  1. i lol'ed at the zoolander line! but anyway, he has the ability to run the full route tree, and his route game isnt terrible right now, its just little nuances that many receivers dont learn without proper coaching, he telegraphs his routes from time to time. for instance, lets say the db gives him 10 yards of cushion and hes running a deep slant, he will start trying to shake off the db before he even eats up half the cushion, giving the db a hint that hes gonna break early and allowing him to jump the route, also letting the db know that the deep route isnt coming and he needs to close in. or lets say hes running a 9 route with 10 yards of cushion again, instead of keeping the db on his toes he will put his head down and stomp on the gas, letting the db know its gonna be a footrace. its very subtle things that can be the difference between an elite wr and a good wr and should be easily coachable unless hes a complete idiot lol. he does have alot of the little things that many college wr's dont have though, he is the best wr in this draft when it comes to hand fighting with the db's in close quarters, it just seems to come natural for him to be able to beat the hell out of press coverage with his hands while still running his route properly, thats a part of his game that he is ahead of the learning curve. also his hands may not be as bad as advertised, people really need to think about the passes he was catching, god awful qb play to say the least, i almost feel bad for him having to spend a whole season bailing his qb out like that.
  2. i see that people are starting to see breshad perriman with a bit more logic. hes getting some of the credit he deserves instead of saying "hes raw hes gonna bust hes another torrey bla bla", good job on knowing your stuff guys
  3. youre right about the baseball, man im sick of it lol.
  4. yeah i liked buck before, but hes a pick that is settling very well with me and im really excited to see him suit up. he is by far the best rb we have drafted since ray rice, and i even think i like buck more coming out of college than i liked ray rice, and i was a big ray rice fan in the 08 draft.
  5. yeah i actually was very impressed and surprised by gilmore, he showed me that it really makes a difference having a great blocking TE(ive always thought blocking was nearly a non factor for tight ends) and he really surprised me by being serviceable as a receiver, nothing spectacular but exceeded my expectations. dude is solid
  6. i wouldnt call that an ignorant guess, more like a realistic guess in a situation that doesnt need concrete evidence to say so lol
  7. i like rob, and the black dude on the morning show i cant remember his name. vinny just seems to stir the pot and he just speaks with too much conviction and is seriously closed minded, i dont like how he disrespects callers just because he disagrees with them even if theyre making a good point. there have been many times where ive thought about calling in just because i know i could make him look stupid and get him all riled up, but i just never do it lol. but yeah scott and jeremy are totally unqualified and need new jobs
  8. ok? that wasnt why i was posting that, i posted that because it looked like i was putting up 2 big posts back to back and i wanted to explain why that happened.
  9. maybe his dad wanted him to be his own man and didnt hold his hand throughout his preparation? have you ever heard of barry sanders' dad?
  10. steelers fans will argue to the death that senquez golson would intercept any pass thrown to waller with his incredible ball skills, and then theyll argue that golson was their original target in the 2nd and we didnt steal williams from them
  11. i believe it was jeremy and scott. although it might have been on vinnie and rob, i cant remember, i was at work and had a horrible signal on the radio lol
  12. regardless of what ZD provides for us, i think he will provide. he will easily find himself a role, he is just too solid of a football player and he plays like a raven, dude is big and tough as nails, powerful, good reach, violent player, solid technique all around, he just doesnt have stellar athleticism, i think hes a starter for us down the road. i am ecstatic with the buck allen pick, i liked him before, but for some reason didnt think we would draft him, and now that we did i like him even more. he is everything we want in a 3 down back, he runs our system well, has excellent vision and anticipation, good burst and 1 cut ability, and an intriguing blend of power and elusiveness that kinda reminds me of yeldon, he can break most arm tackles and he can shake you out of your jock all in the same snap, to add to it he is one of the best backs in terms of 3rd down ability, he is one of the best pass protecting backs in the class, he actually may be the 2nd best in that regard after gurley, and also is a good receiver, probably 4th after gurley yeldon and ajayi. this guy is totally pro ready and i think a future 1000 yard rusher, i feel MUCH better about him than i felt about LT and pierce.
  13. i heard them saying he is a bad YAC guy on 105.7 because "you see quite often he gets the ball and just kinda goes down because hes struggling to make the catch" and i was just baffled that these guys get paid to cover sports. i dont think it can be any more evident that more often than not he is going down on the catch because his qb left him out to dry with a god awful pass that most receivers wouldnt have caught anyway. the more i watch perriman, the more i think he just doesnt get enough credit, and he sounds like hes got a real chip on his shoulder about all the bad hands talk, i think he'll still have a few focus drops, but i think overall he blows the minds of the talking heads and turns out to be just what michael irvin, ozzie, and bobby engram says he is.
  14. Perriman Williams(OLINE) Waller Joe Camp Buck i fully expect buck and perriman to be everything we are hoping. IF waller can eventually be a guy who can at least always keep the defense on their toes and make the occasional deep jumpball, and if camp stays healthy, this would be a stupid nice base formation to field, and theres always the option to move around guys like camp and williams and then juice would obviously be an x factor on the right downs. this is a seriously intriguing option, there is too much of everything
  15. for my money i liked dez lewis much better in the 6th as i think he has #1 written all over him, he is a small school guy but less of a project as he is pretty well rounded, only 2 inches shorter and good size overall, good length, bigger hands, quicker, can run the route tree for the most part, and has a great ability to pluck the ball outta the air against tight coverage. i think everything about dez is better than waller aside from the 2 inches, i even think his ceiling is higher. that said, im happy to give waller a shot, a 6th round flier on a guy this big who can get down field rather quick and actually use his size and length by attacking the ball and catching with his hands, he could end up being the real deal with the way our offense is looking right about now
  16. were both glass half full types of fans, but this is one ill just have to say that i have zero hopes on, and i think the ravens and pitta know this as well and they are just agreeing to brush it under the rug because of contractual things
  17. he is a very good yac guy, the problem is his qb almost never hit him in stride, watch the tape and youll see everytime he is in a YAC situation like a deep slant with a step on the defender and the middle open, he has to make absurd adjustments to the ball like doing a full 180 in full sprint to turn around and grab a ball behind him. matter of fact, alot of the catches he makes on tape were horribly thrown and he had to make absurd adjustments. on the few occasions where he gets hit in stride, he drops some jaws, hell i even see plays where he breaks stride greatly to catch a underthrown ball, catches it, and STILL pulls away from the defender when he gears back up. this is to say his YAC ability is probably better than what his tape can show you, and also to say that this is great to know he has tons of experience catching poorly placed balls, joe does have a tendency to deliver an erratic throw to an open wr at times, its nice knowing we have someone who knows how to come up with those. too often ive seen our guys completely unable to adjust to a slightly misplaced ball
  18. yea i didnt think about that. ok then let me rephrase, i think our fans should stop acting as if there is any chance of him playing again, there may be a .001% chance, but cmon guys, consider pitta on the active 53 a thing of the past and move on, it hurts my feelings as much as anyone else, but he wont be playing football anymore, and if he does, it will be in a very limited capacity and even that will leave me shocked.
  19. carl davis was the 2nd best value pick in the draft after michael bennett
  20. i wish pitta would just retire so we can get these expectations out of the way. he will never be able to play a regular role again, i dont know if he can make it through a full season as a 3rd TE, ive said it before ill say it again, if you have successful surgery, are well over a year removed from said surgery, look like youre fully recovered, and then go down with the same injury on a routine catch and run just jogging a straight line, then its very clear that the injury is too much to overcome. i love pitta and it is a very sad and heartbreaking story, he is one of the true good guys of the league and a top notch leader on our team, but it should be obvious to anyone who was watching that cleveland game, that he wont be able to play again. i mean he could be walking down the stairs at home and have his hip blow out again because what he was doing on that field @cleveland wasnt any more strenuous than that.
  21. i find it hard to believe were not gonna take a flier on drummond at all.. i find it even harder to believe he went undrafted, i mean WOW
  22. im liking the sound of this, steelers ravens 2.0. the rivalry needs some life injected into it and i think some of the guys drafted this year are just the types to do that. also, thank you for pointing out all that about perriman. i gotta say im really liking bobby engram as our wr coach, he is doing a great job and he is pounding the table for super high ceiling guys with confidence and saying "its no big deal i can fix it", and i believe he can.
  23. i think the biggest thing we need to realize, is that our secondary is returning healthy(hopefully) and look how far we made it last season with a demolished secondary, a TE and WR who have a combined age equal to my grandfather, and a injury riddled OL, we were one missed tackle, one dropped td pass, one terrible play on the ball by torrey smith away from the AFCCG where we likely would have destroyed the colts. if we can keep the injuries to the average amount that a team normally deals with, i dont see anybody stopping us. i think we automatically upgrade from torrey with perriman, i think we upgrade from OD(although tight ends do come on slow sometimes) and i think buck allen by midseason is performing better than forsett and can carry a heavier load. another year of continuity with jernigan and williams will be nice, mosley in year 2 is another thing to be excited about, and hopefully elam can finally put it together but i wont get my hopes up. im worried about doom and sizzle falling off, that could hurt us, but overall the outlook is very bright.
  24. our offense just took a massive step forward in the past 3 days. i think this offense is the perfect place for perriman to step in and shine, maxx williams makes for a great security blanket and is a very safe prospect, i see big things in his future, and darren waller, while not my favorite choice in the 6th, is still 6'6" and is leaps and bounds better than tommy streeter and actually could find himself a nice niche in our offense, buck allen looks rock solid, good scheme fit, does everything, great moves, solid power, just steady as they come. joe has never had this kind of firepower, this could be the most exciting offensive season we have seen since the ravens came into existence. i think one of our guys has a real shot at contending for OROY, perriman is possibly in the best situation of all the first round wr's besides maybe agholor, but i think him and joe really complement eachother, they will both make the other look better, and there is no better mentor for a raw product like perriman than an aging steve smith who knows his role and is pursuing a ring over anything. needless to say, i am excited, i dont think i have ever been so excited about a draft class. EDIT: just wanna point out, i posted a seperate thread and they were posted nearly at the same time and this was merged into this thread. i didnt just post 2 walls of text back to back
  25. not surprising, i thought depriest would be on ozzies radar in some way. longshot at best though, as a bama fan this guy does not have what it takes in the nfl, he is just way too slow
