and where do you get this definitive knowledge that christian mccaffrey would have painted over the rest of our team's flaws enough that we'd go to the playoffs - you're allowed to love mccaffrey but don't start making inane and unevidenced statements like that

I watched the games. I saw so many opportunities where we could have kept a drive alive. I saw so many 3 and outs. I saw so many completions falling short of the first down marker. I saw so many terrible returns in the kicking game. I saw where the drives fell to far from fg range and we  had to punt.  There u go!

  2. Here we go, finally going to get an electrifying spark plug on Offense! Just think, if last season we had the caliber player of a Christian McCaffrey, we would have won so many of those close games. We would have went to the playoffs, deep into the playoffs! To think, the addition of one playmaker added to the existing team could have accomplished that much, is mind blowing.

The time is now to get that dynamic, versatile player.......send in the card Oz!

  3. There's no way we go defense with the first pick. After solidifying our secondary through free agency and having so many replacement defensive players on the active roster,( Correa, Judon, Pierce,Davis, Smith, Kaufusi ) I can't see it happening. The roster is only so big and all the apparent holes are on the offensive side of the ball. We need a Center, Possession wr, and a slot wr. Alex Lewis should take the RT position.

Either Corey Davis or my pick, Christian McCaffrey, should be the call come draft day.

Playing slot receiver is about much more than just having good hands. The fact that you attempted to reduce the role to that is just plain stupid and maybe a little insulting to the actual slot receivers in the league and the draft. If it were just about catching well why wouldn't buck Allen be a good candidate to play there? The way you are describing him just makes me agree with @JoeyFlex5 even more about a guy like Curtis Samuel. What is annoying is that your argument doesn't support your player...

You obviously don't get it and I don't have time to enlighten you. Just scroll back on my posts and review the footage I supplied, the analyst will walk you through it.

so you are drafting a running back in the first round to play mostly as a slot receiver? why not take an actual slot receiver with a less steep learning curve later in the draft?

A true slot receiver won't give you the mismatches that Christian can establish.. McCaffery can start in the rb position and then jump into the slot, so the defense won't have time to substitute, hence, the mismatch. BTW, Christian might have the best hands in the draft, so you statement of a steep learning curve is otterly absurd.

Are you suggesting we take McCaffrey with the 16th pick? Might not be crazy since his stock seems to be seriously rising and he could also help out on spteams but it just doesn't seem that would be a Ravens move plus I see him more as a specialty player not a featured back.

I would use him all over, and maybe even feature him when it's called for. My outlook would be to see him used mostly in the slot, with Dixon or West in the backfield. Drafting the likes of a Chris Godwin or Zay Jones in the second would catapult us up with the best receiving corps in the league. Can you picture that? Even if we opt for another position in the second, we could use our fourth on Amba Etta-Tawo a real nice possession guy. Then we could run out Perriman, Wallace, Etta-Tawo, with McCaffrey out of the backfield ,motion or the slot.

you know we have Danny Woodhead right?

Danny is a real, real good player. But, he's getting up there in age and is coming off a serious injury. Even when young, he couldn't do what McCaffery can do.If people would take a minute and seriously compare Christian to the other choices, they will find he carries more worth. He will be immediately successful in the NFL . He has the " it "  factor, a complexity of greatness.

I was with every single word you said all the way up until you said the name Christian McCaffrey...then you lost me along with all credibility. What in the world makes you think he would be a good fit or that he is even worth a first rounder? There used to be a time where nobody would even touch a running back in the first round period.

For sure. That extra ammunition from the Jernigan trade will help with that if so. Thank god the comp picks are finally trade-able this year.

I guess you don't get the concept of what McCaffrey can do for an offense. What he brings to the table as a wide receiver, running back, and returner.

    1. DEFENSE wins Championship !
    2. Decosta mentioned in the Pre-Draft conference call that we might pick a CB between RD 1 to RD 3
    3. If there is a top flight Pass rusher at 16 we pull the trigger.
    4. We can address WR/OL between RD 2 to RD 4

When you finally have the opportunity to grab a number one receiver (Williams or Davis) you do. We drafted defensive help last year and there are many "next man up" on the roster. We also filled holes in the defensive secondary through free agency, therefore, I can't see us not using the first pick on an absolute offensive stud. My pick is well known on this board and hopefully the Ravens staff catches wind of it. ......Christian McCaffrey!!!

Our Defense can be as good as anybodies but we still face the same problem we always face, when the D gets the offense the ball back we dont have the playmakers to get the ball in the endzone. And its shaping up like we gonna spend all our picks on the oline, Still no solid young WR its pathetic they dont address this, and dont bring in some old WR to be here for 3 years than retire im sick of that. I want an odell type someone young

Yes, our defense has always been good enough to get to , and win us a Super Bowl. Our Achilles heel, has always been our passing game and play calling. People that can't see this are delirious! If we had any kind of offense, we should have multiple super bowls by now. Looking back, at every playoff loss to the Steelers and Patriots , I find the cause to be inept skill position players and horrendous play calling.

It's time to throw the old selection process out and start anew.

  11. RE: Position that needs to be addressed in rd 1 - Going down the list to running back it's important to note that Christian MacCaffery is switching to receiver for the draft. He worked out as one at his Pro Day and looked the part with crisp routes and sticky hands. I doubt teams are really considering him as a top running back prospect at this point and more of a utility player. Whether that helps his draft spot or not remains to be seen, but one team that should take him in round 1 is the Ravens. McCaffery in the slot would be an immediate starter and chain mover for Joe for years to come.

    No doubt

Oh yeah, you know, Campanaro & Reynolds, throw in Woodhead too (real ex Pat). That's 3 guys that can be replaced by 1 person. And yes, McCaffery is the real deal. He is the epitome of a smart, head ups, playmaker in the mold of an Edelman/ Welker/ Lewis / Vereen/ Faulk/ Ridley/ Meggett, players that have helped carry New England to soooooo many Super Bowls. However, he is better than them all.....way better.

    What/who are the Patriot clones?

I really dont even have the slightest clue as to who you could be talking about.

And funny you say to get rid of the "Patriot" clones (again, whatever that means) and to trade up for McCaffery; who pretty much everyone says is the epitome of the kind of offensive weapon the Patriots value.

  15. After Christian McCaffrey's Pro day, we might have to trade up to get him. IMO, this game changer, play maker, team changer is the exact the type of player the Ravens front office has longed for. Draft him and say goodbye to the so called "Patriot" clones. Those wasted roster spots can now be used to replenish the linebacker position, with fresh young talents.
