  1. If "In Ozzie we trust" is true then our coaching staff must be pretty bad. The question is, are there any better coaches out there? I like harbaugh but how about finding some young innovators instead of continuing to recycle these old HC failures or 20 year career assistants.i

Part of me agrees with you. Mornhinweg definitely has issues and Trestman was a huge mistake by the team but Kubiak and Caldwell did a lot of good things for the Ravens offense but both got head coaching jobs before they really got a chance to make the Ravens offense their offense.

But I see what you are saying. Most of these older coaches understand football and had success elsewhere but they are unwilling to change things to keep up with what is going on in the NFL right now and adjust things to the players they have, and a younger coach is probably going to be willing to make these changes.

  2. Can't turn the ball over Joe. Protect the lead. Let Tucker continue his historic run.

Was that a horrible pass? Absolutely, but I can't believe how many people are talking about just kicking the field goal. You need a 3 score lead to finish teams off and a field goal wasn't going to cut it.

But while we are talking about that pass, did anyone else notice the way Steve Smith is tackled as Joe is letting go of the ball? He had no chance of even touching the ball but I feel like a lot teams would have gotten pass interference on the play.

  3. On defense , I think the needs need great play from the inside LBs. Pats love to spread things out and work underneath. Stop the run, disguise pressure, and blitz up the middle.

On offense, the pats don't have a great pass rush and big slow LBs. Pitta and RB out the backfield can have a big day and crossing routes should also work.

We can't beat ourselves with penalties or turnovers.

Mosley and Young could play huge roles in this game.

We haven't seen it too much lately but early in the season Mosley was snatching those balls out of the air and if they attack the middle we might see him get his hands on the ball.

With Edelman being their main receiver and Young being drafted as a slot corner this could be a huge match up.

If those two guys do their job and the front seven stop the running game this could be a good game.

Hold on.... We have Zuttah at C.... we can play both Urschel and Jensen at G... (all three started games last year) We have Alex Lewis back and he actually is a T... We have Hurst who has started way too many games over the past 2 season (but can go) ... it sounds like Stanley will be a go). Ducasse is a quality back up if needed. (I would be shocked if both Yanda and Wagner missed- they are both some pretty tough dudes)....

Yes we are banged up and nicked up but I really do not believe that the OL is that bad. (in fact... I am going to say that I expect 3 of our 5 starters to play Sunday at minimum) the insurance policy is for two reasons:
    1. Practice dummies
    2. In case those bumps and nicks get worse through the game or through the season.

Jensen started either five or six last year.

Doubt Stanley is a go this week.  If he returned to practice, I would guess he's next week at the earliest, or maybe after the bye week.  I don't think we pick up another guard if Yanda was going to play.  Same with Wagner.....

Stanley practiced today, With Wagner and Yanda both unlikely to play I doubt they sit Stanley

If Trestman can't get it together, I don't see him sticking around much longer. We were better off grabbing Gase or Norv Turner who has the Viking offense clicking with Bradford.

While I agree that Trestman has been hurting this offense but the Vikings and the Dolphins are both averaging less yards a game then the Ravens and Vikings are only averaging one more point a game then the Ravens.  Sure that one point would have helped last week but its not like either one of these teams have great offenses.

I'm so sick of the Ravens offense constantly being in the lower tier of the NFL. It is time to put up or shut up for Flacco and I am a huge fan of his. I also think Trestman does a disservice for this team too. Granted we have a lot of question marks on the left side, and that is on the GM for not making sure our depth chart was adequate. So, another year of disappointment looms for this offense because the Ravens, as a whole can't freaking get it right. SO FRUSTRANTING!!!

Well I have some good news, according to NFL.com those ranks in that article are completely wrong.  The Ravens have number 1 ranked defense and the 19th ranked offense.  And in all honesty a big game ore two could easily put them in top 15, or higher.

When it comes to the offense Trestman is definitely problem number one, but dropped passes and penalties are arguably 2 and 3 on that list.    Then you have the offensive line struggling in both pass blocking and run blocking.  Even with that said, I think its a little early to say "another year of disappointment looms for this offense"   Like one expert was saying, with limited offseason practices the first four games of the season are like preseason games.  Teams are still figuring around what they are good at and when needs to be fixed,  There is still time to turn things around.  Last season the Ravens were able to fix their pass defense and late into the 2012 season a change in OCs helped the Ravens win the Super Bowl.  But they need to fix things now because their schedule is about to get a lot tougher.

  6. It could be worse, we could be one of the many teams that over spends on other team's high draft picks. Personally I like the idea of have some seasoned veterans helping leading this team.

People are making a big deal out of this but every team has to do it and Ozzie has been successful at doing it since he has been the team's GM. From Shannon Sharpe to Jacoby Jones, veteran free agents have helped shape this team into what it is today.

  7. I am concerned that Z Smith may be out. That takes away another pass rusher. McCown > RGIII so I expect a better offensive effort from Browns. Their TE lit up the secondary last time so Ravens need to be prepared.

On offense, I expect them to blitz a lot. Until the Ravens prove the offense can consistently beat the blitz, every team will blitz. The key for Ravens is balance offense and no turnovers. Ravens win. Just too many weapons for Cleveland.

Last week Flacco had one of the best comp% against the blitz, i think it was 75%, One thing that needs to happen is they need to cut down on the stupid penalties. I think both guards, both tackles and Steve Smith got flagged for false starts. And then we had an early snap from the center.

  8. If Hines Ward is voted into the HOF I'm gonna puke.

Yeah, I don't see it happening. Everyone said that Mason had a good career but he falls a little short of being a Hall of Famer and they have very similar stats. Mason played a year longer, and Ward has more tds, but Mason started his career as a special teams player and put up pretty good stats before becoming a starting receiver.

  9.   Quote

Ravens have won 14 of last 16 games against the Browns, recording a plus-11 turnover margin.

It would be real nice, if we could get our first of many turnovers this season this weekend.  Would love to finish on the + side this year.

McCown had a decent year with the Bears in 2013 and with the Browns in 2015, but for the most part he is known to throw as many interceptions as tds, and he is 37 years old, So, I wouldn't be surprised to see him throw an int or two this weekend.

  10. ... and Perriman's hurt again.

This is what I hate to see once a player gets labeled "injury prone" Last season and the beginning of this offseason Perriman had issues with his knees, right now he has a calf injury, so its not the same problem. Let's just hope its nothing serious, and not freak out about an injury that might not even keep him from playing Sunday.

When an "injury prone" player goes down people love to go "See I told you so". I saw an article three weeks ago that said that Pitta's broken finger is proof that the Ravens can't count on Pitta to stay healthy. Umm... Pitta has in issue with his hip, his broken finger is completely unrelated. And earlier this week someone said something like "Now you see why Allen fell down most draft boards" A comment was made that said, "Yeah, because his spleen and an ACL injury are connected"

  11. I wonder why it takes so long for pressers to be posted on the website? I think the minute a presser has ended it should be posted ASAP on the website. If it was good enough to run live, what kind of editing is needed to post it immediately? I don't really understand the technical aspects for the delay. Because in my mind, if there is no technical difficulty involved, then it should be posted immediately after the live session is complete. Especially for those that tune in late, they miss the entire presser for a few hours. Maybe BR.com can look into this and expedite posting videos immediately after the presser is finished??

fusuymada makes a good point, but I also think they might mess with the audio a little bit. Just doing things like cleaning it up and make it a little louder. Yesterday I tried to listen to Joe and Steve while I was at work and it was hard to hear their answers and impossible to hear the questions. But today I went back and listened to most of Steve's presser and i had no problem understanding everyone.

  12. Wish we had Ed Reed coaching for us. Joey Porter went back to Pittsburgh to coach, I'm wondering why Reed didn't. I bet it had something to do with Ozzie & Harbaugh not bringing him back to retire as a Raven. They better do whatever it takes to get Ray Lewis back in the building coaching for us.

I think Ed Reed becoming an assistant coach has more to do with Rex Ryan convincing him to come coach with him then him actually wanting to be an assistant coach.

  13. Gonna start the season with only two healthy backs, and one of them (Buck Allen) is average at best.  Also, thought Brooks was sure to make the team, and Butler too especially with Camp on the IR.  Don't get it.

For weeks I have said Forsett might get cut, but I figured it would to make room for someone like Butler.

I can't believe they kept Lewis over Brooks.

  14. IMHO this is mostly about knowing their options prior to final cuts. Hard to imagine them singing a PR specialist with a number of tough choices needing to be made. Hester would need to contribute in the receiving game to make this move worthwhile and at 33 I just don't see it.

That's what I was thinking, but since they waived Butler and Campanaro it looks like they are going with 5 wr and 1 kick returner.

  15. Campanaro IMHO is gone. Did not show enough plays or do enough to put to rest injury concerns.

Looking at Hester is most likely as an "in case we need him" scenario. Hester would need to be more than just a returner to be signed asap.

I would expect to see Chris Moore getting more PR/KR opps. We all know they could easily throw Webb or SSSr. back there without much issue, minus potential for injury.

By your theory Pitta is going to be cut too. Pitta is more of an injury risk and he didn't play in any of the preseason games.

The Ravens know what they are getting with Campanaro and Pitta so unless someone beats them for their job, which hasn't happened, they aren't at risk of being cut.

Where it would be nice to be perfect in every draft with every player, it is impossible. Ozzie is great because of how well he does compared to the rest of the league. Believe it or not, the draft is set up so the best teams pick later making it harder to get superstars in every draft, thus creating parity. Because we have done so well historically, the fact that Ozzie is discussed as one of the best in the league is a tribute. Yet there are those who continue go down the road of "Ozzie has lost it", or "our scouts are no good". Not every draft pick is Ray Lewis or Jonathon Ogden.

I have major concerns with Webb on the roster as a safety. We say in this article Keenan Reynolds can't make the transition well enough to be a pro wide reciever yet if you look at the video of Reynolds making the long catch from Joe (in the video section), he beats Charisse Wright and Webb had him deep and while the guy who can't make the team is catching the ball and running for a touchdown, Webb is looking up in the air with his arms out like he is checking for rain. That's scares me.

With the tennis ball drill, the balls should be dyed brown like a football not flourescent green. Anyone can find the bright green ball against a dark blue sky but the brown football blends in better with the blue sky and will make the drill more realistic.

The only area Ozzie struggles somewhat is with drafting WR. Funny enough though he is pretty good a finding vet WR to bolster the roster, which he has done time and time again. IMHO maybe it's because he was a tight end. ha

One play in training camp is not an issue for concern. Only the coaches know what the play call was and the objective of the drill. IT is like assuming something without first understanding the context of the matter.

I like the tennis ball idea being painted brown to be more difficult to spot and catch.

I was thinking that other day, how much longer can we say Ozzie can't draft WR? Torrey was never the number one receiver that we wanted, but he wasn't a bust like Clayton. Camp and Perriman seem to have potential to be playmakers, but injuries have held them back. So, if they stay healthy most of the season and play well will people start to change their minds. And there are guys like Moore and Butler that should add decent depth to the position, which is something the team never really had in past seasons.

  17. Over/under on games played this year. Gilmore 5. Campanaro 3. Perriman 1.

What are the chances that you are a troll: 100%

Even your prediction doesn't make any sense. Campanaro has played 4 games the past two seasons(should have been more last year, but he was put on IR to bring in another player rather then waiting for him to recover), but you have playing 3 games. Gillmore played in 15 games his rookie season and 10 last season, where the hell did you get 5 from? The guy gets once serious injury and suddenly he is injury prone? Its anyone's guess with Perriman will do, but I know as soon as he gets hurt again, be it a concussion, foot injury, or a broken hand, fans will blame Ozzie and claim that he shouldn't have drafted a guy that gets injured.
