  1. Speed Kills. Givens is getting a great opportunity to be a part of this organization moving forward. I hope he makes the most of it, because he has the physical tools to be a great WR in the NFL and we sure could use a playmaker.
  2. Our schedule is easy, but there are definitely still a lot of things to clean up in order to beat the better teams in the league. Keep playing with heart, and playing balanced sound football, and we will be in a position to win every game. Jerry Rosberg earned his keep again last week. What he is doing to the special teams unit is impressive.
  3. The officials may have blown at least 4 false start penalties on the Chargers in that game. Then you throw in the PI on Arrington. How can officiating be this bad when the sport generates so much money?
  4. We are 2 1/2 games back of the 6th Seeded Jets who are 4-3 in the AFC, with plenty of time to make a surge. I'm hoping the media and the fans finally got under this teams skin because I think they needed it. Yes, there are plenty of holes on this team and we are probably not destined for SB50. If this team can come out ready to play with the heart that they showed against Cardinals and Chargers for the rest of the season I will be a proud Ravens Fan regardless of the W's & L's. That's all we should ever ask for. And I honestly didn't think we were getting that during a good portion of our slump.
  5. WR1: Aiken WR2: Givens WR3: Jeremy Ross. This is a WR competition in itself. For the No.3 Position next year. These guys are all in similar situations. They have been in the league for a few years but haven't gotten it done yet. It is a perfect opportunity to solidify themselves as Ravens. I'm intrigued to see how it shakes out.
  6. The Best WR to ever wear the Purple and Black: No. 89. And he only played 24 games for us. No one brought more guts and played with more passion that Smith. Such a pleasure to watch. We need to draft more guys that love the game like SR. Thats what Ray and Reed were all about. Thats how we win SB's.
  7. D- thus far Trestman.
  8. Steve Smith has made it pretty clear he is retiring. He wants to spend time with his family while they are still young. Keep dreaming about next year when we already cashed out of 2015. Man some guys are getting overpaid this year for what they have done on the field. Ozzie needs to reassess how to build a playoff contender with the new CBA and pass friendly rules. Why are we always at operating with no cap space? There are easy ways to avoid that, but Ozzie always seems to back load contracts and guarantee more money to guys who take paycuts leaving them on the hook for more money. Look at Webb and Flacco's contracts and you will see what I mean.
  9. AZ marked the first game this team played with any pride since week 1. We actually have an easy schedule this year, but failed to do anything with it because our leadership did not have everyone ready to play Raven football. Harbaugh, Trestman, Pees, Flacco, are all to blame. BTW, what went unnoticed in the AZ game is what an OUTSTANDING game Jerry Rosburg called for the special teams. He held one of the most dynamic returners in the game in check with some creative play calling, and also got a punt block. Koch and Tucker also deserve credit for their execution.
  10. The main issue is the cap space. If Pitta retires that will help, but Flacco's contract balloons up to 28M next year canceling out Pitta and Rice falling off. We have locked in, and incredibly overpaid for Webb by reducing his cap hit this year, we will pay for it in 2016 and 2017. He is set to have a cap figure of 9.5Mil next year. 3rd highest on the team. I could name 20 guys who we must keep over Webb. Jimmy's contract is no slouch either, but I believe with a solid rush he can be a great corner. We have to do it through the draft, but please just sign two Veteran WR's with gas in the tank.
  11. Crockett had him boxed out. A simple dart to Crockett would have worked out, instead he lobbed it over his head and took him off his post/corner route.
  12. Our cap situation is is bad shape also. Going into this offseason we are projected to be 3M under the cap, and there are a lot of important moves we will need to make including adding a veteran WR, and hopefully a pass rusher.
  13. These refs are awful. Not just one game, but the entire season. The rule book is so slanted towards the offense with unrealistic defensive penalties that could be called on virtually every play. And because the penalties could be called on every play it becomes a decision by the refs of when to call the penalties or who to call them on. Usually they choose the 1st quarter, but some crews will litter them throughout the game. Brandon Williams actually released Chris Johnson after progress was stopped and the play appeared to be over. And of course, "the rule book" has no answer for that play other than it is not reviewable. I got a kick out of Teryl Austin justifying the refs call on MNF instead of correcting the mistake. Go figure. The NFL as a viewing product is going downhill based on the offensive minded focus, likely driven by the belief that Fantasy Football get more viewers to tune in each week.
  14. In our 6 losses, Trestman and this offense have had the opportunity to go on a game winning drive and have failed to do so. If our defense put up that kind of effort in the first 6 games, I think we would be much closer to the playoff conversation. But it should be another lesson learned of how crucial each football game is and that there isn't any time to let games slip or take games off. Just remember that this team has some talented building blocks, but we have glaring weaknesses at a few positions that destroy our chances of winning consistently (including coaching).
  15. The Ravens have been sleepwalking on their opening drives this season, ranking as the slowest-starting offense in the league,%u201D wrote Hensley. %u201CBaltimore has more punts (five) than first downs (three) on its first drives of games, and the Ravens are one of two teams (the Houston Texans are the other) not to score a point the first time they touch the ball. Flacco is just too busy filming commercials. This team is frustrating!!!
  16. There is no doubt, we are going to get torched. The players prolly know it themselves at this point. We lack guys who would stand up and make a difference. I remember when we had a down year in 2007. New England came into our house undefeated, and went on to go 16-0, but it that game Ray Lewis, and Ed Reed had this team who was out of playoff contention playing like it was the super bowl. We should have won that game, and Miami would still be the only team to go 16-0, but somehow every call/break seemed to go the Pats way. That team was 10x what this team is today.
  17. We see ourselves as closer to turning the corner than bottoming out??? How would one see this after the performances on offense and defense the last 6 weeks? We are regressing every week and playing CB Roulette without a decent pass rush. Making bad QB's look like pro bowlers. Our offense has ZERO sense of urgency and waits until the 2nd half to play catch-up. I have seen some good special teams outings from Ross, Koch, and the coverage units, but that is the only improvement in my eyes. This team will lose @AZ, SD, STL, @CLE, SEA, PITT, and @CINCY. IMO our winnable games are the Jags at home, @MIA, and Chiefs at home. I would call those games 50/50.
  18. Too late for that... This year is all about positioning us for 2016 with a great draft pick and some cap space. AKA you will not make $28 Million Dollars next year.
  19. That takes talent since it seems to have new additions and subtractions every week! good job kid!
  20. DEAN PEES: Your blitz every play to create pressure leaves our DB's on an Island with no help. We don't have Revis, Sherman, and Trufant on our team. We are terrible at disguising blitzes and many times when we bring more than they block the opposing QB knows exactly where to go with the ball. If you had your bad games, and then could put together some good efforts, I would have some faith, but since losing Suggs, we had one of the worst defenses in the league and every QB we have played, minus the steelers conservative playing calling with bum Vick, has torched us. Embarrassing performances every week. FIRE PEES NOW!!! Unless you want first pick...
  21. Flacco is the same old Flacco. We just learned more about him this year, and what he needs around him to be a winner. He needs a competent defense, a good coordinator, good o line, and weapons to throw to (AKA Veteran WR's since we can not develop WR's). The Hensley article is misguided, but I agree with some of his points.
  22. 1000X Thumbs up. This team lacks vocal leaders that care about wins and losses and have the ability to do something about it.
  23. Without a pass rush we stand 0 chance on defense. Losing Mcphee, Ngata, and Suggs created a talent issue despite what you might think. That is part of the reason why our corners are getting torched. A good pass rush covers up or makes average corners and safeties look good.
  24. This just proves you can win a SB with Flacco, but you can also be the worst team in the league with Flacco depending on the personnel and coaching around him. With that said, his contract needs major restructuring. He is not and never will be Rodgers or Brady. That's okay though. We just have to admit $28 mil a year is way too much for what he brings to the table. http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/baltimore-ravens/joe-flacco/
  25. Oh Ozzie... why did you play CB shuffle and waive Melvin and let him land with the Pats? he was actually a good developmental player who had a rough game coming off of an injury. I remember a quote saying you would never let the secondary get into the situation it was in last year. IMO this secondary is 10x worse. And you want to know why? We can't get after the QB without blitzing and we blitz almost every play under this Dean Pees Defense. We don't have 2 shutdown corners AKA we NEED a PASS RUSH!
