Was wondering why Hill & Means haven't signed their contracts yet. Haven't heard any news on either. Hope they are not hold out situations.

The question is not Housler vs. Pitta, it unfortunately is Housler vs. any TE in this draft class, and this is a very, very weak class.  He's proven to be able to at least do something in this league and to be fair really hasn't had much to work with at the QB position e.g. Kolb, Skelton, what was left of Carson Palmer.

 

To put it in perspective, these are the TOTAL passing TDs the Cardinals scored by year:

 

2011 - 21

2012 - 11

2013 - 24

2014 - 21

 

Not really a great passing team altogether, so I'd expect all of their receiving numbers to be down, and I assume on a team like that the red zone targets were going to either Fitz or Floyd 95 percent of the time anyway.

I didn't even consider the QB's or other targets. So with that in mind, he may be just what we need. I would feel better about him if he had scored more often, but that's just me. You've made good points to think about. Thanks!

No doubt, but at what price? If he was willing to a reasonable deal he would have accepted Ozzie's offer already or signed with the Bengals Thurs. if they out bid us, considering he's had little interest. Since there's been no news, I assume he's holding out for more money.

I like Crockett as well, he did catch what was thrown to him and he's a nasty player. I think he can break out. This draft class of TE isn't impressive, so I would understand if we pass, if Pitta doesn't return, getting Housler would be ideal.

I don't know if I'm totally sold on Housler. Although he is athletic and put up comparable stats to Pitta in receptions & catches to target %, before Arians arrived, where he lacks is in TD's scored only having 1 in four seasons.

He has to prove that he can score in the red zone if expects any sizable contract from us or anyone else.

I was just reading about this on RSR. Congrats to the new couple.

All the players being discussed here are all UFA's except Jennings. I don't see Ozzie doing anything at this point that would affect their comp picks for next year. I think he now waits until after the draft to make any further signings unless someone is released that they have interest in. jmo.

Should've taken draft picks and lowered his cap for 3 seasons to 110mil. That would've taught him a real lesson

Hate to say this on the Domestic Violence front , the penalties being pushed now are Dangerous .  I suggest any of our Male posters Read what is and is not Classified under VAWA as Domestic Violence you might be surprised and may even be appalled ,  This creates a Dangerous situation for any player in a Relationship or dating period .  Teams with no Ethics (looking at you Mr Billecheat) could use this to cause opposing teams star players to get suspended without doing anything wrong .
