  1. Also said Wade Harman won't be here either. Yeah, talk about a soap opera.
  2. I've been thinking the same thing. I really want him on the staff, but who could blame him if he said no? Our luck he'd end up with the Browns.
  3. Agreed. Think he'd be good for Joe in that role, not to mention he'd be right here to step in as OC when Kubiak inevitably gets offered a HC job next year.
  4. No word on other staff; hope that doesn't mean Shanahan's not coming. I actually think he's a better play caller than Kubiak...at least recently.
  5. All the insiders (Shefter, Wison) at al. are talking like its a done deal, just waiting on Kubiak (I assume he's negotiating wih Shanahan and Dennison to fill out his staff).
  6. You can say that again. It went from, "Oh no, Hostler's a finalist and it's going to be him" to "can you believe they're trying to put together an all-star coaching staff with 3 former OCs and a head coach" in one day. TBH, I'm not sure how I feel about this. I was happy thinking just we could potentially have just Shanahan. I mean, it sounds great on paper (getting all 3), but can they all get on board with on system in one off-season? There was a lot of talk about "too many cooks" last year, could this trifecta be even worse in that regard with too many voices? If it does succeed and the Ravens put together a great offensive year, then we have a case where at least 2 of them are gone after a year anyway (Kubiak to a likely HC position, and Shanny or Dennison as OC of another team, with the other promoted to our OC), so it would be just like renting these guys for a year anyway. We'd be in the same boat again next year looking for more coaches, so wouldn't it make more sense to get a guy and staff together that could potentially stick aound for a few years. Another thing that has me a bit apprehensive is that Harbaugh already said he wants a downhill, attacking offense, while Kubiak's playcalling was considered fairly conservative last year. How's that going to work? It's also why I'd prefer Shanahan as the play caller. Sorry for the long post, was just typing out some random thoughts. Maybe I'm completely wrong, and we can get the "dream team" and put up numbers like Denver/New England/New Orleans next year (man wouldn't that be nice with our D?). However this thing turns out, it sure just got a whole lot more interesting.
  7. Had a similar thought about Shanahan and Hostler, but maybe Dennison makes more sense as a RB coach since we also have that vacancy. Like you said, though, who knows?
  8. The more I think about it, the more I wonder if the Dennison isn't just due diligence on the Ravens part. I mean, the Ravens run a classy organization, and what does it say to get down to two finalists with an announcement expected in a day, then give the job to a third hour candidate? Yes, I know you always want to get the best person regardless, but it isn't like Dennison became available yesterday...if he was a serious contender they would have had him in, then had a second interview. That being said, they might also be gauging his interest as a position coach, although with the Bears rumored to be interested in him, getting him and Shanahan might not be possible. My bet is still on Shanahan, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Hostler bumped to QB coach.
  9. Just when you thought you had things figured out.......
  10. Or a Preston trying to stir the pot. I'd be much more inclined to believe it (and be much more chagrined) if it came from Aaron Wilson.
  11. I saw that this morning, but thought maybe all of the optimism was based on something more substantial than Shanahan's wiki...althougth TBH, it could be an unintentional leak, thinking that the announcement would be made today. I'm of the opinion that the candidates have already been informaed of the choice, but the team is waiting to announce it for whatever reason (some have suggested it was because of the mall shooting in Columbia).
  12. Not that I'm complaining, but what is everyone basing this on? Has there been a leak somewhere?
  13. One can only hope.
  14. It was reported that the interviewed Charlie Taaffe, the OC from Central Florida, so I imagine there were probably some more interviews from the college ranks that we didn't hear about.
  15. I saw it in a tweet from Ian Rapoport: #Bills have til Mon to decide if they’ll allow DC candidate Jim O’Neil to take CLE job. If not, Ravens LB coach Don Martindale is a target
  16. No offense, but unless your close friend's name is John Harbaugh, Ozzie Newsome, Eric DeCosta or Steve Bisciotti, I'm not getting my hopes up too soon (although to me, Shanahan is the logical choice).
  17. I saw that too...if the Bills don't let Jim O'Neil take the job, supposedly "Wink" is their next target.
  18. Didn't realize that was a third. Then again, that is the Browns...
  19. Yeah...can't remember the last time I heard of a coach having a third interview with any team, if ever.
  20. Unfortunately, we don't know how much responsibility he had, let alone which aspects of the offense he was responsible for.Whatever way they go, I hope he get a decision soon. (I'm pulling for Shanahan)
  21. They had a QB coach in DC so I imagine Shanahan might look to bring him here if Joe felt comfortable with him. Seems to suggest he wouldn't assume both roles here even though he was a QB coach before.Agreed that Kirby would (at least should) bring somebody in. Don't know what Hostler would do, but they had one in SF when he was OC.
  22. I'm thinking that they wanted to get the first round done, then bring back the finalists back for a second. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I think it's a good sign that Shanahan was called back first (at least for me, he's my choice). He's the only one that reports said had a "good interview."
  23. I've seen the article, but honestly don't put too much stock in it since it's a one-off with no collaborating reports from other outlets. Sounds like sour grapes out of that circus in DC. For a different perspective including players' thoughts: http://m.espn.go.com/general/blogs/blogpost?blogname=nflnation&id=110625&src=desktop I think the above is more accurate. But even if there is some truth in first article, you can be pretty confident it won't happen in Baltimore with the how strong the organization is.
  24. I'd like to see this happen too.
  25. I'd give him a pass if it was just Pittsburgh, but it happened in Tampa and Arizona too. That's not just a bad circumstance, but a pattern...definitely a red flag for me.
