My goodness if we sign Smith....
WR 1 Torrey Smith
WR 2 Steve Smith
TE Dennis Pitta
Slot Marlon Brown
Plus Rice and Pierce in the backfield... in Kubiak's system? Talk about fixing our offensive woes from last year.
And maybe a Eric Ebron or a Jace Amaro in the draft to work in tandem with Pitta? Could be pretty dangerous.
I think what you're missing is that we're only looking for a safe stop gap type option. not a long term number 2. We;re hoping to build the long term core for the draft. so don't want to spend a lot of money on a player we're hoping to replace.
Yeah. One thing that Steve Smith will bring is a reliable target for at least a couple of years without breaking the bank on another receiver. With Torrey's contract extension coming up, I'm pretty sure they have they in the back of their mind.
Still would like to see what's up with Tate, Edelman, or Nicks, though.
Would be a nice stop gap but I'd much rather go after Nicks, Edelman, or Golden Tate.
They've been cutting players since the season ended. Smith, Vilma, Harper, and Greer saved them almost 20 million in 2014, and Moore and Sproles almost another 6 million.
They were projected to be over the cap a ton before those moves I believe (around $15 million over the cap I think). Those moves were made to get under the cap and so they could pony up a contract for J. Graham, which is why this move is surprising.
If the Saints could fit Byrd under their cap when they were said to have one of the worst cap situations in the league, I feel a lot better about our chances of getting a guy like Mack.
Edelman is a product of their system and we don't run what they run. That'd be a bad signing.
Agreed. Would much rather go after Golden Tate.
I would be excited to get Mack and would be more excited to have the best Center in the league over Monroe. Now obviously that leaves LT open but maybe Ozzie has a draft plan and we find our new LT for the next 10 years or so.
Would not mind at all. KO (assuming he comes back healthy), Mack, and Yanda?
Dat interior tho.
You gotta risk it to get the biscuit.
Lol
I think it's a ploy as well but Mack would be an excellent fallback option. It'd ensure that we'd never have to see Gino for awhile. Yikes.
Byrd seems unrealistic, still.
Probably. I like to dream though so let me. =/
Unless Ozzie gets a safety in FA, we might get stuck with Clinton-Dix. Nothing like a Bama Bust, eh?
I lol'd. Would be extremely Disappointed if we took him.
I still wonder if Ozzie is going to inquire about Byrd. We got beat for big plays quite a bit last year. Would be awesome if Elam can do more of what he did in college while having Byrd in the center field.
Sounds like Monroe is going to settle because no team is going to offer outside of what we're offering him. He's a great LT but he's not worth 10 million a year. I'm glad it's looking like we'll end up keeping him.
If he goes, he goes. Whatever money Ozzie doesn't spend on Monroe, he'll spend it on going after other free agents. We could still go after Collins or Veldheer and either would be cheaper than going after Monroe or Albert and we could still make a play for other free agents. Could potentially make a play for Byrd if Ozzie sees FS as that big of a priority.
I originally thought that we probably should have tagged Monroe and that he might be worth a contract where he makes $10 million annually but the more I thought about it, I just don't see how he is worth that. Monroe is a VERY good LT but he's not elite like Peters or Thomas. Those guys are worth that money. The Ravens have the right price when it comes to Monroe if that's the ballpark they're looking to pay him for.The only thing that sucks about this is the fact that we gave up those two picks to get him and are potentially about to lose him.
That Raw was good but had so much untapped potential. All it needed was for Punk to come out at the end and watch the crowd go mad. If I was Vince, I would have been on my KNEES begging Punk to come back for this Raw, save D. Bryan from a beating at the hands of Batista and Triple H, and insert him in the title picture for a Triple Threat Match because as of now, the crowd has no one to cheer for in the Batista and Orton match. The WM card is all you need to see to show that the WWE doesn't give a damn about its fans.
Batista vs Orton: They're really going to pit two heels against each other? In a way, I think the stipulation will be that if D. Bryan beats HHH, then he will get injected into the match because I just don't see how Vince is really going to let it be a heel vs heel match. This match was a product of a Punk/Bryan fiasco from the Rumble and they deserve it when the crowd boos the hell out of both of them. Not to mention how gassed Batista has looked every time he steps into the ring for five minutes. We have to deal with this for the next two years instead of more Punk? Awful.
Cena vs Bray: I would love to see Bray go over but I can't help but feel it's going to be another case of Cena burying another up and coming star.
Undertaker vs Lesnar: Honestly the only match worth watching at Mania. Heyman will produce gold like always to make this match even better and they will likely put on a great match.
HHH vs Bryan: How do I put this..

Burial Time. R.I.P. Daniel Bryan.
Cancelled my WWE Network subscription yesterday. The only way I would have kept it was if they could deliver a compelling card for Mania. They didn't deliver. Oh well.
Maybe Oz has a master plan that involves Monroe, Smith, and Jairus Byrd all joining the Ravens.

Deal incoming. Bank on it.
And Mack isn't going to happen...
Browns are placing the transition tag on center Alex Mack, which will give Cleveland chance to match any offer sheet he would sign.
FIgured that. And the Browns have a huge amount of cap space and would be able to match any offer some team would give him.
I still stand by my opinion that the only way he doesn't get tagged is if Ozzie feels like he can get a deal done before March 11th.
No way do you give up a top ten LT after trading a 4th and a 5th rounder for him.
If they don't tag him, I'm sure it's out of confidence that they can get something done before FA hits. Hell, they might be further along than we think on contract talks. You never know.
I just seriously doubt Ozzie is going to give up a 4th and a fifth rounder for a 1 year rental. Hard to find a top tackle and only at 26 years old.
I think I'd rather not tag Monroe. Haven't we had just about enough of the malcontented LT?
Without Monroe, we'd have holes at LT, C, RT, and would have LG in question depending on how KO returns from his injury. Not to mention Ozzie already gave up a 4th and a 5th rounder to get Monroe here. If they can't get a deal done by the deadline, I believe they need to tag him. Can't let one of the top LTs especially with him only being 26 years old.
I think we're looking at $9 million for Monroe. He's not as good as Jason Peters and didn't have nearly as good of a season, but he is still one of the better tackles in the NFL. I honestly hope this Jason Peters deal pushes along the Monroe deal
Monroe is one of the best on top of being only 26 years old. He's well worth 9-10 million a year. The Ravens cannot afford to lose him especially with there probably being changes at at least two other positions on the offensive line. I hope this deal does push Monroe's deal to get done.
Been messing around with the free trial. Everything is buffering like hell today. It'll probably get better after optimizations and after they get past the initial load but the quality of the stuff back then is pretty good. They don't have much as a selection as far as things in the 90s or for any of the Raw and Smackdowns, but they have a great selection of PPVs going back to the 2000.
I've heard they've blurred out things that would be deemed "inappropriate" such as the "puppies" but I haven't seen it yet. If it's true, what a turn off considering we're paying for this. Only reason this is worth buying right now is for the PPVs included in the future and the classic PPVs of the last decade for me personally.
Man the crowds back then were just amazing compared to how they are now.
If true, this is awesome and we still could cut people to add to that.
I agree that McClain is making too much, but has there been any word that he's at all likely to be cut?
It's been speculated and the writing is borderline on the wall. They are expected to try and retain Daryl Smith. If they do, they'll expect Arthur Brown to man up the other ILB spot pushing McClain out the door. McClain's money could be put towards getting something done with Daryl Smith who was far more effective than McClain.
Even if they don't work out a deal with Ngata which they probably will, they still have the options of cutting McClain (which I think it's going to happen to make room for Daryl Smith) and/or Leach. We'll have a good amount of cap space.
Edit: Oh and Koch.

Ebron would. Amaro could be had in the second, I believe.
