  2. heres how i see perriman... his downsides as a rookie, are all downsides that torrey had even in year 4. the difference between these 2 players, is that perriman is aggressive, he attacks the ball with tenacity, and if his floor is torrey smith, well then im ok with the pick, but the thing is i think his floor is higher than torrey, simply because he does every single thing torrey did but better. coming out of college, torrey had straight line speed and thats about it, he had a terrible habit of body catching, couldnt use his hands whether it was for catching or gaining separation, he has zero aggression in all aspects, and he turned out to be pretty good, if joe flacco can make torrey look as good as he did, then trust that joe will make more out of perriman. i wasnt happy with the pick at first either, but you have to look at everything, there isnt much reason to believe the guy will just straight up drop every pass thrown his way, especially when he still has a better combo of hands and body control than any wr on this team not named steve. such negativity man, if you wanna bash a pick then bash the boyle pick, perriman was the best option at 26th
  3. a few picks had me scratching my head in day 3, but overall we absolutely NAILED this draft, straight up home run(on paper at least) the last 2 drafts looks like the beginning of another super bowl in the near future

no no no, we want that 5th year option. Besides we won't need anymore picks as we should have 2 4th and a 5th round comp pick next year. We are already at 10 picks.

Are you talking about it being slow, yes I am

  5. i see alot of zach miller and heath miller in this guy, but with a higher ceiling just because his ability to catch impossible passes is insane, he is just so good at snatching up everything thrown anywhere near him, he has great YAC, he is tough as nails, agile and sudden and knows the route tree and excels on quick strike play action passes, and seems especially great at the good ol' redzone quick seam, which is big news because that is joes absolute best throw, he loves being able to fire the seam to the inside shoulder when were inside the 20, and being able to put it out of reach for the db and still have confidence that it will be caught is huge, we saw it alot with pitta and boldin and it was lethal
  6. while im thrilled about carl davis, im still super bummed about not trading up for harold or mauldin, love those guys for this team with their first step, burst, and motor.

I'm not worried at all, because I know Ozzie knows what he is doing. Today is the day, plus we also picked up Lewis to play FS in free agency.

The difference with Ozzie is that in the 3rd round on he continues staying true to his board and many other teams start drafting for need, which causes many players to be overdrafted and others to fall into our laps, ie Carl Davis. What a steal!

    2. JoeyFlex5

      JoeyFlex5

yeah carl davis and maxx williams are mega steals, although i think the true steal of the 3rd round was harold and i really thought we were gonna get him, i still wished we traded up to secure him but im excited as hell about having 3 4ths and 2 5ths with all these players still on the boards. hoping we get derron smith, double dip at wr with diggs, bell, mcbride, or hardy, and get some OL depth or kyle emanuel

Not sure if you know, but I used to be a Skins fan (season ticket holder) and couldn't take it anymore. This is my first draft as a Ravens fan and what a Doozy. I've been a Ravens fan since week 8 2014.

  7. youre certainly a glass half empty person. what youre getting with perriman, is a replacement AND improvement from what we lost with torrey. all the problems perriman has as a rookie, are problems torrey had as a 4 year vet, the difference is he is still head and shoulders better than torrey in every other aspect and his flaws are nowhere near as glaring as torreys was coming out of college, plus he can adjust to the deep ball which is something torrey certainly struggled with(and really screwed us when he gave up on the ball @NE). im not one for bashing torrey but facts are facts, he had alot of issues and still produced big time for us, if we get another 4 years of torrey style production from perriman then im ok with it. davis, i have my concerns for sure, i read he has a lazy and entitled attitude, but you also have to think, he was projected first o earl 2nd, he has been vocal about the chip on his shoulder from falling so far, you could hear the irritation in his voice when he talked to ryan mink on the phone, i think hes out to prove people wrong, and its a rare thing to see ravens DL players not showing enthusiasm, these guys love their DL coach clarence brooks and want to play well for him, and he knows how to coach em up
  8. i thought williams was a brilliant value, until this happened. this is why we say in ozzie we trust. jesus god almighty were gonna win the super bowl every year until these rookie contracts are up! lol, not really, but still. hell of a draft here. even the most optimistic of mocks on the draft forums didnt look this good
  9. GrimCoconut, how sad are you to see devin smith go to the WR graveyard that is the jets?

  10. After a day to think on it, I like the pick. Let's weigh the ups and downs and compare him to Torrey.. Breshad perriman as a rookie: Blazing speed Good size Good length Great overall athleticism, agility, jumping, suddenness etc. can make acrobatic and contested catches incredible body control to adjust to the ball mid air Inconsistent hands, mostly due to a lack of form Bad route running but has he athleticism and suddenness to perform quality routes Torrey smith IN YEAR 4: Good speed Average size, decent upper bulk but twig legs Struggles greatly tracking the ball Bad routes as a 4 year vet Soft Does not contest catches Often fails to haul in any catch that isn't perfectly placed As a rookie, breshad perrimans problems are all the same problems Torrey had after 4 years in the nfl. Torrey's problems looked worse than perrimans coming into the league, and perriman does one thing specifically that separates him from Torrey as a deep threat, and that is adjusting to the ball and being able to catch the ball even if it isn't perfectly dropped into his hands, all this added to the fact that he is much faster, much quicker, much bigger, and longer than Torrey. Plus, if any qb can make something with this guy, its joe. I honestly think his floor is pretty much slightly lower than Torrey's best season, and his ceiling is limitless if he gets his form right wih his hands and learns to refine his routes, he has the ability it just needs refinement. I don't think we take him at 26th if engram watches his film and says "I can't fix that". I think his turns out to be a good pick, it may take a year though. I'd still like to get a security blanket type of guy
  11. More dropped passes! I generally back up Ozzie but man i did not want perriman. Oh well at least we didn't take Landon Collins. Really wanted Malcolm brown tho, I can't believe he's still on the board

Finally everyone can shut up about Ozzie being scared of drafting WR in the first round. Still, I'm very disappointed with this pick.

    2. glen ferguson

      glen ferguson

This is a great pick.Alot of upside, welcome to training camp. Now go catch ball from that jug machine.

    3. redrum52

      redrum52

From what I've seen he at least catches with his hands. He attacks the ball with his hands instead of waiting for the ball to come to him. If nothing else, the defense will at least fear his speed early on.

  12. I am begging someone to take Landon Collins because I want him off the board by the time we pick. I don't want another reckless tackling strong safety on this team we have plenty of those already

  13. Ok, I am more about. Trade back rather than a trade up, but if Dupree makes it to Phillis pick at 20th we gotta trade up, I didn't expect him to fall this far

  14. Okay draft geeks, time for all of our discussions from the past 3 months to make themselves completely moot!

  16. i thought this was obvious lmao
  17. can you put names to numbers please? i dont know who were talking about here
  18. im thinking of buying whoever we draft in the first round, as long as it isnt arik armstead lol. sadly i spent 100 on a elam jersey before week 1 of last season, waste. and i have a flacco SB jersey but its way too big, i reserve that one for going to games in the winter so i can fit a coat under it. i try not to get the ones everyone else has, so current players i would consider are jernigan, williams, yanda, juice, and if he gets healthy and returns to form and stays around i think wagner is worth consideration as well, dude is the best RT in the league when healthy.
  19. brutal late season. luckily we play seattle at the bank. and facing STL late season worries me, one injury to any player on our OL could be lethal in that game, we need KO, yanda, and zuttah/urschel as our interior. im liking that we play pitt at the bank in week 16, that is awesome and it could be a real intense primetime game. we have to come out HOT against denver, week 1 peyton is dangerous, its when hes at his best and we dont have time to "develop" anything this year, we gotta be in midseason form from the first snap or we'll be falling behind in the conference race. we cant sleep on the raiders, they are not the same team they have been the past decade. so realistically, i cant call week 1, but i think we will go 5-1 in the division with our loss coming from cinci. i could see us having a tough time in SF and AZ(carson palmer for some reason plays so well against us) and i have my worries about STL, we have a mauling OL but we dont handle dominant interior pressure as well in the passing game, STL is the type of defense that will give us fits because we will need to win every 1v1 matchup on the OL, not predicting a loss there just saying it could be a tough one. im calling 13-3 assuming we nail the draft and avoid the injury bug.
  20. the byron jones is seriously picking up steam, what exactly is he considered? a cb or a s? and ill admit i dont know much about the kid but is he a jack of all trades or is he really just good enough to play lights out at either position?

    1. Dewy101

      Dewy101

Hes a CB no question about that. He's a bit raw imo relied a lot on his athleticism(which is off the charts), I think his upside is too great to pass up on if he's available at 26 we take him. Its going to take a while for him to great down proper technique but he may end up being the best CB in the draft. Great character too.

    2. Orange_Peanut

      Orange_Peanut

With his athleticism he probably could play CB at a high level. It is a steep learning curve for the safety position and relying solely on athleticism won't cut it.

    3. polynesian15

      polynesian15

Plus Jimmy, who struggled a bit himself in his early years, will be around to mentor the kid. I'd love a cb in the first. It would redeem our weak secondary from a year ago, together with the Lewis signing etc.

  21. mayocks word is generally pretty respected, but have you seen his new rankings? alot of it is questionable at best, some of it is downright headscratching like armstead over brown and collins over peters and breshad perriman over agholor/dorsett/smith/strong. he must be obsessed with raw project players all of a sudden

    1. RavensFanMania

      RavensFanMania

He also has Mariota over Winston. Now I'm not a fan of either QB, but I'm just not a fan of Mariota. Not sure if he can transition to a pro style offense. I tend to like Mayock over Kiper and McShay, but that's really not a stretch I always watch the draft on NFL Network.

    2. hn68wb4

      hn68wb4

I agree with Raine, the first two are head scratching but Perriman over those other receiver isn't very shocking. While i don't agree with it, i can certainly admit out of those receivers he may have the highest ceiling

    3. JoeyFlex5

      JoeyFlex5

perriman over strong is understandable because of his quick twitch ability to gain separation, and really the only thing he has over devin smith is a larger body of work and some better YAC, i dont understand him being ranked ahead of dorsett and agholor though, to me they are without question FAR superior to perriman

  22. board members mock drafts come in spurts, you get like 5 or 6 in the span of 2 days and then they disappear for a month. i really enjoy seeing other posters' mocks and im hoping theres one more flurry of them before the real thing

    1. hn68wb4

      hn68wb4

I'd like to do another but I'm swamped and I wouldn't feel comfortable without explaining the reasoning behind each of my picks. I just don't think I'll have time to put another mock together.

ive done way too many which is why i wont be doing another. the last mock i did i think was the THIRD time ive done a "final" mock draft and i gotta stick to it this time lol

There's been so many, it's hard to find any originality. Maybe I should do 1 more with us taking an O-Lineman in the 1st and see how people react lol.

  23. just watched jason lacanforas interview with ryan mink. im so glad that he made it big, he is hands down one of the most knowledgeable and logical reporters out there, and he comes from the maryland area so we finally have some representation. while analysts talk cluelessly about the ravens, la canfora is there to clear the air and put the FACTS out there.

  24. this. nail on the head buddy. joe isnt a greedy guy, he doesnt care about getting a fat signing bonus and big lump sum, he is family oriented, and he is building quite a large family too, the last thing he would want is to uproot his wife and kids, he wants long term security and he knows the way to get that is to take the 3 year "rent-to-own" contract. he gets his signing bonuses and still maintains a very nice salary figure, and playing here in baltimore allows him to stay close to home up there in jersey, and it keeps him in a respectable franchise in desirable playing conditions. joe is no dummy, he will take the extension with a big smile on his face knowing he gets to continue his possible hall of fame career close to home and keep his family rooted here in maryland.
  25. has there been any updates on housler? id hate to see him go to cinci : /
