wont try to argue that either, i think next to baseball soccer seems like it requires the most technical skill out of any sport

I hear ya, same thing here. I have Verizon Fios = NFL on Demand for free! I spend that time looking over all the games from the previous week. This plus the 3 sunday games on tv gives me about 15 straight hours of football. Is this a great country or what!?!

  5. no jimmy for the year.. well, draft season looks more exciting than ever with a very possible top 16 pick.

  6. i remember once i believe it was yanda actually wrapped up one of our RB's and flinging him into the endzone right before he wouldve ran into a defender. wish i could remember where i saw this lol EDIT: it was the deciding run that got us into field goal range in the playoffs in denver, and i may have exaggerated a bit, he just tackled him forward as the tackler engaged ray lol. but i do still feel like ive seen yanda wrap up a rb and drag him forward..
  7. outdated rule i suppose, it happens in a ton of games every week, never gets called, and i dont blame em, if you cant shove the runner into the endzone, then what is the point of having 11 players on the field on a qb sneak? 11 defensive players are allowed to crowd around the center and try to rip the qb's head off, the 11 offensive players should be allowed to fight back, otherwise it would be 11 defenders vs a qb and a center essentially. please do not try to use this as an excuse, we let their o-line dominate us physically and shove our interior line 5 yards deep, it was an embarrassment and we failed absolutely miserably.
  8. ready to stop badmouthing elam?? LOOK AT THAT STRIP!

    1. Stephenjr

      Stephenjr

Elam is terrible! One play doesn't make up for 20 missed tackles in the game!

i must have been too busy watching franks get torched to notice elams play

  9. one of 2 things that couldnt happen to this or else we would be screwed... happened. i hope kubiak can SERIOUSLY dial up that run game and our defense can keep a lead, because with james hurst at LT our passing game doesnt stand a chance, especially with no pitta.

    1. JoeyFlex5

      JoeyFlex5

well pardon me, i didnt pay as much attention in the preseason as i usually do so i didnt see it first hand, but i didnt hear very good things on these boards about hurst. and my comment on the run game wasnt about hursts run blocking ability, it was more about how dominant our right side has been and how important it is for kubiak to play to that strength

Give the young man a chance. He may surprise us and hold his own.

    3. BmoreBird22

      BmoreBird22

Hurst actually played well as a pass blocker and steadily improved in each and every game. As a run blocker.... well... he's a body

  10. in my personal opinion, dean pees was absolutely brilliant in dialing up coverages and 4 man rushes against the steelers, he let jimmy do his thing on brown, sent the 4 man rush, and let our LB's and DB's plug every possible throwing lane, who wouldve thought playing conservative defense would be such a ballsy move

    1. JoeyFlex5

      JoeyFlex5

ive always liked pees and i think he is brilliant for what we have on our team right now, rex or chuck are probably 2 of the top 3 DC's in the league but im not so sure they would fit our roster

    2. BmoreBird22

      BmoreBird22

I don't know, ravensdfan, I'd call a top five red zone and top 5 third down defense successful...

    3. ravensdfan

      ravensdfan

I don't call the lopsided TOP in Week 1 successful. I don't call no TOs, no QB pressure, no sacks, successful. I don't call the other team scoring on 5 of 6 drives successful. Which is where the reliance on TOs comes in.

  11. boys, that was a shellacking. lets enjoy it for 9 days and then its on to the brownies.

  12. i wonder who is going to be the first player on IR because of a hangnail or a scraped knee, so far our entire IR is actually injured, a rare feat for the ravens.

    1. BmoreBird22

      BmoreBird22

Butler did on fact have an AC injury

  13. brandon merriweather is the type of person that caused goodell to make these helmet rules that we complain about. this guy needs to be out of the league, period, he has shown repeatedly that he is nothing but a hazard to the players around him, he doesnt know how to get low, doesnt care about form, doesnt use his arms or shoulders, he just launches his helmet at opponents heads and hopes it works. he needs to be gone from this league.

    1. berad

      berad

Merriweather is just a poor player. You're right in that he cannot tackle, he just launches. The hit on Torrey was atrocious but it's just the latest example of disregard for other players. He's been suspended and fined before, time to up the ante.

    2. ravensdfan

      ravensdfan

Well maybe you'll be happy to know he has been suspended for 2 games for the hit on Torrey.

  15. SMH bodybag day in camp. this is ridiculous and something isnt right, niners must be practicing dirty out there or something because they havent had any injuries while we may have just lost 2 starters for the season.

  18. any south carolina ravens fans on here? ill be in myrtle beach during the first preseason game and i would really love to watch it

  19. didnt think for one second he would come here.
  20. webb, jimmy, and flowers would all get near equal playing time if that were to happen, in this days nfl, 3rd CB is crucial because theyre on the field so much more often, webb is a starting caliber corner who is best in the slot and is a enforcer against the run as a CB, but with an injury history, so signing an ideal #2 CB like flowers allows us to monitor webbs snap count to hopefully help prevent another major injury, and he is also being used to his max potential, while flowers and jimmy are doing the same on the outside. we would make LOB sit down and cry if we were to sign flowers. all moot though, it wont happen.
  21. wow. the trolling is unreal. unless this guy is just.. completely out of his mind. theres no debate that torrey is elite, he clearly isn't, never will be, an elite receiver is a very rare thing. doesn't mean its worth trading such a high character, local product, who is a very hard worker, big community guy, and clear cut leader and very respected voice in the locker room, who isn't even in his prime yet. outrageous idea.
  22. yea i honestly thought he was worth a 2nd round pick. its a reach where we were picking though, and we got a first round talent in the mid 2nd, at the time though, i was not a happy camper. i was yelling at my tv "I GUESS ELAMS GONNA PLAY FREE AGAIN THIS YEAR" but the fact that he was still on the board in the third was shocking and picking him there made this draft look pretty brilliant
  23. HAHAHA no. i dont think most of us expected brooks to be there at 79. and if you looked at any posts i put up more recently, you'd see me say that after the terrence brooks, this whole draft started to make sense, and that it was a brilliant move to be so patient and stay so true to the board and end up getting a player we really wanted.
  24. like the player, hate the pick. We slightly improved, when we could have improved drastically by getting an impact player at a huge position of need, Guys that would have been pretty good value picks as well.
  25. i am warming up to the mosley pick, but if we take kuandjio in the 2nd... thats a pick ill just never warm up to. seriously hope someone takes him before our pick because im worried ozzie will double dip his pen in the bama ink with him
