  1. Do not need to put him on the active roster until 10th Nov. if you had bothered to read the article instead of rushing to spew venom...
  2. A lot of our draft choices have not lived up to the hype since 2009. The last eight drafts have yielded about 4 IMPACT PLAYERS and numerous ROSTER FILLERS. Probably about the same as every team in the league, if you'd bother to look it up...and what's your definition of an "impact player"? Someone who starts? Goes to the pro-bowl? Looks good if you play fantasy football? Pretty subjective if you ask me. Or are you looking for Ogden,Lewis and Reed type players? Sorry, first ballot hall of famers only come along once in a blue moon. We got spoiled by lucking out on getting three of them in pretty quick sucsession. Our drafts haven't been as bad as some people make it out to be. Could we have done better? Yeah, but second guessing doesn't do a darn thing. You play the cards your dealt with. If people want to bemoan any player we didn't get, get used to a lot of crying and disappointment.
  3. I looked at our Draft choices from 1996 till 2016 and our drafts of late haven't been THAT bad. We picked a lot of years lately at the end of the first round or didn't even have a first round pick. It seems to me weve kept a lot more players from our drafts now (or they were given HUGE salaries from other teams) than in the first half of our existence. And yet even though you speak the truth, some people won't listen. Our drafts have been no worse than most teams, and better than some teams. Especially considering that we are a perrenial play-off team and usually get low draft picks...A lot of fans seem to think we should draft Johnathan Ogden,Ray Lewis and Ed Reed types every year, but getting those three guys was more luck than skill, Ozzie figured they'd be good, but NO GM would ever know that a guy coming out of college will be a first ballot hall of famer like those three...However, some fans are spoiled and think that every pick should be a stud player that makes the pro-bowl every year and never suffers any type of injury. Unrealistic.
  4. Agree. Take a look at the Ravens Draft picks going back to 2009. A handful of IMPACT PLAYERS(at best) numerous ROSTER FILLERS. Like with just about every other organization... A voice of reason shines out off the darkness...
  5. We could definately use some help at safety, so this was not an unexpected move. Really hope that Elam can make a difference...he's shown some flashes, but has never lived up to his hype, so maybe he can come in and prove himself...can't be any worse than Kendrick Lewis played in any case.
  6. And I really need to get it off my chest, but the refereeing this year is absolutely attrocious...not just against the Raven's but all across the board in every game. I mean, is this what the NFL is mandating now? Unexcusable, really, really rotten officiating that is taking away from the game's enjoyment. Another reason ratings are tanking...
  7. Just look at the standings...other than the Patriots, there's no other team in the AFC that looks even remotely dominating. Truth be told, there's really no team in the NFC, except maybe Dallas, that would meet the definition of above average...This is a weird year for the NFL, all those years of wanting parity and they've finally gotten their wish: which is boring, sub-standard football. So as far as I can see, even though the Raven's are stinking up the joint, it only takes a mini hot streak to climb right back into things. (how many people had written off the Bills? the Chargers? even the awful Texans are still in the race...) Not saying they can pull it off, but like it or not, Baltimore is still in contention. Even if they are a sloppy team. Welcome to the new NFL, where any and every team lingers on like slow moving zombies...
  8. Don't really expect to many tears to be shed for Kendrick Lewis leaving...So I guess that Levine is the new substitution, or does Marqueston Huff get the call? Taliaferro has always been o.k. inside the red zone, or picking up that crucial one yard... wouldn't surprise me to see the Raven's employ him as the 3rd/4th down short yardage back as well as a needed boost on special teams.
  9. Hmmm, the Bungles are in total confusion & chaos, Burfect seems to have gone completely crazy and word is that Marvin Lewis is losing his lockeroom. The Squeelers are without Big Ben (and have a pretty porus defense that scares no one), not to mention that we were terrible last year and swept them. We have ALWAYS played the Pats close and are one of the few teams that Belicheck & Brady actually sweats over. Dallas has NEVER beaten us, even when they've fielded good teams and we've put out scrub players, not to mention that we have the #1 run defense in the NFL, so I hope they would try to run at us... Yet all I seem to hear from local and national media, plus supposed fan's, is that this schedule is just to brutal and that the Raven's may as well start tanking to try to get a higher draft pick...and I laugh at every single one of you and only ask that when this team doesn't give up and keeps on fighting to win games that you please stay off our bandwagon and go root for some team like the Eagles or Deadskins, they'd be happy to accept wanna-be doom-saying cry-babies...
  10. Yeah, you might as well give up watching them play dude...at least then we wouldn't have to hear all those doom and gloom projection's you've been spouting every day. These Raven's are so horrible that they should just move the team to Vegas, cause they will never be a good team again, never mind they've won two super bowls, that's all in the past and were probably some kind of mysterious flukes anyways... And yeah, might as well try to lose games. That will teach Ozzie and Harbs...unlike those Squeelers, who like you say, never ever complain about anything and are the shining beacons of how a real football team plays! Wow, some people might confuse you with being a fan of theirs, lucky we know better,eh? Don't let fastynart bait you, I'm fairly certain he's a Pitt fan that joined just to troll. I know, I just like to throw back some venom every now and then.

  12. Guess you didn't watch last year's super bowl, because Denver's defense won that game...we also had 1 pick in the 5th round, 2 in the 6th and zero in the 7th last draft, not the numbers you quoted, so guess you may not have paid attention to that either...and I have to like how trading away most of our picks to get one or two guys in the top round's is a sure fire way to improve this team. We all know that top picks always become quality players and are never injured, meanwhile player's picked in the latter rounds are automatic busts... And as you may not know, if we had kept and signed the four guys that you mentioned at the prices they were paid, we'd be over the salary cap not only this year, but for the next several years. That's how the league works in reality.
  13. Yeah, we know if you were drafting players they'd all be pro bowlers and future hall of famers...and which coaches are you talking about? All of these players would have been picked by an NFL team, we just got them first. I think i'll wait and give them a chance to play before I decide on what their talent level is. Always good to actually give someone an opportunity before rushing to judgement. But like I said, you would only draft guys who are superstars that never get injured, so I respect your opinion.
  14. Wow ....did I strike a cord or something??!! I am not fan bashing!! Just like you said...everyone has their own opinions. Mine is, "it doesn't sit well with me" when a "fan" bashes someone on the team. It's my right to say so, like it's your right to say what you say. Thanks for letting me know what a true fan is..... Respect, I agree with you..... While everyone is entitled to their opinion and constructive criticism, I kind of get really tired of the mean-spirited, venom-filled posts about anyone and everyone in the entire organization, that is NOT constructive criticism in any way, shape or form. This world seems full of enough hate, and I just need to go de-stress after reading the forums sometimes..... People also seem to forget that there are a lot of yellow and black trolls out there. Trust me, I know one personally who loves to come on this site and stir people up. So you have to take some comments with a grain of salt, especially the real wacky ones that obviously have no connection with reality. Haters gonna hate.
  15. They only need to be ashamed for keeping Hurst because he is truly awful. If they had kept almost any other backup T they would have been fine to deal with some injuries for a few days. I was surprised Hurst even made the roster...and I would throw out Kendrick Lewis as another name that had no business being on our squad. After last season one would have thought the Raven's would have understood the need for credible back-ups across the board, but as injuries on our O-line and in our secondary have shown, we kept players who did not perform well last year and haven't played well yet again this year. Not to say this will doom us this year: The Raven's have enough talent and potential to still make improvements and become a better, more focused team. But after all the talk of getting rid of low performing players this last off season, it seems the team still holds on to several players who have shown little ability to play NFL football at the level required to consistently win games.
  16. Johnson has been an NFL reject for years...Any team would have a field day ripping him to shreds. If he was an even borderline starter he would be playing right now.
  17. 15 years ago I would have agreed because the D had teeth.. now each game is a folly...come on they cant bury a Kirk Cousins and Luke McKown led squad? Cleveland actually has a very good offensive line, they just can never select a QB that's capable of playing in the NFL...just saying...
  18. apparently there's no such thing as improving or progressing to Ravens fans. Eh, there's a lot of trolls on this site. Wadda ya gonna do... AFC North is wide open for the taking. Squeelers without Big Ben, and really their defense wasn't all that great anyways. Bungles look to be self destructing in front of everyone's eyes. (and I'm sure there's a load of people out there who would want Burfect on the Raven's because he "plays hard"...and also plays as dirty as anyone who put on a Raiders uniform back in the 70's.) Brownies are the Brownies...so the division is there for the taking, just a matter of the Raven's getting their heads & hearts into playing winning football instead of the hesitant, penalty marred mess they've been putting out on the field so far this year.
  19. I agree. Very disappointed in the loss but it is what it is. On to the next game. AFC north is still up for grabs. Just reminding people.
  20. Good for you! We won't miss you one bit!
  21. Very constructively said...I agree with your definition of bandwagon vs. angry fan. And I try not to drink too much purple kool-aid. But I also realize that some things are fixable, such as penalties, team discipline and more effective play calling. And when certain fans seem way to quick to surrender the season, and start calling to gut the entire team, and the sky is falling, and this team will be horrible for the next ten years (and you know they're out there, generating doom and dismay), it gets frustrating for the more optimistic ones out there. The AFC north is open for the taking. It's that simple. All the Raven's need is to get hot, and the path is there, waiting to be walked down. So I don't mind people being critical, nor having negative opinions, as long as it's based in reality. But some of the out right falsities and delusional predictions wear a little thin. There are a lot of trolls out there, and sometimes you need to knock them back into their caves (or mom's basements) when they rear their yellow and black heads...
  22. Penalties...these stupid penalties are absolutely killing the Ravens. Any time we start to get any kind of momentum, here comes a flag. I can understand some of the holding penalties so that Joe doesn't get crushed, but there are way to many inexcusable calls for just being plain stupid. If it wasn't for the fact that the AFC North still looks wide open for any team that can get hot enough to take it, we would be in serious trouble. Very fortunate that the Bungles look as bad as we do and the Squeelers will be without Big Ben for awhile (not to mention that the Squeeler's D looks terrible anyways). So the path is still open, we just need to get serious about walking down it.
  23. Well, I've wondered how much of Trestman being hired was front office more than Harbs...maybe why they seemed like they wern't on the same page sometimes...Harbs and Mornhinweg were both coaches under Andy Reid (and likewise from the Holmgren mold), so maybe they will have a better understanding? Whatever the case, I'm personally glad to see Trestman out the door and hope that we see something different than what he brought to the table, which wasn't much...
  24. To me, the biggest reason we've lacked long, sustainable drives is the fact that we seem to always shoot ourselves in the foot with penalties. And the scary offensive line play is the reason ... it is along the line where these drive-killing penalties occur. They generally don't appear to be of the bone-head variety (false start or hands to the face) ... they normally seem to be the "I can't cleanly block my opponent so I guess I better grab him" kind of penalties. Right on the money!!! Penalties are killing us this year, and I've seen WAY to many of the type you describe, although I guess they're better than letting Flacco get clobbered out there...
