  1. No thank you to Kirby. He may be well respected, and be a fiery animated guy with a great personal story... But as far as success, the running game wherever he has been hired has actually gotten worse under him than his predecessor. http://www.behindthesteelcurtain.com/2013/11/26/5146682/steelers-running-statistics-rushing-nfl-leaders-dick-hoak-kirby-wilson I'd prefer someone with a clear record record of success, please.
  2. The Ravens are good at disguising their intentions...I hope this is one of those times. While I wouldn't be devastated if Hostler got the job, I think there are more qualified candidates for the position. Then again, I'm just a fan...I'll be rooting for whoever they pick to succeed.
  3. Yeah it's from the same ESPN article.... Here's the link to the whole thing: Redskins Liked Kyle Shanahan's Offense I'm with you, I could take a little "too cute" from time to time as long as the offense was creative and played to the strength of out guys. The passing thing doesn't really have me worried because his offenses have generally been top-10 in running the ball.
  4. I posted this quote in the thread on Harbaughs statement about the candidates:
  5. I'm not ruling him out, it's just that his drop percentage is sort of a red flag. It may very we'll be that he has difficulty with the deep ball and that's not how we would use him (already having Torrey), but I think it is something that has to be considered if you're thinking about using a first round pick on him.
  6. I'm not sold on Lee, he dropped 12% of the catchable passes thrown at him last season. We already have a problem with drops from our receivers.http://www.rotoworld.com/articles/cfb/46006/349/peshek-top-4-wr-metrics
  7. We interviewed Kyle Shanahan, not Mike.
  8. True for sure. Not saying the guy is a miracle worker, but with a gimpy RG3 who didn't play the whole year, he still got them to a #9 ranking. Heck, even Kirk Cousins looked like an all-pro against us last year...
  9. Again, just so we can keep things straight, Kyle Shanahan is hardy a run-option specialist and pretty much zero chance he would bring that here. He's from the West Coast Offensive family via Mike Shanahan and Gary Kubiak. He brought elements of the read option to DC only because they drafted Griffin. Also, it seems pretty clear that the front offense wants a philosophy shift away from the Coryell on offense. they've been looking to implement zone blocking since 2011, and brought in Castillo in to fully implement it, they didn't bring in Castillo in for the heck of it and let him run any scene he wanted...just like they're not looking for an OC just to fit Castillo's scheme. Rather they want someone to fit the organization's new philosophy, of which Castillo is a part. Turner has the same basic philosophy as the one we're moving away from. He's not a match with the shift, therefore it wouldn't make much sense to bring him in.
  10. I agree. I saw that article a little while ago and it raised some red flags. But when u thought about it, it seemed like sour grapes...like you say, could've been put out there by one of Snyder's guys. Plus, that article is sort of a stand alone...one would think that if all of that was true, a team reporter from the post would have already picked up in and exposed it. Like you, I wouldn't take anything coming out of that circus in DC at face value.
  11. Just throwing it out there, but the Houston offense when he was OC was pretty impressive stats-wise.
  12. Not to mention it would only be a short move for Shanahan too...ba dum bump
  13. He certainly makes a compelling case. I'm still hoping they interview someone from the Patriot's system. I really think Joe could excel in the E-P system, and the team as a whole seems to built for it. "Run to win, pass to score" sounds good to me.
  14. My (hopeful) take is that the front office has been preparing for this since Caldwell's interviews were scheduled, and if they were going to promote from within, they would have already announced the replacement.
  15. Not seeing much buzz about him, any other teams talking to him? Think he's ready to make the next step? I see he does have some playcalling experience, albeit at Mercyhurst College.
  16. Dang, I fed the troll, didn't I? lol
  17. Current? so Joe doesn't work with his receivers in the two weeks since the season ended, therefore he never works with receivers in the offseason? Even though there were links from multiple past offseasons indicating that he does, in fact, work with his receivers in the offseason? That's some mastery of logic
  18. No problem, these were just a couple of links I found after a quick search. For some reason, Joe gets way too much undeserved criticism. Of course, there are legitimate criticisms, but his work ethic isn't one of them. I think a lot of people mistake his laid back demeanor as disinterest or laziness, when that's not the case at all.

The idea was to work on timing, something Flacco and the receivers struggled with at times a year ago. “Joe has grown into being one of the best,” receiver LaQuan Williams said. “He doesn’t get a lot of credit, but he works so hard and pushes us.” Read more: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/sep/6/joe-flacco-ravens-qb-makes-quick-work-of-offense/#ixzz2qPjslRyV Follow us: @washtimes on Twitter
  20. I know he's not on a par with Boldin, Marshall or Bryant, but I'm really hoping that Mellette could be that guy for us. He's got the body type and hands to be physical. Maybe it's just wishful thinking...I'm a sucker for the small school and late round success stories.
  21. Could very well be. Our plays were also fairly vanilla and straight off the route tree without much scheming to get guys open. That said, there are those "slippery" guys who always seem to be open regardless of formation or route. I'd love for us to be able to find one of those guys.
  22. Really, I would to get someone with the knack to get open and with good hands, regardless of the "category" of receiver he is.
  23. Would be nice to see a few more of these, if only to keep the thread visible. I've noticed some recent posts that included the myths about time of possession and Oher's penalties.
  24. I just mentioned this on another thread. In the last two games, we lost the total TOP to Cincy by under 4 minutes, and had the ball 2 minutes longer than the Pats in that loss.
  25. Watching him fly off his feet when he ran into Yanda's butt was just embarrassing.I'm not prepared to say he's done, the O-line was so bad this year it affected everyone. However, something was clearly not right with him this year, whether it was the injuries, or all that extra bulk throwing off his balance. Either way, he needs to figure it out and fix it. Hopefully, with better O-line play, he'll be back to form for next year.
