When Steve came in, he was an over-the-hill, slow possession receiver who would be #2 to Torrey. What a turnaround since then. Here's hoping he's got one more season left.
The screens have been terrible but throwing the ball aggressively and often is exactly what I was hoping for. Now the run can open up and we should see a lot more of it.
What do you do when you have more blitzers than blockers? You can't just keep bringing in more blockers. Should we just never run 3 WR sets? QBs get the ball out quickly to their favorable matchup when they're blitzed. For most teams that means a speedy slot receiver on a quick screen, for others it's a towering wide receiver on a fade route. For ours, it's a 2nd year TE still learning to run routes. Oh well.

As sucky as it is to lose, I have to admire the players actually stepping up. The DBs played great after a shaky start. Everyone on defense had their moment. Allen, Steve Smith and Gillmore showed that they were tougher than the defenders. The team overall played better as the game went on. Unfortunately, the circumstances were just stacked against us. Overlooking the botched officiating, we ended the game missing about half our starters against a team that has virtually no starters injured until one of their CBs got hurt. Away on a Monday night is just a really rough spot to be in with all that.

No one ever talks about how bad our run game is. Every week it's "They need to run to open up the pass", and every week it's been just the opposite. Until the offense sees that the pass game opens up the run, they will struggle early in games.

Suggs, Perriman, Webb, Monroe, Campanaro, Taliaferro, Canty, Pitta, Will Davis... all starters or key contributors, and all but Webb have missed most of the season. That's a lot.

Are you kidding? We get more comp picks than anyone. Not to mention all the unknown free agents who come here and have breakout seasons. Ihedigbo, Graham, Forsett... These were guys tossed around the league.

We were starting a CB who was inactive all year and then cut, but at least we made up for it by moving our special teams ILB to OLB. This team has just been completely gutted by injuries.
