  1. i know lol thats why everytime we get on a roll with alot of people picking at once, i get bummed when its his turn, i know its probly gonna be a while
  2. ravensnick is my mans and all, but god it sucks waiting for him to pick.
  3. you must have read it wrong. put the number of the pick. i clearly said you didnt need to make it a nice post, but put the number of your pick.
  4. can we stop with the lazy posts, a picture and all that isnt necessary, but at least put the number of your pick please. dont just name the player and call it quits
  5. like i said, clarence brooks. best DL coach in the league hands down. he makes pro bowlers out of guys like carl davis
  6. love the kyle fuller pick
  7. to be completely honest, i know this wont be a popular opinion, but i think upshaw is better at this job than JJ. not by much, but i do think hes better, and has more room to grow. i think his ceiling is about 6 sacks per season and thats if hes getting most of the snaps on obvious passing downs, but thats not terrible for a guy who plays the run and stuffs TE's at the line as well as he does. i hope we get to keep him here because i think if we lose him we will be feeling the effects in a bad way. upshaw and ZD smith could be a solid OLB duo for years to come, both violent and physical players, upshaw having hulkish strength and great discipline and ZD being the more flexible and athletic guy, i see ZD as a pretty pro ready guy and id like to see these 2 grow together
  8. can you pm me who it is? i feel we may be after the same guy lol
  9. too much work lol
  10. no talking about qb's please. i cant afford to have anyone reminded
  11. a DT and DE is a blurred line in a 3-4. ngata played DE more often than DT for us, its about the role not the position. davis will likely be lined up over the OT holding down 2 gaps, williams is normally lined up over the C holding down 2 gaps, and the true DT on the team right now is jernigan and he typically plays a 1 gap role between the T and G, that leaves 1 OLB on a island with the OT and the other OT facing a mismatch against the DE and the OLB. putting davis in the DT role would mean he gets single gap penetration responsibilities while jernigan is playing 2 gaps lined up over the OT, thats de-valuing both players big time.
  12. i know this, but one guy will get a bulk of the snaps for many reasons, well roundedness being the biggest one, you cant be a starter on our DL without being able to stop the run, urbans ability to stop the run i can say without a shadow of a doubt wont be better than davis. if davis and urban are splitting snaps id like to see a 60/40 split just because i feel davis would offer more.
  13. thats what im saying, but at this point i dont know if any of our options at the 5-tech should be taking meaningful snaps from davis, davis looks like the best player at that position for us even without seeing a nfl snap from him, and i feel this confidently about him mostly thanks to clarence brooks. urban strikes me as a good rotational guy and someone who can come in and bring some pressure on passing downs, but i think carl davis looks like the starter, he can hold down the 2 gap scheme, he eats up space and anchors well, and free's up the LB's, and can push some pocket and penetrates surprisingly well with a nice swim move and a nice "close-in-and-benchpress" move, urban just doesnt seem like the more complete player to me and i feel urban would need one hell of a preseason/TC to take the bulk of the snaps come regular season
  14. but then who is carl davis competing with? his athleticism for his size is legit and with some refinement hes an immediate contender for a nice snapcount at 5-tech, and if urban is the guy for the 5-tech that means that carl davis isnt seeing the field enough or he is taking snaps from jernigan. carl davis isnt a NT and i think he loses value there, in our 3 man front he looks like he projects to a 5-tech, and jernigan has the 3-technique on the other side pretty much on lockdown. idk about you, but i like carl davis much more than urban on our defense when talking about who gets the bulk of the snaps
  15. and suddenly the boards cope with the fact that KLM is a tragic story that will never pan out. i remember telling everyone a few months back that KLM has a barefoot and in the rain uphill climb. for a guy whos never taken a NFL snap 2 injuries of this severity is ALOT to overcome. urban, i like the idea of him, the size, the strength, the length, but he also has a severe injury with no NFL snaps and carl davis is a legitimate contender for a starting role by midseason, i personally like the idea of 3 big bodied guys on all downs to impose the will, bully and beat down opponents while also free'ing the edge players up and it also makes for more effective stunt packages when you overwhelm the OL with brute force, a starting lineup of jernigan, williams, and davis can do just that, not to mention both jernigan and davis have some moves and they know how to get in the backfield. i think instead of talking about the starting lineup though, its more about the rotation, thats always been the biggest strength on our team and it looks as good now as its ever looked.
  16. as long as your safety doesnt miss tackles when he is truly the last line of defense, and as long as he follows assignments and picks up coverage when its assigned, then you have good enough safety play. if one safety can blitz, man cover TEs, run support, lay the wood on crossing patterns, then you have a luxury at SS, if your FS can make even 5 int's in a year, you have a luxury at FS. ed reed and troy polamalu style safeties are not necessities, those types of players are few and far between, and if you get one then you are lucky, but as long as your safety plays better than michael huff and matt elam, then you have a chance to win it all. an elite safety duo is nothing without cb's and/or a front seven.
  17. i think carl davis could actually be a force to be reckoned with, even with his inconsistencies, that is the type of guy that clarence brooks takes and makes other gm's say "why did we pass on him again?". he has the ability to be every bit as good as ngata. za'darius smith appears more complete than mcphee, he is a powerful and violent player with a well rounded skillset, he wont be the speed rusher and stunt expert like mcphee, but put him on the right task and he could be too much to handle when playing behind our DL. my only real concern is the edge rush depth, if either of the top 2 gets hurt or starts to fall off we could be in trouble, but i also think the pressure our DL can generate on its own can make up for that
  18. i have 2 and i can guarantee one will be gone by my next pick, and id be totally shocked if the other one was taken.. if theyre both available i might just have an aneurysm and drop out of the draft cuz i wont be able to decide.
  19. i would just like to thank sizzlebshu for stepping up to the plate to make this game as realistic as possible, someone had to play the dan snyder/al davis role here and it wasnt gonna be any of us. thank you for your sacrifice sizzle, true american hero
  20. the wait between picks is agonizing, i feel bad for whoever is picking first or last. also i have like 6 guys im targeting and i have the worst feeling theyll all be gone by the time i pick
  21. am i the only one not a fan of hilton? i have quite a few guys i have above him right now
  22. will hill may be an attacking type of hybrid safety but he is by no means a pollard/chancellor type who essentially plays both LB and S, he is a safety through and through. he excels at man coverage on tight ends, intermediate zones, and has looked good on zone blitz packages designed to get him a free lane to the backfield, thats what he is best at and thats how he will be used unless kendrick lewis is a massive failure and we are forced to play hill at FS. if kendrick lewis pans out and shows starting caliber play in deep zone coverage, and if our secondary stays healthy for once, then that ties the whole secondary together. jimmy smith against those "#1 wrs" is a mismatch for us, he takes those big guys and makes them a nonfactor. webb is inconsistent and is always at risk for another injury, but he is still solid and savvy, and plays the ball well for his size. will hill is an elite hybrid safety, arrington is a 1 trick pony but he is among the best at that 1 trick(slot coverage), melvin is average depth for outside coverage and can handle some big tall guys as well. TLDR; jimmy is elite shutdown caliber, webb and ajax can play serviceable inside and out, arrington is an elite slot corner who is horrible on the outside, melvin is alright if we keep him matched up with the right guy(away from shifty slot guys), and will hill is simply a stud, kendrick lewis and the health of the unit are the 2 glaring question marks, but if those 2 things pan out then our secondary will be above average and definitely good enough to allow us to contend for a title, but thats of course if our team starts where we left off in the pass rush/OL/passing/rushing/run-stuffing departments.
  23. you make a good point, idk really. just my projection based on some things i know about how harbaugh works. i think levine and trawick making it over walker would be realistic, but if walker makes it over one of them i wouldnt be surprised by that either.
  24. i guess we'll have to see, but unless he can blow our longtime ST ace's out of the water than i think it may be hard for him to make the active roster week 1. im not saying he wont see the roster at all this year, im talking about strictly in week 1, i think he may need a little extra coaching before he bypasses the couple of guys that have been special teams standouts for us for the past 2 years or so, and because of the arrington signing, smith/webb/ajax being relatively healthy, and melvin having a solid showing last year, i think walkers only route to the active 53 is through ST. if harbs wants to field him on ST over trawick(who, aside from 1 hiccup with jacoby, has been a ST stud) orr, and levine(who was solid depth last year as well), then that must mean he had a hell of a training camp, because we know how harbs feels about ST and how he prefers experienced guys. i wouldnt exactly be surprised, im just going off of history here and i think history shows all the things i just explained.
