  1. Yeah, didn't think that Turner would make it on the active roster so soon after signing...this also leads me to believe that at least one or two of our guestionable guys on O-line will be playing tomorrow, seeing how Turner won't be needed as an emergency back-up if we had listed all three questionables on our O-line as inactive. Nice to see Onwuasor get a chance to play, hopefully he can add some needed pop on special teams. Dude has a really high motor, as long as he doesn't get to caught up in the thrill of the game and make any stupid penalties.
  2. Why does it look so dismal? Last I saw we have one of the top defense's in the league. What team out there is so dominant? Squeelers? Pats? Broncs? I've seen them all have bad loses to supposedly weaker teams this year, so I'm not buying into how horrible the Raven's chances are, which is mainly being put out there by "media experts" who have always disliked the Ravens, and always will. Glad we're underdogs with so many lame fans who cry doom & gloom every time anything goes wrong! Give this team no respect, that's always been the best case for us winning games "that we have no right to win"...
  3. Has there been any Will Davis sightings recently? He's like Bigfoot - you hear his name, but no one has been able to get proof that he's actually on the team...
  4. And I want to give a shout out to Zach Orr, he's been having a very nice season so far. No problem with him getting the headset, he's earned the right to wear them. A lot of people were wondering who would take over the ILB job in camp, and he has really has stepped up his game. Nice job!
  5. Truth!!! Always better as the underdog, which we will probably be most of the season...
  6. .you forgot to add in the two wins against the Squeelers that you know we'll win, Mr. yellow and black...
  7. Um, did you ever think that Carter might have been one of the problems on special teams? I'm not sure if cutting him weakens our ST, considering he was pretty much on the field for all the ST miscues...not to mention that we have Waller, a very good ST player, back on the roster, so he's easily replaced.
  8. Um, little thing called the salary cap kinda gets in the way of your plans...that and the fact that football is not like baseball, there is very little movement involving trades. In fact, with the exception of during the draft, almost no teams trade players. And if you do trade, you're talking about giving up relatively cheap draft picks for expensive veterans...leading back to the salary cap. I can't argue with you about the Raven's recent draft woes...but to say we are in a rebuilding mode is nonsense. There are a lot of talented players on this team. It's getting them to play to the best of their ability that needs more work, and probably the main reason Trestman was fired (I never liked that the Raven's hired him, honestly. I figured it was more a FO move than a Harb's decision, possibly why the two seemed to lack chemistry). Although you make some interesting (and valid) points, building a team through trades never has been or will be an option in the NFL. Likewise, any team that tries to build through agressive free agency always runs into the salary cap wall, and crashes and burns usually leaving them in a worse situation then when they started. Like it or not, the only true way to build and keep a consistently competitive team is through good drafting and very liberable free agent spending. Not only do the Raven's follow this path, but teams like the Pats, Squeelers, Packers, Seahawks, ect. follow this plan. Another words, the teams that are consistently in the play-offs and win championships. Unfortunately, the Raven's last few drafts have not been up to par, which is leaving us slightly more vulnerable than is usually comfortable, and why we were more involved in the free agent market than normal. This year's draft seems to be leaning towards a better class, so I don't forsee us changing our policy any time soon. You say the Ravens are not in rebuilding mode. Is that you Harbs? The Ravens have little depth, as they are now dumpster diving just to have bodies. Many of the so called stars on this team are older. And as for the draft; what recent Ravens draftees do fans come out to see? Yes, they are in rebuilding mode and are not nearly done. If this team doesn't turn things around, more coaching changes are likely and more new faces will be on the squad next year. Any team looking for help this time of year is dumpster diving...I agree that the O-line was fundamentally weak with little in the way of quality back ups ready to come in and take over starting positions. Hurst was terrible last year, and I didn't forsee him even making the team out of training camp. Jensen had played O.K. in the past, but seems to have regressed. Urschel seemed more of a back up to Zuttah then a substitute guard. If Ducasse was really good, he would have made the team out of training camp. And when you add in that we were starting two rookies, yeah, the Ravens should have bolstered their line better before the season started. Now where else (other than safety, which is another discussion entirely) are we lacking quality depth? I think we're shored up fairly well at all the other positions. I still think the Raven's can match up with any team in the league, there are NO teams out there that I would say are playing great football right now. Just look at the records. To say that the Ravens will automatically lose to any team left on their schedule is just being pessimistic. NE, Squeelers, Bungles...none of them are really dominating the league and despite the Ravens issues, our defense can hang in there against anybody. If we can cure our offensive woes, we can make some noise. I know that's a big if right now, but I'm not giving up until they prove one way or another that they can't play with the so called big boys.

  10. Stop gap measure. Two out of the three injured lineman may be a week or two out, with one perhaps longer. These two signings aren't going be here long, or two of our existing lineman are headed to the IR soon, or getting their papers. I am in the camp of temporary signing of these two. I'm surprised Hurst is still here. I don't see how the Raven's could even send him out on the field again. Jensen hasn't really looked much better. I think that the Raven's are hoping one of these guys they've brought in can actually play football in the NFL...
  11. I hope that Mornhinweg can help find our "invisible man", Kamar Aiken. He had a decent season last year, and I was hoping he could use it as a launchpad to better things this year, but instead seems to have dropped entirely off the radar. Not sure how many snaps he has played, but I know he hasn't been targeted very much. Curious wether it is more Trestman under utilizing him, Joe not looking for him or if he simply can't break out of coverage. Wondering if the Jets actually like Butler, or just want to pick his brain for info on the Raven's... And I agree with the Bleacher Report: What is going on with our special teams? Harb's has got to be pulling his hair out. Our traditional strength under Harb's reign looks like a disaster, and unfortunately it's not just one player, but guys all across the board seem to have forgotten how to play special teams.
  12. I like the pun, and think you have an excellent point. I am by no means ready to give up on Perriman, I think the kid still has a decent chance of being a nice player, but as you say, he seems more of a deep speed WR, not so great on precision routes or touch plays in the end zone. I agree that Moore may be better equipped to handle slants and fades and pretty much any route where hands are as important as speed. Worth giving him a chance, in any case.
  13. Agree but even at it's basic the OL failed. Ok, we didn't have our starters but everyone knows it's next man up, if that's our OL with that philosophy then we are screwed. If the OL doesn't play better then forget about the O getting better. It all starts with the protection. This is typical in the NFL. It's highly uncommon to have starter potential sitting on your bench. They will be somewhere else starting for another team getting paid good money. That's the nature of the game. Thank you, voice of reason...This is true of all 32 teams, you may get lucky and have a few really great back-ups, but on the whole the true talent is starting for somebody...
  14. wow, not giving our defense any credit are you? Seems like they can keep us pretty much in any game, and if the offense can somehow get going, we will still be a better than average team. Look around the league, I really don't see any team out there who is really scary-dominant, I see a whole lot of teams floating along at basically .500. Yeah, you can claim Vikes, Pats, Squealers...none of them seem unbeatable from where i'm standing. Good, but not crushingly great like you usually see a few teams by this time of year. Sounds like you had absolutely no faith in this team before the season even began. I don't see what indication that the Raven's would end up with a losing record, other than pure spite and/or mis-judging the talent level the Raven's possess. Which we do have some very talented players, they simply need to play better than they have so far this season. 6-10? Really? There's plenty to be optimistic about this team, thankfully most Raven's fan's have a more positive opinion and base said opinion in reality and not on doom and gloom fantasies. Haters gonna hate.
  15. Nobody cares what fans are screaming for. Fans scream for players to be benched after one bad play. As Bill Parcells said, if you start listening to fans, you'll be sitting with the fans. Fans don't determine who gets fired and who doesn't. They are fodder. They don't have that kind of power. Thank you, well said. I especially like the Parcell's quote.
  16. I was in Wilmington,DE two weeks ago when the Eagles beat the snot out of the Squealers, and trust me that people on both sides were screaming their hearts out...it was chaotic, people hollering and cheering up and down the streets... Just because team's only play each other every four years doesn't mean it's not a rivalry, it's probably more intense because whoever wins gets bragging rights for four years...I have guys at work who still remind me that the skin's beat us last time we played, AND that even though we won the Superbowl that year, the Skin's were better cause they beat us in the regular season. Think I don't want a little revenge for that? No, it will never be a rivalry like Squealers, Bungles or Pats, but it's still pretty fun to want to smack the stuffing out of them!
  17. Ah.alway's refreshing to come on this site and see all the trolls at play.. So the Raven's are being precautionary about playing Stanley...smart move. We're still in the easier portion of our schedule, get him nice and healthy for when teams actually get tough. Skin's are by no means dog-meat, but the Raven's are obviously the better team. I'm hoping that Lewis does get the start, I like what he brings to the table. And i've got no confidence in Hurst, who seems to have forgotten how to play at the NFL level. I'm not laying all my hopes on Dixon being superman, but I think he could bring a nice spark to the running game and push everyone around him to perform better. I'm thinking this is a bounce back game for us, something we couldn't do last year, but can accomplish this year. Go ravens!
  18. The Flacco vs Cousins tag in this article is plain ludicrous, sorry Sarah, you can do better than that... I don't see where it could hurt putting Lewis in at LT, because Hurst just looks plain bad out there. I was willing to give Hurst the benefit of the doubt last week, but he nearly got Flacco killed yet once again. Dude looks like he's lost all ability to play in the league, so at this point I think the Raven's need to try something different, I don't think Lewis could be that worse than Hurst in any case...
  19. Ho-Ho-Ho...you hit that right on the nose...and yet there's a lot of people out there who feel sorry for the millionaire... Ho-ho_ho I feel for him. It's not always about money. Some players just love the game. I think Justin is one of those. Oh, i'm sure that Forsett loves the game and as i've said, he's a classy guy and I wish him the best...That being said, I really don't feel sorry for someone who is walking out the door with THREE MILLION guaranteed money in the bank, with the opportunity to make more on top of that if any other team picks him up. the point in the article is that he's still got a sense of humor after being released, which yeah, I could still laugh a lot with THREE MIL. in my pocket...
  20. This organization knows Defense first and foremost. They also know Special Teams. Offense is really a guessing game like shooting into the dark. The Ravens need to get better at assessing offensive players and coaches. this is the main reason their offenses only really ever peak as much as they do. Still going throw this out there because each week that goes by I keep getting reminded of what could have been. Second round draft pick should have been WR Sterling Shepard. He is a great slot receiver that can create enough separation to make tough catches. He also could have been a return man for punt and most likely kickoffs. He had much more upside than trying to convert Reynolds from QB to WR/return man. He also has a much more sturdy frame than Campanaro. They even could have still traded back the first time and gotten him. KC has shown very little from a second round pick in comparison. I don't even put that all on him though, since they brought him in to play a new position. Yes this is just one move that could have had many positive gains on this team. It would have let them move on from Campanaro and use the Reynolds pick on another position of need that might contribute in a bigger manner, say CB/S or O-line. They would had no reason to go and sign a aging return man who is now dealing with injury and had some issues with the muffs. For the record, I was promoting the Ravens draft Sterling Shepard since before the drat happened. Yet every team passed on him in the first round, and well over half of them in the second...maybe you should take up being a NFL general manager. As for that, every team in the league passed on Tom Brady at least five times, so i'm guessing that pretty much ALL the GM's should be immediately fired for failing to perceive his greatness... And seeing how it's only four games into their career, i'll wait to pass judgement on either Shepard or Correa until we have a better sampling size...
  21. While I agree that Trestman has been hurting this offense but the Vikings and the Dolphins are both averaging less yards a game then the Ravens and Vikings are only averaging one more point a game then the Ravens. Sure that one point would have helped last week but its not like either one of these teams have great offenses. Well I have some good news, according to NFL.com those ranks in that article are completely wrong. The Ravens have number 1 ranked defense and the 19th ranked offense. And in all honesty a big game ore two could easily put them in top 15, or higher. When it comes to the offense Trestman is definitely problem number one, but dropped passes and penalties are arguably 2 and 3 on that list. Then you have the offensive line struggling in both pass blocking and run blocking. Even with that said, I think its a little early to say "another year of disappointment looms for this offense" Like one expert was saying, with limited offseason practices the first four games of the season are like preseason games. Teams are still figuring around what they are good at and when needs to be fixed, There is still time to turn things around. Last season the Ravens were able to fix their pass defense and late into the 2012 season a change in OCs helped the Ravens win the Super Bowl. But they need to fix things now because their schedule is about to get a lot tougher. The lack of a sense of urgency from the coaches is what worries me. Since when is a coach okay with a close loss in a must win game situation. Must win because last week was a very winnable game and especially because the schedule only gets tougher here on out. I get you gotta keep your head on straight and not sink when you lose, but it really seemed like no one was concerned with the lack of execution throughout mostly the first 3 quarters. 1: Last week was in no way, shape or form a "must win"...just another game on the schedule, always great to win it, but a loss to a good team should be no reason to cry doom... 2: Let's see, Skin's, Jet's and Jint's next three weeks...not exactually the toughest three team's in the NFL, and in my opinion the Raven's are superior to all three, irreguardless of two of them being on the road. So no, not the toughest part of our schedule... 3: Where are you getting your information that there is no concern or sense of urgency from the coaching staff? Seemed to me that Harb's was pretty hot about all the stupid penalties we racked up last sunday. And I am sure that the lack of execution that Hurst and Jensen showed on the left side of our line was not only noticed, but will be addressed. I really didn't get the sense that Sunday's loss was "O.K." with the staff, I got the feeling that Harb's knows that we need to improve as a football team...
  22. What's so bad about our defense? Come on man, we're top five in the league! There was a lot of pressure on Pees during the off season, but he's probably the coach with the least amount of pressure on the team...are you sure you're not watching DVR'ed games from last season instead of this year's games? Sure, the secondary could always use more work, but they're not all that bad (we're among the leaders in fewest points allowed) and true the pass rush needs to be more focused, but it's night and day compared to last year...Sorry, but no team is going to be "perfect" in all phases, but I think it's head scratching to berate a defense that's been keeping us in all our games...
  23. Ho-Ho-Ho...you hit that right on the nose...and yet there's a lot of people out there who feel sorry for the millionaire...
  24. Sorry to hear about Canady, hope he fully recovers and can contribute next year. At least he got some experience this year, and hopefully will be fully prepared for his sophmore season... Guessing that Huff will come in to push K. Lewis, who has looked absolutely horrendous since we signed him. I'd like to see a tackle brought in to challenge Hurst also. Not that I want change for changes sake, however; any player brought in this time of the season is suspect as to why they are available in the first place, and they need to prove that they can come in and contribute, not just be another guy taking up roster space that plays no better than the player they're replacing.
  25. Well it doesn't benefit the team or fans to keep sending him out there when he's not producing and others around him are clearly better. So beyond that, who really cares if its "mutual" or not? The only "raw deal" he got was that he didn't play well enough to be better than his peers. 100% on him and nobody else. I care. He is a human being after all and does have feelings. I know this is a business but you need not be so harsh. Hopefully something like this does not happen to you or yours. While I understand, and even admire your compassion, this is a game. Not just any occupation, but a game where winning is everything and losing can cost a whole lot of people (players, coaches, front office ect...) their jobs. I don't care if someone is the nicest, classiest guy in the world, if he can't produce he's gotta go. Not that I would want to see the team hiring dirt bags either. But if you want to keep a player because their "nice", and you don't want to hurt people's feelings, then you will be out of a job quicker than anything, and probably a whole lotta "nice" people are going out the door with you. So what you may see as "harsh" is actually just sacrificing one person to save a lot of other jobs...Kinda like natural selection out in the wild, it may seem hard but there's a reason it happens.
