Exactly. My guess is Oz knows exactly what he is doing and that people who jump to conclusions know nothing.
well apperently its a 1 mil base salary , 1 mil bonus and 1 mill incentives deal.
not bad at all.
What I'm thinking it means is that he has to sign for the vet minimum with no signing bonus and then they can count him as being a 2 yr player for 585k but I'm also not sure lol. I've never heard of it. Be nice to see all the details.
i think only the years of experience and it being a 1 year deal is what counts to qualifiy.
but you might be right.
english aint my first language so i might be reading it wrong lol
Seems like thats only if he signed for 970k. He signed for 3 mil.
he can sign for whatever price as long as the guaranteed part is less then 65K and its a 1 year deal and he is a veteran lol
at least thats what i make of it.
that 970K will be his cap number and the minimum schaub will make.
max ofcourse will be the 3 mil but it wont count that much against the cap.
so its a 3 mil 1 year deal with a 970K cap hit and 970K minimum earning.
I'm not exactly sure what that means lol
since schaub is an 11 year pro according to that rule if the ravens will use it on him he will only count 970K against the cap.
that is if there isent a bonus worth more then 65K in his contract.
so its pretty early for people to make assumptions without knowing the contract details , especially how much is guaranteed.
970K cap hit is nothing for a QB with as much experience as schaub.

some might be wise to read this before bashing ozzie.
credit goes to TheConquerorWorm for pointing this out in another thread btw
does anyone even know how much is guaranteed?
3 mil means nothing if their aint no guaranteed money since he can be cut with out a hit at any point.
Anyone know if a Housler signing would count against our comp pics?
he would.
he did not get cut.
glennon would cost at least a 3rd round pick and i doubt i will see that happen.
he was a 3rd round pick and he has starting experience + he has this season + next season left on his deal + he is the only experienced QB they have.
ow kubiak how quick you are forgotten and how fast they are willing to give others credit for your work lol
so we just forget its kubiak zone blocking scheme we where using not to mention first thing kubiak did was change the terminologie for the o-line making it easier.
lol, this has absolutely nothing to do with what I posted. I responded to someone stating Elam needs a "confidence boost" in order to play better. If you need a confidence boost to play in the NFL, youre in the wrong business.
Of course there's going to be busts, Matt Elam is a bust..
players with confidence will react faster while those who have doubt will be thinking to much and thus react later.
in the nfl where things go at an extremely fast pace , reacting to slow will lead to things like missed tackles or getting burned in coverage.
its no difference then QBs who wait till a receiver is open before throwing the ball compaired to QBs who have the ability to throw receivers open.
just look at how Rodgers is able to throw the ball before the made a break and once the wr turns his head the ball is basicially already there for the catch.
compare that to a player like sanchez or griffin who will wait till the receiver is actually open before throwing and thus tend to sack a lot of sacks in the process.
Brady threw a bad pass to Welker in the SB, that Welker gets the blame for.
yup.
still don't understand that when a pass gets thrown above a receivers head its their fault and not the guy who threw the pass.
I can understand blaming the receiver if the ball hit the numbers but high passes to midgets should not be the receivers fault lol
did you guys miss his rookie season in 2013?
he played snaps in sub packages being an inside blitzer or being in coverage.
he was basically sharing snaps with McClain and Bynes besides Daryl Smith.
2014 we drafted Mosley who was a 3 down MLB just like Daryl Smith which just lead to Brown not seeing snaps.
Also both have been durable as well.
Im Smith looses a snap or either he and mosley get injured chances are brown will see snaps.
Its just a case of our BPA approach got us 2 young players and 1 veteran for 2 positions and the best 2 are playing.
not really a knock on brown.
only knock you can have on him is that he cant play on special teams.
NE has the best TE in the league, though. Clearly, it doesn't hurt to have elite receiver.
it doesn't hurt but its not like they moved mountains to get him which seems to be the general idea on this board.
lots of people want the ravens to spend big in FA or trade numerous picks to move up and grab 1 which im trying to say is a terrible idea to build a team.
also if I use everyone favorite excuse to bash torrey:
brady threw 4 picks in the plays off with 3 to Gronk being the target.
So in some way he did hurt them a lil bit but hey that's what you get when you are the teams most dangerous receiver lol.
Seahawks gave that game away though. That whole drive with kearse and beast mode paving pats...
yeah and its further proof they where 1 play away from being SB champions with no name receivers but decided they rather make the QB the hero instead of just giving the ball to their best player on offense lol
my point is that you don't need elite receivers to be a SB champion.
I would do an extremely in depth version of it if I had enough time. I still think it paints a good picture of how underdeveloped we currently are compared to the other teams investing a lot in a franchise QB. Are other teams out spending us on these receiving options? I'm sure they are. But that's part of the problem, even if we refuse to pay market value for top receiving options we should at least invest high draft picks and we don't even seem to do that.
I can save you the trouble.
from the 10 teams you listed only the ravens won a SB.
none of the other teams won a SB since they decided to invest a lot in their receiving core.
a franchise QB + top receivers don't win SBs.
a franchise QB+ a well rounded team wins SBs
Brady did not win a SB when he has all those receiving weapons and the pats neglected the defense , yet the moment the pats decided to invest in the defense (revis, browner) they won a SB right away.
Im gonna be honest and say I don't want the ravens to be like the falcons and invest a lot in receivers neglecting other areas.
its not a recipe for success.
Washington plead guilty to aggravated assault against his girlfriend. He's not going to be on The Ravensradar base off that alone. Can't really say the situation is unproven or bogus when the guy actually plead guilty . link . If Washingon is reinstated back into the league and is cut or is on the trade block then there's zero chance The Ravens will have interest.
And he will probably be out of their price range anways and with mosley smith and brown there isent a need for him anyways
Very True but considering Kendrick's salary and Elam's current play I'd SS is Kendrick's spot to lose.
probably but remember that both Kendrick and will are FS and we all saw what can happen when you play them out of position.
stewart was horrible at FS but played much better when he started at SS along side Hill and well we all saw how elam did as a nickel corner lol.
so its probably elam SS spot to loose and Kendrick I guess just in case Hill gets another suspension orso since its a long way till the regular season starts and we already had a report about him not paying child support or some like that lol.
take in consideration he did not get a high tender and I think the FO isent that certain about him getting to the regular season without trouble either hahahha.
or im just reading to much into it.
he is insurance in case something happens to will hill since they both play FS and probably also insurance elam doesn't take the next step like is expected.
also he adds depth since brooks wont be back in time .
Greg Roman is The Bills offensive coordinator and this is second team as a offensive coordinator in The NFL(49ers the first team). Unless you mean at the college level well this seems like the first time Harvin and Roman have actually met.
you are right I got it mixed up.
that OC is now with the raiders.
Well Harvin went to the Bills. I wasn't a fan of his but I don't see how it makes sense for him to go to The Bills though
mistake OCs
Yeah, definitely - to the level of our 2013 ground game. 2.9 y per cary
yeah cause forsett or any other back would have done better behind that 2013 o-line....
I don't get this lol.
whole season fans cry about the cbs not playing press and now that the FO might be interested in a guy like browner who specialty is press coverage , yall don't want him lol
with all the cry about the lack of press coverage browner would have sound like a match made in heaven...
Something that's been eating away at me since Torrey's new contract details came out is the fact that he essentially left Baltimore for less money. When you subtract fed tax and Maryland state tax from the guaranteed $19 million we gave him it comes out to $13.3 give or take an additional $237500-$608000 depending on which county you live in.When you subtract fed tax and California state tax from the guaranteed $22 million SF gave him you get $11.6 million give or take an additional $220k-$2.2 million depending on what district you live in.So that means he definitely left guaranteed money on the table to go play with the niners. If you can't call his decision to leave a business decision then whats the real reason he left?Any bonuses or additional money he's getting in his contract can't be that much better than what he would've gotten with us because of that huge tax difference. It just doesn't make sense.
its possible we offered a different deal this then the one he got last season.
also possible the deal we offered came with incentives that could trigger jumps in salary and such or things like that.
right now all we have is the duration of the contracts , guaranteed money and total value.
the difference will probably lie in small letters lol.
or perhaps boldin did an excellent recruiting job for all we know hahaha.
or he just wanted a new adventure since he has lived his whole life in one place.
or maybe he wasent so happy how everyone ran his friend rice out of town.
or he just needed a chance of scenery since he admit so much was happening this past season.
TBH like you said I doubt it was only about the money.
He has better hands , better route runner than both, play maker in the open field and return game hes still only 26 yrs old
based on what?
his stats?
the many times he has been traded?
the amount of games he played?
seriously are you even going to provide any arguments that support what you claim lol.
