  1. Glad Ozzie make the picks and not you! so your happy with the bums that he picks I'm not can't wait for ozzie to be fired Most of us are pretty happy with the guys Ozzie picks. We've had some great seasons. And really good guys... I mean afterall, Ozzie did pick Ogden, Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, among many others like Chris McAlister, and got guys like Shannon Sharpe, Derrick Mason, Todd Heap... and the list goes on and on.... SMH... I'm just amazed at how people live their lives completely ticked off about everything and everybody now a days. just like he drafted Kyle Boller,Mark Clayton,Chris Chester,Michael Oher,Sergio Kindle,Terrence Cody,Ed Dickson,Bernard Pierce,Matt Elam,Arthur Brown,DeRon Jenkins,Jay Graham,Patrick Johnson,Travis Taylor,Chris Redman,Musa Smith,Dwan Edwards,Denard Darling,Dan Cody,Adam Terry,David Pittman,Yamon Figurs,Tavares Gooden,Tom Zbikowski,Jah Reid and Terrence Brooks just to name a few yes he's picked some good guy but his hit to miss was 1-3 now he's like 1-5 an he's getting old this is a business first and foremost we have cut ties with lots of loved players an staff over the years an I think his time has come to walk away along with the so-called head coach John and his band of fools dean and marty so to me I don't know how some fans can see a problem for a period of time and still not want to fix it Well, I;m impressed with your memory anyhow....but really, every GM has drafted guys who for one reason or another just don't pan out. Where's your list of players that Oz has drafted that have went on to have great careers? Certainly as long as the list of players you've named above. And as for "fixing" the Raven's problems by firing everybody, try asking the Cleveland Brownies about how that works...
  2. I guess I'm not opposed to it, but I will point out that there are some decent backup QBs in this league, and a lot of them were 1st, 2nd or even 3rd round picks, or veterans that have been around for awhile. I think its a bit presumptuous to draft a 4th rounder and just assume he's capable of being a backup QB right away. There's teams drafting 1st and 2nd rounders who can't even make the active roster on gameday on teams with far worse QB situations. That tells you how bad a lot of the QBs coming out of the draft are these days. Frankly, if we used a 4th rounder on a QB, I'd suspect he'd spend a year or two as the 3rd QB (basically a PS player), meaning he's pretty useless. No way am I taking a 4th rounder and making him the backup in year 1. Plus, as I said earlier, I'm not really interested in spending a 4th rounder on a guy that, ideally, will never play a snap for you. 6th or 7th rounder, sure, because those guys rarely plays snaps for us anyway. But we get starters and quality players out of 4th round picks all the time. I'd rather just sign a veteran backup if that's the route we are going. I'd trust Mallett over a 4th rounder, and retaining Mallett won't be that difficult. Well, good argument. I would say that if the QB is there, you take him. The original poster I was responding to suggested drafting Kiser, who does look to be a raw, but decent prospect. I don't know if I'd trust him as our back up QB, or use A 4th rounder on him (hard to tell just looking at game footage, you'd need to do an overall scouting report & have coaches personally meet him, as with any potential QB if your smart), however I DO think that drafting A rookie QB that the team is willing to develop would be A good idea. And I wouldn't consider an upper mid round pick being excesive if you think the guy can eventually be a quality player. Unsure about retaining Mallet...A lot of teams looking for QB help. Not that he will get crazy money, but is he worth what is the market value? He is capable, but if the Raven's see someone worth drafting, I could see them going the inexperienced rookie QB route.
  3. How about you take a pay cut and free up some salary for your company?!?!?!?! He's not an 8-8 QB, THE TEAM IS 8-8. The TEXANS gave Osweiler $72 million for 4 years - what's that terd done? How many post season games has he won? Matt Ryan's contract was $104 million for 5 years - He's got 1 post season win and he's had 2 pro-bowl receivers his entire career in Roddy White, Julio Jones and had FHOF Tony Gonzalez. Ya'll act like other teams aren't paying premium contracts for top tier QB's. Maybe we should be like the Browns and just get garbage QB's and hope to win every week. How many 4th qrtr leads did the defense give up this season? Nobody is talking about any of those players taking a cut. Hell Webb's hit was $9. million - did we get $9 million worth of performance out of him this year? Think he had 1 pick right? Dumervil was $7 million hit - he started 3 games had 3 sacks. Elam's was $2 million and he managed 4 tackles!!! Wright's hit was $2 million - shiiii give me a uniform, 2 million dollars and I'll run around and let people beat me all day long!!! Powers' hit was $1.7 million - are you kidding me!?!?!? He doesn't even deserve to be paid!! Hit the nail on the head! Righteous post!
  4. Per the Sunpapers... cap hit of 24.55 M in '17, 24.75 M in '18, 26.5 M in '19. Check your facts please. rmcjacker23 is going off base salary. He doesn't understand that fFacco has huge signing bonuses lol. He can drop his $6M to $1M this year and still make a ton of money. Yeah, you'd give up five million... Come on, man! Live in reality...
  5. Sort of defeats the purpose of the drafted QB though. For starters, I would like to see how many quality starting QBs there are in the league that sat behind somebody for literally like 3-5 years and "developed" into a good player. Aaron Rodgers is about the only example I see of this, and he sat 3 years... and that was over a decade ago. The entire benefit of rookie QBs playing well is that you get them for cheap. My original post was that we simply need to look for a decent back up QB...Flacco is certainly a pretty durable QB, but he has had a major injury. I wouldn't consider a 4th rounder, or as I said the comp pick for KO, A wasted pick to obtain A decent quality back up QB. Mallet, in my opinion, is not the answer. And I suspect that there will be teams willing to over pay him. Hopefully not the Raven's.
  6. A super bowl championship. It's that simple. Joe got paid for winning the big one, like it or not (And what real Raven fan would take a good statistical QB over a SB ring?). Pretty good on his part for waiting out and getting SB MVP=extra big pay day. I'm not questioning the decision to pay him. It had to be done. That's the market. Yes, Joe was smart for betting on himself. But post-super bowl, we have NOTHING to show for it. It's THAT simple. And who said anything about stats? I sure didn't. But since you brought it up, Joe's "stats" have sucked, and so has his record, since the SB. Come on, you know that stat's were implied, or you wouldn't have brought them up...I'll take a QB who can win the big game over a fantasy stud ten times out of ten. It's that simple. Nothing to show? Well, personally I love to watch football, so as long as the Raven's are putting out a competitive team I'm all in. Yeah, the last two seasons have been disappointing. No denial there. But in the long haul, we've had great football. And I'm confidant we will have continued good fortune. Drinking the purple Kool-Aid? Yeah, to A degree. I certainly don't agree with everything that the FO & coaching staff do, nor deny that some players under perform. But to say that "well, Joe sucks" is A cop out, and ignoring the past. Flacco still has some good football in him...Just keep the faith.
  7. So...Newton, Stafford and Ryan: no championships. Rodgers & Wilson have same number of rings as Flacco. Give Big Ben his due, and Brady is being considered as one of the best QB's that has ever played in the NFL... Can't carry A team? Did you even watch our Super Bowl year? 11 TD's with NO INT? Come on, man...
  8. Depends on where he falls...I'd like to see us take a QB in the general area of the 4th round, or maybe the comp pick we get for KO...not saying we need to get rid of Joe, but grooming a backup QB has no negative that I can see. Mallet is not the answer, and will more than likely will be paid well over what he's worth by some other team. i agree that some other team will offer more for mallett. we should draft a qb to possibly groom but wonder if we could live with lets say a ryan fitzpatrick if he is cheap enough. No.
  9. Flacco is due to make just $6M next season. So you want him to restructure for less than that? Excellent point.
  10. I think with all the injuries we've had over the last two seasons that getting rid of the strength and conditioning coach was A good move. Pretty obvious that he was not getting the job done.
  11. I'll say it again: If the Raven's retain K. Lewis, this franchise is doomed. He has to have incriminating photos of someone, cause the dude looks awful on the field. So sad that he hasn't played like I thought he could.

  14. I agree with you except for Guy. He's a decent enough utility man and won't cost a lot of cash, so I could easily see him back. Definately agree with Webbie needing to restructure his deal, and could possibly see the Raven's even cutting ties completely. Wright will be interesting though, other than the first game where he looked like gang busters, he played WELL below his potential. Seeing how we just signed him to a new contract, interesting if the Raven's will retain him. If they bring back K. Lewis I may have to consider the Raven's front office totally hopeless and doomed to failure.
  15. The only person Harbs needs to answer to is Steve Biscotti. No one else. So I don't expect him to dis anyone publicly, except if he's honest maybe himself for not having players fully motivated and losing to many close games that we could have won. Publicly blaming players and assistant coaches for the teams shortcomings would not only be unprofessional, but come across as cheap and petty. Which despite some other flaws, Harbs is not. Now, behind closed doors, I think the Ravens fully realize that there needs to be some accountability and more than a few underachiving players and staff are going to be looking for new homes. But don't expect public shaming for the fan's benefit.
  16. Ed Reed didn't finish his career in Baltimore...So be careful of your analogies. For that matter, the great Johnny U. didn't end his career with the Colt's either...Yet when you think of those two, Baltimore pops up automatically. It's a matter of perspective. That was basically Ed Reed's choice; not the organizations. They didn't cut him. No, but they also didn't exactly bend over backwards to retain him either. He wasn't guaranteed a starting position, nor offered what he considered good money. All I'm pointing out is that players don't always end their careers with the teams they started with. In fact, you could go on and on with all the hall of famers who finished out their careers somewhere other than the team you most associate them with. If SSS wants to retire a Raven, I'd be more than happy, but realisticaly he will be remembered more as a Panther, at least everywhere besides Baltimore.

  18. My gut feeling is SSS retires a Panther. They are the team that drafted him, that he spent the most time with, and put up most of his #'s with...The guy has played great as a Raven, but my guess is that in the long haul, he'll go back to where he started. I am just happy that he decided to wear the purple and black, and that he showed such outstanding dedication to not only playing as hard as he could, but brought a great sense of leadership to the locker room...He will definately be missed.
  19. I thought the same. Orr is having a terrific year and is pro bowl worthy, but he's still relatively unknown outside of Baltimore. If he continues this pace, people will begin to notice him.
  20. Did you happen to see the verbal exchange on the NFL channel with Ray Lewis and they were announcing the QB’s? Even other NFL players were making fun of "Ray's Guy" Joe. Joe better pay attention or history will show he was just lucky and his contract was unwarranted. Quick...Pick one. A QB who puts up numbers and wins NOTHING (Example-Rivers and Ryan) or a QB who is good and has the ability to lead his team to playoff wins and a SB Victory. If Joe ever wants to get past the first playoff round again ever again he is going to have to play better. He also can't let OC's make dumb calls and just go with it. Joe still has time but does he really want to end up rated around with Jeff Hostetler and Trent Dilfer.? http://www.sportsonearth.com/article/162272534/ranking-all-57-super-bowl-starting-quarerbacks. Pretty sure Marino, Tarkenton, Fouts, etc. would take lower career statistics for a championship ring. I'm sure they would but those three guys also made it in the Hall of Fame. But as a fan, would you rather have a QB who makes the hall of fame but does not win the big game or a QB who does not put up great regular season numbers but has helped win your team a championship? I know my choice...
  21. Yeah, Hines Ward is easily the worst Squeeler...Porter should be second. He was a dirty player who would intentionally try to hurt our players. Polamalu beat us a lot, but I had some respect for him because he just played hard against us. Ward and Porter were simply nasty dudes who hated the Ravens. No respect or love for either of them.
  22. When did Juice, Yanda and Mosley become kickers and/or punters? And yet once again, someone complaining about the Raven's having great special teams. Go figure.
  23. Congrats to our pro bowlers! They certainly deserve the accolades.
