  1. Here's the link where I got those two quotes, it was te last place I visited before posting....and yeah, I'm happy too lol
  2. I agree. Personally, I think entirely too much is being made of his drops. As noted many times, they were the result of concentration issues, not bad hands, and he has steadily improved in that area. The front office and coaches also feel that this is something that isn't much of a concern and can be corrected. Let's also not forget that as others have noted, "concentration drops" were weaknesses listed in the scouting reports of guys like Andre Johnson, Julio Jones, Demaryius Thomas and Odell Beckham to name a few - these guys turned out ok, I'd say. As another point of reference, I was scanning the fantasy football sites (they seem pretty consistent that Perriman is a definite draft in Rookie leagues), and I found these analyses:
  3. Who else picked Perriman in the draft poll the other day? I was really hoping he fell to us (and surprised he did, actually), but with his size, speed, talent and football bloodline, I think he could turn out to be the stud WR we've been waiting for in Ravens Nation.
  4. I think it's a good signing, will help us immediately and hopefully be an example if how to play on the field for our younger guys. Successful teams always have a good mix of youth and veterans. Let's hope S Smith can have the same effect on Brown et al like Q had on Torrey. Just realized our starting receivers are both named Smith now lol
  5. Ian Rapoport is reporting that Jacoby actually turned down more money to stay a Raven...and they said hometown discounts were dead
  6. It's cool, sorry if it seemed I was directing my post totally at you...I've seen several people imply that essentially we're not going to be throwing the ball at all under Kubiak. Yeah, I don't think we're going to be Denver all of the sudden, but even though Kubes relies on a strong running game to set up the pass, I think we'll be throwing the ball a lot, just more effenciently, and not all of those low percentage bombs.
  7. Matt Schaub (of all people) has led the NFL in passing under Kubiak's offense. I'm not sure where this "Kubiak doesn't throw the ball" idea came about.
  8. I know this is off-topic, but I'd say they Broncos are looking more like they're trying to buy a super bowl now. They're going to implode soon under those contracts, especially since Manning only has a few years left. Unfortunately, I see the Pats being in better shape. Their system is very QB friendly, so even Brady is gone, they should be relatively ok (I don't see them getting in cap hell or turning into a cellar-dweller).
  9. no no...Happy wife, Happy life!
  10. There is always some completely unecessary drama this time of year; Monroe probably could have signed the exact same deal days ago without causing all this stress lol.
  11. Pretty much how I see it too.
  12. For now at least..until players from other teams start getting in trouble....and at least there haven't been any felony arrests. Once the media latches on to the next shiny thing, no one will remember Jah Reid pr Deonte Thompson.
  13. Sign him to the same deal we offered last year, low risk - high reward. If the guy has gotten his act together, and put put his talent to use on the field, McClain and Brown would give us a good, young ILB foundation for years to come. Couldn't hurt to bring him in for a look-see through training camp.
  14. I also remember reading that there are complications to being on a team from a no-tax state since (for instance) when the Dolphins visit the Ravens, the players are actually working/earning their money in MD, not FL.
  15. 45 Grave - Partytime I probably hadn't heard that song in 20 years until it popped up on iTunes Radio.
  16. A players signing bonus is spread evenly over the length of the contract. So, if that player is cut before the end of the contract, while the team wouldn't have to pay the yearly salary, the remainder of the bonus becomes due. As a very simplistic example, a $10m signing bonus on a 5 year contract would count $2m against the cap each year of the contract in addition to base salary. So if that player was cut after the 2nd year of the contract ($4m of the bonus already "paid for"), the remaining $6m of the bonus would be counted against the next year's cap. That's just a basic example to give the gist of what happens.
  17. I'd love to see something like 6 yrs/$52m
  18. I don't think we're going to find a trading partner willing to pay his salary for (as you say) someone who's not what he used to be and is constantly injured.FWIW I think he's looking to play out his contract and retire, so an extension is not what he's focused on right now. We'll probably have to wait until next year to see how this pans out.
  19. Nor did I say you said Pitta was a WR (you originally mentioned a receiver tandem, but I was throwing Pitta into the mix); however, I still feel that the comments tend to contradict each other, regardless of what post to which each was a response.
  20. I know Pitta is a TE, not WR, but these points pretty much contradict each other.
  21. I'm not a big Twitterer (Twit? whatever its called), so this is interesting to hear.
  22. That's a nice narrative, but so far only Harmans and Montgomery have left/been let go, and Harmans was a Billick hire. Not to mention that Harbaugh has control over the coaching staff. I wouldn't read too much into this, it only makes sense that if you're trying to implement a new offensive scheme, you'd want to bring in guys who have been running it for years - the guys we've brought in from the Texans will make the offensive transition much smoother because they already know the system and what Kubiak expects.
  23. Honestly, it will be pretty weird seing motion when the Ravens have the ball...aside from the false start illegal kind we seem to be pretty good at.
  24. I'm with you. While Kubiak is definitely a good hire and an upgrade at OC, he'll most likely be gone after this year and we'll have to start over. I actually prefer Kyle's play calling, and it was more likely that he stayed with us for more than just one year. Of course, I'm assuming that Kubiak will get a HC gig next year, but it does seem pretty likely if he can turn this ship around, given his resume.
  25. It's a shame that it looks like Kyle Shanahan isn't joint the staff, he would have been a natural to slide into the OC job next year when Kubiak goes back to a HC position. While I like the hire, I'm afraid we'll be going through this again next year, and without having the option of bringing Shanahan in.
