No i hear ya... im just saying that those tweets dont make it any more or less likely. Suddenly some Ravens employee didnt leak the team's draft plan. They dont even let anyone see the big board really.

i wouldnt get too upset. Why exactly 2 days before the draft would anyone from the Ravens release who theyre planning on taking?? Makes 0 sense. "Cam enters the conversation" and "cam is the likely pick" are 2 separate things.

Gotta stay off twitter too. The recent trend of guys like Rappaport and Schefter announcing the teams' picks before they're announced on TV drives me nuts. Takes all the drama, suspense and fun out of draft night.

I too think he'll be gone before our pick; but often what teams think of prospects and what the national media/fans think of prospects varies greatly. I tend to think Tennessee goes with a DB there at 5... either one of the safeties or the top CB because theres almost 0 chance one of them is available at their 2nd pick, and a pretty decent chance that one of the top 3 WRs is there for them at 18. Adams and Hooker are elite safety prospects. Elite. Cant imagine them going WR when most have very little separating Williams, Davis and Ross. The drop off from Adams and Hooker to Peppers, Baker, Obi and Johnson is much larger. If they prefer CB then maybe they go WR bc i dont see a huge drop off between Lattimore, Humphrey, Conley and the like. But those safeties man.... it'd be really hard for me to pass up.

See i dont think that at all... I think the board is built almost objectively disregarding need. If they incorporated need into the board and ranking of players it would skew the perceived value of players in the draft and to the league. The way i understood it from Decosta's answers was that the board is the board and the true evaluation of players. When it comes to their pick though they include how they value the players based on where they fall on the board... meaning a QB they have 5th on the board probably has less value to them at the 16th pick than would say a pass rusher who is 10th on their board. But they want to keep that QB 5th on the board, not drop him later down, so that sitting in the war room they can clearly see and know that hey -- there's a QB sitting here whose value at this stage in the 1st round is skyrocketing... telling them that they have big leverage over a team behind them that may want to move up. GIves them the upper hand if say Houston calls wanting to move up. I mean granted they would probably know this whether or not they moved him down.... but with so much going on and the craziness of draft night -- im sure they want everything as clean and clearly displayed as possible. I think the only time need would impact placement on the board is when you have 2 equally graded players, or graded so close together where if you have a QB and say a WR both with grades of 85 you'd put the WR 1st in the pecking order and the QB right behind him.... but not in the sense that you'd put a pass rusher with an 80 grade ahead of a QB with an 85 grade on the board. So if what you meant was need comes into play when determining ties or really close calls this late in the process, then sure i agree with you there.... but if what youre saying is that theyre revisiting the board and (just to simply quantify the example) say assigning a -10 value to all QB's grades on the board and moving them accordingly, then no i dont agree with that.

Yea the Corey Davis talk seemed awkward for some reason. Hard to tell without being able to see their expressions but it sounded like Decosta stopped himself short of saying something he shouldn't have. I didn't take away that they're changing the board for need... to me it sounded like all he was saying was that they aren't going to pick strictly BPA -- meaning someone like Trubisky may be 12th on their board let's say... but if he's the highest value when they pick they won't take him bc of the lack of need. But I could be wrong on that, maybe they do drop them down beforehand. The small school thing was interesting too where they feel like they've come up with a more accurate way to evaluate the lower level of competition compared to the rest of the league. So they've made a point to target those guys in recent years bc other teams tend to really drop their value compared to SEC/Big10 type players... and it's led to Webb, Judon, BWill, etc... Could also be another insight that we value Corey Davis more than most bc we would knock him less than most teams for the lack of competition. 2.5 more days.

Barnett, Mike Williams, Cam Robinson, Corey Davis and Reuben Foster. Haason Reddick as an outside shot. Im 90% on those 5... but could see someone like Charles Harris, Marlon Humphrey, or Takk as a 10% off chance . But I actually think there's a good chance that Harris and Humphrey are off the board already.

It makes it more fun and engaging. And this draft theres easily 15-20 prospects I really like in the 1st round range. Chances are good we get at least one. Plus it adds to the drama... understanding why it's a shock when a team picks a certain guy. and you feel good when you nail a prospect that maybe the media wasn't as high on or vice versa when you don't like a prospect that everyone seems high on. Plus as a coach i love evaluating athletes, team building, projecting skill sets, etc.... Its a lot of fun. And loving certain prospects gives another angle for watching the other Nfl teams play. Tracking the guys you liked to see if they pan out and what not.

If you haven't listened to the most recent Lounge Podcast I'd advise you do so. They sat down with Decosta... and while he didn't give too much away obviously there were some interesting nuggets. At one point they talked about how early on in the process CB seemed like the obvious choice in the 1st rd but now much less so especially with the depth. Decosta said that an inability to cover people on Defense is the #1 way to lose games... and if someone is on the board that they think can be an elite cover guy they would have a very very hard time passing that up. They asked about Corey Davis and how him not working out effects the evaluation... and he said obviously it's a bit more tough when you don't have all the info -- and then there was this almost awkward pause where it seemed like Decosta was going to say something but then caught himself, before finishing by saying "but he's a very good player. We like him." @JoeyFlex5 adding fuel to your conspiracy. And they asked him about his ability to predict who were going to pick. Has he made his prediction yet?? As I was listening I said out loud that I've got it down to about 5 players. Decosta said he's got it done to 5 players. Hoping we're thinking the same 5. Check it out guys.... it's actually a really good episode. Usually don't get that personal insight into Decosta. Really cool. Side notes -- it's actually funny too as Decosta talks about the pranks he pulls around the Castle. Also explains why he's turned down GM offers. Awesome and makes me proud to be a Ravens fan and that he's one of our guys. And keep an eye out... next episode is Joe Hortiz, so should be some interesting nuggets on that one too.

With the 18th pick the Tennessee Titans select: Marlon Humphrey, CB Alabama After grabbing an offensive weapon at 5 they grab their future #1 CB who will partner with Ryan for a formidable tandem. They were tempted by John Ross but went with a more sure thing.

My advice would be to, come week 5 feature Dixon. Run behind that boy.... he will carry 4-5 defenders on his back if needed at times. And hes a threat out of the backfield. Get on his back and take it to the playoffs. Commit to it and dont look back. Oh and get some big nasties up front.

So what happened with Jourdan Lewis? I know there was an incident that allegedly involved domestic violence, but anyone know the specifics? I know what our stance is on that, but im wondering if maybe Jim Harbs gave him a recommendation or a green light on his character - whether we'd make an exception... Probably not... but man, with how low he's seemingly dropped in pretty much everyones opinion -- i would absolutely love to grab him late if everything checks out. I never really studied him bc of the red flag and figured he'd be off our board... but just watched him last night and today - and that kid can ball. He'd be an absolute STEAL in the 4th-6th. Tough as nails and has the swagger/attitude we havent had as much of lately.
