I agree. I like Wright and he may just need a change of scenery.
14 minutes ago, PurpleCity5 said:I think some of you guys are forgetting just how awful Jernigan and Guy looked towards the end of the season. Timmy Jernigan did not record a single sack in the final 7 games of the season. None. He went three straight games during the final four games of the season where he did not record a stat and the final game of the year, he recorded a single tackle, that was was all. In the case of Lawrence Guy, he over - pursued way too often in the run game, began to get mauled, and didn't rip blocks consistently and allowed for a lot of outside runs in his direction.
I mean even Suggs didn't even look like himself out there. Don't get me wrong, I know that he still means a lot to this team but during that last four stretch he even in the run game he was having trouble as well.
IMO, had Jernigan consistently kept up his play, it would be him that's cashing in big time. The conclusion a lot of people are reaching is that keeping him might not be in the cards but if he continues to show that he cannot play at a high level for a whole season, then I don't think its going to cost a whole lot to keep him.
Jernigan has always had issues staying consistent. He's the kind of guy you don't want to let get into a rhythm and the sad thing is it doesn't seem too hard to not let him get into a rhythm. He's shown he can be a disruptive force, but he has also shown a penchant for bad decisions. I think it's a good move to keep Williams, honestly, even if I love both of these two DL. I'm not sure we'll be able to keep Jernigan next year, but at the same time I don't know if that's a terrible thing. He has been a great player but as I said and as others like yourself have said, he is just inconsistent and flames out quite a bit. Maybe Pierce can show enough where he takes over at DE or DT, or even Brent Urban. I think Williams is our best DL out of all our DL, including Jernigan. He is the most consistently good player on that team.
1 minute ago, BmoreBird22 said:I was initially rough on bringing Williams back because he faded down the stretch, but you have to consider also that the entire front seven faded with him. Coincidence? No, it's really not.
I also want to see the Ravens put him in more situations to be a one gap player that can knife gaps. I think Williams has some underrated quickness and if he shed 10-15 pounds, he might be able to slice in there and generate some pressure from the interior.
Yep. I absolutely agree with this. What he really needs is about 50 lbs of quick-twitch muscle, too.
We lost Zach Orr to an injury retirement and he was our leading tackler. There's a reason Ray Lewis wanted a big body up front to keep him clean in Haloti Ngata. CJ Mosley will benefit from this move, and it is true that Williams must also step up as well. Moving Correa inside means you absolutely have to keep that guy clean because he cannot disengage off of blocks, and having a massive body in Williams and a back-up in Pierce means you can rotate and keep them fresh. I see this as a move that impacts various levels of the defense.

I don't get his excuse. Sounds like a lie because I'm pretty sure you need to test hot twice to get suspended four games.
2 minutes ago, ravensnick said:I second this. High character guy that's still developing and getting better everyday>the possibly better guy with character issue and a couple down years
Pryor? High character? I mean he's talented but he has some questions on his character.
I think the execution is the poor part in all this. You should've waited to make this move until after the draft to close the forum on a high note. I will tell you I never use the social media avenues besides this one because I don't want my views attached to me personally and I like the anonymity provided here. Granted you could've justifiably given less, I think more advanced notice would've been wiser and prove to be a far better execution for your fan base of which the team supposedly values.
While I may follow the Ravens on Twitter and Facebook but my participation there is nonexistent and it won't change at all because of this decision. While I understand the need to divert resources to more utilized avenues, I think isolating a portion of your fan base that prefer message boards fails to recognize the needs of a niche of your audience. I may have my own views I won't share right now on this issue, but I think that you're making a mistake in this decision since the money wasn't a deciding factor here, according to your statement. If that's the case, I don't see how retaining this forum negatively impacts your ability to properly give the more lucrative and in-demand social media avenues the attention they require.

Here's the issue with your thinking: we just lost LB Zach Orr and while I don't think he was the best guy ever back there he made tackles. You don't want your LB not having a force to eat up blockers and with Correa moving inside that's even more vital.

If we planned on bringing Dumervil back I don't know if he would've posted his little farewell. It could happen but I think it's more likely that's the end of Dumervil in our uniform

Oh yeah! Thanks and thank God we did that was a real shocker for me. You can't blame me if I forgot about him lol.
I suppose we can hope someone signs Levine.
1 hour ago, JoeyFlex5 said:Not all of them but we've lost more FAs through bigger numbers than we've gained
Like who?
FA LOST:
Kyle Juszczyk
Rick Wagner
FA GAINED:
Tony Jefferson
Danny Woodhead
That is an equal number from what I see. Granted we have Guy, Williams, Aiken left who could offset the additions but we brought back Mallett so there's no offset there.

Ban @rmw10 from these forums. Oh, wait..
1 minute ago, Inqui said:I guess that means Zeitler's out of the question, but no complaints about Jefferson. Him and Weddle will be one hell of a pairing. If a top CB falls to us in the draft that'll be quite the secondary indeed.
One of the best pieces of news I heard all day. I love this move. I suppose this also means the end of Webb. We can't pay all these safeties top dollar and the sad thing is, I believe, Jefferson was an UDFA in that horrible 2013 draft. Wow, what a change of events. Now we spent big money into the safety position two years in a row with a long-term and short-term option. This should go a long way and now all we need is a CB, which there are a lot of nice options available in the Draft.

Seriously. FANS HAVE NO POWER. OTHERWISE THE SITE WOULD NOT BE GOING UNDER.
I can't believe Flacco even took over this thread. Sad times.
Just now, arnie_uk said:RSR. Actually think it's better for draft season. This board for game threads and in season chat
I'll probably come there. I already have an account I set up years ago.
It's all Joe Flacco's fault. Fire John, Ozzie, Eric and sell the team to a new owner that will keep it going!
Phillip Dorsett is on the trade block if you missed out on a WR.

I agree that it's pretty reasonable for Pryor but I imagine we wanted to pay closer to 6 and WAS offered more.
