  1. This actually sounds like a great idea...the problem is that someone will want to politicize it and make some sort of agenda beyond what Biscotti is saying. But I wish it well, especially if it could maybe help prevent another tragedy like in Mr. Walkers case. Sometimes these young guys just need to talk to someone, and the Raven's staff are a good and caring group of people.
  2. Also, don't forget about Waller, who they want to try out at TE.And technically, Pitta is still on the roster. I think unless someone ends up on IR Boyle would go to the practice squad and if another team wanted to take a gamble, the Raven's would cut their losses. I know Harbaugh seemed pretty mad about Boyle's suspension...
  3. Hargreaves seems to be a reoccurring name...
  4. I'm still betting on one of the top defensive guys being there at #6: Ramsey, Bosa, Buckner, and Jacks. Anyone of them would be fine by me, although for all I know the FO may have someone else in mind. As always, it's A crap-shoot predicting drafts, but i'd guess one of the four above to be a Raven and would'nt be disappointed.
  5. Really don't see either of these guys starting at LT for us...and we definately wont be trading for either one! My guess would be picking someone up in the draft and letting them back up Monroe, who when healthy is a decent LT. As for the 2012 draft, while it won't go down as our greatest, it did produce immediate returns, and don't forget Tucker should be included as being part of 2012. Happy "birthday" to the Raven's organization, and beloved memories to Mr. Modell for making it possible, and healing my heart after losing our Colt's,
  6. Lets not forget the Raven's also drafted Pitta, mosley, J. smith, Wagner & B. williams, not to mention those who've left via FO (KO standing out this year) during that same time. All teams are going to have their hits and misses. And I agree that Perriman should be given the benefit of the doubt. Lets see what he can do healthy before we put the "bust" tag on him.
  7. I don't see how the advance of technology will ever prevent teams from drafting "bust" players. There will always be college players who look absolutely great but can't play up to NFL standards. Injuries, complex playbooks, and just the fact that the speed of the NFL is so much greater are only a few stumbling blocks that no matter how tech you can get, there will always be a human factor, and always be players who however great on paper can't cut it in the NFL. I also have to disagree with the need of "a run on QBs"...Only one taken before us would get us one of the premeire defensive players most people expect us to take, and with both the Browns and jerry Jones picking ahead of us who knows what either of them could do.
  8. I kinda would'nt put Testaverde on that list...1, he came over when we got the Browns franchise, which could'nt have been easy...2, he actually had a very productive year with us,including a pro bowl apperance if I remember right. WE were just such a bad team that no one could have done much. Not saying he was great, but alot better than the other guys you lumped him with.
  9. rmcjacket23 puttin' down the HAMMER OF TRUTH yet once again! Gotta agree with him...Its pretty obvious that the league is no fan of Baltimore, but they are even more passionate about docking the Patriots whenever they get the chance.
  10. Weddle and Webb as a safety tandem sounds good, so long as Webb can stay healthy. AS for Upshaw, I think the Raven's wouldn't mind bringing him back but not at the price he's expecting. But he's good enough,so I suspect someone will sign him soon, and probably more than the Raven's have offered.
  11. Keep in mind that the Eagles also signed a backup for $7M a year, a hefty price tag. Chase Daniels has long been a favorite of new Eagles coach Doug Pederson. I don't think Philly goes QB early in this draft. SF maybe, Rams certainly an option. Yeah, I forgot about Daniels, sorry. rmcjacket23 sets us straight again!
  12. While I'm not into the Flacco bashing, I don't think winning a SB buys you a lifetime exemption from criticism. He deserves his fair share, particularly in the last three years, but that doesn't mean I want to see him gone. Quite the opposite actually. I'm not saying he SHOULD be immune from criticism, just that ALOT of so called Raven's fans (and plenty of haters) give the man more grief than he deserves. Yeah, winning a super bowl dosn't mean he gets a free pass on everything; his regular season stats are not that great; but he is consistent in the playoffs and has proven he can win in the spotlight. I just don't like that there are so many skip Bayless types out there-ready to bemoan everything he does-and alot of them claim to be Raven's supporters.
  13. Ha-Ha-Ha!!! just made my hearty laugh for the day! Thanks Mom Gene!!!
  14. Yes, but there's a definite difference between needing a replacement down the line and not having a starting level QB now. The teams you mention all have legit starting QB's for the next season. The Ram's have case Keenum as their starter, and the Eagle's sam Badford...Not exactly legit in my reality. Niner's have Kapernick, who dosn't want to be there.(even suggesting going to Cleveland tells you how bad he want's out!) The Jet's and the Bronco's should also be mentioned as needing QB, but they don't have anything to give us for a trade to #6.
  15. And yet once again, let the Flacco bashing begin...The man only won a superbowl for us...Any Raven's fans who still want to harp on Flacco(and there's still a boatload of 'em) please go root for Cleveland and see what happens to a franchise that can't draft a QB.
  16. Eagle's are like the Brown's and Cowboy's...no one knows what kind of craziness they could pull...Ram's could be desperate enough, and they have a fairly high pick...Jet's and Bronco's also need QB, but they're way down in the draft so don't see B-more trading with them, especially since their pretty decent teams and any future picks probably wouldn't be that high.
  17. West, Allen, and Taliaferro are all pretty much the same guy, and none of them is a real alpha dog. Forsett's getting old, he wont be here long. and we could use some speed, or at least some down hill power. we dont have anybody that excels at either one of those really. Agree, but only if we end up trading back a few spots...I'm not convinced Elliott is worth a #6, especially if there's a top defender still on the board.
  18. I'm still betting one of those defensive picks are around at #6. Don't forget the Brownies & jerry Jones pick ahead of us, so who knows what either will do, but one if not both will do something unpredictable and probably foolish.
  19. Forrset-aging vetran, injured last year/Buck-shown some flashes but inconsistent/Taliaferro-injury prone more short yardage& goaline back/West-shown flashes but has also bounced around teams. While I don't think Raven's would take Elliott with #6, if we drop back in 1st round it would'nt be incomprehensible to take him later. As I said earlier, I think he's 1st round material. Is it a pressing need? No. But you have to admit, the guy looks to be a bruiser.
  20. first off, anyone who still thinks Tunsil will be around by the 6th pick is delusional. That said, I still think we stay at #6 and draft defense. Elliott may be a good running back, but I don't see him as a game changer, and while he's worthy of a 1st round pick I don't see him as a top ten. Maybe if we trade back you could justify it. Stanley could be a pick for us, but he's not total blue-chip as there are some questions about his health and skill sets at being an 'elite' LT in the NFL.Also, I go along with that the Raven's do like Monroe. He's a good player when healthy. I do see us addressing our o-line in this draft, but probably not in the 1st round. On the defensive side, there's Bosa, Buckner, Ramsey and Jacks, anyone of which I think the Raven's would take. Given that Tunsil is off the board, and my guess is Goff will also be gone (likely to Cleveland, or someone will get desperate and trade up for him) one of these guys will still be there. If not, my guess is look to trade back unless there is someone the Raven's really love, and is keeping it under their hat.
  21. I doubt we'll move from 6th. Although the Ravens have been known to move back for extra picks, it's been a long time since we've been this high in the draft, and i'm not expecting us to be this high again for awhile.(yeah, i'm thinking last year was a one year drop-off, not a steady decline.) I really don't see anyone jumping up to grab the 6th spot, unless it's someone only a few picks behind us, and if the deal is right I could see that. The only really big move would be if Goff was still there(which I doubt.)and one of those teams desperate for a starting QB threw some crazy deal with a boatload of picks, both this year and next, into the mix. But i'll have to see that to believe it.
  22. Well, I am glad they made the line of scrimmage the 15 on extra point tries permanent. That was one change I liked last year...course, with all the missed extra points its harder to call exact scores, but I say make them kickers work!
  23. it is highly unlikely that we take another TE in this draft. This class is really weak and over the last two years we have drafted three tight ends. We have already dedicated enough recourses on that position. Our FO will take "best player available." Watson-older veteran, Gillmore-coming off injury, Williams-unproven 1st year/hoping he will be better, Waller-never played TE/project, Boyle-2nd substance abuse suspension, Pitta-possible career ending injury. I'm not saying our TE position is horrible, but it's not set in stone either. If there's A player out there on draft day that will help us, you take him. Joe Flacco likes his TE dump-offs, so this is always going to be A need position. If Gillmore is re-injured and Williams can't cut it, we're left only with Watson. Raven's run ALOT of 2 TE sets.
  24. O.K. they've got Watson, Gillmore, Williams(who I think is going to break out this year), and Waller as A "project"......and then the Raven's could also take another TE in the draft(remember, best player available is Ozzie's motto!). So, it's goodbye Pitta(thanks for the memories...), and Boyle out the door, probably won't cut him before his suspension is up just in case of injuries, but dude's on some mighty thin ice. JUST SAY NO NICK!!! It's A shame, he seemed like he had A good NFL future. Was he hanging out with Hill? Another good player, can't say NO!
