  1. The whole idea that Trestman would abandon the run was nonsense. We haven't run many screens or had many catches by the RBs that plagued Chicago's 2014 either. Trestman specifically said he runs an offense based on the talent, not based on his preference. We'll pretty much have the same offense we did last year - most snaps under center, a lot of play action, bootlegs and bunch formations. Steve Smith is our clear #1, Perriman the #2 and primary deep threat, Campanaro the primary slot receiver and Aiken the outside receiver to relieve Steve or push him into the slot. I don't see many snaps for Marlon, unless he can prove himself during the early season. We'll also run 2 TE sets extensively. Gerry already said it during our game but Nick Boyle will be the #2 in run situations and Maxx the #2 in passing situations. Juice will probably be in for most of the snaps in 1 TE. On any snap, we'll probably see 3-4 players making up the end/backfield, so this is definitely an offense that wants to establish the run. I could definitely see Taliaferro getting a lot of those snaps once he's healthy.
  2. It's a good thing you only need 22 starters.
  3. Plus Gillmore is a beast now.
  4. Okay, let's see Renner already. Schaub makes me nauseous.
  5. I blame the coaches for pulling all our starters.
  6. Another lucky bounce. Go figure.
  7. Lucky bounce. What are we playing the Bengals now?
  8. I agree, your Redskins have been terrible. My Ravens, on the other hand, have been dominant.
  9. I hope Asa gets to return a few. He'll show he can make the team as a PR.
  10. So, any ideas why Nick Boyle is our starting TE? Is there something I missed?
  11. Redskins are gonna be so bad this year. 0-16 is a real possibility.
  12. How about our 1st round draft pick?
  13. I think people make too much of off-field behavior. This is a team I like, not my family. I don't have to think everyone's a good person to want to watch them play. I'll watch criminals entertain me, then I'll do something else and they'll go back to not mattering.
  14. This is a good breakdown. We've had a lot of starters out, and when you piece all the positives together, you still have a really solid roster. Unfortunately there are more bad patches mixed in than we've been used to. This is a very young team.
  15. The run game started out good with 2 of our starters out on the O-line (and arguably our top backup in Urschel). Keep in mind we're also missing Perriman and Campanaro (who will probably get a lot of receptions) and Pitta, if he ever comes back. Perriman will really change the offense. Melvin and a few other defenders played well. I didn't watch the backups. There were just too many penalties.
  16. Good to see some well-adjusted people discussing the finer intricacies of the game in a humane manner.
  17. I'm glad Tyrod is getting a chance. When he was here, the stories out of training camp were always "The Ravens are in trouble if Flacco goes down", but now he's a big hit in Buffalo. I hate to say the tide will turn once the losses start piling up, but it will. Troy Smith and John Beck were "the future at QB" for San Francisco and Washington for about a month, too.
  18. I don't think you can really tell much from these practices about the team in general. Same with the preseason box score. It's just about backup and bubble players or newly-minted starters proving themselves. You're talking about 2 squads who don't know anything about each other trying fixed scenarios to analyze certain players or formations. If everything was positive, it probably means you weren't working on anything.
  19. "Coming up on Sportscenter... did the Ravens keep the wrong quarterback?"
  20. Jensen and Reid looked impressive for backups. Art Brown and Zach Orr had their moments. But most of all, Carl Davis is a monster.
  21. Aww damn, our guys who aren't gonna make the team are getting beat by their... wait a second, is that their 1st round pick out there at tackle?
  22. I have to say, he's really playing like his career's on the line. It is, but at least he's playing like that.
  23. On the plus side, Carl Davis blew up that running play.
  24. The Saints have a good line and RB. How good is questionable, but they're no scrubs. Lawrence Guy has been a beast.
  25. I always liked Asa as a return guy.
