  1. I have to laugh. Coachspeak between now and when the season starts is just intolerable. Don't tell me about coaching changes when you kept the guy who made the worst call in the history of the Ravens. You're not serious. No, seriously, they are not serious about that. This guy ran less than Trestman and threw more short passes which I didn't think was humanly possible. Better O-line. You can't put out turnstiles like DuCasse and Zuttah and have defenses take you serious. Talent evaluation on the front line is pathetic but don't get me started on Castillo. Healthier knee better chemistry? First I will buy the knee thing as it was obvious he was moving better. So let's see his butt out there with Perriman, Wallace, Campanaro, etc... During the off-season. That's how you build chemistry. Keep Pitta away, he gets too much of Joe"s attention. Time at practice is too limited with ALL the receivers and when you are up the butt of your TE its hard to build chemistry with anyone else. Joe needs to study defenses more as his football IQ is poor and I'm being nice. He needs to realize when you make 120 mil. Your job starts earlier than everyone else, it lasts longer than anyone else, it is on off days and the off-season something you need to devote time to constantly. When Flacco says after the season is over he puts football aside for a couple months and about a month before going back he starts throwing again. That is not an acceptable attitude or expected work ethic for a 120 mil. player. Playmakers. We had playmakers this year. Our RB are very good. 5+ yards averages in most games, we just don't give them the ball. SSS is a playmaker, Wallace was dynamite under Trestman, Perriman didn't have enough targets to develop because Joe checked his #1 reciever and if he wasn't open he just dumped it off. Joe was horrible in the pocket this year, really bad. No awareness, no movement, just really pathetic looking at times when he just folded into a fetal position even when no one was close.
  2. Welcome to the Philadelphia Eagles coaching cast offs better known around the NFL as the Ravens (or Gilligans Island). After years and years of not being able to get it done, the Eagles cut bait and moved on. The Ravens then went around and hired every Eagles coach from Harbaughs time that was not gainfully employed and gave them positions of power. What in the world would make anyone think that the Eagles retreads who couldn't get it done, will magically become good coaches in Baltimore. Clearly, someone in the upper echelon of the Ravens is kidding themselves (Thats you Steve and Ozzie)
  3. Harbaugh just signed his termination paperwork. Mohrnigweg is a scatter brained individual, which was evident after his first press conference, and does not learn from his mistakes. After making what Harbaugh called the worst play call ever by throwing on first down in the Eagles game he comes back in the Bengals game and does exactly the same thing. He can't stay focused on the run game, by his own admission he isn't going to be conservative and support the run game, and Joe Flacco is scatterbrained enough, we need a Kubiak like OC who will FORCE Joe to work on footwork, work on keeping balanced, work on not bailing out on throws, work on developing the front line. Mohrninweg has failed horribly in accomplishing just those few things in the time he was OC. But he is an old Eagle coach, buddy to Harbaugh, just like Castillo, Frazier and numerous others who aren't qualified and are dragging this team down. If Bisciotti didn't tell Harbaugh to hire his buddies at his own peril, then shame on Bisciotti. Harbaugh has to be smart enough to know that if Marty does the same crap next year, they will all be looking for jobs. If Bisciotti doesn't recognize what the rest of the world sees, then maybe we would be better if he chose to sell the team.
  4. I have to question releasing Dumervil and keeping Jimmy Smith. Dumervil had one injury that hurt him this season, since the very first game Smith played in he has been injured to some extent. That needs to stop. We all love Smith when he plays, he just doesnt play enough to justify that cap hit. Hurst is a bum. Why he would start at right tackle instead of putting Alex Lewis in there to see what he could do is just insane. I am still trying to figure how Hurst is on the team after causing Flaccos injury last year and basically being a turnstile, it makes no sense to put him out there. It has made no sense for him to even be on this team. There has to be a serious look at Castillo as our Offensive line has been in a downward spiral since Andy Moller left. Regardless of why Moller left, or was terminated, we need to clear the ranks of Harbaughs buddies who were at the eagles with him. Ozzie and Steve need to sit him down and tell him we really need skilled people at these positions, especially since Harbaugh is only a special teams coach. It is time to clear the Ravens of the nepotism that gets Harbaughs buddies hired and actually hire coordinators based on their skill and abilities, not just that they used to work with the Eagles. Ozzie and Steve need to take a tighter control of the reins in this next year and not allow Harbaugh to make the decisions he makes regarding coaches, personnel and in game decisions. Let us not forget there was a run of three straight games that we barely lost and had Harbaugh not made poor decisions like going for it on fourth when a FG was money in the bank. Had we just not decided to be outrageously aggressive, we could have won the division and still lost to the Steelers and the Bengals had Harbaugh just been a little smarter about his decisions. There would have really been no need to even sweat this as the Raiders, Redskins and Jets games could have and should have been victories and the loss was directly because of Harbuagh's aggressiveness.
  5. Clearly the fire everyone crowd is out today. I think that we need to step back and look at what other teams are doing and how successful they are with a revolving door at HC. Clearly, it just shows how little these people know about NFL football. If this team hadn't improved since 5-11 then maybe we would look at Harbaugh but we were one game out of winning the division. If you listen to what other experts say about the Ravens and their coaching staff then maybe you would be a little more enlightened. Right now there is a lot of ticked off and not a lot of common sense being thrown about here. PFT said that short a couple losses as a result of Trestman earlier in the year, the Ravens were a legitimate super bowl team. Shame it had to come down to that game but short the Pees bend, bend, break philosophy, this team would have a lot more success. Fact is, the OC has to go, isn't qualified and we need to go out and court a real OC and DC and not one of John's buddies from the Eagles. The bend, bend, bend, break defensive mentallity, doesn't cut it any more in this NFL. For the longest time I thought we could get by with Pees, but his inability to make adjustments in a timely manner always costs us. No we do need to make some changes and I would maybe throw Castillo in that mix as well. When we had legitimate candidates like Kubiak, we could see what we could do, the same is true both offense and defense, we need to get people who really excel in coordinating. We didn't get to the last game of the season and barely miss going into the playoffs because we have a lousy head coach. Harbaugh needs strong coordinators due to his lack of experience in those areas and when we had those quality coordinators, we always did well.
  6. You know the old saying, only when you die do you know how much people really loved you. Kind of the "Its a Wonderful Life Premise." Well, PFT has beaten up the Ravens all year, said nasty things about them, said bad things about Flacco but funny enough, in that vein, PFT's last power rankings had this to say about the Ravens, "17. Ravens (8-7; No. 15): Making their playoff exit even more painful is the fact that the Ravens could have made it to the Super Bowl." Yes, and I think had we we held the Steelers, had Mosley, Orr and Weddle had the drive to keep Antonio Brown out of the endzone, we could have been a Super Bowl team. With the loss of only a few players this off season and perhaps another quality draft and perhaps a legitimate #1 free agent receiver, we could really be a powerhouse next year. But lets not forget, had we won that Steelers game, I think we would have gone all the way, and people were counting on it.
  7. Too many times, too many games, over too many years, we have seen this same story at least 3-4 times a year. Take the lead late and the opponent just marches downfield like our defense wasn't even on the field. it has happened now for years and either the scheme needs to change or the coordinator needs to change. We know the OC has to go, I mean, for 4 weeks he was told to balance the run and pass and it took him all 4 games to do it and 1 game after he almost got fired for that pass in the Eagles game, he finally did it and we almost won. That and the red zone percentage shows he can't call plays. I think Bisciotti needs to go and clean out coordinators, look at Castillo who has underperformed (line was much better with Moller as coach), and like when we got Kubiak, both OC and DC need to be proven commodities and not buddies of Harbaugh who got fired somewhere else. The season is over, the players say they are up for the Bengals game, but no way, they will phone it in. A lot of ifs in that Steelers game and when we as a team can stop saying if Waller caught this, or Pitta caught that, or if Weddle covered this, or if Orr tackled that, when we can stop saying if, we will be a good team.
  8. We need some modifications there is no doubt. Zuttah is a drive killer and needs to go. If he's not playing turnstile he's holding and costing drives. Has to go. DuCasse is a joke. That's just poor coaching putting him out there. Jimmy Smith needs to go. Doesn't matter how good you are when you make that money you have to play or we have to give it to someone else, it is time now to give it to someone else. Smith should be traded and at least get a 5th or 6th round pick. Same with his buddy Wright, waste of uniform space. for years now we lose 4 to 5 games a year when our defense just lays down and teams just go right down the field and score and win. That's a trend and that's a problem and it's time that Pees goes. We have missed the playoffs 3 of the last 4 years and that's a problem as well and it's time to clean out coordinators and see if we can't do better.
  9. The defense has gotten a lot of credit for a secondary that continues, year after year, to give up critical scores, easily, to opposing teams. For years we have played bend don't break that ends up breaking in the 4th quarter. The scheme doesn't work in today's passing NFL. You can't keep blaming Flacco and the offense, they have put up numbers the last couple games to win and the defense collapsed. As much as we have screamed at Marty and Joe, in the grand scheme of things, it is Pees defense that continues to fail us year after year. We need to figure this secondary thing out and resolve our corner issues. Smith wilts like a soft soft. Every tough game he can't suit up or leaves in the first half, and our other side needs a good long outside corner so Young can play the slot. How does out defense fold up like this year after year after year, because it's Pees scheme that fails us year after year.
  10. We have to find a way to sign Brandon Williams. Certainly not like Ngata who was up in years and missing more and more games each year. Williams is in his prime and is a key part to that brick wall that is the Ravens front 7. Alot more can be said but I think it would detract from what I think is the most important, get Williams back. We have Wagner and a few others up for resigning but none more important that B Will.
  11. The Steelers aren't exactly blowing people out and had to stage a comeback just to beat the Bengals. If you have watched the games, Ben has been horribly inaccurate here recently and if we can stop LeVeon Bell, we will go a long way to defeating the Steelers. Let's hope Marty can keep his common sense hat on through the whole game and if not lets hope after 9 years, Flacco can soon check out of a bad play. I have always noticed Flacco changing from a run to a pass, but rarely do you see it otherwise. We need our QB to go to football college in the offseason and lets do some work on that extremely low football IQ he has. Little less diaper duty and more passing to your receivers and watching tape. It is the off-season but for 120 million we expect work in the off-season.
  12. It sounds like after a 5-11 season and a tough NE loss, set up by stupid coaching decisions in several early games this year that cost games, and the pressure of having to win out is causing our coaches to be crazy. Listening to Rosburg I thought it was really bizaare, strange, for what he said about Hester when no one caused Hester to refuse to field punts causing serious lost yards, no one forced his constant injuries this season, no one made him drop punts that hit his hands. It's just weird. Hester couldn't do it anymore, he didn't have what he once had. That happens, that's why people retire. But it wasn't his returns as he had some nice ones, it was the overly abundant ones he didn't return or muffed that cost him. Rosburgs response to releasing him was a little uncomfortable. Marty in his presser didn't sound like he had one coherent thought through the whole thing. Rambling, talking both sides of one argument, twisting information and stories as to make it difficult to even garner any sense from it. Just his ramble about how good they have been for the most part in the 2 minute drill (uh-yeah) or when he rambled about why no runs, he didn't seem to know other than they were on his play sheet but somewhere between there, his mouth the microphone and Joes ear it just came out pass. We planned it I just don't know how I didn't call a run play IN COVER 2 all day. Opportunity didn't present itself?????? C'mon man. What's more frustrating, that he does it, or he thinks we are so stupid like there was something the Patriots did, that was so specific to stopping the run, he couldn't call a run play. Oh, except the safety he ran one, the one to the loaded side and not behind Yanda and Stanley, his best linemen.
  13. We've been working on penalties since we were complaining about Michael Oher getting 4 a game 8 years ago. Seems the problem stems from exactly where the coach has repeatedly said it stems from, coaching. Discipline is solely the responsibility of the head coach and for 8 years he hasn't figured out how to teach his offensive lineman how to not commit a false start. 8 freaking years. I was a little hard on Joe after the Patriots game but after re-watching the first half I have to agree with respecttheraven, our receivers dropped more passes than they caught. Wallace cost an interception and just straight out dropped a TD. Perriman was caught in la la land out on the edge when a ball smacked him in the chest when he wasnt looking. How can you blame Joe? Between penalties and receivers who have grease on their hands, as much as we get frustrated with Joe as the game winds down, had those who needed to take care of their own business earlier in the game had done so, it wouldn't have ended up that Flacco had to hurry us down the field. Let's hope they get it together before these last three games however, I am not holding out much hope but the silver lining is we had a great draft, if we can follow that up with another one, lock up B Williams and a few others and we will do far better next season.
  14. just heard during the open part of practice, Flacco continued to miss Smith on passes with his inaccuracy and it got so bad that Smith threw his helmet across the field, kicked the ball and went and sat out the rest of the practice open to the media. Clearly, Flacco's inaccuracy and lack of fire is starting to deteriorate the locker room. You couldnt miss on TV when Flacco was missing passes, being inaccurate, not showing any urgency, Suggs was over making faces, cussing, obviously irritated with the lack of performance and desire from Flacco. It may be at the point now that Flaccos urgency and fire is noticed by his teammates and they are not happy with their 120 million dollar QB acting like a diva, not caring about his teammates by not showing that winning games is a little more important to him, and I am sure there are dollar questions based on production. Hey, if we talk about it here, players aren't dumb, they see it too. If Flacco was my QB and he played the way he has the last couple losses with his lack of motivation, I would definitely have a face to face and it could get nasty. I'm sure there are players who feel the same way. Some say Smith is just throwing a fit, but he is down to his last three games, he has got to win, and he wants more from his QB, the same as we do.
  15. There are many players who started off their careers as regulars on the injury report. You can claim he is fragile, but you cant deny plays like he made against the Steelers where he made them look like fools trying to tackle him, or his ability to get open (something we desperately need watching our existing wideouts). I think he is worth another shot knowing what he can do as opposed to getting WHO at CB. Promote someone from the practice squad, pick up a player dumped for a DWI, grab someone from some other teams practice squad. Yeah, nice idea if there is a cb out there who has proven he can impact a game like Campanaro can, but give me names. Just saying get a cb doesn't cut it.
  16. Reports are that Floyd was released because of a DUI. If that's the case, the Ravens won't touch him. That is correct. They are now on the "holier than thou," "one strike, you're out," "judge, jury executioner," PC correct bandwagon, since the Rice debacle Any slip up now, and your cast aside like an old newspaper. Their secondary stinks, but they jettison their best DB, Hill, for whatever. Had they had this attitude back in 2000, and up to the Rice episode, they'd have no R.Lewis, J. Lewis, McAllister, Suggs, etc., etc., etc. And probably no championships. Maybe, but remember in the middle of the Rice thing they grabbed Jernigan who fell because of a dilute urine at the combine, I think they would have taken Tunsil, even with his baggage, had that last video not shown up during the draft. I think they are getting flexible. Not saying they will sign this guy, but Harbs has been a second chance guy. Will HIll came in the middle of the Rice thing after a suspension and had he not messed up again, we would have a killer secondary. I think the chains of the Ray Rice saga are slowly but surely starting to slide off and the front office (if they want to get to the playoffs) might bend a little bit more.
  17. Ravens may be scouring other teams practice squads for someone who could return punts and kicks and is also a cb. We had Asa Jackson who could have fit that bill but someone snagged him off our practice squad before we acted. Had we done this 2 weeks ago when it should have been done, our options would be much greater than they are now.
  18. Umm. Pats and Steelers have both played in London. Try again. Pats have played twice in the UK.
  19. The first one cost us two points, the next one he allowed to rest on the one and a half yard line at the end of the 3rd quarter. Fortunately, Dixon ran left behind Yanda and gained 8 yards but we ended up punting on that drive because of the length of the field we had to traverse. Had he just fielded it without even returning we would have been at the 15. So it wasn't just one mistake in this game it was two to add to about two per game since he got here. I said it was a mistake to start with, I thought at the time they should have kept Butler instead of cutting him to make room for Hester. This was Harbaugh and Rossbergs dream to coach the best punt returner in history with their special teams background and it has cost us a lot. Speaking of which, if we just include the three games that Harbaugh lost earlier in the season there wouldn't be a question if we are in the playoffs or not. Those "aggreessive" decisions cost us games. If I'm Bisciotti, I tighten the leash on Harbaugh on this insane aggressive crap.
  20. 1 coaching a. Penalties, 8 years now we have been told its on the coach. We continue to implode when driving with stupid penalties. How long, how long? b. urgency, for 8 years we have been saying that someone needs to light a fire under Flacco, he needs to show he is in a hurry, c. Field smarts, for 8 years we have said that Flacco is not a field manager. He barely has a hand full of plays he can check to, he can't even see the front line fill the hole he is getting ready to give the back the ball to run into. he cant even step back and call a timeout when in doubt d. run-pass efficiency for 8 years we have been saying that for Flacco to be successful that there has to be some sort of equality in runs and passes, yet here we go again with a Flacco throwfest that just wants to make us throw up. I am stopping here because I think you get the picture. Flacco has many imperfections but if nobody is going to tell him to fix it, he is the proverbial lazy boy who leaves his socks in the middle of the floor until mommy tells him to pick them up. For 8 years we have been waiting for someone to tell Flacco to pick up his socks along. Same with everything else that just keeps occurring. Someone needs to coach and it looks like the inmates are running the asylum.
  21. We had the same exact problems with Ed Reed when he was back there and when he was right we loved him and when he was wrong we said "oh, it Ed Reed." Same situation. Weddle is successful because he is an intuitive player. That is how he is successful. That said, no safety responsible for deep coverage in the fourth quarter with less than 7 minutes and down by 3, should even be thinking about jumping a route. Like Flacco, not a lot was happening between the ears at that point in time.
  22. We have what we have. We continue to show improvement and we will be divisional leaders if we win out. We can and have beaten the Steelers and Bengals and the Eagles will be a win also. I said we should blow this team out and considering the history, I should have known better. Joe is just an average, at best, qb. I have tried to defend him, but he just refuses to put any energy into what he is doing. I think a little sit on the bench for a couple of downs might fire him up a bit. Remember when Suggs was pushing for our own wildcat with Troy Smith and Flacco about freaked out that he was not the one under center. Lets take a couple of practices and have Mallett run the offense or let him come in on the second drive of the game. If Flacco can't motivate himself it is incumbent on the coaches to motivate him. Nothing up to now seems to work so exceptional times require exceptional measures. Will Harbaugh have it in him to do this, probably not, but that is what he needs. He is playing like a diva, he acts like he doesn't want to hurry up, that the game moves at his speed, I would let him test the speed of the bench in that case. Maybe he would study a little more film or learn how to read defenses in that spare time. One more thing... The Hester experiment is OVER!!!! If he is still on this team at the end of this week and Campanaro isn't called up, then Ozzie and John are idiots. Its a shame the fans have known for weeks what 2 highly paid football executives just can't seem to figure out. We have now become that footnote in Hesters career where people say, yep, he should have quit while he was ahead, but he sure soaked Baltimore for a couple mil.
  23. Dolphins played to a 31-24 loss to the Patriots earlier in the year. That was when the Dolphins were playing poorly. We got them at the end of a 6 game win streak and blew them away. Football isn't algebra, just because team 1 is greater than team 2 and team 2 is greater than team 3, doesn't mean that team 1 is greater than team 3, it is all about matchups. The matchups heavily favor the Ravens. I will be the one on here tomorrow after the Ravens smack them around saying I told you we would smack them around.
  24. I thought they looked like crap. Bell won't get away with that hanging behind the line and waiting for a hole strategy against Baltimore and CJ Mosely will shut him down in the passing game. To me Ben looked like he could throw a pick on every other throw. Although he had little pressure, his passes were off mark, intercepted or barely snagged by his receivers. Personally, we can beat the pants off that Steelers team that showed up for the Buffalo game in my opinion. Patriots will be tough but everyone else is a pushover as far as I am concerned. Eagles looked weak, Steelers looked worse and the Bengals are happy just to not be the team to lose to the Browns. Home or Away, we can dominate the remaining 4 games and be set as the division winner in the first round of the playoffs. I am calling for a Ravens big lead here, Brady coming back but the Ravens holding on at the end.
  25. I think at this point in the season, the Ravens are going to have a rough time coming away with a victory this weekend. However, this loss is not the end of anything. We certainly can beat the Eagles, Steelers and Bengals and that still will give us the division and even a shot at the wild card should Denver tank which is highly possible. Looking at their standings above there are two NFL North teams in the playoff picture when just a few weeks ago we were the red head step child of the league. I'm not sure Flacco has another game like the last one in him. Weather and our defense is going to keep it low score. Look for the Patriots to put out a lot of short throws, get our backers and corners focused on that, get our line into pass rush mode, and have Blount produce a number of substantial runs. We are still one corner short of a killer secondary and where Smith is killer and Young is developing into a very good slot corner, we really lack that other outside corner. Safeties are solid and getting better. We have a lot of young players and players in new positions just getting their craft down. NE will be their first big league season prime time on the line game so they will have some jitters. This is an important indoctrination of playing a huge game against a big time foe with the eyes of the nation on them because they have to go to Pittsburgh and repeat their performance on Christmas Day. From what looked like another losing season, where fears and comments of 5-11 seasons seemed the norm, players started gelling, slowly you could see improvement in both Flacco and the offense, and it almost made its way out in Dallas which would have been amazing, but defeating the hot Miami Dolphins proved the point. The Ravens, when focused, is the best team in the NFL.
