  1. Funny ha ha......no he is the dude that in "2014" had 17 sacks. Last year, yes, he fell "off" because Suggs was out for the year. Wow.....the guy misses some time and people are ready to write him off. Harsh crowd around here. Some time isn't 9 games and when players make that much, yes we expect something out of them more than half way into the year. Michael Campanaro went on IR in the preseason, got cut with an injury settlement, came back, resigned and is now playing and Elvis is still dealing with his stubbed toe. Clearly someone checked out on the team he thought wasn't going to be very good and perhaps it is time to just go ahead and cut the cord. I think Eugene Monroe put more effort into playing this year than Dumberville did. Judon is progressing very nice and filling his spot quite well and since this is the last year on Dumervilles contract it looks like he is getting himself ready for the next team he plays for. Why? Doom isn't really taking anyone's roster spot, and if he can come back healthy down the stretch, that's good news for the Ravens. I mean, if there was someone more deserving to be on the 53 man squad I'd probably agree with you, but there's no one knocking down the door. No risk/high reward keeping him on the inactive list on game days if he can maybe make a difference later on. And as for his "stubbed toe", remember that was the same injury that ended Johnathan Ogden's career...more serious than most people realize.
  2. Yeah right, you'd probably want to go on the IR for a hangnail...
  3. One of the Raven's mascot's would be better than the clown's on the real Presidential ballot...
  4. The Ravens were not in a prevent defense. Pees started blitzing CB & Safeties which allowed guys to get open (hence the Powers sack on Ben). The Bend don't Break defense worked great for 3 quarters - the exotic blitzes in the 4th - not so much. And as they say - if a defender could catch, he would be on offense. Have to disagree with you this time...We were in Pee's version of a prevent defense. Yes, he did start blitzing with the secondary more, but he also went into his zone coverage and protection packages more often, instead of letting the defense do what it had done very well for the first three quarters. And he does this in most games, sometimes leading the opposing team to score on us and letting them back in the game, or even down right losing the game. It's one of the more frustrating aspects of the Ravens recently: look like game winners, yet give up that crucial drive in the waning moments of the game. And I fault the play calling more than the players a lot of the time. My biggest knock on Harbs and his coaching staff is more clock management than bad play calling. Bad habit he seems to have picked up from Andy Reid, who has lost more than his share of games from unwise usage of the play clock. The Raven's seem to either have complete ignorance about the clock, or go dramatically overboard trying to hurry and finish games in too much of a rush. Unfortunately, this has always been Harb's achillie's heel, so not much chance correcting it now.
  5. As much as I hate to agree. I agree. He has been TERRIBLE. We'd be 0-7 if we didn't have the best D in the league right now. Hopefully it's confidence that he lost after the injury and it will slwoly come back. A lot does look like focus and preperation though. Hopefully this big win instilled confidence in everyone today. If Joe starts playing well, we are close to unbeatable. Random side note, I really hope Young permately just took Wright's spot. Wright is playing as bad as Flacco this year You really have to wonder about Joe's focus now. He seems like he is not in the game and is just going through the motions every Sunday afternoon. I almost feel that he would rather be home with his family now instead of playing for his outrageous paycheck. Time to look at the QB crop in the upcoming draft. There are some good prospects out there this season. best D in the league, hmm? The Steelers ran out of time or it was headed to another late game loss. I recall they have lost at least two games on the opponents last possession....Raiders and NYG. The defense may (?) have been in prevent but looked gassed again. Not one pressure on that last touchdown drive. The D line had nothing left. Good defenses can finish games. One kudo to the DL player (forgot who) that dragged Ben down by the jersey. How many times have we seen Ben get out of that and throw a TD....? Great play, No, they were in the prevent, which Pees loves to employ late in games even though it more than occasionally burns us. I didn't see the defense looking "gassed", I just saw them utilizing Pee's weak prevent play calling.
  6. Raven's defense went into their "prevent" mode after scoring on the blocked punt. And surprise, surprise, Squeelers mounted a comeback. If we had stayed in our normal defense we possibly could have shut them out. But for what ever reason, Dean Pees always reverts to his prevent defense mode, which always stinks. So no, Big Ben would not have blown the Raven's out, just poor defensive play calling in the forth quarter by Pees, as per usual, nearly let them back in the game. As for Joe, there's little in the way of excuses for his play. If he's still hurt, he needs to take a seat. If he's simply scared of getting injured again, the problem is really serious. Whatever is going on, we can't get on a streak with his abyssmal QB play. We absolutely HAVE to get this win against the Brownies this Thursday, so it'll be interesting to see how Harb's handles it if Joe continues his horrible play.
  7. Yet another great day for Zachary Orr...this guy seems to be getting more impressive as the season wears on. Between him and Mosley, and if Judon continues to develop, we have the makings of an outstanding group of young linebackers. Job well done yesterday!
  8. Wow! Hit the nail on the head! Let me say just one thing. Leaders lead!! If they don't, the team, business, platoon, family, etc. fall apart. Unfortunately, there are no leaders on this team. The greatest leader of all time left four years ago, and exposed two average, overpaid charlatans who were riding his coattails. Wow, living in the past...That leader was basically done as a player by that time in his career, and was injured and not even around the team a good part of the season. Yet somehow people will credit him with single handedly leading them to a super bowl victory.(even though the 49er's specifically targeted him and almost came back to win the game) If you think that the only motivation for that team was to win another ring for one guy, that's crazy talk.Or more definately media talk, because they will always run with the "do it for so-and-so" story EVERY time they get the chance.I kinda think that a historic run by their QB in the play-offs may have had a little to do with helping them win, not to mention a certain head coach who had to quell some bad blood in the middle of the season and keep everyone on the same page. I imagine they are the "charlatans" you mentioned, I suppose we would have won the super bowl without either of them? By the way, what jersey number do you wear? Curious to find out how you know that there are no leaders in the Raven's locker room. Or is this simply an assumption on your part now that your favorite player retired, and no one will ever live up to his hype? I hate putting a damper on one of the greatest Raven's to play the game, but there is a point where putting a person on a pedestal and the awful truth of reality collide. There are way to many fan's out there who want to climb back into the way-back machine and live through their version of the past. You see this all the time. Get your head out of the sand and enjoy the future. And as for the original post, what kind of garbage is that? Even if we win, its only because the squeelers played bad? Yellow and Black troll alert! Now that you've totally gotten off the Raven's band wagon, and alerted everyone that you dislike the team no matter what the outcome, please get out of the road and root for whatever team happens to be hot flavor right now. You can always sneak back on board when the Raven's are playing better.
  9. Goose is the Raven's version of the Colt's Art Donovan. Big, fun loving, blue collar type guys that any fan would love to have over for a big dinner and a few beers...it seems that teams are so worried about their players appearing "professional" nowadays that you don't have as many jokers around to keep the locker room loose, or at least you don't hear about them as much.Shame.
  10. Harbs gets plenty of criticism from sources outside Baltimore, but he also has a lot of respect for his accomplishments, something some of the local fan base/media tend to ignore and focus only on the "what have you done for me right now" mentality. If we were to get rid of Harbaugh, he would immediately have suitors lining up to hire him, both NFL and major colleges. Every single coach in football history has had some flaws, but it's always the local team supporters who are the most relentless in bringing up their faults. Always has been, always will be.
  11. Tomlin's quote on Mike Wallace: "I'm not acknowledging he's gotten better at anything", then semi back tracks "I wasn't identifying it as any known area of weakness"...yeah, right, if he'd thought Wallace was o.k. at route running and underneath plays the Squeelers would have incorporated that into their game plans. That's why he called him a one trick pony. No love lost between these two, Wallace has got to be stoked to go out and put up big numbers against his old team. Hope he can burn them for a couple scores.
  12. Let me guess. Anyone who disagrees with YOU is a "SORRY RAVENS FAN." Well, some of us wish for an NFL QB. Guess that makes us "SORRY." I've no problem with people calling out Flacco, I do have an issue when it's simply "get rid of him right now" mentality. Who do we go with? Mallet? Give me a break, the dude may be a reliable back-up, but would you be comfortable with him as the Raven's full time starter? Not me. There's a reason he's bounced around the league, and if he was all that, the Pat's would not have gotten rid of him for essentially little in return. Not to mention that he will be expecting to get paid next year, and with the going rate for QB's through the roof, some team will vastly overpay for an inferior product. Which the Raven's would have to do if they wanted any other QB out on the market, so that basically rules out free agency to replace Joe. The final option would be to draft a QB in next years draft, which probably seems the most likely scenario that I could see the Raven's taking. So while a lot of fans may not like Flacco, whining about replacing him is not realistic. He's here to stay for awhile. The best they can hope for would be he gets injured and Mallet takes over, which I really don't see as a good thing. As the old saying goes, be careful what you wish for. Better to hope that the O-line solidifies, and Joe can regain his composure.
  13. Flacco is playing with a injured/crappy O-Line that can't protect. He is also coming off an ACL injury and playing through a Shoulder Injury and Missing his #1 WR. Your comment shows lack of knowledge of the current situation. Flacco is the guy. As a team we need to commit to the run for 4 quarters, and use play action to our benefit. Dixon could provide the splash plays that keep drives alive. FLACO SOULD NOT THROW THE BALL 40 TIMES! HAHA! The Far Below Average Joe excuse machine rolls on! Just watching last night's game, made me yearn for a half decent QB, so we wouldn't be wasting some awesome D. Wentz and Prescott play like seasoned vets, while FBAJ plays like a wide eyed rookie sinking in quick sand. By the way, FBAJ shouldn't throw the ball ONCE! He shouldn't be anywhere near a football field. HAHA! The won more playoff games and a super bowl than guy's you wish played for us joe hater's machine rolls on also, I see...
  14. Yeah, you're talking about every team in the league...thank the NFL for their devotion to parity: sloppy, uninspired games.
  15. I've been happy with the way Orr has played...coming into the season this was a wide open job, and he has done some good work at his position.
  16. Yes, the officiating in the NFL is horrendous. And to add to that, defensive players are being fined at a record pace.To be honest, most of our players from the 2000 championship team would be fined so badly that they would essentially be paying to play in the league. We all love Ray Lewis in Baltimore, but in today's version of pro football he would probably be suspended forever for making the hits that he made every game day. Yet the NFL is puzzled why ratings are down...
  17. These forums exist so that fans can discuss their opinions. Silly to say that someone with an opinion different than yours is a "hater." No one here hates the Ravens. Those people post to the Pittsburgh Steelers forums. wow...are you really that naive? I personally know a Squeelers fan who logs on here to stir people up...In case you've never noticed, there are people called "trolls" out there on the internet.. And in any case, when I hear so called "fans" on this site spewing unbridled anger at players and coaches, and offering no solution other than "fire everybody in the front office and on the coaching staff, then cut 90% of the players, then rebuild the entire franchise for the next ten years or so", yeah, then my opinion is that those people are haters with no realistic approach on how to solve a problem other than run their mouth about it and have no constructive viewpoint in my opinion. Which I'm wondering why you feel that I should not be able to express my opinion for some reason. So i'll say it again... Hater's gonna hate...send em' to the moon... Just my opinion...
  18. That's like having a family meeting and letting the kids tear the parents apart or a class meeting and let the students tear the teacher apart. It just undermines the authority and does no good. Most of the players are very young and don't know what makes a good team. They need to know their role and do their jobs. Very true...People tend to forget that the players work for the Ravens, and that there is no job out there where an employee can openly criticize their superiors and bosses. (yeah, there's jobs that claim you can make "constructive criticism", but lets live in reality folks...) Unless your name is Lebron James, you'll get tagged with the "difficult" label the rest of your career. See: Raven's mini rebellion of 2012, and where are they now?
  19. Didn't care for the Hester signing when it happened...The guy was awesome ten years ago, but had done relatively little the last few years (other than be injured), so no surprise that he is basically a shell of his former self. The problem was that Camp wasn't ready to take the job either, so if you bring him back you still have no viable returner other than maybe SSS or Webby, neither of which the Raven's would want playing special teams on a regular basis. I guess the logic is that Camp can't look any worse than Hester...Although with how goofy this season is going, I wouldn't be surprised if Hester runs one back against the Squeelers and saves his job.
  20. Well, kinda depends on how we do in the division, and how the Squeelers and Bungles play out the rest of the season. A 9-7 record might be good enough to get the AFC North title, but I think we would need to win 4 out of the 5 remaining games in our division. Really tall order with the way we're playing right now, but probably the only realistic way to make the playoffs. Like the article says, there's no really dominant team this year, so anything is still possible. But the Raven's better get their act together really quick. Not an entirely probable outcome, but still possible.
  21. Smith is one of the better CB's out there. If you don't believe me, look at his numbers, they don't lie. Not to mention that he was instrumental during our super bowl run. And you must not have read my post below, getting three 1st ballot hall of famers in such a short period of time is nearly miraculous. Not to mention that we had some pretty bad seasons when they were here anyways...but people seem to forget those years...
  22. Umm no, because there was no continuity and success of the run game. He's not playing because he's not healthy enough to play yet. Hmmm, and here I was convinced it was some kind of dark, evil plan that the Raven's front office and coaching staff were engaged in for some unknown purpose...
