  1. Yea now that they finally have Walters board up you can do a realistic looking Mock.
  2. I want Mike Williams and OJ just not my top choice. Barnett is first and then a toss up between Foster and Williams. And wouldn't be at all disappointed with Howard. I think any one of them would net us a premier player at their position that will be here 10 years.
  3. I think much of that had to do with Barwin not being a fit at DE. Theyve got big money tied up in Brandon Graham and Vinny Curry and just signed Long. Long/Curry will prob rotate and Graham doesnt come off the field. They could use pass rush but its a luxury at this point compared to other positions. Name a CB on their roster without looking it up. As of now they'd be starting Jalen Mills, a 6th or 7th rd pick from last year. Wendell Smallwood is their current starting RB. Alshon/Torrey on 1 yr deals. Trust me, if it isnt CB at 14 its only bc they fall in love with Cook or a WR. Otherwise its CB.
  4. Precisely my thoughts as well. Barnett wish list... Tim Williams realistic wish list... Cam is my guess though. Other unrealistic wishes before i take TWill are Foster and MWill.
  5. Hooker went one pick after us to Wash... no real reason given. Foster fell bc of the "character concerns," but then mentions in the comments when he mocked Foster that "he could very well go earlier to the Saints, Colts, Ravens, etc... but here i have him free fall..." Ok, so you recognize that theres a bunch of teams that would love him... yet drop him anyways? especially us with our love for all things Bama.... especially Bama LB's. I feel like he just forgot certain players and then was like "oh yea, hes gotta go in the 1st. ill just slot him here then." Not having Elflein selected at all through round 5 is stupid. Having us pass on Tim Williams in the 2nd is stupid, especially when he doesnt have us grabbing a pass rusher anywhere else. According to his mock we couldve gone Foster/Williams 1-2 punch... Thats what Ozzie wet dreams are made of.
  6. If you're looking back for the ball its already not PI. So.... youre making a non-penalty a 15 yd penalty now?
  7. Outside Perriman who i think should go without saying between the potential hes shown coupled with opportunity... I think Pierce is going to become a beast this year... whether we trade Jernigan or not I could see Pierce really pushing him for time as both an early down run stuffer that can penetrate, but also a 3rd down guy that can get to the QB. Have high hopes for Kaufusi. Could see him making a big impact. And I think Dixon could end up with a David Johnson-esque type of game once he gets on the field consistently.
  8. The only way I see the Eagles not going CB is if they take Dalvin Cook, McCaffery, Mike Williams, Corey Davis or John Ross. Its CB, RB, WR or bust.
  9. I went Cam with what i think, and Barnett with who i want.
  10. i think the point is, ignoring every individual trait... put them together and Barnett is a better pass rusher, better run defender, better setting the edge, etc.... EDIT - i see he already responded similarly.
  11. So Chad Reuter just did a 5 round mock on NFL.com and its awful for us. (IMO at least). Dont think i like or understand a single pick made for us. RD 1 - John Ross But Malik Hooker and Reuben Foster were still on the board. RD 2- Cordrea Tankersly Prob my least favorite of the "2nd tier" CB's. Has us taking him, which i find to be a reach, with guys like Feeney, Tim Williams, Malik McDowell, Lawson, Marlon Humphrey, Budda Baker, and Sidney Jones still on the baord. RD 3 (1) - Ethan Pocic Not only do i think Elflein is the better player, but also a much better fit for what we want to do with our OL. He doesnt have Elflein picked at all in the first 5 rounds. Plus, guys like Godwin, Des King, Dorian Johnson, Duke Riley, Eluemunor, Kazee, and Kupp all still on the board. RD 3 (2) - Ryan Anderson Actually dont hate this... though id like it even more if we had hit on a pass rush specialist somewhere else. The two could platoon one side. I see him becoming a legit 3 down player with enough pass rush ability to keep on the field, and eventual replacement for Suggs, but i dont see him being a big threat off the edge right away. Other guys still on the board that go off before our next pick - Witherspoon, Adam Shaheen, Marcus Williams RD 4 - Jamaal Williams, RB Dont like this pick much at all. Several RBs i like just as much if not more later. Players we miss out on: Marcus Maye, Corn Elder, Treston Decoud, Howard Wilson, Joe WIlliams, Marlon Mack, DJ Jones, Bisnowaty, Asiata, RD 5 - Freddie Stevenson, FB I get we lost Juice... but going RB/FB rounds 4-5 makes no sense to me at all. We have a cpl guys that can fill the FB void, and Woodhead gives us a legit 3rd down back that can protect before slipping out of the backfield. Dont view RB as much of a need or even want unless its a potential star at a value spot (Fournette, Cook/McCaffery in the 2nd) or a homerun hitter (Cohen late). FB i see no reason to draft. Not many teams use a FB anymore, so i cant see much competition to draft one... should have your pick of the litter in UDFA and should have a leg up in getting them to sign with us, as we offer a great opportunity for them then almost any other team. And Dalvin Tomlinson was picked after this.... and even though we signed BWill, thats just too good of value to pass up at this point imo. Not to mention Elflein was still on the board...
  12. My issue with Jernigan is that, while he has actually been consistently very good against the run, he hasnt ever been the consistent pass rushing presence that we need on the inside. And we cant pay 2 guys a premium to just be run stuffers.... especially when our UDFA Pierce showed, albeit in a very small sample size, that he can be just as good against the run with equally inconsistent flashes as a pass rusher. If anything, Pierce might deserve more of an opportunity set to show if he can bring more of an interior pass rush. And guys that played better than Jernigan in that price range -- I imagine itd be pretty easy; just look at other guys on rookie deals too. Chris Jones ($700k) is one, Beau Allen ($700k) Danny Shelton ($1.4m), Arik Armstead, Deforest Buckner, Aaron Donald ($1.8m), Dominique Easley ($1.7m), Sheldon Richardson last year (1.6m), Kawann Short last year... I could go on... but its kind of a silly premise. You're basically asking which DL also on rookie contracts are better than Jernigan. And there are quite a few better or just as good, imo. The real question is, how many DT's who were drafted for their interior pass rushing ability, but have never shown an ability to consistently apply pressure are in demand. I dont think hes ever ranked in the Top 50 in PFF's pass rush productivity for DL's. As much as I like Jernigan, want him here, and hold out hope he can still put it together -- part of me believes Michael Pierce can easily be 80% of Jernigan for a fraction of the cost.... and has more time to surpass him.
  13. idk... hes an exciting player but idk that i trust us to get the most out of him. If you can manufacture touches in space for him, he can certainly be dangerous for you -- a la Percy Harvin or Patterson. Screens, (jet) sweeps, quick slants and things like that.... but i feel like we've always been bad at executing those types of plays. Hes a player you have to have a role for, you're going to have to build a package for him and make sure he gets those 5-10 manufactured touches a game... especially if you take him that high, because i dont know how much he's going to create for himself within the context of your offense. You're not going to line him up as a RB more than a handful of plays. Hes more of a WR than RB, but i dont see a very good route runner or hands. Kind of a gadget guy that can help on returns and produce some big plays on ST and in your offense-- but its something you have to have a vision for in advance, and commit to using for that investment to pay off. I just dont trust our coaching staff or offensive design to get a return on that investment. But, if we did he could certainly be an exciting player. just would prefer taking that sort of chance later on in the draft with the more conventional playmakers that should be available in the 2nd.
  14. IF we took one of them, there's still almost 100% certainty one of those guys will be there for them. And us passing up on potential elite playmakers just to keep Denver from landing the RT or G they want is a terrible reason to take an OL at 16. Theres no guarantee they'll take an OL in the 1st, there are still players on the market and camp cuts to come, its not unheard of that later round OL can make an early impact.... So even if us taking OL at 16 meant Denver not getting the guy they wanted.... it doesnt guarantee anything in terms of how they'll play or their chances of making the playoffs.
  15. cant believe some havent figured this out yet.... and its not unique either -- its just a bad pft commenter impersonation. Anyways, 100% agree with your take on the FO's plan on the offense, perceptions of the draft in terms of "strengths/weaknesses," and the emphasis on C over RT. Couldnt have said it better myself.
  16. Floors and ceilings are hypothetical, imaginary things that evaluators and media make up to describe what they think might happen and to account for the what if.... like what if theyre wrong. Saying a guy has a low floor and high ceiling is essentially saying he could suck or could be great. Well no duh. And consensus opinions don't matter either. 99% of people can think Garret is cant miss... but if one team isn't convinced and thinks someone else is better, and their player ends up proving that out -- the 1 was right. 99.999999% of experts once guaranteed without a doubt the world was flat. 1 guy was right. Consensus opinions and projections don't matter. Ultimately all that matters is what guys in our war room think and that the guys they pick can play. And the Ravens could very well think that Cam has an incredibly high floor and ceiling, while they see someone like Ross having a very low floor. Same can be said for almost anyone. The narrative of floors and ceilings, and consensus doesn't mean anything. All that matters is who the FO thinks is the best player for them at 16 and whether or not they're right. And I don't get your "what have you done for me lately" comment. It's the draft and that's the point. None of these guys has done anything... lately, a long time ago, yesterday, never. The draft is what will you end up doing for me. Bc no one cares how high you or Todd McShay said his floor was if he can't get on the field and Peppers/Cam/Ram, whoever end up making all pros. You don't get rings or prizes a week after the draft bc all the media evaluators get together and said you picked all the best value guys... your guys floors and ceiling and ratings were way above where you picked -- great job! If the FO thinks Cam Robinson is the , say, 8th best player in the draft and the other 7 get picked... then he's the right pick at the time. How he plays determines whether their evaluation is right or not. Nothing else.
  17. I could see Harris over Watt if they're looking for a pure pass rusher to help immediately... especially on a near contending team that has two established starters on the edge and is just looking for more heat on 3rd downs -- which is prob around the area both these guys would start becoming a consideration. Watt's more ready to step into a 3 down, starting role day 1 but there's only 2-3 guys I have ahead of Harris from a pure pass rushing perspective. A team like Pitt is could see wanting Watt over Harris if they go OLB, but I could see maybe ATL preferring Harris if they were to.
  18. Love the first 4 picks. Might have gone with a CB over Jackson if Howard Wilson, Corn Elder, Akhello Witherspoon, or Kazee were available. Like Conner a lot too. And I'm intrigued by Griffin. Would prob prefer the above guys if one dropped... also like Treston Decoud a lot who should be available around this point -- but Griffin has size/length and tons of raw athleticism. Developmental project but that's expected at this point in the draft. Overall id be pumped with this haul.
  19. It depends. Conventional wisdom says franchise tackles go that high and you can wait on other OL positions... but we've seen an emphasis on interior OL lately. I mean many thought Frederick was a reach for need by the Cowboys at the time.... but now they've got a perennial all pro C. If the FO thinks Cam Robinson, Bolles, or Lamp is an all pro at G/RT/C then it's not really a reach. Plus mocks don't usually project trades and that's always a possibility - they're hearing we love Cam but we only love him if we can trade down in the 18-22 range. Ultimately we can all say what value is... but if say Myles Garret is a huge bust and Cam Robinson becomes a HOF LG... then Garret would've been a waste even at 16 and Robinson would've been a great pick (assuming no other HOF players at more important positions were on the board for us there). Id be happy if we traded back and went OL while picking up another pick on day 2 or multiple picks. But if we stay put id much prefer the top pass rusher available, MW/CD, OJ, a top CB... Foster if he falls somehow, I might even prefer Fournette if he fell to us. Ultimately I trust our FO evaluations over media guys and myself - so while the media and I may not think there's an OL worthy at 16.... if the FO does im not one to judge, especially with their track record of drafting them.
  20. Jahad Thomas from Temple. undersized but Matt Ruhl produces football players even if they come on smaller packages (Tavon, Reddick). The kid has great vision and just makes people miss. Really smooth with the ball in his hands. Isn't running through contact but sees space others don't and has the quickness/change of direction to cut past would be tacklers. He was a leader on that overachieving team for 2 years, and arguably their most dangerous offensive player. Also very dangerous receiver out of the back field and the slot. Def a late rounder/UDFA prospect. Might not take him even with the 6th but if he goes undrafted I hope he's a priority for us. Reunite him with Tavon.... make us Temple NFL. Cuz I love Reddick and Dawkins too... wouldn't hate that combo 1st/2nd. All these guys are just football players. Shame Ruhl left for Baylor.... but I guarantee Baylor starts pumping out consistent prospects that succeed in the NFL starting in a year or 2.
  21. I think the comment on Lewis is more or less bc they're not in a position to be picky and Lewis' versatility helps the situation. Were going to get the best possible OL, and then put the best 5 we have on the field. If we find a C and G - Lewis could play RT. That's all. And im not as worried about RT if we get a legit C. Interior OL is key to me, and I'm intrigued by the potential of Wesley. I also wouldn't be shocked if come July Mangold gets signed. I know some don't like that, but I think he'd be a nice 1-2 year answer while we develop or patiently wait to find the long term answer. Imo the weakness of this OL draft is overstated bc there aren't any obvious franchise type LT's at the top... the best OL players project best to G or RT. But I actually think it's pretty solid rounds 2-4 at the positions we need. Cam, Ram, Lamp, Feeney, Dawkins could all be trade back or 2nd round options to fill either LG or RT (Lewis at the other).... Elflein could be a day 1 starter at C in either the 2nd or 3rd. And then there's a number of guys like Moton, Toth, Elumeunor, Morgan, Dielman, Bisnowaty, etc... that could play multiple positions and be available anywhere from the 3rd to the 6th to compete for a starting job. Weve routinely pulled guys out of the middle of drafts that come in and produce almost right away (Lewis, Yanda, KO, Wagner). I think the goal will be to nail at least one starter this draft and if not both plug the 2nd hole with a vet cut or someone like Mangold, Dunlap, Clady, etc.... Then finalize it next year to have 4 starters on rookie deals. Not to mention they clearly like Urschel, Jensen, Wesley, Nembot and Skura. Don't be surprised if one of them starts and plays really well. Also keep in mind the coaching changes made on offense with emphasis on the OL/run game. We've seen in past different coaching and suddenly someone unexpected bursts on the scene.
  22. Maybe its just John doing one of his brothers players a favor. Or it could be collecting intel... seeing if anyone behind us is in love with him, bc if a cpl pass rushers go off the board ahead of us a team later could get antsy and want to jump up to snag Taco so we dont. We agree to trade back with them, they get Taco, we get an extra pick(s) and still end up with Cam, Tim Williams, Charles Harris, or someone else we covet.
  23. they give you like 10 different site's big boards to choose from... and certain sites or mock guys just have him real low. Prob an overemphasis on the off-the-field stuff, or maybe they dont like his limited production and all being a 3rd down, pass rush specialist.
  24. And a mid/late round guy I like alot (admittedly a little bias) is Jordan Morgan from Kutztown. I went to Bloomsburg with Jahri Evans during his run there.... and Kutztown was our biggest rival. Jahri destroyed everyone like no one in that conference had seen before... and went on to become an all pro, pro bowl G in the NFL. Apparently (and i might agree, thought ive only seen him play live twice) this Morgan kid is better than Jahri was. Always tough to tell with the level of competition, but hes just as big while leaner, and a better athlete. I think he'll be the small school, late round gem of this draft.
  25. I actually want to see what Wesley can do at RT, but im not comfortable with it as is. Dont want Urschel near C -- Zuttah lite. I'd prefer Jensen there but dont like him much either. Id be intrigued to see what Matt Skura can do there, but again, would be comfortable with any of these 3 until they prove something. Now -- if we locked down a good C via draft, or maybe someone like Mangold that could possibly be an band aid upgrade for a year.... then id feel A LOT better about Wesley/Nembot at RT. But none of those guys are reasons to ignore potential upgrades in the draft.
