  1. I can see the Ravens use Zuttah at LG if we can't keep KO and re-sign Yanda. That would give us Monroe | Zuttah | Urschel | Yanda | Wagner as or OL. Pretty good if you ask me. Zuttah could slide over and play center if anything happened to Urschel, too. That all hinges on Urschel actually being the center though. Zuttah has played LG in the past.

I feel that Zuttah having KO and Yanda as bookends really helps him look better. I also think KO helps Monroe out as well. jmo

  2. I realize we've got 20m dead money, but we've got a 20M QB that's only been producing cap hits of far less for the past three years. At some point, the loans come due, right?

A brand new contract.  Rip up the old one and create a new one

This^. CTFan - Why don't you try to PM "B-more Ravor". He is the resident contract & salary cap master. Brian will answer your questions.

  3. I enjoyed John Eisenberg's column about Flacco's contract, but I'm confused as to how much we can realistically lower his cap hit next year?

He's going to want more money per year on a new contract, and eventually we have to pay for the low cap numbers we've had from him for three years. The only thing that will help offset this is that the Team Cap Limit will increase a bit each year, but that alone doesn't seem to be enough and league wide salaries at other positions also increase each year.

Can someone provide a logical scenario as to how we do this?

We will start by gaining almost 20M in dead money relief after this season when Rice, Ngata and others come off the books. Then by paying a portion of it up front in bonus money that will be spread out evenly over the length of the contract.

  4. Jensen sucks

That's just so wrong! He's depth. Jensen may never amount to anything more than a career backup and may never see the field, but the team has seen enough talent in him to offer him a EFA contract this season. Even if he is just on the PS, he benefits the team by helping them to prepare week in and week out.

  5. That's a great point but i disagree. It's not the division we play in that spots us from winning that extra game or 2 to be a #1 or #2 seed. I think it's more of a deep rooted philosophical issue. I personally feel that as long as the Ravens take the great defense and the offense just has to be good enough mentality, we'll loss bad games. No way we should have lost to the Texans last year or the Bills a couple years ago and others. Now some could say that because this division beats each other up so much that we lay eggs in outta division games. But i think it's more about having a offense that is consistent imo. Those games that the offense just comes out dead kills us imo. I agree with what you say about the division being tough but i think the offense being a consistent threat will allow us to finally have the AFC run through the Bank.

    This! You are spot on.

  6. Would be nice, but the Ravens just aren't a finesse team. We are in a punch 'em in the mouth, grind it out division that will cause many of 9-7,10-6, and the occasional 11-5 seasons. To go 13-3 or better you need to be in a weak division. Until our smash mouth cultured division is over, which I dont see that happening for quit some time, we will be a 4,5,6 seed playoff team.

I agree that this is what history proves the Ravens to be. Out of 23 playoff appearances, we had only 5 at home for a 3-2 record. I don't agree that we need to be in a weak division to take a top seed, although good teams in weak divisions generally are higher ranked more often than not.. Every team in the NFL can be beat, we simply have to play better than our opponents to achieve this going forward.

  7. I'm still kind of disappointed that we haven't re-signed Jeromy Miles (yet?).  I thought he was very valuable for us as a ST ace and depth at S.  I think the depth at S is very questionable with Brooks likely to start on PUP.  Hill, Lewis, Elam, and…?  Trawick and Perry are the only other options there.

I agree. Must be something else going on there that we don't know about.

  8. Most of this topic has focused on the offensive side of the ball what about the defensive side? I wonder how the Steelers are going to be without their longtime DC and starting safety? Thats a lot of leadership turnover on the defensive side of the ball.

Agreed, the Steelers are rebuilding on D. In addition to their DC and Polamalu, they lost Clark, Keisel & Taylor as well. If I'm not mistaken, didn't someone else leave & sign with another team? I can't remember for sure.

  9. Man, she wanted a pontoon, but that was NOT happening. She decides a lot in life, but what we own toy wise, no, that's all me!

Since it has the large swim platform and rear transom area, no real place for a name.

I remember us talking about the pontoon way back when, that's why I brought it up. Too funny. You can still name her. Have a flag made up and fly it off the stern across from the jolly roger. Won't be long, you'll find yourself talking like a pirate. Arrr.

  10. Not trying to sarcastically rebut your post, just trying to explain my reasoning. With that said and using your per target numbers:

While in S.F. he was targeted on avg. 130 times in each 16 game season.

While in Bmore he was targeted on avg. 109 times each avg. 15 game season.

That's a difference of 21 targets more in S.F. which is 1.3 targets per game avg. Not that much more per season considering he averaged 15 games per season here.

In S.F. he caught an avg. of 83 per season on 130 avg. targets with a 63.8% avg. completion rate.

In Bmore he caught an avg. of 62 per season on 109 avg. targets with a 56.8 % avg. completion rate.

To me, he played better in S.F.

As far as the 3 missed games he had over 3 years here, no one can really say how he would have performed during those games for certain. He could have lit it up, crashed and burned or more than likely, just continued his averages. We can only attempt to figure it out based on his averages over the 15 game season. Using the above averages, over 16 week seasons he would end up with an avg. of 66 catches per season on 116 targets which is still 56.8% avg. completion rate.

  11. ok then

give Ben Boldin and Mason .

    we have Wallace and Santonio.

What does your heart tell you?

Since you are asking, I feel Ben would have been awesome with Boldin & Mason, especially since I am a big fan of both receivers and hated to see both go. I have never been a fan of Wallace and Holmes and I believe we would have been less productive with those two here.

My only knock on Boldin, and it's not a big one, is that I feel he could have had better regular season production while he was here.
