  1. Saw on rotoworld that Housler wants to sign by the end of the week and PFT put out an article just three hours ago about the talks between the Ravens and Housler, so I don't know if that means they're really late (by media standards) or if Housler and the Ravens are gaining traction

Fingers crossed, but yes that's how its looking...

  2. 1) He doesn;t need a "full tank" to be a back up.

    2) That is not a lot of money for a guy that can step straight in and excute if need be, will continue to the teach the offense in place of Kubiak, and since he mat never get used the deal would then essentially be $2M.at most.

I honestly don't get all the questions on Ozzie's judgement.  This is the Ravens, not Raiders.  Let's leave the cap decisions up to the guy that does his 24/7.

    This.

  3. Not where I would have chose to spend the money, especially with potential holes in the starting lineup at WR, TE, and to a lesser extent, CB.

It's a 970K cap hit. We had to find a QB2. HOW could we have done better? There should still be plenty to find another piece or maybe two before the draft...

  4. About as good as it get's for a backup. I think Schaub can push Joe in practice harder than Tyrod did and also be more useful discussing concepts/attacking different coverages because of his extensive experience as a starter in this system in Houston under Kubiak. If Joe were to miss time I don't think you can realistically ask for a better backup to keep things running smooth until he got back.

Couldn't put it better myself. Focus on what he has to offer people. We just got better.

  5. well apperently its a 1 mil base salary , 1 mil bonus and 1 mill incentives deal.

    not bad at all.

Exactly. Next hole to patch... TE... I'm hoping for Gresham, but wouldn't be at all upset if it was Housler. I still wan't Clive Walford in the 3rd...

  6. he can sign for whatever price as long as the guaranteed part is less then 65K and its a 1 year deal and he is a veteran lol

at least thats what i make of it.

that 970K will be his cap number and the minimum schaub will make.

max ofcourse will be the 3 mil but it wont count that much against the cap.

so its a 3 mil 1 year deal with a 970K cap hit and  970K minimum earning.

IF the cap hit is only 970k then whats all this fuss about???

  7. Hopefully this helps our 2nd and 3rd string WR's develop.I imagine it must've been hard for them to get anything out of training camp and practices over the past few years when all Tyrod could/would do is tuck the ball and run.

    LOLOL!

  8. I guess, with his experience with the Texans, Schaub can help Joe to become even more familiar with Kubiak's system. I don't expect much from him on the field, though. If Joe goes down, I'll start looking up next years draft class immediately. Game over, man! Game over!

    Have a little faith

  9. I just hope that Schaub is a sign of dominoes beginning to fall. I think Housler is very big possibility, a low risk / high reward type signing and we will still draft a TE as well. Now onto receivers... I think Jennings or Crabtree is becoming more and more likely, and I'm good with either of those choices along with an early round receiver.

If the major offseason acquisitions turned out to be Lewis, Schaub, Jennings/Crabtree, and Housler... yeah I'd be okay with that :)

Money aside... Between the two who would help us more?

If we added Jennings/Crabtree, and either Housler/Gresham, we would be set going into the draft only really needing Wr,CB,RB,DT,OLB

  10. Schaub is a good signing.  Not going to have cost much and was cut by Oakland so won't impact comp picks next year.  Aaron Wilson is saying it will likely be a 2-year deal.  He may have struggled a bit the last few years, but a team's goal for a backup QB is that they hopefully never see the field.

I think one thing to point out about this signing is how Schaub's experience in Kubiak's system (threw over 4,000 yards twice) will help Joe continue to grow. I'm thinking we will see more precision, and decisiveness from Flacco. This also helps the receivers.

  11. Awful signing onlt made because he is familiar with the system

Wow. Being familiar with the system is no small thing. He will be helpful in TC with the receivers as well as helping Joe here and there. I can't see how you could complain about having a former pro bowl QB who knows your system as your backup...?

I know I feel more comfortable knowing if Joe (knock on wood) ever went down for any period of time we have Schaub who can manage the games and help us win.
