Interestingly enough the whole teams season is over..!
They should just go to Cinco and have a whole team dinner with the Bengals team for as much as this game matters to either team.
SHUT HER DOWN ! ! !They should play their hearts out for one reason only... The names on the backs of their jerseys. Pride and the Ravens way.
It's a nice thought there Mom and in most cases I would totally agree with you. The only thing that truly matters at this point is draft position.
I would find it hilarious if we didn't even get on the plane. A forfeit would secure a better draft position for us and a worse one for the Bengals, which would totally stick in their craw.
It wouldn't happen because of "Pride and the Ravens way". Plus, there's probably some NFL rule against it. I just think it would be really funny.
It would have been foolish to purposely not score there. Juszczyk did the right thing there.
On the final kickoff, they should have line-drived the kick to get the clock started when the ball would have first hit the ground in play. Could have easily knocked 15 seconds off the clock right there once they picked it up and began to return it.
But no, they kick it out of the end zone with no time coming off the clock and give them the ball at the 25.
That was a classic rivalry game between these two teams that didn't disappoint from beginning to end.
You can point to many failures on the Ravens part during the game that could have put it out of reach for the steelers. Three incompletions in the end zone come to mind. The fact that we had five drives in the first half on their side of the 50 and couldn't make it into the end zone once. The 4th quarter meltdown on the D, there is no way they should have been able to score with 78 secs on the clock.
Time to begin thinking of next year.
They may have punched their ticket but, I don't see them going very far in the playoffs. Miami may knock them out in the WC game. They definitely won't make it past NE.
This botched snap didn't mean anything in the outcome of the game, so need to sweat it guys. What mattered more was the fact that we made it into their territory five straight drives, in the first half, and couldn't get it in the end zone.

I think he dropped one against the Pats as well but he made up for it the next play. I think you're right though if he can develop his route running and hands he'll definitely be a weapon. Can't wait to see how me, Maxx and Boyle work together next season.
Wait, you're playing for the Ravens next year? lol

I know people are shouting Mike Wallace at me but he's had a pretty significant drop in production lately and it might make the team think twice about extending him.
Wallace is becoming a question mark to me, since week 10 he hasn't crossed 100 yards or recorded a TD. He's definitely going to be an asset, but not someone you want leading your receiving core. After that you have Perriman who isn't a safe bet but someone you know you will have to develop.
I think you at the least need someone who can make plays, too many times this team made Justin Tucker look good.
I just want to make you aware that there's no need to extend Wallace as he is under contract through 2017 with a 4.75m base plus a 1m roster bonus. Of course, we could cut him and save the 5.75m but he would still cost us 2.25m against the cap.
I would find this funny.
Since the game means absolutely nothing and we can gain draft position by losing, why bother even showing up. Might as well call it a season and just stay home. We'd be really screwing the Bengals with a forfeit and a lower draft position that would totally stick in their craw.

Sorry friend but I can't agree. He tried to catch the pass from ground level allowing the defender to get a hand in there. If he had jumped for the pass it would have made the catch much easier and the natural position of his body would have shielded the defender out of the play imo.

That would be like cheating on your spouse to sleep with your ex. It's great for the moment and brings back old memories but what does it accomplish for the future. ![]()
Although I liked Billick, Rex and Marvin, you don't normally move forward by taking multiple steps back. Let history stand as it is and look forward to building a new history with someone else.
I think the biggest part of Perrimans' future development outside of his hands and routes has to be learning how to use his body to shield defenders away. That could have been a TD yesterday if he had jumped to catch the end zone pass, using his body to shield the ball. As it was, he was able to reach for the ball but so did the defender to knock it loose..
I feel for the most part it will be a 1-2 punch as long as this staff remains. Bring in another coaching staff and things may change. Maybe even dramatically.
I am ready for a coaching change. Nothing against Harbs as he has been the best HC this team has had. I just feel we need a new direction and I don't feel Harbs is the man to lead us there with the staff he has selected. I've totally seen enough of the "Peesvent" defense and and our 4th quarter meltdowns over the years he's been here.
I want a solid offensive mind, someone who will push this offense in a manner that would make them more dangerous than they ever have been, without sacrificing solid defensive performance. We don't need a top defense if our offense is scoring TD's on some sort of a consistent basis. Not sure that person exists outside of NE, but I'd be willing to take some lumps during a few seasons to at least try the right mix of leaders in here.

Very true words and since we are in "next year mode", can you please stop bumping your own threads and just let them die! It would be appreciated.

Honestly, we have been spoiled by our prior success, and jaded by aspiring to be the dominating Patriots with their HOF coach and QB.
At the end of the day, we are considered a winning organization. But you can't blame the fans for wanting more.....like a dynasty.
No truer words spoken there Pu. It amazes me at times with some of the things said by some fans of this team considering the success this team has enjoyed and the respect it has earned.

No offense but, I don't understand how people can call that a drop when it was easy to see the defender forcing the ball out after the catch. It was a good defensive play on their part and it stripped us of a TD there. It 's almost unbelievable that lightening can strike this team twice in the same manner as the Lee Evans strip.
14 hours ago, Ravensfan23 said:I had Joe missing one throw in this game and that was a pass behind Pitta when he was getting hit. Other than that played so well, also Stanley did as well, but that's another thread.
I'm usually not the guy to say others need to make him look better, but there were plays that guys just failed to make in this game and it cost the Ravens.
Well there was a few others like the one he threw behind Perriman across the middle who made an awesome catch on the ball. Or the one that sailed over Wallace's head on that dig route. Over all he had a great day with the exception of a few dump offs I didn't care for.

Remember back in July when there were articles published about how much of a "tasmanian devil" he was during team scrimmages? What happened to that?
Either it was overblown, hyped up reporting or something happened to him mentally following that Pitta hit and Joe verbally attacking him in Pitta's defense. Notice how we haven't heard much about him following that incident.
15 hours ago, rmw10 said:I know it's not the typical ravens MO, but I would drop some serious coin on a top pass rusher and CB this year.
There fixed it for you, lol. I totally agree that these are two of three areas we need improvement, although we've never had great success with bringing in top defenders in the past. The other need I feel we must address is the Oline. We must strengthen our guard (opposite Yanda) and center positions.
15 hours ago, kiwi_raven said:Waller's dropped touchdown, the botched fg snap, these 2 things change this game
That wasn't a Waller drop as it was easy to see that the defender got his hand in there and forced the ball out. Lightening strikes this team twice to go along with the infamous Lee Evans catch.

Read the comments tomorrow.
Still it was a hell of a game, the classic battle between these two rivals. I can agree that they choked in the final quarter but it seems to always happen when we go into the "Peesvent" defense. We are not a good zone coverage team without some form of pass rush.

Have to agree with you there JO. The Chiefs would be my pick as well throughout the playoffs.

How's everything working out for you and your family brother. Have thought about you on occasion when we don't get to hear from you as often and we totally missed your pool pics this year.
Sorry John but, I don't feel we need more weapons. We do need to develop them better, What we need is a couple more quality linemen at the center and guard positions and some strong pass rushers on the edges and one more good shutdown cornerback would help.
For next year, we need to strengthen our run game and fix our zone coverage once and for all.

Weddle and his beard rule the gridiron. So glad he is a Raven as he certainly has the heart of one.
