  1. You can say this and you can say that, but it comes down to not scoring when you're in the red zone. Sure Flacco deserves some of the blame, but how many incomplete passes in the endzone have we seen, that should have been completions. There were 3 today, I believe 3 against the Broncos, and at least 1 against Oakland. I am sure there are more, but those are the ones that come to mind.

Even missed field goals have come back to hunt us. I can't blame Tucker for tonight's miss, but if he makes that suddenly we are in field goal range to win the game, instead of needing a touchdown. And last week the missed field goal was a deciding factor in the out come of that game.

This afternoon I was listening to the radio and someone said that the receivers need to make plays, catch the tough pass, make one guy miss and again that didn't really happen.

  2. It's starting to feel like the 2013 season all over again. Too many important players are watching from the sidelines. I think during that last drive Arrington, Webb, and Davis were out. Add in offensive players like Smith, Gillmore, Perriman, Campanaro, and Forsett and it just becomes too much.

But even with the injuries I think its pretty clear that Pees needs to go

  3. we never had a good OLine back in 2013. we're a run 1st team, our offense thrives when we run the ball effectively.

Every offense thrives when they are able to run.

Yes, 2013's oline was a lot worse, i was just using that as an example of what will happen when you try to force the run when there's nothing there.  But until last night our tackles have looked terrible.

  4. Though the line gave up 5 sacks... It was one of their best showings... they picked up the blitz extremely well and for the most part created highways for the backs to run through.. we just gotta figure out how to stop shooting ourselves in the foot and we will be alright... to many times we turn the ball over and give the opposing team life... before the pick we were doing whatever we wanted... we were already in Steeler territory when it happened.. with momentum on our side... that game should have been a wire to wire win... the play calling was suspect at times.. but it is what it is... would like to see some more screen plays.. bootlegs.. something to keep defenses from the constant blitzing...

In many ways they definitely looked better, but the defense was in Flacco's face way too much

It was good to see Trestman finally use playaction at the end of the game but am I the only one wondering why Flacco isn't throwing more passes to Forsett. Do they not trust him as a receiver?   For years throwing to the running back was a huge part of the Ravens offense and it is supposed to be a staple of Trestman's offense.  Yet, we are seeing it used.  Even after they were playing without Gillmore, Smith and Camp, and the offense needed playmakers.

  5. staying committed to the run win u games, that's baltimore's recipe for success, if we did that last 3 games we would be 4-0, but our problem is our coaches try to be cute with personnel we have and lose games. last night we saw the good ol'Ravens running the ball down the squeeler's throat. just run it!!!!

Well trying the force the run, when its not working will kill your offense.  We saw it a lot in 2013 and we have seen a lot of it in the first half of games.  I don't think Trestman wants to stop running the ball but when you need to make a comeback and your running back is only averaging 3 yds a carry you need to throw it.

  6. You gotta give props to the hated bunch of WR's that stepped up, Forsett, and the Defense. If this game was lost you could have looked at Flacco and his turnovers as well as Trestman. How many times can you show run against a defense playing to stop the run, and run the ball up the middle? When is the play action pass coming to the TE? But at the end of the day, we needed to walk away with a win and that is what happened. It was a gritty effort and once again Tucker with ice in his veins proved his worth. He is the most important free agent IMO. Great kickers are so undervalued, give him top money and be happy we have a guy we can always rely on in close games. PS: kick the field goal and take the points every time we are in FG range. GO RAVENS!.

Yeah, they were two stupid turnovers by Flacco. And I am still scratching my head when I see some of these plays Trestman calls. But I was pretty amused when Forsett ran on first down and lost a yard. My first thought was why aren't we running playaction plays in these situations, and the next first down they ran a playaction play and got 11yds.

  7. are we actually the wost team in the league? i really cannot think of a team worse than what ive seen from us so far.

would be nice to get bosa, but we'll [profanity deleted] up and win 1 more game than someone else and finish 3-13.

I haven't seen all their games but the 49ers and Colts games I have watched they looked like they had no business being in the NFL. At least the Ravens have been competitive.

  8. I don't see enough talent on the field. Ozzie MUST DRAFT BETTER TALENT. Trade away all picks after 3rd round. Get a couple 1st and 2nd rounders and end our draft early. Trade up a few times next draft to only 1st and 2nd round and stop [profanity deleted] footing around finding diamonds in the rough only to let them walk or trade them away. always leaving the Ravens talentless or full of rookies! STOP IT! This draft was terrible just like last years draft. The games are getting hard to watch. Where is 120 million?? Surely not on this team!

    Stop watching.

I was going to go into a long explanation about how most of the salary is going to guys like  Flacco and Yanda.  And how  2014 was a really good draft.  But it's kind of pointless.

    Just stop watching

  9. About those PFF grades: Jimmy Smith grades out as the number 8 corner? Amari Cooper and AJ didn't get the memo. Jimmy is also the number four most targeted corner with a minus 1.5 coverage. Too bad they didn't give Ronald Darby a look or reconsider Marcus Peters. Both had positive grades while being even more highly targeted. Needless to say the team effort and the opponent play a role in the overall grade. Then there's Pernell McPhee on the PFF at number seven among edge defenders, Boldin number 7 among WRs. Fortunately Ben ranks second and we'll miss him. https://www.profootballfocus.com/

Proof that PFF doesn't tell the entire story.  Boldin has 112  yds and 12 catches in three games.  This guy is supposed to be their number one receiver and have is averaging less than 40yds a game.  I haven't watched the past two games but against Minnesota he looked like he didn't even want to be on the field.

  10. I've never heard of a concussion making somebody miss 3 1/2 games. Then again, I've also never seen an injury treated as strangely as Perrimans...what's the deal Ravens medical staff?

On the practice field they originally diagnosed it as a bruised knee, but how many times have the doctors on the field  got it wrong and the next day reported that its worse than they originally thought.

Perriman sprained his knee, and it takes 6-8 weeks for that to heal. 8 weeks after the injury he returned to the practice field.  A few days later during practice he re aggravated it.  What is strange about that?

In sports, this same scenario has probably played out thousands of times, but people are acting like its a big deal.

  11. Daniel Brown. Can't do any worse than Aiken or Marlon Brown and right now we need to find people that can catch the ball. I felt that once we paid Flacco all that money that it was going to cost us down the road. We are on that road right now.

If they do decide to add another receiver it will probably be Ross, because he has NFL expericece or Butler because he had a very strong camp.  I doubt they are going to bring in a guy that looked good at the end of some preseason games.

Two things you should already know about Ozzie.  He isn't going to spend a lot of money on other team's free agents and he isn't going to pay a lot of money for a player he thinks he can replace with a cheaper option.  And signing Flacco hasn't to a long term contract hasn't changed that.

    Minionhunter, on 30 Sept 2015 - 1:15 PM, said:
Its a PCL. Remember Hensley's tweet. PCL ~8 weeks, and if he tweaked it Sunday, likely longer.

Because it came from Jamison Hensley, a reporter from ESPN, he is not an official member of the team. The team never said anything officially about PCL. The Ravens have not changed their stance since July. Fans gives more weight from officials associated with the team than from a reporter. The Ravens have not acknowledge whether his tweet is true or not.

Yes, but Harbaugh even said it was a sprain/strain. Does it really matter what kind of sprain it was?.  It takes 6-8 weeks to recover from one of these injuries and exactly 8 weeks after the injury occurred he was back on the practice field.

I usually doubt a reporter when they say something like "according to my sources"  but most of the time they are correct.  And given the time frame of the injury, and the walking boot Perriman was wearing when Hensley reported the injury its hard to say he was wrong.

  13. Why would Chicago do that deal?

If they don't plan on resigning him in the offseason they are basically getting something for nothing.  You don't see it too much in football, but you will see a lot of baseball teams trade away players that they don't think they will resign.  Chicago needs to rebuild and if Jeffery isn't in their plans they might as well get something out of him by trading him away.   If they are going to trade him its going to come down to who is offering the best deal,

Personally, I can't see giving away two draft picks with 12 weeks left in a contract.

  14. How about a shot to the arm, FO? Offer up a fifth rounder to Miami for Kenny Stills. Face it. We're not going to see Perriman this year and Aiken/Brown aren't even close to WR2s. You already gave Miami a draft pick for a DB who was inactive yesterday. What's another pick for a player--who can actually ball-- and suit up?!?!!!

Usually I shoot down suggestions but if Miami was looking to trade him I think Ozzie should think about it.   He would come relatively cheap,  considering he is still signed to his rookie contract.   And unless  Perriman is put on IR I think he will play this season.   Stills just gives Flacco another weapon while he is out, and next season when Smith retires.

  15. This team has no motivation to win. There is a huge lack of leadership. The makeup of this team right now is mostly free agents unfortunately. We wen't from having a defense that we fully drafted to having one where most our guys are either free agents or rookies stepping in immediately. Will Hill & kendrick Lewis - Both free agents. Daryl Smith, Lawrence guy, Elvis Dumervil. All guys from free agency. Think of our SB run, Pernell Mcphee, Arthur Jones, Ngata, Suggs, Cary Williams, Jimmy Smith, Ray Rice, Danielle Ellerbe. Bernard Pollard was a free agent pick but he fit perfectly with a bunch of guys that were already Ravens by blood. This season our staff went to heavy in relying on free agents to carry this team. Thats where I feel the motivation and leadership lacks when it comes down to it. Ozzie and the crew wanted a more explosive offense but they forgot that this team and most importantly baltimore city which is a blue collar city is a defense city. Keep Flacco intact, and just build on our defense and get the RUN game back!!

Williams, Graham,  and  Pollard.   3/4th of the Super Bowl winning secondary were free agents.  And outside of Rice Flacco and Smith, there were a bunch of free agents on that starting offense.

Sure it would be nice to see more homegrown talent on defense,  but since the Super  Bowl  the team has lost a lot of guys to retirement and guys being overpaid as free agents

We are stuck with free agents because we failed to draft well for defense recently.  Elam, Brookes, Kindle, Cody, A Brown etc...  In recent years we have struck out in the draft.  Of course we can yell at Ozzie and blame him but when the team picks between 28th and 32nd just about every year, slowly but surely your draft picks are going to be of suspect quality.  We did do well with Brandon Williams who is starting, also Mosley, Carl Davis, Webb, and Smith but mostly we have FAs because we have done horrible in the draft save 2 or 3 players

Yes, there have been some bad draft picks,  but you made a good point,  its hard to draft stars when you are always drafting at the end of each round.   But the 2014 draft was probably one of Ozzie's best.   It probably ranks just behind  Ogden/Lewis draft and the  Flacco/Rice draft.   And if Perriman and  Williams become the players everyone thinks, this draft could be right behind them.  Add in Davis and Boyle,  and this was a solid draft.

  16. Am I the only one that misses Pitta?

I feel like Pitta would have, at least attempted to, pulled that ball in to beat Denver,  And he would have pulled that ball in, to get a first down.  These young tight ends have a lot of potential, but they have a lot of growing to do.

Flacco definitely has his flaws, but with the defense struggling we need offensive players to make plays, and right now Smith and Flacco are the only ones doing it.

  17. It is a shame we could not get the win today with Ben Rothlisberger going down today with the knee injury. We may have been able to get to 2-2 if Ben is still out with the knee injury.

You want to play Pittsburgh at their strongest,  but with the Ravens struggling you can't be upset that you are going to face Vick over Ben.  Let's be honest,  the Steelers could be  2-5 about time Ben comes back  And outside of The Pats none of the AFTERNOON teams look real good

Flacco is not playing his best to win either. Sometimes I think he is just a center of the pack qb. Maybe around 10-15 of the league right now. His INTs are stacking up. To me you don't need good receivers if you can hit them in the numbers.
