I like Ryan Kelly as a potential 1st rounder and I thought about taking him with my pick, but I had Butler as the better player and I couldn't justify using a second high pick on the OL when I'm already happy with the unit. I'm all for going for pure BPA, but that would have given me four Cs (five if you count Cann), including a big(ish) money guy, a high draft pick and two talented back-ups with upside, and it's hard to be the best player when you're sitting on the bench.

I went back and forth for almost an hour between Burns and Butler. There was another guy in the mix, but it was mostly those two. Excellent pick. Good scheme fit for Jacksonville.

No worries, I thought you'd gone to bed - which would have been perfectly understandable.

Just don't start engaging in lengthy trade talks. :P

No lengthy trade talks.. just lengthy debate. I was down to three players and I honestly couldn't decide. I filled out the reply multiple times before I ultimately decided to boost my cornerback unit. Acquiring Dee Milliner helps, but the group really needed a shot in the arm. I felt like I achieved that with a raw prospect that can be one of the better corners in the NFL down the road if developed correcty.

To tell you the truth, I would've been OK with just swapping Jeffery for Bowman, but I wanted to see how far I could stretch it. I really expected you to just deny me any receiver on the spot.

Though you did add a very nice receiver in Jeffery, you've made Mariota very happy. Along with putting Torrey where he belongs, as a #2 next to a good #1.

Like I said, you were a tough negotiator. I didn't get the vibe you were budging at all. If you were willing, well done on your part for masking it.

For the Wr's: I'm really betting on potential here. White and Cruz should be a decent pair if they can remain healthy, and Givens and Brown both flashed last year. Patton is a good talent as well, has both size and speed.

And as we all know, betting in potential has NEVER burnt a team in the past. Especially not one any of us would be familiar with. ( ;) )

And while this draft isn't loaded with receiver talent, it's got some decent depth. And the draft has lots of talent at my other positions of need, so filling out my MLB core was important to being able to focus in the safer prospects, instead of having to take a chance on whether a guy I want will be there on my next pick.

It also gave me some cap room for FFA so as to fill out some depth needs in the end.

It was also as you said. Jeffery is inconsistent and oft. hurt. Bowmen also bad been hurt, but less frequently

Kevin White and Victor Cruz can be a solid 1-2. Once Jimmy Graham is fully healthy, that's a very nice trio. Bears biggest weakness is ILB and LT in real life. You added a top 5 guy plus more. You squeezed more than I wanted to go, but you had way more weapons on offense than me and I needed the addition of a solid receiver.
