that much long). I don't have a problem giving up draft picks, have we been doing that great with them? Especially 5th round and out where we have been cutting 90% of them anyway. I don't have a proble, trading players away if we have you guys there to replace them. What we can't afford to do is to continue to carry players like Dumervil who are just eating up a roster spot who at this time we desperately need to fill.
