Would really like this haul....
My only complaint would be Pocic. If we're taking an OL with our 1st 4 picks, which i hope we do, Pocic would be toward the absolute bottom of the list for guys id want. If we're looking for guys that can move the big guys across from them, Pocic isnt it. Hes more of a athlete/technician that will do well in a stretch zone based run game. But i see him struggling with skinny zone, gap and/or power based plays.
If the FO likes him, then i wont disagree bc i do think he will turn out to be a good player.... just not a fit for what the coaching staff has said they want from the OL. He's a big dude, but i envision big, low center of gravity, grounded big men... not really tall and thin.
And as much as i love all 3 of the prospects.... taking Davis, then Lawson and Sidney Jones -- thats 2 currently injured and coming off surgeries, and another who missed 1 1/2 years out of the last 3 to injuries. I cant say other than Lawson that either of the other 2 are "injury prone" but my gosh with our recent history of injuries; using all 3 of our 1st picks on guys that have "injury" attached to them scares me.
Grabbing a plus player who's fallen some bc of a current injury or injury concerns is great.... but basing your entire early draft on it is a risky proposition. If Davis was healthy and ran a 4.4-4.5 40 i dont think he'd make it to us. If Lawson had been healthier hes easily a 1st round talent, and prob right in with Barnett/Reddick/Takk/Taco/Harris in some order... maybe a Top 10-15 guy. And likewise with Sidney Jones. Prob Top 10-20 talent if healthy.
There's a reason that its feasible that you could walk away with all 3.
15 hours ago, Ravens4Real said:Everyone comments on Mike Williams size but he is only 6'1. Is that truly elite size in the NFL? I would say not at all.
People will comment on boxing out guys and being able to go up for the contested catch. I like that trait so don't have any true negatives.
Outside of his very good postseason against Ohio State and Alabama, did he really have an outstanding game? He plays in the ACC. They aren't a very elite conference, football wise. He played well against a Pitt and Syracuse team that are horrible on the secondary. He also did well against SC but I have no clue if they have anyone of note skill wise. I just don't really trust any WR in a hurry up, fast pace offense (I say this not knowing what Davis' offense was like in college) Stats are blown out of proportion on offenses like this because defenses play off and loose. The game is going to be vastly different for him in the NFL compared to college.
Now to my honest opinion, if we are taking a WR first round, I want it to be Davis or no one. I don't see Williams having a good/great NFL career. Big bodied CB's will be able to control his boxing out technique because he is not tall to begin with. They will also be much faster than him. So separation should be a problem. Jimmy Smith in particular would man handle a guy like Williams.
First off, Mike Williams is 6'3"+ almost 6'4" so dont know where youre getting 6'1" from.
Second.... yea its a transition for an offense like that to the NFL in terms of learning a playbook; but its usually knowing/perfecting the full route tree for receivers thats the issue. Mike Williams can be given a dumbed down, simplified version of routes and just go win.
Mike Evans, Sammy Watkins, DeAndre Hopkins (both Clemson guys), Tyler Lockett, Brandin Cooks (almost purely screens and vertical routes), Keenan Allen, Dez Bryant, Alshon Jeffery, AJ Green, Calvin Johnson, Demeryius Thomas, Michael Crabtree, etc...
All guys taken pretty early in drafts that were either size/speed box out/jump ball type guys, played in very simple offenses for WR's that didnt require complex route running or trees, or some combination of the two that have been very very good to dominant in the NFL.
Two of the most recent hailing from that same Clemson offense. Watkins was certainly faster but smaller, lesser catch radius, and didnt work the middle of the field... and Hopkins while a better route runner for sure was also much smaller and slower.
Not saying this guarantees him success... but plenty of guys with the same skill sets have become great receivers recently, and others with some of the same skills/traits and from similar or the same exact spread/gimmicky offenses have transitioned fine to the NFL as well. In fact, almost half or more of the best WR's to come out recently fall into this category. List of the 10 best WR's in the NFL and i bet more than 5 have similar traits, similar concerns heading into the draft, and/or came from similar offenses in college.
Definitely not a reason to write him off when you see how he was able to raise his game against the best competition.
Mike Williams... Corey Davis; Corey Davis... Mike Williams. Doesn't matter. Either of these guys would be a 1 one receiver. Take the one that was not drafted yet with our pick.
It kinda does matter. Corey Davis is a SUBSTANTIALLY better WR. Williams isn't gonna be successful. The dudes a DGB slower clone minus the off the field issues. Can't run routes.
Yea... Mike Evans has really struggled in the NFL too.
Dez and Julio really struggled coming into the NFL as well, not being good route runners....

2 hours ago, January J said:Im a fan. Upvote from me. Tim Williams in the 2nd is a stretch but certainly possible and would love it.
It definitely could be a stretch... but i wont be surprised if teams take a pass on him. Doubtful, but i wouldnt be completely shocked if someone took Ryan Anderson before Williams.
I could see any or all of Myles Garret, Solomon Thomas, Derek Barnett, Haason Reddick, Takk McKinley, Taco Charlton, Charles Harris, TJ Watt, Carl Lawson, Jordan Willis, Derek Rivers, Demarcus Walker, and Tyus Bowser going before him.
10 of them arent even really much of a stretch, and the last 3 have been evaluated all over the place. With the combo of the drug/gun arrest, failed tests, limited role, slightly undersized in that he's prob only a fit for 3-4 teams that need an edge rusher.... I dont think its all that crazy.
Could he go before? Sure. I wouldnt blink at him going in the 1st round.... i wouldnt mind us taking him at 16.
Especially within the context of my mock, i think he's there at 15 in the 2nd. I have 7 guys going in the 1st, and of the teams that pick before us in the 2nd there arent many that need a pass rusher that didnt get 1 in the 1st. I could see maybe 3-4 that could but there are also really good prospects at other positions still on the board.
It's not completely crazy that a team goes with Lawson, Harris and/or Willis over Tim Williams.
9 hours ago, PurpleHorseman said:If Chad Kelly is available after round4 the potential at the most impactful position is to great to overlook. Raw arm talent is as good as it gets. He looks over everything and see the action very fast. And makes very tough throws look routine and easy. Throws that over 3/4 of NFL QBs would never attempt. He can flick his wrist and throw a 30 yard bullet and thread a needle. He needs some reining in. But the arm talent and instincts are there. He took a pounding and dropped 50 points on Alabama's loaded defense twice. He took some violent hits from Foster and Anderson that would rattle almost any NFL QB. If you are looking for a late round flier there is none better!!
For all his criticism and fights. This dudes teammates look up to him and want to go to war with him. You can't find a single teammate or former teammate that has one thing negative to say. Treadwell who has caught from several NFL round1 QBs lights up with excitement and enthusiasm when asked in an interview what it is like catching from him. I watched the top 5 QBs in this class to be sure I'm not overrating him and overstating my opinion. And it isn't even close!! Trubisky, Watson, Keizer and so called gunslinger Mahomes would not even attempt some of the throws Chad makes look easy with pinpoint bullets at the flick of his wrist.
Like I said he has to be reined in a little but the arm talent, football intelligence and instincts are there in boatloads. His so called bad throws are mostly tough throws nobody else attempts. Look at his yards per completion compared to any QB in this class. But some of those tough throw attempts will need to be tamed. NFL coaches will not like him threading needles on 30 yard outs when there is a sure 10 yard throw the defense is giving away gift wrapped
He should be available in the 6th and possibly UDFA. No reason to spend a 4th on him.
And yea, hes got some raw talent. But it seems pretty obvious to me the guy just doesnt take anything too seriously. Another Manziel type story.... prob not the same issues, but im pretty confident if you give this kid some of his own money, and freedom away from his family -- hes going to self destruct.
Dont be surprised if hes out of football in a year or 2.
I think youre overstating his talent... but even if you werent, talent alone doesnt get it done.

I won't predict how good he could/would be... but I will say if Cleveland loves any of the QBs and think he can be their franchise guy -- they'd only be stupid to risk assuming he'll survive to pick 12.
And I do agree, if he panned out and Fournette is who I think he is... behind that OL their offense is pretty tough to stop day 1.
They use their glut of day 2 picks and next years draft to get that defense right... they could have that thing turned around pretty quick.
17 minutes ago, RavensDieHard21 said:It's so funny that most mocks have a very early consensus on where certain players are going, but watch that all go up in flames on draft day lmao
Garrett to Cleveland
Lattimore to Tennessee
Hooker to LA
Fournette to Jax
Barnett to NO
Foster to Cincinnati
They're that way bc well.... some of them just make too much sense.
But i tried to change the 1 that sets the rest of them in motion to see how much it would effect the rest of the round.
Youre right though, between the outside opinions being way off... and the likelihood of at least one team trading into/out of that top 5-10 the order of players and matching up with fits is bound to look completely different on draft night.
8 minutes ago, PurpleHorseman said:Somebody could take Morgan at end of round1 and he would justify the pick. One of my best friends went to his school and showed me some clips of practices. If he went to USC Oregon Penn state he would be a borderline round1 talent. Ravens should draft him round4 and consider him in round3. He and Lewis could make a nice tandem for a long time after Yanda retires. Throw in Lamp at center and that is a bulldozing interior trio. Harbaugh reported that Lewis is really growing into his frame and is far stronger. If ravens picked up Morgan and Lamp we would only need to find a RT for a stud o-line for years. I'm all for offensive line being No.1 priority.
I went to Bloomsburg which is Kutztowns rival... and was at Bloom with Jahri Evans.
Jah was a sensation at the time, hands down the most dominant player the conference had seen in decades. We obviously know how he turned out.
Everyone I know that follows the team closely has said that Morgan is even more dominant than Jah was, and a better athlete overall.
Ive seen him play live twice and I tend to agree with them.
But i cant go as far as to say I'd take him in the 2nd. 3rd I prob wouldn't either. Ultimately I think he'll play at a level that in hindsight will have justified a late 1st/2nd round pick, but the question marks are just too great. The jump from D2 to NFL is real and so is the switch from the left to right or tackle to guard.
4th/5th round though? Count me in and I think we've found a very good starter.

27 minutes ago, rossihunter2 said:don't worry about it - no negs from me - i completely get what your'e doing with this mock and it's pretty interesting but i'll give some fuller feedback than i did earlier anyway:
mike williams is a great pick and i'd have zero qualms with it on draft day
tim williams is also a great pick but i find it hard to believe he'll make it to our 2nd pick - if no one gambles in the first round like the steelers, lions, falcons, chiefs or saints - then i really dont think he'll get past the rams in the 2nd round because he fits perfectly into wade phillips defense which they are just beginning to run in LA - so as much as i love the pick i find it hard to come up with scenarios where he's available unless there is some serious issue with character that only the ravens are aware is not a big deal (which i guess is possible given ozzie's bama ties but still seems unlikely)
kpassagnon again is a brilliant value pick and would add a good amount of competition to the 5tech spot - he's developmental which is why the 2nd is too rich for me but I also think, much like with williams before, that other teams towards the end of the 2nd (if he even makes it there) will have a hard time passing up on a guy with such raw ability and potential - but if he makes it he's a no-brainer
ahkello witherspoon might be the darling of a few guys on this board, me included - he could develop into one of the top cover corners out of this draft and if you take away the pressure of not needing to start day 1 then he could maybe have time to develop his tackling technique because he'll have to in order to get activated on gameday by playing special teams - really that's one of his biggest downsides but if in round 3 you can nab a guy with the potential to be elite and sticky in man and zone coverage with the long arms he has then its a steal every day of the week - yet i think this is likely a possible scenario
i said earlier up that i'd prefer jermaine eluemunor to jordan morgan but having thought about it more im not sure i would - i take it back jordan morgan is a good pickup here
however, after all that positivity I have to say that harvey langi feels like a reach for need in the 5th - he's a longterm developmental prospect who lacks the fundamentals or nouse of the position - for me he's a 6th rounder at best but is likely a udfa pick up by some team that likes his athletic ability and is willing to forget about his being played on the edge this season - if he gets drafted it will likely be as a developmental guy with the potential to step in immediately on special teams - which i guess would give some credence to the idea that we might be interested later on - but in the 5th round, in a draft this deep, i'd have to consider that a reach and much better prospects will likely be available
trestan decoud ill give you a pass because you were the one who alerted me to him in the first place - i like him but given that he's likely an undrafted guy i have to think there's better value available - that being said if he actually is someone we draft in the 6th round i cant say id be disappointed - i could maybe even see him converting to safety as well but again he'd be a special teamer early on
but this was a really good mock - and interesting (if slightly far-fetched) - if this was how it all panned out i'd be pretty excited
I actually think Tim Williams is in for a draft day slide.
Between the off field, failed drug tests, being somewhat under sized, limited role and lack of experience... coupled with talent/depth at the position -- I just see him falling back.
Could easily see 10-12 pass rushers or more go ahead of him... which I think puts him squarely in range for us in the 2nd round. It's really not that tough to argue 10 that could go ahead and if so you'd need a pass rusher to go every 4 picks or more for him not to be there.
I also think there will be mixed opinions on Tanoh... some loving him and some having him really low. If he were more explosive/quick I could see a 4-3 team taking a stab in the 2nd.... but I think his best fit is as a 3-4 5T. The upside is huge and I expect the boom, but it's a pick that will require a development plan and patience. I think most teams will want/need more immediate dividends from a 2nd round pick with the depth and talent in this draft.
And I fully admit that Langi and Decoud are potentially reaches. Agree totally there. With the 5th-7th and UDFA such a crap shoot... I'm not going to even pretend to have a board that goes that deep or have the expertise to truly deem the value of players in that range.
So i chose to mock 2 guys that I like and think have a good chance to become Ravens through either late picks or UDFA.
Appreciate it guys... wasn't pointing out the negs bc I had an issue with them, was just confused bc it was -4 without a single overtly negative comment.
Was just asking for the voices behind the negs bc the conversation is what it's all about.
2 hours ago, Davesta said:What round is James conner projected? He would be a great power back for us. Don't see much talk on him here
Idk. I have trouble projecting where the RBs could go in this draft.
Could see anywhere from 1-4 go in the 1st... and depending on that anywhere from like 3-7 in the 2nd rd.
My best guess is he could be taken anywhere from the mid 3rd to the 6th round.
So to those negging my Mock -- is it bc I did something different than take Garret 1st overall, or bc you don't like the picks I project to the Ravens??
If you don't like the picks... why? Dialogue.... feedback.... that's why we post.
And if its just bc "well that won't happen -- Myles Garret is def going #1 idiot!!!".... cool I'll take my negs all day bc who wants to read the same exact Mock. .
I'd rather play with some scenarios that haven't been covered a million times.
Plus... the regurgitated "realistic" mocks hardly ever end up realistic anyways.
Idc about negs... but I did post this for conversation so at least provide the negative feedback along with it, unless you have no opinion and just neg to neg. Thats cool too.
My two biggest pet prospects are Jordan Morgan, G/T and Ahkello Witherspoon, CB.
I think Witherspoon will wind up being one of the top 3 CB's in a draft that will wind up with 7-8 really good ones. Will be one of the best 2nd CBs in the league and with our trio we'd have the best secondary in the league next year.
Plus it'd be really cool to have both our CBs be from the University of Colorado. Get Awuzie too for the heck of it.
And Morgan if around in the 4th/5th is a steal. He will be an absolute mauler of an OG and become a 10+ year starter with multiple Pro Bowls.
Dorian Johnson is another OG that I think is a lot better than some think. He's my 3rd OG behind Lamp and Feeney.... not counting Cam or Dawkins who I think both can be great OGs but someone will try to make RTs.
1 hour ago, ravensnation5220 said:I like this draft. Im not a big Kpassagnon fan as others are though.
Im also kimd of reluctant to pick a reciever in the first. Id much rather a pass rusher or offensive lineman. Im a firm believer in winning the trenches. I think recievers are just unnecessary luxuries and could be had later.
Mike Williams is great and all but theres no versatility to the pick. If we go Cam robinson he could play RT or G and if stanley gets hurt you kick him out there. That seems more valuable especially when you could get zay jones, juju, or stewart later on while there really isnt another cam robinson type player in this draft.
I love Tanohs upside. I'd be hesitant in the 2nd, but come the 3rd round id love him. He's raw but he's quite a specimen. With our ability to coach up DL I think he could become a dominant pass rushing 5T in our scheme.
And i too prefer pass rusher in the 1st but with both Barnett and Reddick off the board I didn't have anyone close to BPA there... and while I see OL as a bigger need than WR, I had to take my best available player.
Wouldve liked to grab one before the 4th but I don't like the depth at pass rusher after the 2nd round, and don't expect any plug and play guys to be there in the 3rd - so I couldn't pass up nabbing 2 guys that I see as having 1st round talent at positions of need.
Ended up with Morgan though who I think could be one of the steals of this draft. I think he could step in Day 1 at LG and bring some size/nastiness.
With him there and Lewis at RT, bring in Mangold and I like that OL a lot.
Rds 5-6 is a crap shoot in terms of who will actually be there so I went with 2 guys that could go anywhere from round 5-UDFA.
Langi I know the Ravens like a lot, and so do I. Not a whole lot of film but has everything other than savvy/experience you want in a LB.... and Decoud is my pet pick to become a late round gem.
2 minutes ago, ravensnation5220 said:why not elflien in the second?
I think the FO plans on bringing Mangold in and will then target G/T over C/G.
Plus ive always viewed Elflein as more of a late 2nd early 3rd pick. I value Feeney, Dawkins and even Dorian Johnson over him and expect all 3 to go somewhere in that early-to-mid-2nd range.

i do like this draft outcome for them but it would be suicide by media to not take garrett for a qb in an underwhelming class - a qb and fournette could turn around their offense of course
i also dont see fournette making it to them at 12 but heyho
this is a really interesting mock though
I was going for different/interesting without sacrificing some level of realism.

btw, i found this kind of interesting....
This draft will mark 32 years (16 + 16) since Jerry Rice was selected 16th overall.
Hmmm....
Could there be a small school standout WR available at 16 noted for his route running, big play ability, and just being an all around playmaker?
Ive preferred Williams over Davis; but superstition might be swaying me.

15 minutes ago, rossihunter2 said:one of Adams, Hooker or Barnett - probably Hooker I think - although Adams is maybe the better player right now
The reason i ask is that im torn.
I'm pulling for Barnett, but after sitting down and really thinking about it -- i couldnt decide if its because i think hes the best prospect that has a possibility of being there, or would i truly take him over mostly anyone else.
Then tried thinking about who id take over him, i.e. if i was sitting at #2... and just couldnt decide.
So im curious to get everyones thoughts... in the event that surprising 1-2 of these guys we think have no shot of being there ends up being. Like Barnett and Hooker are there, or Adams and Barnett... Lattimore, etc...
Is there a consensus #2 round these parts?
Question.... except for Myles Garret, who is your favorite prospect, or if you had a choice of any one player who would it be out of guys like:
Adams
Hooker
Barnett
M Williams
C Davis
Allen
Thomas
Lattimore
Fournette
Foster
Howard
Curious... like if we had pick #2.

I like him. Really tough runner after the catch. I dont see him becoming a star or anything like that... but i can see him having a longer career as a solid #2 option.
Am I the only one that thinks he runs really weird? Cant put my finger on what it is, but it just looks awkward to me.

If you switched the 2nd and 3rd picks, i think there is a possibility you could walk away with the same players... but as currently constructed i cant see Tim Williams falling to the 3rd.
Theres a realistic scenario or two that he falls to the 2nd... i even mocked him there myself; and similarly a scenario or two that Sid Jones makes it to the 3rd.
Im going to go ahead and assume that by Gabrial Peppers you mean Jabrill Peppers... in which case, no way hes there in the 3rd.
We'd be walking away with 4 guys that are probably top 20ish talents. But it aint happenin. Peppers doesnt make it past the early 2nd. Tim Williams wont make it out of the mid 2nd. And Sid Jones is prob gone in the 2nd, but not impossible hes there.
Switch 2 and 3... but grab someone else with the second 3rd rd pick. It'd still be incredibly optimistic, but could happen.
