  1. PFT is reporting that under the CBA, any criticism of the league, league officials or representatives of the league is a violation of the rules and subject to disciplinary action. All I can say is keep digging that hole deeper and deeper. The only place in the NFL the Patriots will be received with less than a rotten tomatoes welcome is in Boston. I also think that along with several GMS and owners, Bisciotti needs to speak up in support of the Commish. Kraft needs to know he is standing alone in this ongoing insanity. Also, the Patriots fired the offending staff. Nowhere else would a team fire someone who they are defending as being innocent. Nowhere.
  2. I said in another comment section but it bears repeating, I am amazed at how New England fans view the Ravens as a major rival. As a Baltimore fan there is the natural, division driven rivalries we experience here, mostly with the Steelers but the Bengals as well and then the Browns fans hate us because we were them and now we are us. I do concur that I dislike the Patriots but for a team we may not even play every year (like this year) I couldn't really consider them a rival. But if you look at it from the Patriots perspective, who else but the Ravens drive them crazy because they know at any time we can beat them. I don't think the Patriots fear any other team in the league but us. We have been a thorn in their side and as much as Brady likes to play down the Ravens, you at least know the fans won't deflate the importance of the rivalry and then lie about it. Oops, did I really say that. Hahahaha
  3. Honestly, I love the big receiver targets. How many times have I commented in here about Joe being high on his throws. When I go back and watch games on GameRewind going all the way back to 2011, When Joe misses, he usually misses high. So having big receivers like Perriman, Waller and Marlon Brown will help Joe simply by them being so much taller than the receivers he has been throwing to and considering his natural penchant for throwing high their size immediately helps Flacco. Also, no excuses this year for not getting together with his receivers and working on timing and getting a feel for each other. Nobody is in school, no schedule conflicts, not a new system and no excuses as to why they cant start working together on their own time. C'mon Joe, the team stepped up for you now we need you to step up for the team.
  4. Was reading an article on Nesn.com and it was stating that Arrington could go to the BITTER rivals the Baltimore Ravens. I am so used to our bitter rival being the Steelers but after thinking about it who gives the Patriots the hardest time on the field. The Patriots routinely have a hard time putting away the Ravens both during the regular season and playoffs as well. Patriots fans know they were fortunate to come back from two 14 pt deficits in the Divisional round and it seemed the Colts game was a let down after the Ravens game. if I was a Patriots fan there wouldn't be any other team I would fear more than the Ravens so from the perspective of a Patriots fan, their toughest game or most bitter Rival is the Ravens. Arrington is a good steal as well as he has new defensive. Information Pees can add to his historical info giving the Ravens the opportunity to be a thorn in the side of NE and make their fans fear us even more.
  5. Ed Reed during his press conference said how he and Ray would watch film all off season so that when he got to the regular season and was watching film he was so much further ahead. That is what the greatest safety did during his off season time in the NFL. Elam spent his first offseason working in a shoe store and learning about the shoe trade for when he retires. I think the difference between a great safety and a sub-par safety is obvious. One is preparing himself for the next season, the other is preparing for when he leaves the NFL. Personally, I think they were both successful, Ed Reed prepared for a long stint in the NFL and Matt Elam is preparing for a short stint in the NFL and a long stint selling shoes. I don't think anything more needs to be said about Elam's dedication. I think that unless a major turn of events occurs with Elam's play on the field, then first round pick or not, he needs to go and we need to make space for someone who wants to dedicate themselves to football, not selling shoes.
  6. we may find Waller is more suited to the #1 receiver position after he hones his skills. If Perriman also pans out, his 4.25 speed with Wallers size and catch radius could provide us some skilled receivers for many years. It would be nice just once to have receivers like Marshal and Jeffries or AJ Green and Marlon Jones. To be able to have two receivers who both can break 1000 yards would be amazing.
  7. Unitas and Lewis are franchise defining players. When you mention the Colts, the majority of fans in and out of Baltimore would cite Unitas as the player that they feel best represented the Baltimore Colts. Surely there will be those commenters who disagree but in reality we know its Unitas. Same is true for Lewis. For the Baltimore Ravens Lewis is the defining player. Was Ogden, Reed and others great players for Baltimore, absolutely, but once again, when defining the Ravens, most people would cite Lewis as that player. That is old school and that is new school. These are the two players who best represent the old and the new and there needs to be NO MORE STATUES. 2 teams, Ravens and Colts, 2 defining players, Unitas and Lewis.
  8. I am embarrassed I missed this. I will have to make a contribution to Webbs foundation. I wanted to go so bad but I had some issues I couldn't get out of. Other than myself, I am shocked he only got 1000 people out there. Remember our riots and everyone saying we have to work together, this is one of those things that benefit the community we should have been better at supporting. I will say right here, next year I am there and I need the commitment of more of us in here to get out and support what makes Baltimore a better community. I am guilty so I have no right to call anyone else out, but I can commit to being there next year and if you read this, you need to commit to it as well. That number needs to be closer to 5000 than 1000. With the loss of Torrey, we probably lost our Ravens vs the Washington team basketball game so we need to take that support and support other causes. Let's commit to getting out there next year.
  9. Matt Elam needs Ed Reed in the worst way. What Ed did for Webby, the Ravens need to compensate Ed in some fashion to spend time with Matt and teach him how to do it. I watched the press conference and he talked about watching film even in the off season. He said you have to do it to be successful. Elam spent the summer working in a shoe store practicing being a shoe store owner and not a safety. Best way to be a shoe store salesman instead of a safety is to spend you time practicing selling shoes. If Elam does not improve, I hope he learned a lot last summer because he'll be stocking shoes on shelves next year. Ed needs to teach the cocky Elam how a professional does it because Elam clearly does not know. I think Maxx Williams needs to be the #1 TE and Pitta needs to fill in where he can and hopefully he can last another couple years.
  10. He's a tough little guy who plays physical. We have some corners with a good bit of size to them, adding a smaller, quicker corner may be that starting corner we need that also frees up Webby to play the slot where he excels. I like Dennard and although he had some legal issues early in his career I think his has managed to keep his nose clean while knocking the snot out of receivers.
  11. Though Perriman is our #1 pick, I really think Darren Weller may be one of those Ozzie picks that is a gem that was overlooked. Not much out there of him to see but he just glides across the ground, really soft hands and great foot control along the sidelines. He has no college yardage to speak of but the offense he was in was a run first pistol style offense and there wasn't much for Waller to do. However, when they did decide to pass, he didn't drop anything close to him. I am really anxious to watch him.
  12. I guess we will see if the Ravens will be able to develop our new tight ends. Once upon a time it would have been a no brainer having had Heap and Pitta start as rookies here but we lost our long time TE coach Wade Harmon last year to accommodate Kubiaks buddies. The long term expertise and institutional knowledge was lost for a one and done OC. I liked Kubiak but I didn't like that move. Also, I guess we will finally put to rest the questions regarding if Flacco had round 1, A grade WR talent would he and the Ravens be able to develop it. I think that Ozzie has put the talent there one year before Flacco's contract will be reworked to see if he can take that talent and do something with it. We know the Ravens don't let dust settle on players too long and it's not outrageous to think the Ravens might look to make a change if Joe doesn't end up producing with this much talent around him and this good of a front line. I am not advocating they do it I am speculating that with the organizations history would the FO consider it.
  13. It means he wont have to work as hard and be used as much which could help him continue to heal and slowly work his way back instead of blowing his hip out during the third game of the season. He's guaranteed money so we might as well use him and its not like anyone would trade for him. In my opinion use him sparingly and in key situations and as a tutor for Maxx Williams. We could use his veteran experience in a very very young tight end group.
  14. I was on to Perriman when I first heard his name and went out on the web and started watching his tape. I made comments here that I would be happy if we got him and I rated him above Strong and a couple others that the pundits said were better. At that time which was late January, he wasn't even on Mayocks top 5 receivers but everyone else saw the same thing I did. The game definitely does not appear to be too big for him since he grew up around football and he seems comfortable on the field. My projection is he will develop and actually be better than T Smith (although I loved Torrey when he was here). Based on the draft had Perriman not been there, I would have agreed with Ozzie to move back and try to snatch up Maxx Williams or Funchess. Now with Perriman if we get one of those guys or Heuerman we will be set on offense.
  15. Fox Sports Jay Glaser reports video shows Patriots locker room attendant taking balls from refs room to another room for several minutes before reappearing to take balls to field. Who here believes that he acted independently? Am I the only one who thinks the NFL needs to slam on the brakes with this super bowl until we find the truth as having a known cheater win the super bowl will be a disaster for the NFL. In addition, they need to review the same camera footage from the Ravens game to see if Tom Brady's paid crony did the same before that game, affecting the outcome Clearly at this point. The NFL needs to have the colts and Ravens play to see who faces the Seahawks in the real super bowl. In any case, if this is true, absolutely, Bellicheat and Brady need to sit for a year. It is amazing with the info they have already they aren't punishing the Patriots by suspending Brady and Bellicheat before the game.
  16. Looking at the comments it is clear you just cant make some fans happy. If he kicks inside the 20, its because the offense stalled close to the 50 and it was easy however, being ranked 5th in net yard discludes that pessimism or he'd have a 30 yard average. Or that he missed one or two punts, but once again, being in the top 5 in punts inside the 20, also net yards and only two touchbacks discludes that he does this regularly or his average, touchbacks and kicks inside the 20 wouldnt be that good. Please, its a bye week, take a bye on the negative comments. After all, the only punter in the HOF is Ray Guy, and he shanked punts every now and then also.
  17. In my previous comment I indicated the fact he is injury prone as the reason he fell so far. But think about this, we drafted a safety, Defensive Tackle and Inside Linebacker in the first three picks of last years draft. And we added a tight end after signing another tight end last year and adding another one this year. It is my opinion tha I expressed in my comment that I am disappointed in the Mosely pick because of being injury prone and best player available isn't best if he can't stay on the field and the fact that we reselected the exact same positions in the first three picks that we did last year and didn't address need. I am disappointed it looks like Darian Stewart or a fourth rounder is our starting safety. I am disappointed we drafted a guy who fell because he coudnt pass a urine test. I know what the FO decides, that's obvious by their picks, however, that doesn't mean I am disappointed any less.
  18. I am disappointed in this draft because players we desperately needed were on the board when we picked and we grabbed an Alabama guy. There was a reason he dropped to us and that's because at a position that takes a lot of beating he was routinely injured. Not just once, but routinely. Good thing we have Arthur Brown because we will need him. Jernigan, same thing, dropped because of work ethic and then a failed drug test at the combine. I don't care the reason. Jernigan had months to get ready, why is he crash dieting the week right before the combine. Because he wasn't dedicated enough to stay in shape. I understand best available, but I think Ozzie has slipped in his old age or DeCosta has more say and is not as good as Ozzie used to be but the confusion runs through most analysts as well. You can't undo what has been done but my faith in our draft skills has diminished in the last three years. Another thing, Furstenburg, why draft him to throw him away without giving him a chance by drafting another tight end. If he wasn't it then why waste the pick last year, if he is it, why draft another when we have so many other needs. I think we totally screwed up this draft.
  19. I would have thought after the offseason we had we would stray away from questionable picks and we grabbed a guy who failed the drug test at the combine with a "diluted" sample. I am sure Ozzie did his due diligence but I thnk with his background he would have been there later and was a bit of a reach at this selection.
  20. Seems this offseason for the Ravens could have been even rougher than it already has been. Recently released WR Tandon Doss was arrested on Wednesday in Indianapolis following a disorderly conduct incident. Seems after the arrest the authorities chose not to press charges against the former Raven but with three players already having legal issues this offseason, another would have made headlines. As it is, not much is being reported concerning the incident I imagine because he is far from a star player and oh yeah, he plays for the Jaguars. Seems the FO continues to show their wisdom as certainly another offseason arrest would have been major news. As it stands, he is just another Jaguar in trouble and as many people care as show up for their games.
  21. Personally I would have preferred we used next years pick to move up in this draft and get someone great instead of using it to get someone marginally better than what we have now. Plus Ryan Jensen is a center possibility and he sat all last year so we don't even know what we wasted a pick on with him. In Oz we trust, but some moves this year have been confusing at best so it will be interesting to see just how wrong I am this year. That is why I post and question him and he actually is the best GM in the league. I was really convinced we were going to get at least one really good safety, center, running back or offensive lineman in free agency this year so I guess that explains my frustration but how can you argue with the best in the business. Go Oz and prove me wrong AGAIN.
  22. Ebron and Evans will be gone when we pick. Zuttah is either ranked 22nd or 24th depending on who is doing the ranking. Think about it, the guy didn't allow a sack and is rated that low. Means he is a good pass blocker but can't be much of a run blocker. Instead of being aggressive in free agency, we settled for a safety and a center who is run of the mill and we are cheering like we signed De LaPuente and Jarius Byrd. For those that are so happy, get ready to be disappointed. Both may or may not be better than what we have and are just competing for jobs, unlike De LaPuente and Byrd who are legitimate starters. Sorry, but I can't get excited by someone who ranks in the bottom 30% of centers in the league. The site can sell you a pig in a poke, after all it is the Ravens site, but ranking slightly higher than Gradkowski doesn't make you good, just makes you better than Gradkowski.
  23. Mack's agent is smart but when the NFL removed the poison pill in contracts in the CBA it really hampers the agents ability to craft a unmatchable contract. However, these guys get paid to do this. How about a clause where he has to get a dozen Chesapeake Bay crabs fresh from the bay once a week, or a Pit Beef once a week, still warm from Chaps, or how about if there is a clause that says the QB he snaps to has to be over 6'4". Seriously, let the Browns waste the 10 mil on him. They are hoping someone offers him a lesser contract that he accepts because then they only have to match that number not the 10 mil. He won't agree to a contract less than he will make at Cleveland and no one is going to pay him more than the best left tackle in the league. Especially Ozzie.
  24. I think having the type of educational tool that Smith provides to the younger receivers (Torrey Smith included) offsets whatever lost time Brown gets in the way of snaps. I believe in 3 WR sets it will be Brown, not Jacoby Jones, who lines up opposite Torrey Smith with Steve Smith in the slot (or vice versa). I think this is just a nail in the coffin of Deonte Thompson who for one reason or another could never prove himself enough to get playing time. With a young Aaron Mellette to go with Smith, Smith, Jones and Brown there isn't much room left. We carried 6 WR's last year and only 2 RB's which I am sure will change this year. For comparison, the Steelers carried 5 (not inc. practice squad) the Bengals 4. I would even be surprised if the Ravens took a wide receiver in the draft and instead opt for Zach Martin out of ND to play right tackle in the first round. We don't need Mosely, another ILB, and we won't select Pryor or Clinton-Dix because of putting a rookie with a second year player in his first year at strong safety.
  25. I would like to add that prior to his signing who would get in the face of Rice, Reid and Thompson after embarrassing the team. No one. Guess who will be jawing at those three come the first day of practice and not give a crap about what their lame excuses are. Harbaugh made sure the loud locker room vets were eliminated, Ozzie reinstated the old locker room by signing Smith. Do you think Edelman could be signed with what we had left in cap space? Those rumors were to keep Smiths feet to the fire. It worked. In Ozzie We Trust, at least some of us.
