  1. 15 minutes and counting.... This is what I've been most excited for... 3 picks in the next 45ish overall. Here's where we separate the men from the boys. Have a feeling that after tonight (hopefully) those that weren't happy with the 1st pick see the overall draft picture and get on board. Hoping we've vetted Tim Williams thoroughly and are comfortable with him. Bc talent wise he's a steal at this point. After pass rush go OL in the 3rd if Elflein, Dawkins, Feeney or Johnson are available. Then double dip at pass rush or CB... or grab the best WR and then we roll through the last 3 picks with BPA regardless of position.
  2. I like Dorian Johnson much better for the same reason.
  3. Thats my hope too. We'll see.... A lot of people think he'll fall to the 3rd, and if we could go Alabama 1-2-3 with Cam Robinson and then Tim Williams.
  4. THeres a difference between saying a pick was MY bpa... and being able to believe he was the TEAMS bpa. What dont you get about that?
  5. It doesnt make you an idiot. It just doesnt make Ozzie an idiot like you say.... Thats why you get crap. You sarcastically make a comment like that, ie if i go with my opinion im an idiot --- but your the first one to call our FO idiots if they dont do what you think.
  6. i like him... but not til the 3rd. Hey and Trey Hendrickson are like my worst case, last ditch effort to get a good pass rusher in this draft. But i wouldnt take either until 3rd/4th probably.
  7. i hope not. but i see the talent, so if hes the pikc im on board. Just much rather go edge rusher... and if not that then OL.
  8. Another thing I want to say -- Much of our perception, whether we admit it or not, of players draft value and where they should be taken is effected by the media mocks. Early on almost everyone had us taking CB.... until we signed Jefferson and Carr and then they felt our secondary was set and we'd go elsewhere. Well thats projecting us to draft by need, which we dont strictly do. And when these guys do their mocks theyre trying to fit players to needs.... and most of them didnt have more than 2-3 CBs going round 1. But, if they had their sources right theyd have known most teams had Humphrey #2... and if they had that... most wouldve had Humphrey coming off the board to Buffalo, NO, Arizona, Philly or Indy. Almost every single one would have said Humphrey had no shot of being available.... and if we didnt sign Carr we wouldve still been frequently mocked CB's, and so Tre White, Kevin King, Adoree Jackson, and Quincy Wilson would have been frequent targets for us in mocks. In that reality (which is a more realistic reality where media people have good, reliable information about what theyre reporting on instead of baseless guessing) everyone realizes we got a player rated much higher than where he went. Im not defending the pick to claim i had Humphrey as my highest player there. But I will defend the value, in that without the QB and WR run, he wouldnt have been available to us. And the players i preferred, i admit that without good information on their health and red flags -- i am by no means a reliable source to say whether or not we shouldve picked them. OJ Howard is literally the ONE guy you can make a strong case for.... but even he is largely a projection of traits and athleticism. So when you read between lines, realize how much our perceptions are shaped by what we're fed, and accept that in all likelihood we're all crappy talent evaluators in a game thats already a crapshoot.... its not that hard to get on board with a decision that clearly makes sense, especially when the player clearly has upside and is a really good kid deserving of an opportunity.
  9. I just saw that. Considering he was WAY off on our 1st round pick.... i mean he clung to that Cam Robinson rumor like his life depended on it..... i feel pretty safe that we wont be taking Wormley in the 2nd. BUt he does have us taking Tim Williams in the 3rd -- which would be AWESOME -- bc that would allow us to take the best of the available OL or WRs in the 2nd like Lamp or Cam if somehow one falls, or Dawkins or Feeney.... and Juju, Godwin, Zay Jones, or Curtis Samuel id be happy w/ too depending on who else was on the board.
  10. Ive post that along with Albert Breer's article from yesterday morning "10 things I'm hearing leading up to the draft..." which cited multiple sources that Humphrey and Adoree Jackson were unanimously the 2nd and 3rd CBs and were going to be drafted much higher than most thought. Some just dont want to hear it and think that what the media mocks say is written and stone.... and that if the actual professionals -- you know the guys who make tons of money evaluating talent -- must be the ones who are wrong bc Bucky Brooks had Humphrey going late 1st.
  11. plus this threads been open for like 20 minutes. thats why not many have posted players, not bc theyre scared that you'll hold them to the standard of the media mocks. and this is probably going to get merged into the other day 2 thread, bc i started almost an identical one last night posting my top guys available and it got merged.
  12. Everyone on this board... dont care how much they watch tape and evaluate prospects on their own (myself included) base our rankings on the media guys... bc we want to be right so we try to align with the people we respect and think are connected and mimic what teams actually think. Maybe not exactly down to a tee, but we all put guys within a range that makes sense or fits in with the popular narrative. For example I absolutely love Ahkello Witherspoon... but why then do i mock him in the 3rd? Hes among my favorite CBs in this draft, prob top 5-7 and those guys are all projected to go by early 2nd. So why wouldnt he? Bc the group think says so... so instead i say hes a steal of a 3rd rounder. We all do this. Lamp was a guy everyone liked as a prospect... but it wasnt until the last month taht people thought he was consideration for 16, and crazy that some even hoped for it. There wasnt a single soul taht felt that way 2-3 months ago and certainly not in December. But he moved up in all the media mocks, so if you like him as a prospect, you convinced yourself -- hey, hed be a good pick at 16. If every mock had Humphrey going in the Top 10 like most NFL teams felt he would -- everyone, you included -- would be totally fine with the pick. Whether you want to admit it or not, or realize -- you pick the players you like and dont like.... but how you perceive their value and what are "good picks" and "bad picks' is heavily tied to what the media tells you. Because reality says that the mocks are almost always wrong and picks that seem crazy bad value end up being great and ones that are celebrated suck every.single.draft. So there is no real set in stone "good value" and "bad value". The ONLY measure is how these players turn out. Thats the only thing that will determine a good pick and a bad one. And considering no ones played a single down yet, we dont know what the good and bad picks are. So if youre saying its a horrible pick.... all youre really saying is "the media didnt predict, and i didnt expect this -- so its bad."
  13. who knows. That seems to be the media consensus -- that hes behind guys like Zay Jones, Juju, Godwin, Curtis Samuel and maybe even some like Carlos Henderson, Amara Darboh... just depends on who you trust. But judging by the fact that, as usual, theres a ton of prospects that nfl teams are viewing far differently than most in the media... i wouldnt be surprised to see him the next WR off the board or dropping to the 4th round.
  14. Cardinals? Browns? Bills? Pitt?
  15. remember when you said Jalen Ramsey and Landon Collins were busts before they played a down. i do
  16. its not saying that he was MY bpa. But clearly the Ravens had him as the highest available player. Obviously not all people are going to agree on how players match up or rank. But to think or make an argument that the Ravens purposely picked a player they had ranked way lower than others is absolutely ridiculous. And considering i know my own limitations and a few tapes on youtube is NOT enough resource to make accurate projections of prospects or evaluations; and that our FO is quite good at evaluating players and has access to far more resources.... im going to trust their judgement until proven otherwise. Its almost a guarantee that some players picked ahead of Humphrey are going to be far worse and that there will be players picked behind him that will be better. Its a guarantee that a bunch of players you really like will end up being terrible. And im sure some you like will pan out. Because its a lottery and far from a science. But if you like the player, which i do, and expected him to be gone before our pick - which i did - then why not be happy about it? Its clear they tried to trade up for Barnett or Reddick, who are the only two players that got close to our pick that i wouldve preferred... so im right on board with their line of thinking. Just bc you find the humphrey pick a reach or ridiculous doesnt make it so. Just shows you didnt have a clue how the actual teams are seeing and valuing these players.
  17. Want proof? From BmoreBird22's Mock in the Draft talk... this is from my comment on the 1st page "I like Humphrey but can't see us passing on Barnett or Allen especially to go with Humphrey. Wouldnt be surprised if we had Humphrey as the top CB on our board but I have a bunch that both Allen and Barnett are top 5-7 guys on our board. Only way we'd pass on Allen there is if we took him off the board completely for medical reasons. And to go a step further.... no way Wilson is the 2nd CB off the board. All I've heard is that he's fallen to the 2nd round and a lot of teams project him more to S. In this scenario Philly would almost definitely take Conley or Humphrey imo. But to each his own. I doubt Humphrey is there when we pick..." Barnett was gone, Im guessing we had Allen as undraftable at 16 bc of medical, and Conley had the rape accusations. I didnt alter anything. You can check yourself.
  18. ok... So you dont like Fournette. You think Humphrey's a huge reach --- but you also thought Ramsey was a bust. So... hopefully this is really good news for Humphrey. Lately your hate of defensive backs (Ramsey, Landon Collins) has meant they become studs. Basically seals it. Humphrey's a stud. I'd actually be more worried if you really liked him.
  19. Well the fact that draft day it was reported that teams have Humphrey 2 and Jackson 3 which was surprising to most.... and by gosh, Humphrey goes 5 picks after lattimore, and Adoree goes 2 after that --- seems pretty legit.
  20. Prisco is a moron. He also said Fournette wont be good, and that Garret is a bust already.
  21. I believe he was the best draftable player on the Ravens board. They have the best intel on Bama players, so if Allen and Foster were off their board - i trust their judgement over anyone else. 4 draft guys i respect among the most all reported Humphrey was top 10 on most boards, as the #1 or #2 CB almost unanimously. And i know @BmoreBird22 can certainly say it with a straight face. he has for weeks.
  22. his stock didnt plummet. Walter, Charlie and Ian Rappaport all report the contrary... and considering they actually talk to the teams, and you dont im going with them. Albert Breer also did a piece yesterday morning about 10 things hes hearing leading up to the draft... and one of them was -- Marlon Humphrey and Adoree Jackson are going to go ALOT higher than people think. They are the #2 and #2 CBs on everyones board. But hey, the whole league is wrong.
  23. Playing against the Sqeelers 2 x a year with Antonio Brown, Martavius Bryant and Ladarius Green... means we need cover guys The Bengals have AJ Green, John Ross, Tyler Boyd, Eifert, etc The Browns have Corey Coleman, Possible Josh Gordon Back, Gary Barnridge, Kenny Britt and the 1st round TE out of Miami they just drafted. We better be able to cover in our division and Ozzie and Company seems to recognize that adding Weddle and Tavon Young last season, Jefferson, Carr ad Humphrey this season. Remember that this draft is deep and we still have time to add to the OL, WR corps and pass rushers. Dont forget the Patriots, Broncos and Raiders all have multiple high end threats on the outside.
  24. thats awesome. and? Playing the pass isnt just about getting INT's.... which btw Jimmy may not get many of but by eliminating half of the field by himself he forces QB's to squeeze throws into much small windows that are crowded by more defenders since they know Jimmy is fine on his own. And most of Shermans INT's came when he was being tested often. His INT numbers have dropped steadily since teams started avoiding him. Jimmy doesnt get thrown at all. But when he does, he allows the lowest catch % of any CB in the league, and the fewest yards per reception when they do catch it. The only are of the field that QB's have even near league average passer rating throwing at Jimmy is behind or within 2 yards of the of scrimmage. He doesnt allow catches, and when he does he tackles right away for limited yardage. IE passing games dotn work in his direction. Id say thats pretty effective at playing the pass. And means more than an extra 2 or 3 INT's.... especially when hes helping Weddle, Webb, Tavon, Mosley and Orr get them (add Jefferson and Humphrey to that list now).
  25. your opinions are meaningless to me. youre the greatest hindsight evaluator of talent ive ever seen. Great that you think hes a 2nd round talent. Multiple sources have said most teams saw him as the #1 or #2 CB. So its not just Ozzie and Baltimore... the majority of the league is stupid.
