WR: Need a big receiver that has great hands if anything. Wallace, Perriman are out only decent weapons left.
Oline; we need an anchor at Center. Zuttah isn't horrific but he has 0 push at the line to move defenders. Resign Wagner as priority #1. Rest of the line will fall into place when Lewis gets more experience.
I agree, but, we need a slot wr too.

Because he was a Te and is a Wr hater.
2 hours ago, Ravensfan23 said:Does anyone think that Pitta has done enough this season to dismiss the hip injury concerns and if that's the case does he have trade value much like Boldin and Ngata?
I know it will be an unpopular decision and we still don't know what we have at TE behind him, but I think if he's clearly recovered that Watson can take over that veteran presence you want to have at TE to help the young guys develop. He'll count for 4Mil against the cap and I think that will be lowered. Pitta will count for 7.7 and even though his stats say he did well, I think that tank is leaning more towards E than it is F. Pitta at 31 has a few more productive years left to help groom a young QB, but for what the Ravens appear to be doing offensively I don't think he fits anymore. Waller, Maxx and Boyle have to be the focal point moving forward imo. Both Watson and Gilmore can come to camp as insurance and compete but I think those 3 guys are the future.
Watson had one really good year with Brees and he's old! Cut him , as we have to many younger Te's. Now, with Boyle playing as our blocking Te, Pitta has time to roam. He had like 75 catches, that's better than most number one wr's and would have had more if Boyle or Max played more this season. Who's going to make up for that loss? That's going backwards in my mind.
3 minutes ago, rmw10 said:It doesn't matter how many you have if they aren't effective. Dumervil is a cut candidate at his salary. You could cut Za'Darius and very few people would bat an eye. You can keep 6 and still consider Correa as a backup option at ILB. Regardless, talent is needed there and it shouldn't matter what else you have, especially when those guys are passable at best at this point. If you find a young, stud pass rusher and opt not to go that route because you already have 5, that's a quick way to get fired.
I wouldn't cut Doom, he still has plenty left in the tank. He just missed a crucial strip sack of big ben in the fourth quarter. If you review the footage you will see the play. Saying that, I would cut Smith and Correa to get a premier pass rusher. Otherwise, next year, I would start Judon and Doom and bring Sizzle off the bench.
3 hours ago, OUravensfan said:Will Flacco ever have WRs/TEs that don't let him down? The one time they came through Flacco got criticized as being bailed out by them, so tired of our biggest losses being defined by plays not made by a pass catcher, it has really gotten old.
Ben throws short of the end zone, time would have expired, he throws to AB triple teamed who gets in for him, Ben the hero.
Actually, Pitta, Boyle and Waller catch pretty darn good. Flacco was erratic this year with passes to high, behind , or otherwise uncatchable. So, I see no weakness at the TE. Wr's have been awful, plain awful, basically hideous, probably the worst in the league, now that SSS is retiring.
23 hours ago, polynesian15 said:Dude, we NEED outside pass rush... really bad! Better O-line and give Breshad more time to develop, I think he'll be good.
Top draft needs imo: edge rush, O-line, secondary... after that another WR wouldn't hurt.
Just as important, coaching (duties) needs to improve/change.
We only carry 5 OLB's
Doom (1 )is still a top player and Suggs (2) is coming back. So, Correa (3) needs to step up as Judon (4) is developing nicely, and Smith (5) is still developing,
Who do we get rid of?
We need a Center
We need Corners
We need safeties
We need Wr's
Now that SSS is retiring, name one wr currently on the roster that is a consistent receiver, can get open, run the correct routes, and knows how to help a Qb when the pocket collapses? Yep, we have none.
Of course, we need pass rush, so, I can only see Smith as the odd man out.
If I were a player or coach, I'd play to win the game. As a selfish fan , I say drop the game, as a loss gives us a higher pick in each Draft round and a better waiver claim.
2 hours ago, Gruntled Ravens Fan said:At the current rate we're going, it'll probably be another 2-3 years before we are serious contenders.
We were a Wr or Cb away this year. Every loss came from either lack of Wr play or lack of Cb depth.
14 hours ago, jboy19 said:I feel good about the team at this point. Yeah injuries kinda bit them at the worst times this year, but I dont think the FAs are that significant this year. No disrespect to Williams or Wagner, but I feel decent about their potential replacements- Pierce and Lewis. Juice coming back probably depends on who the next OC is. The biggest needs are probably at OLB, WR, and CB (like always), but I don't think we need any unnecessary draft reaches or overpays.
I feel better than I did 2 hours ago and I'm already excited for the draft and offseason.
We need a mauler at Center, too.
1 hour ago, ratedr said:Clowns are gonna blame the offense for this somehow. The defense is overrated trash. Stop using the Jimmy excuse, he's not the only player on defense. They cannot make a clutch stop to save their lives and haven't since the Super Bowl. If Pees stays another season Harbs needs to go too.
The WRs and TEs are not playmakers, period.
Flacco and the RBs played well, as did the line.
With the chips on the line we put SSS in the backfield to make something happen. That's an offensive strategy that some of the better offenses have been using the over the last few years, maybe we are catching up!????? That also brings up my never ending issue with our team; we need a damn good slot receiver. A receiver with burst and breakaway speed. If Camp had it, he would have scored in the fourth.
Once again: Christian MCcaffrey in 2017
On 12/24/2016 at 3:05 AM, JoeyFlex5 said:cant believe this got a thumbs up.
to say he cant catch, when he has made a jaw dropping spectacular catch nearly every week this season, is ridiculous. nobody blamed flacco(although flacco has missed him on multiple touchdowns where perriman beat his defender like he stole something) but its often a timing and mental lapse thing. and believe it or not, its extremely common with uber-talented receivers. fun fact, dez bryant has a 50% catch rate, steve smith and anquan boldin have each had seasons with the ravens where they were near the tops in the league in drops, demaryius thomas and julio jones have also had seasons with absurd drop numbers. its really far more common than you think.
for perriman to come in here and far surpass his floor despite 2 knee injuries and missing both training camps and going nearly 2 years without playing a single game snap, is impressive in itself. for him to come in and make some of the spectacular catches hes made, and even better show development in his route tree and show the ability to beat the best corners in the league over the top, is incredible. 400+ yards and multiple td's is an excellent first year for him when considering all the factors.
some people would rather see the most exciting draft pick in years bust just so they can say "i told ya so" rather than see him excel and do well. i seriously do not understand this mentality.
Okay, I did a little research and found this: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/2136743/christian-mccaffrey

Further google him and check out Wikipedia for some family history.
5 hours ago, JoeyFlex5 said:hes a rb. what makes you think he just translates to slot receiver and does well in the nf?
He plays all over the field, he even goes wide. He is a better athlete, faster, stronger and runs shiftier than the combination of Wes Welker and Julian Edelman.Let's compare him to Barry Sanders Heisman trophy season---- mind you these stats are only one season.
|
Player |
All-purpose yards |
Rushing yards |
Receiving yards |
Kickoff Return yards |
Punt return yards |
|
Christian McCaffrey |
3,496 (8.5 per play) |
1,847 (5.8 per rush) |
540 (13.2 per reception) |
1,042 (28.9 per return) |
67 (4.8 per return) |
|
Barry Sanders |
3,249 (8.2 per play) |
2,628 (7.6 per rush) |
106 (5.6 per reception) |
421 (20 per return) |
94 (9.4 per return) |
Okay, he mainly played Rb in college but, in the NFL, I along with many analyst, believe he will be better used in the slot. This guy is extremely dangerous! No doubt a terrific player and probably the 2017 offensive rookie of the year.
38 minutes ago, JimmyBlack said:We still need to grab another receiver and resign Wallace before the draft.
I've been saying Christian McCaffrey in the draft. He's going to be a great slot, in fact, anywhere on the field.
2 hours ago, Ravensfan23 said:I was joking saying you hated him. Perriman is a unique situation. He hasn't had developmental time and he's not 100% recovered from the knee issues. Remember he had to recover from injuries on both knees. As fast as Perriman is, i truly don't think he's at full speed right now. When the combination of the game slowing down for him and the fact that he'll be fully over the knee issues, that's when we'll see the real Perriman. If you actually watch him now opposed to before the injury his rookie season, he runs with a bit of a hitch. So i don't think he even reaches full stride right now.
I think we'll see an huge jump from playing year 1 to year 2.
I really hope your right. Our Offense has been dismal since Marchibroda.
2 hours ago, Ravensfan23 said:Darrius Heyward-Bey? Really???? Perriman basically has more production as a 4th WR for the Ravens this year than DHB had in his first 2 seasons as a starter for the Raiders.
DHB started 25 of 26 games played in his first 2 seasons. 35recs 490yds 2TDs. He never once showed signs, flashes, moments or anything of being a #2 WR let alone a #1WR. He was targeted 40 times with 9 catches and 6 drops in this rookie year. His 2nd season he improved by being targeted 65 times with 26 catches and 3 drops.
If you don't like Perriman just say so but don't insult the man by comparing him to Heyward-Bey
I've seen many compare him to Demaryius Thomas and I think that's a fair one. I think the biggest issue Perriman has right now is confidence. I don't think there is an issue with self confidence I just think its a matter of not having those training camps to cut his teeth against guys like Jimmy everyday and not really getting that experience where he's taken over a game this year. Once he and Flacco get a chance to get on the same page for a full training camp like you metioned I think this guy is gonna make every Ravens fan happy with his play. AB and Green will have to make room for this kid because he's gonna rival the better WRs in the AFC North
I don't hate the guy, but, I am not happy with his performance, yet. He had the dropsies in college and a few drops so far in the NFL. A few games ago, I saw where he could 've fought for the ball, but allowed the defender to get the upperhand. So my jury is out, as I expect a first round pick to come in and be effective, right away. Especially, with all the hoopla about his physical stature and blazing speed.
I was hoping Julio Jones, but right now, he looks like Darrius Heyward-Bey. He's not playing much, drops some passes and then makes a couple fantastic catches. He's shown top end speed on a terrific crossing pass a couple games ago, but he's not consistent. As JoeyFlex5 led, let's wait to see how he performs coming out of camp next year. Hopefully, Flacco will be back on track and Breshad has more time with the jugs machine.

The Steelers are ascending, are on their field, feel just as desperate for a W and the crowd will be raucous. We need to play error free offense, try to run the ball, win the time of possession allowing our D to get adequate rest and pound the Steelers offense every chance we get. Tough outing but it can be done if we call a flawless game and Joe doesn't have any mental breakdowns and plays well.
I say bring them on. I can't wait for the game, that's if, the OC allows us to run 20 plus times. We need to smash the steelers right in the mouth, and continue smashing them for the entire 60 minutes.

The Good,ahhh....... maybe? : Finally? Maybe? The organization realizes we can utilize our backs rushing and receiving, to control the game.
REAL UGLY: The attempt by Weddle to tackle Wentz, which resulted in a TD.
I hear Sproles is out. That's huge!

Hey, competitors expect to win every play, whether in practice or a game. The team is currently 7-6 and 12- 21 over the last 2 years. You think he's happy? I'm not! He's certainly not looking for a participation trophy, he want's the Ring! Flacco's game has been off and the O/C's play calling is horrible. Flacco is begging for more run calls and a no-huddle offense, which seems to have fallen on deaf ears. If you give Joe what he wants, I bet his play will excel.
The good: Confirmed Dixon and Boyle are our future on Offense.
The bad: We need corners, wide receivers, and pass rushers....yada, yada...yada. Same old story for years now.
The Ugly: Offensive play calling, whereas, when play calling appears to be working we can't keep the rhythm for more than one series.

If the draft were today, we would hold the17 pick in the draft with a record of 8-7. So far, 3 teams are tied with 8-7 records, while Washington is 8-6-1. Buffalo, Saints and Bills are tied at 7-8 (13 ,14 &15).
Get the picture? We need to lose to get a highly regarded prospect. If we win, we would be 21 at worst.
