Hmm..Where have I heard this before? Harbaugh downplaying the extent of an injury in which he has zero qualification to make an educated judgement upon..and for those saying he is only relaying what the doctors are telling him..you're wrong. The doctors are not being as bold/assumptive as harbaugh makes it appear.
Yeah, because the medical staff on the sidelines has never been wrong. Throughout the season we will hear coaches say one thing after a game and two days later we will hear how the injury is actually worse then what was originally reported. The same thing happened with Perriman during that practice and people won't shut up about it.
"Best case scenario: He returns to being a great player."
"Worst case scenario: He doesn't."
Thanks for that info. I feel so much more enlightened now.HA...too funny..... another week or so and the news should start to pick up!
News should pick up this weekend. It's hard to believe, but the first open practice is next Monday, the second one is the following Saturday and the first preseason game is the Thursday after that.
We will have a chance to go 3-1 to start the season. Surely, we will have a better chance of getting to 8-8 from there if we can stop the other teams from just driving down the field at will and scoring, which happened too often last season.
Yeah, in the beginning of the season teams went up and down field, but towards the end of the season they were keeping most qbs to around 200yds, or less. An what should be an improved pass rush and a better safety will do wonders for any defense.
1 hour ago, eze17 said:Two of our TE's being suspended will be an issue if Pitta can't come back, and one of the other guys goes down. Don't forget Gillmore is coming off an injury. And while Williams has good potential he's unproven. So I have a wait and see attitude on this one.I'll agree with Eisenberg on all the rest of them.
Yeah, if one of the guys goes down before the season starts it could be an issue, but doesn't that apply to most positions, on every team? And even if Gillmore doesn't start, in theory Watson and Williams should be enough. Seriously though, how much do teams really use their third tight end? Yes, having 3 or 4 help, but its not something the team needs. And even if one goes down, Waller will be able to come back on week 5. If the team is already in trouble by week 5, they have bigger issues than being short tight ends.

If getting hurt and missing a season of football makes you a bust, then there are a lot of busts in the NFL, making millions of dollars.
I am with Hensley on this one. AJ always had good secondary receivers around him and now they're gone. They aren't going to be the force they have been in recent seasons, but they might be good enough to be a wildcard team.
46 minutes ago, Jayyung66 said:I feel like finally Joe will have all the weapons that we have patiently been waiting for. I feel as everyone will have an important role. Joe Flacco can be one of the better qbs in the NFL. He has proven it game after game. The Ravens are stacked a receiver and tight end. Put Steve Smith Sr. in the slot, then you have Wallace and Aiken on the outside. Even if Perrimen is healthy, I dont see him as a full time starter right away due to the lack of experience as a starting receiver in the NFL. Aiken can be just a effective as Boldin was. He is physical, good route runner, and has a good set of hands. Then at tight end, Pitta is returning. This is great news for Flacco. Pitta was Flacco's security blanket. We also have Gilmore, Watson, Boyle, and Waller. I feel Waller may be the under dog, but i feel with time and practice he can be a very gifted tight end. Hopefully we can keep him around, but i dont see the Ravens keeping 4 tight ends for many reasons. Overall i believe this team will revolve around Flacco's confidence on his leg. With the receiving corps we have, I can easily see Flacco tossing for well over 4,000+ yards and 40tds.
People keep forgetting about the running backs. We might not have a top back like we did for years with guys like Lewis and Rice, but we have a good group of backs and all of them can catch the ball(including the fullback). So, like everyone keeps saying, if this team can stay healthy there should be weapons all over the field.
It would be nice to have the room to keep all five tight ends, but I just don't see that happening. Someone will have to go and I think most people are going to say Waller. I would hate to see him go, with his speed and size he could do some damage, but its probably going to come down to him or Pitta and Pitta has shown he can play in the NFL. But you can never tell what Ozzie is thinking. He might keep Waller, because he is a player the could be on the team for years, while we have no idea how much longer Pitta will be able to play at this level.
2 hours ago, sami said:Zrebiec is SO wrong. The last thing we need is another WR and certainly not Boldin. The only holes I see right now is an inside LB and a L OG. I'd happily go to battle with the rest of the team we have.
When Perriman went down I was 100% completely against the idea of bringing Boldin back. It didn't really make any sense. But now that we are hearing that there is a chance SSS and Perriman might not be ready by week one, I can see it happening. If its just SSS sitting out at the beginning of the season, I think it just opens up a hole for Butler to make the roster. And if its just Perriman, I think we will be fine with Wallace as the deep threat receiver. But to have both out could hurt, especially since the team will have to hit the ground running, so they are in a good place when they start the tough part of the schedule, at the end of the season.
Maths out of the general education requirements... What's next, reading and writing?
Keep in mind that we're talking about college, not grade school. If you're in college, you should already have all the basic math skills that you are ever going to need in life. Unless you use it in your profession, math beyond basic algebra(which I took in 7th grade) is not applicable to life at all, and you are going to forget all of it as soon as you walk our of your last class.
Yeah, pretty much what I was thinking. They aren't getting rid of math, it just doesn't make sense to have students to have students pay for math classes that they don't need.
Talking about forgetting all of it as soon as you walk out of the last class. Math was always one of my better classes but when I went to register for classes at community college I clearly forget everthing I learned in high school because I failed the test that they make you take. Then a week into the non-credit math class everything came rushing back and I was pretty mad at myself for not remembering any of it.
What can I say, you can't keep Joe down. First he was able to stay on the field and complete a drive after he tore his ACL, and now he is coming back from the dead. This is one tough dude, and people want to say he isn't elite. Lets see Tom Brady do that.
Our improvement in the secondary last year was more to do with who we played then how we played. Our secondary just has not been good under pees. I hope that he is right and I am hopeful that the addition of Leslie frizzier will pay dividends and that the addition of weddle will be transforming. I really do like the picks of Tavon and Cannaday and I have high hopes there. I always that TBrooks showed a lot of potential and still holding out a slim hope for Elam... I like the additions from last season of Sharece and think Will Davis can shock all of us.... so I acknowledge all of the reasons for optimism. The one area of pessimism that I have remaining however is Dean Pees and his schematic issues. The bend but don't break mentality and the lack of short zone and bump and run defense. I am really hoping that all of the additions out weigh the original problem (PEES)
I'm not sure if are secondary really improved because of who we played. In the beginning of the season they had two good games, one against the Broncos and one against Michael Vick and the Steelers The other 6 games in the first part of the season were pretty bad. They managed to make bad qbs, Keap and Josh McCown, and average qbs, Carr and Dalton, look like pro bowl players. And he other two games were against two qbs, Rivers and Palmer, that have always given the Ravens issues.
But in the second half they were pretty much able to limit what the opposing qbs were able to do. The only qb that had any success against the Ravens secondary was Russell Wilson. After that Rothisburger had the second most yards with 220, and McCown was third with 212. If you can stop NFL qbs from getting over 220 yards, you are doing something right.
Seriously Ryan?....perriman on the roster?...what a Complete waste of space!......especially when Clay is a proven(actually suits up and wants to play) Why would anyone in our organization actually think keeping this guy is going to ever help us......Ridiculous!(in Judge Judys voice)....Cut that guy now unless we really need another gold medal towel appropriator...............Wake UP front office!
Leaders throw to their own receivers most of the time dude(and complete passes also).......we will see what happens this year wit joe.......
Remind me why you're a Ravens fan again. As I recall it, you NEVER have anything positive to say about the Ravens.
I think Bohica5 or Crusader are secretly Mike Preston, and he just comes on here to troll fans.
Here is how I see it shaking out on the "O" Side
Locks:
RB’s:
Justin Forsett, Buck Allen, and Kenneth Dixon
TE’s:
Benjamin Watson, Crockett Gilmore, Maxx Williams, Pitta, Dennis (if he shows old Pitta) you only have two truly heathy TE's.
WR’s:
Steve Smith, Mike Wallace, Kamar Aiken, Breshad Perriman, Chris Moore
Special Teams:
Keenan Reynolds
Kaelin Clay
Darren Waller
PS:
Lorenzo Taliaferro, Jeremy Butler, Daniel Brown
Cut:
Chris Matthews, Terrance West, Trent Richardson
?:
Michael Campanaro
Suspended:
Nick Boyle
Okay, lets start with the obvious. So we are keeping 4 backs, don't forget "Juice", 5 tight ends and 7 receivers. Add in 2 qbs and that only leaves room for 7 offensive linemen(25 offense + 25 defense + 3 special teams = 53, not a definite guideline, but its a good starting point when trying to guess a roster)
I know this isn't a popular opinion, but does anyone else think Forsett won't make the cut this season? I think it might be time for the younger players to take over that position. Last season he looked great when there was a big hole for him to go through, but seemed to get stopped at the line when there wasn't one.
I can't see the team keeping 5 tight ends. If everyone is healthy the question will be, how much can you trust Pitta's to not get injured again? Either they cut him, because the don't think he will stay healthy or Waller gets cut, goes on PS, or goes on IR for a minor injury.
We all know the four receivers that will definitely make the team(Steve Smith, Mike Wallace, Kamar Aiken, Breshad Perriman), I think everything else is a question mark. There are reports that Moore looks good, but lets wait until pads are on. Scouting reports say he takes time to pick up speed and might struggle when a secondary player jams him at the line, Reynolds is only a special teams player and who knows if he can even do that. You have to remember this is all new to him and he might struggle with everything this season, and maybe next season we will se some progress. If the season were to start today I would say Camp and Butler were the two making the team. They both have shown that they can play in this league, but Camp can't stay healthy and unfortunately for Butler we probably won't have room for another possession receiver
Is Taliaferro even eligible to be on the practice squad?
Wallace has turned out to be a big addition... especially since Perriman has proven to be a slow healer. Perriman can now take his time and (hopefully) come back at full strength at some point in the future.
I think the slow healer has been used a lot but I don't know how true that is. Perriman was given 6-8 weeks to heal from the PCL injury and he was on the practice field at the 8 week mark. Unfortuntely he aggravated the injury and by that time there was no real reason to hope was going to come back, so the put him on IR.
What's going to happen after he gets tackled for the first time?
He'll probably stand back up and run back to the huddle.
People keep saying things like this. The guy only missed 3 games his entire college career, so he can take probably a tackle. The fact that he wasn't touched shouldn't come as a surprise considering these kinds of injuries usually happen while a player is running. I am pretty sure Webb has torn both of his ACLs and I doubt he was being tackled when he got hurt. Suggs injured his ACL while playing basketball. And Foxworth tore his ACL during an orientation practice.
I'm with Zrebiec on this one. When the trade is about the original team wanting to get rid of the player (like in the case of Boldin or Ngata) rather than the new team wanting to get the player (like with Zuttah), the compensation is always less than the player would be worth. Anyone who thinks a 6th rounder is a shame, just think about it: we got 6th rounders for Boldin and Ngata too... Because it's the pick PLUS the freed up cap space that's the real gain here, not only the pick.
Is so hard to tell. It all depends on how who needs a tackle, and how badly they need one. If a team feels its a tackle away from being a legitimate playoff contender they might be willing to give up more. And Boldin and Ngata were traded to free up cap space, while Monroe is simply being traded because they don't feel like paying him.
Personally, I think its a weird time to trade him. They are evidently very confident in Stanley, but why not keep him into the preseason and shop him like they did with Mark Clayton. That way teams will know if they oline help, and they could actually be a bidding war, but I don't see them getting anything higher then a 5th round pick.
50 minutes ago, Maurice0094 said:This is great news to hear that he can play. My next question is who are the doctors conducting these examinations? I mean Dr. James Andrews could probably do knee surgeries in his sleep but how did it get out that his ACL was torn when it wasn't? What doctor in the Ravens training room is giving bad info or is this the same one that gave the diagnosis last year about this guy having a sprain then we never see him again because he tore his PCL.
Umm.... a sprain is a stretched or torn ligament. So yes, he said it was a sprain because Perriman had a torn PCL. And Dr. Andrews examined Perriman yesterday and it came out that he had a partially torn ACL. It wasn't until he was able do arthroscopic surgery that he realized the injury wasn't that bad.
1 hour ago, Ravenous_Ravens said:At this point it would be a very smart and wise decision to sign Boldin for a slot WR. Campanaro has not shown the ability to stay healthy, so whatever potential is there is left untapped. Disappointed really. Every time I get excited at seeing him making plays, it comes to an abrupt halt. Reynolds is going to need some time to develop and Boldin would definitely aid that aspect of his growth. Consider it a great swap Campanaro for Boldin.
Boldin having a down year, simply mean he will be a bargain deal. The only stipulation is how much he has left in tank. Last year might not be a good year stats wise, but he wasn't exactly in a high rolling offense either, the whole team's offense had it's share of difficulties. Give him a two year deal, first year guaranteed and second as an option. Don't even complain about his contract because you will still get more production from him than what your paying for.
If the Ravens were to resign Boldin, they would probably move Smith to slot.
Breaking news, Perriman is expected to be ready week one
Waller, Matthews, Butler, and others do not get me hyped up a little. Reminds me of Doss, David Reed, and Millette. If we can pick up a PROVEN veteran(Boldin) at the (Boldin) right price(Boldin) I say we get somebody in here(Boldin) who is DURABLE (Boldin) and "ONLY" catches 70 passes a year (Boldin) and is a PROVEN WINNER (Boldin). We have nothing to lose other than another team signing him at the right price and reaping the rewards.
That's a little unfair to Waller, Matthews, and Butler. We've barely given Waller a chance to play. And Matthews is a better version of Marlon Brown. And if Butler continues to get better he could become Aiken 2.0. While Reed and Doss were decent special teams players, but horrible receivers and Mellette showed potential, got injured and disappeared.
People seem to be forgetting even with Perriman out there is still a good chance those three guys aren't going to make the team. The roster is probably going to be Smith, Aiken, Wallace, Campanaro, Moore, Reynolds.
Also, if Smith or Aiken went down bringing Boldin in makes perfect sense, I don't know how much sense it makes to bring him in to replace Perriman. Years ago we had the Mason, Boldin, Housh experiment, and things didn't go that well, so why would we try it all over again in 2016. And, how much does Boldin have left? The last time I saw him play he looked tired and it seemed like he no longer had the drive to play.
Let's committ as a fanbase to support and nurture Breshad Perriman through his partial tear. If you ask yourselves in the quiet of your minds, you know it wasn't really his fault. So why start branding him a bust, etc instead of helping him heal so he comes back better than ever. Life and circumstances are repeatedly testing him and he is at the precipice and cross roads at this moment. He can turn either direction and I think it's up to us as fans to help guide him to success. How? By not being critical senselessly and instead being supportive of his recovery.
There was someone who texted into 98 Rock this morning asking if they think Perriman is injuring himself on purpose. But this is the same kind of person that told me last season that Joe Flacco wasn't actually hurt. Because Flacco finshed that drive he know Joe wasn't really hurt and only sat out the rest of the season because he knew the season was over.
Perriman,it's Over..
You are Soooooo wrong.
He cannot know it's over - just like you cannot know it isn't...
The fact that the Ravens stuck with Sergio Kindle for so long and are willing to see if Pitta will be able to play shows that team isn't going to give up on a player because of an injury. Right here, right now, the only way it is over is if Perriman says its over.
If Perriman's out for the year again then I see Steve Smith, Kamar Aiken, Mike Wallace, Keenan Reynolds, Campanaro and Jeremy Butler as the WRs who will lead our team.
Don't forget 4th round rookie Chris Moore. He's a big target and has wheels also.
OAN: With the logjam at TE, I'm wondering if they're going to reconsider moving Waller back to WR b/c of Perriman's injury.
Exactly, and that makes me wonder why so many people were saying, "We better bring Boldin back" We already have 8 or 9 guys that could make the roster and probably only 6 will be here week one. Losing one doesn't hurt that much. It sucks because he was figured to be the number 2 guy this season, but Aiken was the number 1 and number 2 guy last season, so he can fill in. And Wallace is a good number 3 guy.
1 hour ago, OzzieBisciotti said:I posted that Orlando Stentinel article a while back too when we drafted him- Oz thought we could replace Torrey with this guy- smh... He can't even get on the field and see what happened to our offense when Torrey left. Speaking of not being able to draft well, we took a softie of a left tackle- check this out- he's highly motivated and doing well (another mistake by Oz):
http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/miami-dolphins/fl-dolphins-main-0608-20160607-story.html
all these poor drafts (bad free agent signings ie Monroe way too much $$) have left us in a terrible spot- stop giving Bama players a chance (Richardson - two teams have already passed on him), and lets start to draft better and get younger w/ free agent signings- we are the worst at drafting safeties and tight ends, and we seem to forget about drafting corners on draft day.
The team down South, about 45 -min away, has a rock star team with a lot of studs. We have bad cap management and a lot of duds.
1. I read the article about Perriman and all it says is he had knee pains as a kid, because, probably caused by Osgood-Schlatter disease. And his dad, a former NFL receiver has knee issues.
2. Is there any reason why you called Stanley soft? All you did was posted an article that talks about how Tunsil, a professional athlete, is athletic and how he will probably move to playing guard.
3. Monroe - Are we blaming his injuries on Ozzie too?
4. Richardson - Low risk, high reward. I doubt he will make the team but if he does the Ravens have a cheap veteran running back and if doesn't then he will be cut
5. I'll give you the safety thing, but there is only about 20 good safeties in the NFL and the other 44 starters are pretty replaceable. And sure they could draft corners in earlier rounds but right now they seem to have two good starting corners, and there are a bunch of teams that can't say that. I'm not touching the tight end comment, because it doesn't make any sense.
6. Is there a new team in Virginia, that I'm not aware of? Seriously though, who are these rock stars you are talking about? They have some good weapons in Garcon, Jackson, and Reed. And they spent a lot of money to sign Norman, but outside of him and Kerrigan there isn't much to talk about, when it comes to their defense. Let's talk when the Redskins beat a team with a winning record.

I read that West has looked good during camp and tonight he stood out over the other backs.
I love Flacco because he can say things like this about Pitta, "He got his little baby injury that he always gets in camp and gets him out of a week in camp. "That’s better than breaking his hip though."
