  1. Funny, but the guys I think should be cut, never get cut. If Kendrick Lewis can stay on this team with as many games as he lost last year, and now he is in on one play and he is out of position again. Same way with James Hurst. You can't tell me that of all the left tackles in the world, there isn't one out there better than Hurst. You can't do any worse than just miss a guy who is rushing and both he and Jensen are guilty of that. Yes, Forsett should have been cut in the preseason and if Dixon had been healthy that might have happened. But Forsett is a Trestman casualty. And if Trestman keeps calling games like the last four, there are going to be either a lot of unemployed people who can't make a system work based on their skill set, or they are going to be injured. We should have blown out Oakland and all the numbers pointed to that. But Trestmans schemes are so vanilla and pathetic that a Pop Warner team could figure them out.
  2. The offense is failing to maintain drives and isn't completing downfield passes. I blasted poor Joe in here after the game but what I said was accurate, for the game plan that Trestman utilizes. Trestman has always been a dink and dunk, back out of the backfield, pass underneath play caller. Flacco is notoriously inaccurate when trying to dink and dunk, hit the short passes and any time he has to pull up his arm and throw underneath. Trestman is doing Flacco a tremendous disservice. Joe plays best launching the ball out on 15 yard out routes, not WR screens (that btw only work against us). He likes to hit the tight end on a seam route 30 yards downfield and I have seen him put them in Ed Dicksons and Pittas hands like he was handing them his new baby. Not since Torrey Smith left here have we been able to get a WR behind the corners where Joe loves to throw. Wallace and Perriman's speed is nowhere near as advertised. They have proven they are no faster than any corner we've seen. Joe needs that guy who can stretch the field. This is Joe Flacco of "The Miracle at Mile High". This is no dink and dunk QB. Yes was he known for dumping the ball off to Ray Rice who managed to always dig up yards. And its not to say he can't do it, but that's not his game and until Trestman realizes that he is coaching Flacco and not Cutler, this offense will never be better than pedestrian. If Trestman is this supposed offensive guru I guess it doesn't take much to be smart in the NFL because a child can see this. #FreeFlaccosArm (Listen to poor Joe's press conference where he's begging for plays that get chunk yardage or in the wired segment where he sits beside him in the Cleveland game and tells him we need to go downfield more,. As quiet as Joe is that is tantamount to screaming from a mountaintop for him.)
  3. I think West played great and I thought he should have started after game 1. At that time it was clear to about everybody that Forsett could not excel in the run game as they were exercising it. I guess my only criticism of the run game was why so little so late when clearly we were able to execute. I think it was 26 yards on 5 carries in the first half which is over 5 YPC. Why wouldn't you run more? I'll tell me why, because this is a Trestman offense. The run game succeeded almost in spite of Trestmans calls. And you can tell he can't call a run game, I went back and looked and after every successful run, he ran it again. Even after a 20 yard run play, he repeats the exact same call, every time. Instead of opening it up and taking a shot while they are reeling. Trestman has passes to running backs out of the backfield and short quick passes. That has been his offense everywhere he goes. He never has and no matter how much Harbs would like him to, he can't, won't, or doesn't know how to call a game plan that calls for running the ball regularly.
  4. Anyway, we can't afford to pay a QB 120 mil and have him be that inaccurate, miss that many open people and finally unable to get 5 yards in 3 plays. That's all we needed to get Tucker to where he could kick and win the game and we couldn't get 5 yards on 3 plays. Besides Flacco not being able to hit the broad side of a barn, I'm not even sure he sees the barn as bad as he misses it. 3rd and 10, Pitta is wide open and he throws it 5 yards short. Same way all day with passes. He wasn't even close. This was a big game and he acted like who cares. There is a difference in being cool and being apathetic. Any QB who doesn't at least try to do something to fire up his guys and show a little fire at that point isn't cool, he's stupid and a pathetic leader. I usually support Flacco but I just can't make excuses for him anymore. He is still riding the wave of a super bowl win that is already 4 years ago. He routinely is rated as one of the worst QBs in the league, lowest QBR or Passer rating, always one of the lowest rated offenses, lowest completion percentage, third Down percentage, you name it, he leads the league at being worst. No deep balls, no accuracy on short balls, unable to find the open receiver, face it, if he was anyone else's QB we would laugh at him. Flacco is elite has become a joke, why, because it's a joke to everyone that anyone considers him elite. Plenty of blame to go around, no doubts but it doesn't matter about anything, if you tie up that much money in one player who routinely under performs, it leaves you lacking on the roster (like a backup LT). The Ravens have to make a decision because for once we have the offensive weapons and our QB still can't do it. I think the offensive problems of the last 6 years has nothing to do with the running backs, wide receivers, or offensive line. We need a good QB.
  5. Waller is a must to return. No doubt. He is valuable on special teams and he showed an incredible knack for finding the open spots and gaining YAC during the preseason.
  6. I believe they are talking about the home record against Oakland.
  7. Oh Poor KO. He chased the money and I would imagine if he was really happy with his decision, he wouldn't be crying about it now. He had a choice, stay where you are comfortable and benefit in the long run with another super bowl win, or chase the money down a black hole, literally, THE black hole. Oakland is only surpassed in its failure by Cleveland.
  8. Just one thing to say to Ramsey, dude, you are three games into your pro career. It could end tomorrow. Don't be stupid and appreciate the game and those around you because it could be gone in one second. Also, you don't want to make your knees be targets, but if you continue the attitude, it only takes one TE making a block downfield to put you out for the season and make it look like he stumbled. Stop the cheap shots and stop posting pictures of how great you are. If your great, others will do that. If your not, then you don't deserve to post those pics. Big deal, you knocked down Justin Forsett who is ranked like 100th out of 100 runners in the league. Does that picture make you a man? Looks like you think so... The Ravens will shut down the Raiders and dominate them on offense. We are talking about the worst defense in the league and the only good games they had were against the 30th and 31st ranked defenses in the league (funny they played the two teams that played Monday night in that shootout, Atlanta and NO. No defense there) We are second in the league in defense and they are in for a rude awakening. Remember the game against Tampa when Joe put up 6 passing Td's in just over a quarter. Expect a game like that.
  9. The Raiders are the 32nd ranked defense out of 32 teams. If we don't totally blow these guys out at home, we have serious problems. They are equally bad against the run and pass and we should eat these guys up. Also, the Raiders offense is highly touted and they scored 30+ points in two games, but they did it against the 30th and 31st ranked defenses in the league. The only team worse on defense is them. They played the Titans ranked 11th and scored 17 pts. and zero pts. In the second half. Wait til they get a load of us. From what I see by the numbers, this is going to be an absolute, enjoyable blowout like we haven't seen in years. Joe will throw for 350+ yards and West will break 100 (providing they sit Forsett).
  10. In the running game, there is always an expectation that everyone can be blocked but one guy and it is the responsibility of the back to make that one person miss. Several ltimes Forsett was in a position to break a run if he just made that first guy miss and he failed. West, however, has been far more successful. My thoughts on the RBs, you can teach West to block, Forsett can;t change the way he runs. Time to make a change. I have been saying since preseason that Urschel showed more last year than Zuttah has shown since he has been here. I do not agree with Harbaugh that you should defer to the vet and give them a chance, I say play your best players. Urschel is clearly a better player. It is not unthinkable that Wright could make 11 tackles and suck in coverage. Part of a cornerback logging that many tackles is because he allowed a lot of catches in front of him. Yes he was good in the run game for a week, but there are 15 more weeks of football. Time to make a change there as well. You know, you can always put these guys back in, but I can't see wasting talent on the bench if there is a CHANCE they can improve the team.
  11. I do not worry because the Ravens have always played up to, or down to, their competition. Just get Joe to the playoffs. For whatever reason, all year long he looks like the guy with glasses walking into the phone booth, but when the playoffs hit, he is that guy that comes out of the phone booth with a big red S on his chest (and its not for Steve Smith, however, it could be). Anyway, all I worry about every year is just getting Joe to the playoffs knowing he has it from there. Never, ever has he gone to the playoffs and lost the first game, never.
  12. Seems they are pretty arrogant for a team that is 0-3. Bortles leaving the field to hide, Ramsey not only cheap shot Smith but I believe on the play that the Jaguars lineman got called for smacking Flacco's helmet, I believe it was Ramsey who cheap shot Flacco in the back. If you looked at Flacco he was raising his arms in the air after the play as if to say "you mean you aren't calling that," but Joe's reaction was to the shot in the back, not the lineman smacking his helmet. Also, Robinson's description of the fumble recovery saying he was going to push a Raven's blocker into Hester and then acting like he threw a blocker into Hester and grabbed the fumble is sheer imagination. He was locked up with a blocker and the blocker took him to the ground and it just so happened the ball was there. It would be like Flacco saying on the strip sack that he fought the pile to get the ball when in reality when the guy threw him over top of him, the ball was between his legs so he grabbed it. Just a little too much to stomach for a bunch of players that are 0-3 but perhaps the new coach will straighten them out, Bradley clearly doesn't have control of them and with his record, he isn't long for the head coaching job.
  13. I have said from day 1 that Trestman got here that he does not know how to call a game that actually utilizes a run game. No where he has every been has he done that. He has always been a pass first, backs out of the backfield and tight end pass play type of play caller. This isn't going to change. Then to add more misery, they change the run scheme by mixing in other types of run schemes and even some of the O-Lineman were quoted as saying that we are running a bunch of different schemes trying to figure out which one works best. The thing that I think really stands out to me is that Harbaugh is going to stand up and say we dont need a preseason. Here we are going into week 4, our QB has barely thrown to the receivers he has and it is obvious, we are still messing around with the run game to "SEE" what works, passes are thrown where routes aren't being run but yet we don't need a preseason. I love Harbaugh but he could not be further from wrong in making that statement. Obviously practicing against ourselves didn't help the receivers, the running backs, the quarterback or the OC, but we don't need a preseason. People get injured, it happens in every game, you have to build a team that has depth in the NFL now and you just can't ignore preseason whether you like it or not.
  14. I just want to mention there is another side to "the teams we played are 1-8". Perhaps they are 1-8 because we played them and that counts for 3 losses and they played other good teams. In every game there is a winner and a loser. Not every win is because we played a bad team yet the assumption is they are bad because they lost. The Bengals are 1-2 are they a bad team also???
  15. I thought maybe the CB issue was fixed with Wright in the first game but he has absolutely stunk up the joint the last two games. Lets hope he figures it out. Justin Forsett is looking more like the back he was before 2014 and less like the back of 2014. Clearly the running scheme has changed and doesn't support his style of running. We have to sit him and give Allen at least a chance to do better than these guys. At least West could get a little something going. Wallace and Perriman need to find their hands and while we are at it, Hester might also. Once again, Hester, like Wright, had one good game but other than that it is touchbacks, fair catches and a fumble. Hardly enough to drop Butler for. Hester was supposed to mean, if nothing else, ball security. There goes that thought. Coming home next week where the Ravens play their best ball and they are going to need it against Derek Carr who is a whole set above the QBs we have faced up to this point. Hopefully, the offense will figure it out because we just can't keep expecting the defense and special teams to close out and win games.
  16. Clearly Zuttah missed because Zuttah wanted to miss or Harbaugh would have elaborated. Maybe Harbaugh doesn't know why Zuttah didn't show up. People don't show and don't call in to work alot and usually they are quitting, retiring or by not showing up, they get fired. Maybe Zuttah realizes that he just can't do it anymore, media outlets are already calling for Urschel (and I am sure he sees that) and maybe he is just going to hang up the cleats. If he was a no call no show for practice (which makes sense if Harbaugh has no clue why he isn't there), one can only assume that he won't be playing on Sunday.
  17. I was on Mike Wallace since preseason. Also, he was the only WR who made the team (besides Aiken) who was there all offseason, OTAs, mini-camp. training camp, preseason and now the season. All those extra reps pay off. I picked Wallace as a WR on almost all my fantasy teams and either as a WR of a flex, he is racking up 16 points a week. Fabiano pointed to SSS and said to grab him up, but to me, Wallace was far more prepared. Speaking of Fabiano, this is the first week I can remember that Fabiano has picked Ravens in 4 of the 7 fantasy categories in his start 'em/sit 'em article. Wallace, Pitta, Ravens defense and Justin Tucker all got love from the fantasy people this week and Flacco has played soundly, just not blown the doors off yet. Not that fantasy counts for anything but fantasy, but its just nice to see the home town team get a little love.
  18. "Peyton Manning didn’t throw for 300 yards every Sunday." I hate excuses. If you had a bad game, or the receiver had your number or whatever the case may be, just admit it Ted. First, comparing yourself to Peyton Manning is a huge stretch, secondly, you sucked, what does Manning have to do with that, thirdly, be a man and take responsibility don't just say its the NFL, everyone else isn't perfect so why should I be expected to play sound defense and use appropriate technique when tackling. I hate excuses especially lame excuses.
  19. Joe Flacco wins games. That is what he does. He will never lead the league in passing, he will never have a great QBR, he will never be a number one qb fantasy pick, he may never even make a pro bowl. But what Joe Flacco has learned to do since he was a little kid was to win. I think at times he doesn't even get his blood moving until he feels the game is in the balance. I remember his 6 TD passing tear against Tampa Bay when he did it in a little more than a quarter. Would we love every game to be like that, yes, but that isn't going to happen with Joe Flacco. I think of Matt Stafford, Matt Ryan, Jay Cutler and several others who put up those flashy numbers and think would I want them to be my QB. You can argue if the played on the Ravens they would be more successful because of the defense, because of the run game or because of any because you can think of but I don't think so. I would rather have Joe and his streakiness, his frustrating inconsistency, his lack of fire, AND his ability to win games. Everyday and twice on Sunday (or Monday or Thursday as the case may be). Go Ravens!!!
  20. I think what these guys are doing is doing a better job of educating our kids, developing relationships and helping to create an environment in our inner cities that will lead to better interaction with those portions of society that are underserved than sitting or kneeling during the national anthem. Just my opinion. Would be nice if we could read an article where one of these guys who are "drawing attention" to a problem actually got off their asses and knees and did something productive that will help the community they are claiming to be protesting for. Anyone can protest, but very few can actually muster the intestinal fortitude to get up and do something about it when their bank accounts are so fat they don't feel they should have to do anything, other than draw attention to themselves. What a world it would be if the media actually focused on individuals like this instead of the others but I am sure the media doesn't think that doing good deeds is as big a money maker for them.
  21. I think our O-Line is suspect. I know I sound like a broken record but there has been constant criticism of Castillo, not only from fans, but from the media as well. He has one good year with Kubiak in 2014 and it seemed like all his failures from when he first got here til now were forgotten with that one year. I am not now nor was I ever sold on him. With the new rules governing blocking, the zone blocking scheme is virtually obsolete, but he still teaches it and it is still failing us. The only way to keep McCown from having one of his usual days against us is to be able to run and keep him off the field. If we can keep the Browns from gaining any sort of continuity or momentum we will be fine, but I made the Cam Cameron comparison earlier in the week as well and we are traveling down that same path again.
  22. Game 2 after winning game 1 has always been the Ravens Achilles heel (sorry SSS and Sizzle) and we need to turn that trend around. IMO, it is time to send a message to other teams on offense. We have a QB who can perform to that level (although his norm is inconsistency), we have the backfield to get it done, we have the Tight Ends to get it done and we have the Wide Receivers to get it done. If we can get Joe to have a couple back to back games where he doesn't throw a pick and can put some points on the board, the media and other teams will soon start to take notice. The defense is starting to get their due now after some re-tooling and it is high time the offense starting producing and getting the same recognition. Granted, it is great to fly under the radar early in the season but we have to put a stomping on to Cleveland and lets take control of this season. Just like Joe said, it would be nice to go in at half time with a three TD lead and "there ain't nothing to it but to do it." We have the talent, lets get it done.
  23. I love when writers like Zrebiec tell fans what their opinions should be. In most cases, writers are simply fans who think they know more than everyone else, not that they do, they simply believe that. Where I don't agree with the Suggs and SSS being washed up, I certainly agree with the fact that Trestman has always been a play caller who loved short passes and hitting the back out of the backfield. Matt Forte loved him when he was there for that reason, not because he ran the ball. He doesn't like to air it out and he doesn't like to run the ball, both things the Ravens have always hung their hat on. As far as Zuttah goes, he has never stood out as great, he has always been adequate and I don't think its disrespectful to a vet to lose their job when they aren't producing. Urschel played better last year than Zuttah has since he has been here, look at the PFF numbers. The NFL isn't about making Zuttah feel good because he is a vet, it is about putting the best players on the field.
  24. I don't like the gold at all with the purple. Color Rush or not, everything gold on these uniforms should have been black or white. The gold and purple reminds me too much of the Vikings uniforms. The vikings color rush uniforms are purple with yellow numbers and stripes. What did they do, make one uniform and just interchange the Ravens and Vikings uniforms by swapping out the name.
  25. Steelers looked good, no doubt about it, but last year the Steelers played us with a lot more weapons and we were a lot worse and still came out 0-2. Ben has a psychological block when it comes to the Ravens defense that he can't seem to push through. Lets hope that continues. I watched the game again with a lot of the plays in slow motion and Zuttah did not seem to me to be moving well. Don't know about last years injury but I do know that Urschel looked a lot better when he was snapping the ball last year. I am very worried about the play calling on offense. There was at least 4 maybe 5 quick pitches out to the running back and even Joe commented on it in his after game presser and the pundits have been talking about it as well. What worries me is remembering that Cam Cameron use to have these mental blocks as well but his was the end around. We would do 5 or 6 end arounds in every game. There wasn't much creativity both in plays and formations and it just is sadly reminiscent of the Cam Cameron days which we were hoping to leave behind. I felt both the run and pass calls and formations were extremely vanilla. Good thing Joe checked out of Camerons, oops, I mean Trestmans called play and made that throw to Wallace or we might have lost that game. Joe needs to do more of that.
